Mukesh Bhatt Calls Divya Khosla Kumar’s Savi vs Jigra Accusations A ‘Publicity Stunt’

Veteran filmmaker and producer Mukesh Bhatt has fired back at Divya Khosla Kumar’s claims that Jigra, starring his niece Alia Bhatt, copied the plot of her film Savi. In a recent interview, he dismissed the allegations as nothing more than a bid for media attention.

According to Mukesh, Divya’s public statements are purely strategic. “What Divya did for publicity, I don’t know about that,” he said, calling the controversy manufactured. He insisted that Jigra didn’t originate from Savi, instead, he claimed Jigra draws from Mahesh Bhatt’s 1993 film Gumrah, which itself was influenced by the story Bangkok Hilton.

Mukesh particularly defended Alia, saying she “is too big for this” kind of drama. “Alia Bhatt is a major star. She doesn’t need to steal ideas from my films,” he noted. He described the controversy as “cheap behaviour,” saying Alia doesn’t have to “stoop” to such tactics.

Beyond the plagiarism claims, Divya has also alleged that Jigra inflated its box-office numbers by buying tickets, sharing a picture of an apparently empty theatre as evidence. But Mukesh rejected these as well, framing them as part of the attention-grabbing narrative.

He pushed back hard against what he saw as a calculated attempt to pull a big name into a row. “When you drag a bigger name into something, a controversy is bound to spark,” he said, but maintained that Alia “would never stoop to such a level.”

Mukesh also responded to the story origins more broadly. He noted that for Savi, he acquired the rights to The Next Three Days, the Russell Crowe film, and reversed the gender dynamic for his version. Meanwhile, he has yet to personally watch Jigra, which he says leaves room for misunderstanding.

This isn’t the first time the feud has gotten loud. Divya publicly challenged Alia’s team, accusing them of buying tickets and announcing false box-office figures. She even fired back at Karan Johar, who had posted a cryptic message that many interpreted as a response to her claims.

Mukesh’s strong rebuttal underlines the deep tensions around the controversy, not just about creative ownership, but about reputation, legacy, and how Bollywood’s public battles are often played out in the press. For now, his stance is clear: he believes the controversy was created for visibility, and he remains firmly in defense of his niece.

Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Gets J.J. Perry and All-Indian Stunt Team for Shoot

While most productions would batten down the hatches during Mumbai’s punishing monsoon season, the makers of “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups” are doing the opposite — leaning into the chaos with what’s being touted as one of Indian cinema’s most audacious action shoots to date.

At the eye of this creative storm is J.J. Perry, the Hollywood action architect behind the bone-crunching choreography of “John Wick” and “Fast & Furious.” The stunt veteran is currently deep into a 45-day action marathon that’s redefining the playbook for Indian cinema spectacle.

But here’s the kicker: Perry, who typically assembles international dream teams of stunt specialists, has gone fully local this time around — handpicking an entirely Indian crew after witnessing their chops firsthand.

“This Indian crew is world-class. That’s precisely why I chose to work with them,” Perry says. “We’re tackling a major sequence right now, and I’m super stoked about taking this on. It’s a challenge, but I love a great challenge — and this team is meeting it head-on. We’re here to push boundaries together — and that’s what filmmaking is.”

The high-octane sequence currently in production is the culmination of months of meticulous pre-production ballet between Perry, superstar Yash (who’s also producing), director Geetu Mohandas, VFX house DNEG, and producer Venkat K. Narayana. The Yash-Narayana combine has unlocked the massive war chest needed to mount one of the most Indian ambitious projects in recent memory.

The prep work reads like a masterclass in modern action filmmaking: extensive storyboarding, previz sessions, tactical rehearsals, and creative pow-wows aimed at creating an action language described by the production as “immersive, visceral, and new to Indian cinema.”

“Toxic” is positioning itself as a genre-bending spectacle that marries Perry’s globally-honed sensibilities with Yash’s box office magnetism and Mohandas’ distinctive auteur vision. Yash is white hot after the “K.G.F” franchise as is Mohandas, following Sundance title “Liar’s Dice” and Toronto selection “Moothon.” Yet beneath the pyrotechnics, the filmmakers are gunning for emotional resonance that transcends the visual fireworks.

“In my 35 years of doing this, I’ve worked in 39 countries. I’m a fan of Indian cinema — it’s creative, artistic, and bold,” Perry says. “Getting the chance to work with Yash, Geetu, Venkat and their incredible team has been a highlight. Geetu has great vision, and everyone from cinematographer Rajeev Ravi to the production designer and art team has been fantastic.”

