The Dark Side Of Hollywood: Sydney Sweeney’s Unbelievable Story! | Glamsham.com

Actress Sydney Sweeney has spoken out about the pressures she experienced early in her career, with the actress stating that she was once asked to take Botox in her teenage years. Speaking with Variety, the Euphoria star revealed how a professional in the industry advised her to “fix” her face if she were to make it in Hollywood, with the actress stating that she was advised to alter her natural facial features.

“I have really strong eyebrow muscles,” Sweeney said. “And I once had someone say to me, ‘Fix your face or you’re not going to make it.’ I should get Botox. I was 16!” The actress also mentioned another annoying early experience: “I’m in a casting, reading my scene, and the casting director is munching on a bag of potato chips. I’m like, ‘You’re not even listening at all.’

In spite of the discouragement, Sweeney has become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand young stars. With standout roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, she has made a name for herself by selecting emotionally layered and frequently divisive performances. “I find myself gravitating towards characters that are stereotypically unlikable,” she told us. “I like to challenge an audience to have empathy for that person.”

Mike White, the author of The White Lotus, has credited Sweeney with her effortless acting talent and charisma. “There was something very offhand about her,” he explained. “She was very charming, and I thought that would serve the part because the character was so unlikeable on paper. When you’re editing, you notice she just jumps out on screen. My attention always went to her, regardless of who’s in the scene.”. That’s natural screen magnetism that’s difficult to measure.

Filmmaker Paul Feig, who has worked with Sweeney, echoed White’s admiration, describing her as exceptionally confident and media-savvy. “She’s probably one of the most confident people I’ve ever met — in a good way,” Feig said. “She’s very smart about publicity and social media. As we’re getting ready to promote, we’ll say, ‘Let’s do this, it’s the hot trend on TikTok right now,’ and she’ll say, ‘No, that was last month. Here’s the hot trend.’”

Sweeney’s tale brings to light the pressures put on young women in Hollywood as well as her strength in overcoming them. She is only 28, yet she continues to make room for the rich female character and shows the world that authenticity, rather than conformity, is what will really make a star.

It’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month — This Is My Story From Survival To Safe Horizon

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Warning: This story contains graphic details of domestic violence.

I will never forget the night that finally made me leave. My ex-partner and I were at an event with friends. Everything seemed fine until he — as he often did — switched from affectionate to enraged without warning. Throughout the night, he sent me cryptic texts: “I’m watching you. You’ll see what happens when we get home.”

The venue was dark and crowded, which allowed him to hide in the shadows. When he finally appeared, I was already in tears. I told him I was done. He grabbed me so tightly I could barely breathe, whispering, “You’ll never leave me.” When I tried to escape, he threw me to the ground and began kicking me—my face, my stomach, my back. I remember praying, “God, please help me get through this.” A friend eventually pulled him off me, and another rushed me outside.

That night, I ran to my sister’s apartment. My best friend joined us, and together they convinced me to call my mother. I didn’t want to; I had been hiding so much from my family, and I knew calling meant going to the hospital and filing a report. I also feared what my ex had always threatened: “If you send me to jail, I’ll kill myself.”

When my mom saw my bruised face over FaceTime, she broke down. At the hospital, I was surrounded by police officers and doctors, forced to retell the story again and again. Even then, I tried to protect him—until I learned he and his mother lied to the police, saying I’d fallen down stairs. That betrayal broke something in me. I told the truth. I filed for a restraining order, terrified but determined to protect myself.

When I met him, I was in a vulnerable place and searching for love, something I think now that he sensed. The control and manipulation started subtly—name-calling, jealousy, isolation. I was shocked, yes, but I took it because I convinced myself that he loved me. Then the emotional abuse became physical. I was constantly walking on eggshells, terrified of his next outburst. He would punch walls, throw objects, and then apologize, promising he’d never hurt me again. Like so many survivors, I stayed, believing he could change. I was in a constant state of hope—hope that the man I first met would return, hope that things would go back to “normal.” However, the truth is that there was never anything normal about it.

Domestic violence is not simply isolated or personal; it’s cultural, systemic, and global. It crosses every boundary: race, class, gender, and age.

