How to Style Barrel Jeans for Fall 2025

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

There are so many different types of jeans in the world, and they all seem to come with their own styling guide. How to style barrel jeans—one of fall 2025’s biggest denim trends, for example—is not necessarily going to be the same as how to wear baggy pants or skinny jeans.

The beauty of barrel-leg jeans, however, is that they’re bringing something new to the table. We all might have a classic pair of bootcut or wide-leg pants in our closet, and we often find ourselves wanting to mix and match them with a new top or different shoes. This denim style comes with a totally fresh perspective, which means even the most basic T-shirt from your dresser drawer suddenly looks cool and modern.

12 Best Barrel-Leg Jeans for Fall, According to Style Editors

By Jake Henry Smith and Malia Griggs

A quick aside to talk about what a barrel jean is, exactly: Also known as balloon jeans, they’re defined by having a higher waistband that widens at the hips and narrows again at the hem. They’re often ankle-length, but not always. Regardless, the result is the same—a balloon or barrel silhouette. The pants first started trending last spring and are absolutely everywhere this fall, which means they’re on their way to become a classic standard soon enough.

Below, here are 3 ways fashion pros are wearing their balloon jeans this fall.

The Best Trench Coats for Women, According to Style Editors

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

The best trench coats for women are nonnegotiable—your capsule wardrobe just isn’t complete without one of these do-it-all layers. Most of them, from the classics to the newcomers, are windproof and water-resistant, meaning they’re ideal for transitional weather. While the fall jackets themselves are more popular than ever right now, cropped trench coats are especially trendy; even Katie Holmes is in on the look.

If it’s chilly out, look for longer, lined options made with wool or polyester, which are better at trapping heat and locking out wind; if fall is warmer in your locale, then a lighter cotton pick is probably better. And don’t worry—styling a trench takes virtually zero effort. You only need a white T-shirt, your favorite denim, and slim loafers to feel (and look) put-together. In case the weather drops below 40 degrees, layer your coat over a hoodie, pleated trousers, and trendy sneakers to channel an off-duty model. Shop our edit of the very best trench coats below, curated by style-obsessed editors.

1. The cropped trench coat

Virtually every brand, from Prada to Zara, is offering its own take on the cropped trench this season, meaning you have plenty of ways to try on this jacket trend. Each of these picks tweaks the formula slightly, whether it’s a classic trench cut off at the waist, a super-short crop, or a silhouette that combines a trench and a biker jacket. Style your pick with high-waisted jeans and easy sneakers to channel Parisian chic.

2. The classic trench coat

What more can be said about the timeless appeal of a trench? These picks hit the knee or lower, and the gabardine fabric will neutralize wind and rain—basically, they’re the perfect transitional outerwear. You’ll find hallmarks like epaulettes, wind flaps, and double-breasted construction on each of these picks, so you can narrow down your choices based on color, weight, and price. (A Burberry trench coat is a classic, but there are plenty of more affordable options, too.) Obviously, they look great with jeans, but try styling yours with a light cardigan, a sequin skirt, and kitten heels to master the art of high-low dressing.

3. The mac coat

When you close your eyes and picture a trench, you might actually be envisioning a mac coat. Short for “Macintosh,” after its inventor, this overcoat style is the trench’s more minimalist sister. These picks have spread collars instead of notched lapels and feature fewer design quirks in favor of a simpler, streamlined silhouette. If you like the idea of a trench but don’t love all the bells and whistles, one of these picks is the perfect compromise—they’re just as resistant to gray weather and allow more room for bringing in your own accessories.

4. The statement trench coat

Bored by the sea of khaki trenches you’ll see on every city street this season? Push the envelope of this classic style with these unique picks, which offer the same protection from the elements but a touch more personality—we’ve already started to spot them on the streets of New York. Whether you prefer a slick finish, an unexpected material, or an eye-catching color or print, these gems will elevate all your spring outfits with zero extra effort.

5. The water-repellent trench coat

Don’t let windy and rainy forecasts deter you from rocking a trench coat this fall. In case of unpredictable weather, waterproof trench coats are your best bet to protect against whatever the season brings—it’s just as handy come spring. Most of the finds here are designed with water-resistant fabrics, detachable hoods, and back vents to keep you dry without sacrificing your outfit. The best part? These functional trenches are just as easy to style, so try layering one with a cashmere sweater in your favorite colorway for maximum comfort.

6. The leather trench coat

Leather jackets are classic wardrobe staples for fall, and luckily, they’re also available in trench form. Both genuine and faux-leather trench coats come in a slew of silhouettes; our favorites are double-breasted, range from waist length to ankle skimming, and have a belt looped at the waist. We recommend letting your luxe leather do all the work—whether you opt for a rich brown coat to match the autumn vibes or go into the Matrix with a sleek black jacket, a simple white tee, and your favorite pair of jeans will pair just fine.

7. The wool trench coat

While many are not technically trenches, long wool coats are great alternatives for combating cooler weather in the fall—especially in timeless neutral colors that transcend passing fashion trends. Wool layers, often made with a blend of other temperature-regulating fabrics, are the key to staying warm yet chic. No matter the weather, this timeless silhouette never goes out of style—and we highly recommend investing in this heat-insulating layer this season to beat frigid months ahead.