The Mumbai shoot marks another industry first: “Toxic” is being lensed simultaneously in the Kannada and English languages — a bilingual approach that’s rare at this scale — with additional dubbed versions rolling out in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. The strategy positions the film not just as a pan-Indian event but as a legitimate global play.

“India’s culture is ancient, rich, and layered. As an American whose culture is only a few hundred years old, coming here and blending global cinematic grammar with Indian storytelling has been very exciting,” Perry notes. “I don’t just want to replicate what’s been done — I want to create something unique. And ‘Toxic’ is giving me that chance.”

Jointly bankrolled by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups” is targeting a worldwide theatrical rollout on March 19, 2026.

bitchy | A heckler called JD Vance a ‘couch f–ker’ at a stunt in DC’s Union Station

Washington DC is still being overrun by National Guardsmen and federal agents, and it’s just as pathetic and horrible as anyone can imagine. Apparently, the federal takeover of DC is crushing local businesses, especially bars, restaurants and anyone dealing with the tourist economy. Washington is being occupied by federal forces and no one feels safe at all. None of this is good from an optics perspective either – a huge show of force in an American city reeks of Trump’s thin-skinned weakness and small flaccid energy. Speaking of, Stephen Miller, JD Vance and the alcoholic predator/Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth decided to “treat” National Guardsmen to a meal at Shake Shack in Union Station. They were protested and heckled, and someone shouted, “oh look, it’s the couch f–ker!”

Well done to that guy, and to all of the protesters and hecklers. What Miller, Vance and Hegseth were doing was actually frightening though. They basically went outside, begged protestors to do something, and then used those protests to justify the hostile takeover and occupation of our nation’s capital. Miller’s rant (below) made my skin crawl. He looks, sounds and acts like a man who murders people in his spare time. I feel so bad for Washingtonians – stay strong and watch your backs.

Stephen Miller: “All these demonstrators that you’ve seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they’re not part of the city and never have been … we’re gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over… pic.twitter.com/v7Bj4pfEPW

Dhanashree Verma Breaks Silence on Divorce, Calls Chahal’s T-Shirt Stunt ‘Very Sad’

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and YouTuber-actor Dhanashree Verma finalised their divorce earlier this year, bringing an end to their five-year marriage. While Chahal has spoken about the split in several interviews, Verma had remained silent until now. In a candid conversation, she described the court proceedings as “emotional” and expressed her shock over Chahal’s much-discussed “T-shirt stunt” outside the court, where he was spotted wearing a tee that read: “Be your own sugar daddy.”

Speaking to Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree recalled, “I genuinely feel that the day it actually happened, it was very emotional for me and my family. I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given, even though you are so mentally prepared that it is going to happen, it was still so emotional. I literally started howling and crying in front of everybody. I cannot even express what I was feeling at that point of time.”

She added that she was unaware of Chahal’s T-shirt until later. “He walked out first, that whole thing happened with the T-shirt and media, and I wasn’t aware about it because I was still inside. I got out from the back gate because I was not liking that. It was just very sad, you don’t want cameras all over your face. Humko kuch nahi bataana tha, I was wearing normal t-shirt and jeans. I sat in the car, my best friend was there with me, and we were still trying to grasp our breath. It was that shaky moment, especially when you know people will blame you only.”

Dhanashree admitted she had anticipated being blamed even before the divorce was finalized. “Even before I knew about this T-shirt stunt, we were aware that people were going to hold me responsible for the divorce. In your head, you just want to move forward once it’s over. Until I took out my phone and saw it, I didn’t want to believe it. Ye sach mein isne aisa kiya? In that one second, I was like—it’s over. Why should I cry? Somewhere I felt bad, questioning myself—main kyu ro rahi thi? For this? That was the motivation I needed: I just had to laugh it out. In fact, that helped me. Everybody saw me in the courthouse… the way I was howling and crying. In moments like that, everything just flashes through your mind.”

When told that Chahal’s podcast remarks sounded like a final message to her, she quipped, “Arre bhai, WhatsApp kardeta!”

Chahal, meanwhile, had earlier defended his choice of T-shirt in a podcast with Raj Shamani. “I just felt like I wanted to give one message and I did that. Because something had happened from the other end… I didn’t want to do it earlier but then something happened and I decided, now everyone can go to hell, I will do what I want,” he said.

The couple filed for divorce in February 2024, with proceedings concluding this year. Following the split, Dhanashree faced intense trolling online, including allegations of infidelity, while Chahal has since been linked to content creator RJ Mahvash.