The abuse only escalated from there. Over time, I became someone I didn’t recognize—isolated, anxious, and ashamed. He would push me against walls, crack drywall, and then threaten to harm himself to pull me back in. I remember breaking down locked doors to stop him from self-harming. Every time I thought of leaving, he’d promise to change—or promise to die.

After that final night, something inside me broke open. I started therapy and eventually found Safe Horizon through friends and family who told me about the work they do. It was the first time I felt truly ready to speak out.

I learned that my story was not unique, and that’s what makes it so devastating. Domestic violence is not simply isolated or personal; it’s cultural, systemic, and global. It crosses every boundary: race, class, gender, and age. The tactics abusers use are eerily similar: isolation, intimidation, emotional manipulation, and control.

Safe Horizon, the largest victim service nonprofit in the U.S., provides critical resources for survivors of abuse and violent crime. What drew me to them was their inclusive approach—they support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and more. Their Streetwork Project helps young people experiencing homelessness due to abuse, offering food, shelter, medical care, and compassion without judgment. They reach survivors wherever they are, meeting them with dignity and safety.

Too often, young women—especially Black women—don’t feel safe seeking help. We’re told to stay quiet, that no one will believe us, that leaving is pointless. And the question survivors hear most—“Why didn’t you just leave?”—is one of the most harmful. As FKA Twigs bravely shared when speaking about her own experience, that question blames the survivor instead of the perpetrator. Leaving isn’t simple—it’s dangerous. It’s layered with fear, shame, financial dependency, and psychological manipulation. Even after leaving, survivors face systemic challenges: renewing restraining orders, reliving trauma in court, and constantly looking over our shoulders.

Through Safe Horizon, I found healing, advocacy, and community. The organization’s leaders like Lisa A. O’Connor and Liz Roberts, create true safety by approaching survivors with empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence. Even small gestures—asking “Do you welcome hugs?”—remind survivors that we have autonomy again.

One of the most profound parts of my healing has been realizing that survival doesn’t mean the pain disappears. It means transforming it. As author and grief expert David Kessler wrote, I learned to turn my “pain into purpose”. I use my voice now to help others recognize the signs of abuse before it’s too late. Love should never make you smaller. Real love doesn’t silence, it protects and uplifts.

If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, reach out to Safe Horizon at 1-800-621-HOPE (4673) or visit safehorizon.org. There is a way out, and there are people here to help you find it.

Eliza McLamb: Good Story Album Review

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a conversation and realized you’re being fed a prewritten script? I recently caught up with a friend who had gone through several dramatic changes since we’d last spoken—a divorce, a new home, a new job—but no matter how much I politely pried, she kept giving me buzzwords: boundaries and self-care; yoga and gratitude and growth. Slowly, I realized that she’d known exactly what she’d tell me before I ever said hello: that clear, linear version of events she had learned to trot out, one that glossed over any disorderly details in service of premeditated lessons she now felt empowered to share.

On Eliza McLamb’s second album, Good Story, the singer-songwriter confronts this universal instinct to self-narrativize. “Catch it quick/Frame the image/Make your meaning before you’ve lived it,” she sings on “Mausoleum,” chiding herself for trying to nail down a story rather than inhabit her present experience. We’re all liable to these behaviors, but McLamb feels their pull acutely. On her debut album, 2024’s Going Through It, she excavated details of her childhood trauma and difficult relationships, topics she’s also tackled as a stirring essayist and podcaster, and learned how to package them as art. On Good Story, McLamb takes a step back, wondering what all these anecdotes add up to.

McLamb and her band—which includes Jacob Blizard (who’s played with Lucy Dacus); bassist Ryan Ficano; keyboardist Sarah Goldstone (who’s played with Chappell Roan and boygenius); and Death Cab For Cutie drummer Jason McGerr—construct this version of events on a solid indie-rock foundation. There are tinges of Lilith Fair pop-rock, especially in McLamb’s lilting delivery, and echoes of her contemporaries like Dacus and Soccer Mommy. But the tracklist takes gentle swerves that add depth and variety: “Better Song” ends with a minute-long, scorching guitar solo; at the close of the album’s A-side, the brief, subdued “Promise”—all gentle vocals and finger-picked guitar—is immediately followed by “Water Inside the Fence,” a continuous build of creeping anxiety that ends with screeching feedback and pounding drums.

