Bigg Boss TVR report card: Just how many people are watching Hindi, Tamil, Telugu versions? Which has highest rating?

TVR measures the percentage of a target audience watching a program at a given time, indicating its popularity and advertising value.

Bigg Boss remains one of India’s most-watched television shows, topping TVR charts across major regional languages. The show is hosted by multiple superstars in multiple languages, that air on different channels.

Vijay Sethupathi, Salman Khan and Nagarjuna host different versions of Bigg Boss.

What are ratings for different versions?

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7 leads with a 12.1 rating. It is hosted by superstar Mohanlal.

Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 follows with 7.4 on weekdays and 10.9 on weekends. It is hosted by Kiccha Sudeep.

Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9 maintains a strong performance with an 11.1 rating. Actor Nagarjuna hosts it.

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 reached 3.4 crore viewers on TV and got a 5.61 TVR, as per TamilTVHouse. The Tamil version is hosted by Vijay Sethupathi.

Bigg Boss Hindi Season 19 recorded a rise in ratings from 1.1 to 1.3 this week, with weekend ratings at 1.8. Superstar Salman Khan hosts the show.

What is TVR?

A TVR stands for Television Rating or Television Viewership Rating. It measures the percentage of a target audience that watched a particular program or channel at a given time.

In simple terms, it shows how many people (out of the total potential viewers) were tuned in to a specific show.

For example, a TVR of 5 means 5% of the total TV-owning audience watched that program.

TVR is one of the key metrics used in the TV industry to gauge a show’s popularity and advertising value. It’s now often replaced or supplemented by TVT (Television Viewership in Thousands) or AMA (Average Minute Audience) in India’s updated rating systems from BARC.

On Weekend Ka Vaar this Saturday, Salman will pull up contestants who exhibited bad behaviour on the show. These include Amaal Malik, Shehbaaz Badeshah and Malti Chahar.

Made In Korea to R Madhavan’s Legacy, Tamil and Telugu Shows and Films to Look Forward to on OTT

The Tamil and Telugu OTT space is buzzing with an exciting lineup of shows and films. Earlier, films such as Maharaja, Lucky Bhaskar and TEST received a lot of love and appreciation from the audience.

Following the success of these titles, Netflix today announced a lineup of six new Tamil and Telugu original films and series. From edge-of-the-seat thrillers to romantic flicks, it includes something for everyone.

Stephen, a Tamil psychological thriller film directed by Mithun and starring Gomathi Shankar, delves into the mind of a self-confessed killer being evaluated by a psychiatrist on a chilling case. The psychiatrist soon finds herself entangled in a mind-twisting mystery, as what begins as a simple evaluation becomes a descent into darkness. Next is a Telugu series Super Subbu, an offbeat comedy of errors, directed by Mallik Ram and starring Sandeep Kishan. It follows a man unexpectedly tasked with teaching sex education to members of a remote village, despite being the least qualified for the job.


There is also #Love, a Tamil series directed by Balaji Mohan and starring Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi, which offers a refreshing take on modern romance. The show explores the age-old debate as two unlikely partners embark on a unique challenge that brings them closer in unexpected ways.

Taking a heartfelt detour, Made In Korea brings a fresh cross-cultural story to Tamil cinema. Directed by Ra Karthik and starring Priyanka Mohan alongside Park Hye-Jin of Squid Game fame, the film is about a young woman whose dream trip to Korea is derailed by betrayal. Through unexpected friendships and hard lessons, she discovers hope, and herself.

Takshakudu is an upcoming Telugu folklore thriller directed by Vinod Anantoju. Anand Devarakonda stars as a blind man who, along with his loyal dog, sets out to avenge the deaths of his fellow villagers after a tragic accident.


Closing out the line-up is Legacy, a Tamil series from director Charukesh Sekar featuring a powerhouse ensemble cast: R. Madhavan, Nimisha Sajayan, Gautham Karthik, Gulshan Devaiah and Abhishek Banerjee. This gritty family gangster drama spirals into a story where high-stakes saga of succession, where saving an empire means risking everything.

From nail-biting thrillers and moving dramas to punchy comedies and tender romances, this diverse lineup showcases Tamil and Telugu cinema’s creative brilliance.

