Cancer surgeon with 22 years of experience shares the ‘1 common habit’ silently destroying your immune system

Always scrolling late or binge-watching shows? Cancer surgeon Dr Tarang Krishna says proper sleep is the real key to keeping your immune system strong.

Always scrolling on your phone late at night or binge-watching shows till 2 AM? That ‘just one more episode’ habit might be silently hurting your immunity. Poor sleep makes you tired, stressed, and more prone to illnesses. Dr Tarang Krishna, cancer specialist and MD at Cancer Healer Centre, with more than 22 years of experience, shares in his December 2 Instagram post why catching quality sleep is the real key to keeping your immune system strong and your body healthy. (Also read: Surat paediatrician shares how too much love from grandparents can spoil kids; offers tips for parents to strike balance )

Prioritise sleep to recharge immunity and fight illnesses, advises Dr Krishna. (Unsplash)

Why is sleep so crucial for immunity

“You know the key to your immune system? And that key is sleep. Poor sleep weakens your immunity. When your sleep is disturbed, your body becomes more susceptible to fatigue, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and many other illnesses,” Dr Krishna explains.

He adds, “Our body has the natural ability to fight diseases, but we don’t use it properly. This is because during sleep time, we are often glued to our phones. To reduce inflammation in our body, we need proper sleep.”

How to strengthen your immunity through sleep

Dr Krishna further explains the science behind it, “When we stay awake, the hormone melatonin, which is the sleep hormone, doesn’t get a chance to work. And this is why our immune system cannot recharge. To strengthen our immunity, we need to let our system recharge, and proper sleep is essential for that.”

He advises prioritising consistent, uninterrupted sleep to allow the body to heal, recharge, and maintain a strong defence against illnesses.

Olive & June The Builder Gel Mani System Review At Home

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

“Because gel had done so well, but we knew people were like, ‘How do I get stronger, longer nails that are mine? How do I get nail extensions that I can build without a tip?'” Olive & June founder and CEO Sarah Gibson Tuttle tells Refinery29. “[Our community] loves press-ons, but they wanted gel almost to work harder for them.” Designed to work seamlessly with the brand’s existing Gel Mani System (which includes a proprietary lamp, base, and top coats), Builder Gel comes in 15 sheer, milky neutrals inspired by Olive & June fan favorites, and allows the user to achieve the plump, durable look and feel of salon builder gel, or craft gel extensions at home using patent-pending forms. “We want to give you the ability to either have instant extensions or grow your nails over time, and also with the color that you want,” explains Gibson Tuttle. As with salon builder gel, Olive & June’s formula is a thicker consistency (compared to its regular gel polish), which allows you to manipulate the shape and get extra rise and plumpness. (Don’t worry, the brand includes a liner brush in the kit.)

Jay-Z Accused of Retaliation in Court — Woman Claims Rapper Is Using Legal System to Punish Her for Filing Federal Lawsuit

Lillie Coley, the woman who recently filed a federal lawsuit against Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, has asked a California judge for emergency protection—accusing the billionaire mogul of using the court system to retaliate against her.

In new legal documents filed on October 21, 2025, Coley submitted an Application for a Temporary Restraining Order and Preliminary Injunction in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She’s asking the court to block Jay-Z from pursuing what she calls a “retaliatory sanctions hearing” scheduled for November 7, 2025 in New Jersey.

Coley claims the New Jersey motion is meant to punish her for filing a federal case against the music icon. She says the move amounts to “vexatious litigation” and argues that without immediate relief, she’ll suffer “irreparable harm,” citing the financial and emotional toll of fighting “a two-front legal war against a billionaire celebrity.”

In the filing, Coley—who is representing herself—accuses Jay-Z of using his influence and resources to silence her. The documents reference serious allegations, including claims that the rapper allegedly impregnated a minor decades ago and then used “systematic judicial manipulation” to avoid accountability.

Coley’s motion insists that the public interest demands intervention, arguing that “wealth and celebrity status cannot be used to corrupt judicial processes or deny justice to vulnerable parties.” She describes her case as a fight not just for herself, but for others who have been “overwhelmed by procedural warfare designed to silence victims.”