How to Style an Oversized Shirt for Every Occasion This Fall

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

You’ve come to the right place to learn how to style an oversized shirt. As a fashion editor and practicing androgynous girlie, I just so happen to be the industry’s (self-declared) leading expert on the subject. In fact, I wore two just today.

Whether you’re turning a large rugby shirt into a dress or putting on a billowy button-down, oversized shirt outfits are a Fashion Person’s secret weapon. The drastically outsized silhouette feels theatrical and attention-grabbing in the best possible way, while still giving off an effortless feel. It gives the wearer more fabric to play with and the observer more visual surface area to enjoy. Or, as we say in the business: The looser the fit, the chicer the feel.

Glamour’s oversized shirt wish list

Beyond aesthetics, wearing a loose-fitting top—or any garment, for that matter—makes a powerful statement that should not be overlooked. It allows you to take up space in the world, to be unapologetic in your existence. You don’t have to make yourself smaller, and you don’t have to embrace the hyper-revealing in order to look sexy. You can exist separately from all of these things. In this way, wearing an oversized T-shirt or button-down isn’t just wearing an oversized shirt. It’s a way of presenting yourself to the world—and, yes, okay, it looks really chic too.

Here are some ways to make the look feel authentic to your personal style.

1.Belted at the waist

While I love a “so big you could drown in it” type of fit, embracing a little tailoring almost always guarantees a stylish look. Throw on a narrow belt to make your favorite boyfriend shirt and wide-leg pants feel more appropriate for your proportions, while still very much retaining that relaxed fit. The cinching effect will actually emphasize your look’s exaggerated silhouettes even further.

5 New York Fashion Week Street Style Trends to Know for 2025

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

The season’s biggest New York Fashion Week street style trends are packed with shopping inspiration. The spring-summer 2026 shows have wrapped, and as always, the runways are ripe with outfit ideas for the months ahead. But we can’t overlook the sartorial action happening outside the venues. New York’s style is inherently bold and playful, and the attendees this season matched that energy. In Manhattan (and occasionally Brooklyn), the street style scene’s celebrities, editors, buyers, stylists, and influencers have put their own stamp on fall’s hottest trends.

Voluminous balloon pants, for instance, popularized on Alaïa’s last runway, are now sashaying up and down the sidewalks. Playful, attention-grabbing accessories—like pillbox hats, a silhouette popularized by Jackie Kennedy—are the name of the game too. Okay, no more spoilers! Keep scrolling for a breakdown of the five buzziest New York Fashion Week street style trends that are already taking over among fashion insiders. (Don’t be surprised if you spot these looks all over social media in the coming months.)

Glamour’s NYFW street-style trends wish list

1. Cropped jackets

When it comes to popular fall jackets, the pendulum is swinging toward cropped silhouettes, as proven by Fashion Week guests. Sure, come snowy weather, they may not be the most practical option—but for the next few months, the look is sure to stand out in a sea of ankle-grazing dusters. On the streets we spotted midriff-baring denim jackets, cropped black blazers, and shrunken trenches. For a quintessential fall look, try a cropped jacket rendered in leather or suede. And as temperatures cool, layer your jacket under something longer for double the impact.

There’s nothing like September in New York. A hint of fall is in the air, Hamptons weekends are in the rearview (for now), and come Fashion Week, droves of stylish individuals flock to lower Manhattan for the spring collections. And as much sartorial goodness there is both outside of, and inside the venues, there’s ample beauty inspo to appreciate as well — namely, haircuts of every length, color, and texture that have us texting our stylist, “Girl, you free?”
With the Spring 2026 season finally in full swing, we’ve kept our eagle eyes peeled on incoming street style snaps. The result: All of the most refreshing, effortlessly cool haircuts to inspire you this fall. (Bixie girl summer is still going strong, BTW.)

5 Fall Denim Styles For Men and How to Style Each

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

I’m thrilled to say hello to everyone who’s reading this and to share with you a glimpse into some of the insights I’ve gained through my 15-year career in fashion. I’m a Canadian-born fashion enthusiast and style expert, currently working for luxury retailer Holt Renfrew, which, for those who know, is Canada’s fashion mecca! I’m excited to share with you some exciting stories from my travels and my personal styling tips that I apply to all aspects of my life.

September is one of those months that signals a shift into a new way of dressing. As we hang up our summer staples, we start to think about what we need to buy for the fall season. For me, fall fashion is my favorite time of year. As someone who’s always on the go, I can’t live without a trusty pair of jeans. I don’t think I’m ready to step into the skinny trend once again, but I recently tried on five different fits that will carry me through the next couple of months. I like to have fun with my style while simultaneously looking clean and put together. Below, I’ve shared some of my favorite denim styles out there right now that achieve just that. In addition to my perfectly curated collection of fall denim, I’ve also shared how I am styling each pair. The hope is that these looks will serve as your cheat sheet to easy and stylish fall dressing all season long.