While the theme of this season is yet to be revealed, the house hints at something futuristic, complete with unicorn sculptures, arched windows, glitzy lights and more. Diwakar: Diwakar, also known as Watermelon Star, is a doctor who gained popularity on social media for creating quirky videos with unique humour.

Aurora Sinclair: Aurora is a model, actor and content creator who gained fame for featuring in short films and music videos.

FJ Adisayam: Adisayam has received appreciation for his acting skills in projects like Suzhal: The Vortex and Aranmanai 4. He’s also a beat boxer and rapper.

VJ Parvathy: Parvathy, also known as Paaru, is a television presenter who gained fame for her lively on-screen personality.

The first episode will premiere on Vijay TV at 9:30 PM on Monday, with the show’s episodes airing at the same time every day of the week, and at 9 PM on weekends, with Sethupathi as the host. It will also stream 24/7 on JioHotstar.

Rajinikanth’s reaction came after over 30 people lost their lives in a stampede-like situation in actor-turned politician Vijay’s rally in Karur.

Rajinikanth on Saturday reacted to the stampede-like situation at a TVK rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, sending his thoughts to the families of people who lost their lives. The death toll includes 16 women, nine men and six children, confirmed Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian.

Rajinikanth wrote in Tamil, “The news of the loss of innocent lives in the incident that occurred in Karur shakes the heart and causes immense grief.

My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Comfort to those who were injured.

What happened in the rally?

The incident, described as a “stampede-like crush” by the district administration, occurred at Velusamypuram on the Karur–Erode highway, where thousands had gathered for Vijay’s ‘Velicham Veliyeru’ (‘Let There Be Light’) campaign meeting. He was addressing the audience when chaos broke out, forcing him to halt his speech.

PM Narendra Modi wrote in X,“The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured.”

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also called the news “worrying”. “The news coming from Karur is worrying. I have called former Minister V Senthilbalaji, Minister Subramanian Ma, and the District Collector to provide immediate treatment to the civilians who have fainted due to the crowd and have been admitted to the hospital. I have also ordered the Minister from the nearby Trichy district, Anbil Mahesh, to provide necessary assistance on a war footing. I have also spoken to the ADGP there to take steps to improve the situation as soon as possible. I request the public to cooperate with the doctors and the police,” Stalin’s X post in Tamil read.

Syam Pushkaran Steps Into Tamil Cinema With Kamal Haasan’s KH 237

National Award–winning screenwriter Syam Pushkaran, best known for his sharp and humane storytelling in Malayalam cinema, is all set to make his Tamil debut. He has been roped in as the writer for KH 237, Kamal Haasan’s upcoming action film directed by the stunt-choreographer duo Anbariv.

A Celebrated Writer Crosses Over

Pushkaran first caught attention with Aashiq Abu’s Salt N’ Pepper and went on to pen modern classics like Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Joji (2021), and most recently Rifle Club (2024). Having collaborated with Abu on half of his projects, Pushkaran has built a reputation for crafting layered characters and nuanced drama. His entry into a large-scale Tamil actioner marks a striking new chapter in his career.



For fans, the big question now is how Pushkaran’s delicate narrative touch will blend with Anbariv’s trademark adrenaline-charged style. The marriage of intimate writing and explosive action could be the unique selling point of KH 237.

Kamal, Anbariv & The Road Ahead

The project will see Kamal Haasan headline the actioner while also backing it under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International. Known for constantly reinventing himself, Haasan is coming off the release of Thug Life earlier this year. Meanwhile, the future of Indian 3 remains uncertain after the lukewarm reception of Indian 2 in 2024 — making KH 237 an important film for the actor both creatively and commercially.

Directors Anbariv, the twin brothers Anbumani and Arivumani, are household names in South Indian cinema for their action design. Their stunt work in Vikram and Thug Life drew particular praise, and with KH 237 they are stepping into the director’s chair for the first time. Their reputation ensures that the action quotient will be sky-high.

With Syam Pushkaran now steering the script, anticipation is mounting around the film’s tone. Will it be a gritty action drama with emotional heft, or an all-out spectacle with a fresh narrative twist? The official announcements so far have been tight-lipped, but the creative team assembled suggests something ambitious is in the works.