The case has been assigned to Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett in Los Angeles federal court, with a decision on the emergency request expected before the November 7 hearing.

Evolution Dome Launches innovative glazed wall system

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Evolution Dome, specialist in temporary inflatable event structures, today announced the launch of an innovative glass wall system. This new optional feature allows event organisers to flood the contemporary structures with natural light and seamlessly integrate outdoor scenery, creating a premium event experience.

The transparent end wall was recently trialled with great success at a corporate event for a major UK utility company. The new system is designed to enhance the versatility of the 20m Cube, a structure already known for its clear-span interior, superb acoustics, and rapid installation time. By replacing a fabric wall with a solid, clear-glazed alternative, Evolution Dome now offers clients the ability to create stunning backdrops, frame picturesque views, or connect indoor activities with an outdoor environment without compromising on comfort or shelter.

The client from the first launch event provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, stating, “It was absolutely amazing. The feedback we got was incredible. Everyone thought the structure was amazing. The clear wall we added was fantastic, a great addition; I’m glad we managed that. It couldn’t have gone better.”

This successful debut confirms the feature is now ready for the wider market, offering a sophisticated solution for product launches, corporate hospitality, conferences, and high-end private events.

“Innovation is driven by our clients’ ambitions, and we are constantly asked for ways to create more unique and memorable event environments,” said Ash Austin, director at Evolution Dome. “The glazed wall system is a direct response to that demand. It offers the best of both worlds: the structural integrity, acoustic performance, and speed of our inflatable structures, combined with the aesthetic elegance and open feel of a glass wall. The feedback from our initial launch partner was phenomenal, and we are thrilled to now offer this to all our clients.”

Soundshape launches plug-and-play AI system to solve live event accessibility and translation challenges

by jummy84 October 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Jari Hazelebach, co-founder and CEO of Speaksee

A new plug-and-play solution, Soundshape 1 Pro, launches today, providing event organisers and AV professionals with a powerful and cost-effective tool for delivering real-time captioning and multilingual translation at scale.

Developed by Speaksee, Soundshape is designed to make accessibility the standard for any venue or event hosting large groups. The AI-powered system seamlessly integrates with existing AV setups to provide live subtitles with over 95% accuracy and a latency of less than one second. The technology is already being used by major UK event organisers and venues, including the London Marathon, Glasgow Caledonian University, and Westminster Chapel.

As the events industry faces increasing demand for inclusive experiences, Soundshape 1 Pro offers a simple yet robust solution. The system is engineered for rapid deployment, connecting to any existing AV system with just three cables (audio, power, and internet), eliminating the need for specialist IT support during setup.

Once live, attendees can simply scan a QR code with their own smartphone to receive a direct feed of the captions. Key features for the events and AV industry include:

  • The system can translate speech into over 100 languages, allowing attendees to select their preferred language on their device. This makes it an essential tool for international conferences and diverse audiences.
  • High accuracy in complex environments: The technology is designed to handle various regional accents and clearly distinguishes between multiple speakers in panel discussions by using colour-coding.
  • Organisers can offer captions directly to attendees’ personal devices via a QR code, or project the subtitles onto main presentation screens for universal visibility.
  • Soundshape 1 Pro is up to ten times cheaper than hiring human interpreters and up to seven times more affordable than other translation software solutions, offering a scalable and budget-friendly alternative.

“Many organisations still don’t have a solution to truly include deaf people, those who are hard of hearing, and non-native speakers, and the technology that is used often comes with delays and errors,” says Jari Hazelebach, founder of Speaksee and Soundshape. “At Speaksee, it is our mission to make inclusion the standard in every place where large groups of people come together. With Soundshape 1 Pro, we are a big step closer to reaching that goal.”

The system is fully GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001-certified, with all data processed on European servers and automatically deleted after each event, ensuring it meets the highest security standards required for corporate and public sector events.

Early adopters include major European venues and corporations. Marc van Kaam, General Director of Luxor Theater Rotterdam, commented: “With Soundshape 1 Pro, we now have a tool that allows deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors to fully experience selected programs. In this way, we hope to make a valuable contribution to the accessibility of our theater.”

