24 Best Ankle Boots for Styling With Jeans and Tights

by jummy84 November 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Deep into closed-toe season, the versatility of the best ankle boots remains unmatched, mostly because of just how versatile they are. The low profile can be styled with cropped jeans, tailored trousers, midi-dresses, and miniskirts alike, never competing with hemlines or creating awkward gaps in your outfit. In recent years, the silhouette has taken a knock as one past its peak—but this season’s street-style outfits are loudly singing another tune. In truth, this millennial staple is timeless; don’t let the haters tell you otherwise.

This fall and winter, key styles managed to touch on wider fashion trends while taking seasonal functionality into account. How do you marry coffee-run dressing with after-hours styling, or dry fall mornings with wet winter days? (Not with a stiletto. We know that much.) Luckily, we have you covered with classic Chelsea boots, fuzzy cold-weather styles, and elevated suede options. Shop our editor-curated list of the best ankle boots—all must-haves for this season and beyond.

Best suede ankle boots

Suede—especially chocolate-brown suede—is one of the most popular trends of the season, so why not carry that luxe texture into your footwear as well? A pair of suede booties will instantly elevate any look. Throw a block heel on with a pair of straight-leg jeans, or opt for a sleeker kitten heel with a date night-ready midiskirt or dress. If you’re looking for something you can easily walk in, choose a sturdier heel; for fancy occasions, we suggest a stiletto, which has an inherently dressy feel.

Best Chelsea ankle boots

This casual British bootie earned its name from its popularity among the artsy crowds of the Chelsea area of London in the ’50s and ’60s. Today, this durable, pull-on ankle boot is equally as effortless to style, whether you’re a rockstar or a style influencer. For a truly iconic look, might we suggest styling Chelsea boots with skinny jeans? It’s a combo that’s very Saint Laurent. As a bonus, thanks to their low, wide heels, you can walk miles in these pairs without fuss, making them great sneaker alternatives and true wardrobe workhorses for the season.

Best black ankle boots

The icon! There’s no wardrobe item quite as essential or classic as a black leather boot, and an ankle silhouette makes it all the more functional. Whether you opt for slim and high, a chunky low heel, or one that’s practically flat, you can come up with a million ways to style these picks. They’re essentially the little black dress of your winter footwear rotation. Mark our words: There’s nowhere a black leather ankle bootie can’t go.

Best ankle boots for winter

Let’s talk winter weather. No matter how many chic ankle boots you have in rotation, you need at least one pair that will take you through a slushy commute or a frigid nighttime stroll. Like a wind-resistant winter coat, it’ll quickly prove its worth. Still, that doesn’t mean that you need to sacrifice style for water-resistant utility. These six favorites will have you looking totally winter-ready and keep you cozy, warm, and dry. Sherpa shearling, durable lug soles, waterproof design— these perks make stormy weather a little more tolerable.

Diwali 2025: Refresh your home with these expert-approved festive-ready colours and styling hacks.

Diwali 2025: In the days leading up to Diwali, homeowners are ready to give their homes the biggest glow up of the year, refreshing every corner of their interiors with devotion and creativity. Walls get a fresh coat of paint, and new trinkets from Diwali shopping hauls are added to the shelves and tabletops. At the centre of all this decoration lies a creative vision. While all Diwali decoration has staples like garlands, lanterns and diyas, every house has a different story to tell on the festival of lights.

And what better way to personalise your Diwali decor revamp story? With colours. The colours you choose impart your home with a personality itself. To understand which colours suit together for Diwali decoration, Sidhant Lamba, Founder at STRROT, shared with HT Lifestyle 4 colour combinations, why they work, along with 4 styling hacks for decor placement.

4 colour combinations

Colour theory is real, and the colour wheel is not just for your art class. It is the key to deciding which colours fit together well, helping to create balanced and vibrant colour palettes. This Diwali, be strategic with your decoration instead of making it a shot in the dark.