Daron Malakian Jumps Onstage with System of a Down Tribute Band

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

System of a Down’s Daron Malakian was in Chicago for the band’s two-night stand at Soldier Field, and happened to hear a SOAD tribute act performing as he was walking around the Windy City on an off day. The guitarist-singer promptly surprised the cover band by walking into the venue and jumping onstage to perform “Cigaro” with them.

The night before System played their first of two shows in the city, Malakian, a big baseball fan, decided to visit Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, to take some photos outside of the stadium. At first, his cousin, whom he was walking with, thought it might be a karaoke night, but when Malakian decided to peek in, he found out it was a System of a Down tribute band called Peephole.

He walked right up to the front of the stage, much to the shock and delight of the cover band, and then ended up joining them onstage for a performance of “Cigaro.” Malakian documented the whole thing in an Instagram video, and wrote about the experience, which left him just as thrilled as the members of Peephole and the lucky people in the audience:

“Let me start by saying None of this was planned. We had a day off before our show in Chicago and I went out to dinner and after I decided to go take some pictures around town with @gregwatermann. We didn’t plan on going to Wrigley Field, but we ended up there. While we were taking photos in front of the stadium I heard the intro to ‘Needles’ from a bar across the street. My cousin who was with me said that he thought it was karaoke. I decided to walk across the street and go into the bar and found that it was a @systemofadown cover band called @peepholesoad. I walked right to the front of the stage and surprised the band and the audience. This was all so spontaneous. The look on everyone’s faces was priceless. To be honest, I was just as surprised as anyone else was that this was happening. I joined the band and sang ‘Cigaro,’ shook their hands, took some pictures with the fans in the audience, and walked out of the place. I can only imagine what a shock it was for everyone there after I left. It all happened so fast. The odds of this happening were so slim. Probably had a better chance of getting struck by lightning. So many stars had to align for me to end up at the right place and right time. One of the coolest moments I’ve ever had!!! I’ll always remember this night, and I’m sure everyone that was there will never forget it either!!!!!!”

The Anti-Inflammatory Green Smoothie That Strengthens the Immune System

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

You know a smoothie is something special when a chef who has cooked for everyone from Karlie Kloss to Owen Wilson drinks it every day. “It has everything I love: citrus, berries, vegetables, spices, and even seaweed, all blended into a beautiful emerald green,” chef and author Mikaela Reuben says.

The smoothie is the product of years of trial and error—a lifetime, in fact. Reuben began experimenting with food when she was a little girl exploring the herb garden in her family’s backyard. “I realized how even the smallest ingredient could transform a meal,” she recalls.

Eventually, her fascination with nutrition became her love language and a 15-year career—one that she’s been sharing with celebrities that also include Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, and Brie Larson, just to name a few. “I’ve been helping clients figure out what works for them for years, and what I’ve learned is that real nutrition is not just about nutrients, but how the food makes you feel, how it fits into your life, and whether it’s sustainable in the long run,” she says.

Reuben’s newest book, Eat To Love: Where Health Meets Flavor, is centered around that philosophy. With more than 115 colorful recipes, the goal is to help readers fall in love with good eating. “A common mistake I see is believing that there is a universal approach to health,” the chef says. “People often adopt rigid diets, eliminate entire food groups, or try to copy what worked for someone else without paying attention to what really makes them feel good. Bio-individuality means that everyone’s path is different.”

She’s also adamant that taking a holistic view of nutrition can help anyone become a better cook—no matter their current level of expertise. A good place to start? Reuben’s aforementioned green citrus smoothie, which is quick and easy to prepare. “It’s a potent smoothie that boosts immune function, reduces inflammation, and provides the vital nutrition you feel in your body,” she explains.

While Reuben likes to drink it in the morning or when she needs to recharge, she says it is also great prevention for a cold. “It contains a high content of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins A, C and E,” she notes, adding that the anti-inflammatory concoction also provides a good dose of protein and fiber. “Together, all of these amazing ingredients help detoxify and strengthen the immune system,” she explains. “Start your day by drinking this smoothie in the morning if you’re feeling under the weather or when you need to recharge after a night out.”