Here are the 4 combos Sidhant suggested, while we paired AI-generated images for your visual reference:

1. Gold and red:

  • Value: A classic combination that never fails. The pair is opulent, grand and captures the festive warmth.
  • Gold adds luxury, while red adds warmth.
  • Use this duo in cushions, accent chairs, or tableware for instant festive charm.

2. Emerald green and sapphire blue:

  • Value: A subtle yet striking palette, but it is soft and calming at the same time. It is more grounded.
  • Ivory keeps things warm, soft and timeless, while orange adds natural and earthy tone, zest through lamps, ceramics, or dining accessories.

4. Blush pink and antique gold:

  • Value: It is romantic and dreamy.
  • Pair soft blush tones with warm gold in trays, fabrics, or glassware to create intimate, elegant and romantic settings.

4 decor styling tips

The whole story doesn’t end with colours. Your big decor revamp season is also about paying attention to the details, from pairing textures to keeping a space uncluttered.

Here are the 4 tips Sidhant suggested:

1. Play with textures:

A wooden table with ceramic pots next to a velvet sofa is great for visual interest, playing with textures. (Picture credit: Image generated by Gemini )

  • Pair a velvet sofa with metallic trays or ceramic vases and glassware. It instantly adds depth and makes your space feel styled with ease.

2. Don’t crowd your room, align the decor:

  • One bold cushion, quirky lamp, or striking sculpture is enough to make a statement piece rather than making your space cluttered.

3. Lights:

Add lanters, fairylights, diyas for illuminating your homes. (Picture credit: Image generated by Gemini)

  • The warmth from lamps, candles, or fairy lights does more than brighten up your room; they can make colours glow and create that perfect festive vibe.

4. Attention to detail:

  • Large items shine brighter with small details, so we can try to pair a grand console with cute trays or dress up a big sofa with soft, comfy cushions.

Now that you have the inside intel to make your interiors the talk of the town and the favourite place to crash for Diwali parties, it’s time to apply all these in practice and get festive ready for this weekend. Who knows? Your interiors may become the Pinterest board for your friends and family for next Diwali’s great decor revamp.

Elsa Hosk Perfected Autumn Styling in This 3 Piece Look

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

As a new season begins, I like to take stock of my wardrobe and establish a few outfit formulas I can rely on over the coming months—combinations that feel comfortable, current and put-together. At this time of year, that usually means perfecting the trio of jacket, trousers and shoes.

This autumn, I’ve been paying particular attention to fabrics, cuts and colours that feel right now while still standing the test of time. When I came across a photo of Elsa Hosk on my feed recently, I couldn’t help but think she’d mastered the formula perfectly.

Instead of reaching for the glossy leather or oversized bomber jackets that typically resurface each autumn, Hosk opted for a suede style—equally timeless, yet distinctly more relevant this season. With its supple texture and lightweight feel, suede brings a casual ease that makes it ideal for everyday wear. The trend has been steadily building over the past few seasons, appearing across jackets, boots, and handbags, and Hosk’s version, The Schoolhouse Jacket (£811) from her own label, Helsa, comes in a soft, washed shade of green—struck me as the perfect autumn layer.

Then there’s her choice of jeans and shoes, both of which sat in that sweet spot between timeless and trend-aware. Her straight-leg jeans, in an inky dark-blue wash, grounded the outfit beautifully. The classic cut stops the look from veering too trendy while the rich hue adds depth—especially fitting for the cooler months. In a season where baggy and flared silhouettes are reemerging, the straight-leg style remains a reliable constant in any fashion person’s rotation.

Finally, bypassing the loafers and boat shoes dominating this season, Hosk finished the look with a pair of heeled ballet pumps—a chic nod to the latest footwear movement among the best-dressed set. Feminine yet practical, this poised shoe style adds polish without pretension, and when paired with denim, it feels perfectly elevated for the everyday.

An easy outfit formula that promises to endure year after year—read on to shop my edit of the best suede jackets, straight-leg jeans and heeled ballet pumps to recreate the look this autumn.