How accurate is Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere? True story explained

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

There tends to be two distinct approaches a director can take when making a music biopic: a career-spanning story that touches on every aspect of the musician’s life or a more focused tale honing in on one particular chapter in extra detail.

Scott Cooper’s new film Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere – which stars Jeremy Allen White – opts for the latter option, chronicling the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska and exploring some of the personal issues he was facing at that time, some of which were rooted in childhood trauma.

“I wanted to keep the timeframe as tight and narrow as possible,” Cooper explained during an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com. “It’s really only a few months of Bruce’s life.

“But I felt if I told the story well, then people would get a better understanding of Bruce Springsteen, paradoxically, then if I had told a cradle to kind of present day narrative.”

Read on to find out just how accurate the portrayal of this period is.

How accurate is Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere? True story explained

Cooper based his script on the non-fiction book of the same name by Warren Zanes, and so the film largely sticks to true events as they happened – albeit with the usual condensing (and a couple of fictional additions) that we usually see in films of this time.

The bulk of the narrative presents events truthfully: it is true that Springsteen recorded Nebraska in cassette tapes in his home and wanted to keep this stripped back sound for the finished record, while it’s also true that the record label – Columbia – had some reservations about the album and had to be persuaded of its merits by Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau (Jeremy Strong).

Meanwhile a number of other small details are true. For example, Springsteen really did get the title of his landmark hit Born in the USA from a Paul Schrader script and recorded the song in the middle of the Nebraska sessions before initially shelving it.

Furthermore, the scene in which Bruce breaks down in a therapist’s office after being told by Landau he needed to seek professional help is based on a story Springsteen himself told in his 2016 memoir Born to Run.

Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau in Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere 20th Century Studios

Springsteen also at times had a difficult relationship with his father – who was an alcoholic and bipolar – and he has gone on the record to praise Stephen Graham’s performance in the film, telling BBC Radio 2: “Stephen’s such an incredible actor and he just immediately inhabited my father’s physicality and inner emotion. He captured my dad’s struggles and spirit really well.”

Indeed, Springsteen has generally been very enthusiastic in his praise for the film, suggesting that it is – on the whole – a fairly accurate portrayal of his life.

However. one fictional aspect is the character of Faye Romano (Odessa Young), Springsteen’s lover in the film who is not based on any one real person but is rather a composite character inspired by various women in the singer’s life.

“I kind of just approached her like any fictitious character,” Young explained of Faye during an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com. “There were some references in Deliver Me from Nowhere – in Warren Zanes’s book – and there were some references in Bruce’s memoir to people that he dated, or women that he knew – no one specific but just like little mentions.

“So I kind of mined that for some information, and also just Scott’s script. You know, Scott had a vision of Faye, and that was very real on the page. So I got really lucky that I just got a good script and a well-written character.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is now showing in UK cinemas.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story slammed by Anthony Perkins’s son

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Osgood Perkins, the son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins, has criticised the latest season of Ryan Murphy’s true crime series Monster.

Speaking to TMZ, the Longlegs and The Monkey director admitted he hasn’t seen Monster: The Ed Gein Story but “wouldn’t watch it with a 10-foot pole”.

He also condemned streaming platforms for taking the true crime genre and attempting to give it “glamorous and meaningful content”, adding that he worries about contemporary culture being “reshaped in real time by overlords”.

One of the show’s subplots centres around Osgood’s late father Anthony (played by Joey Pollari) and depicts the actor being cast as the Gein-inspired character Norman Bates in Sir Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 movie Psycho.

Following its debut, Monster season 3 received backlash for hinting at a link between Perkins and Gein, because of the actor’s decision to keep his sexuality private during his lifetime.

Perkins added that the genre as a whole is “increasingly devoid of context and that the Netflix-isation of real pain is playing for the wrong team”.

While the star’s sexuality was an open secret among Hollywood, he remained married to Osgood’s mother Berry Berenson until his death from AIDS aged 60 in 1992.

The inclusion of Anthony Perkins isn’t the only storyline strand to have received backlash following Monster season 3’s debut, with its portrayal of Gein’s connection with Ted Bundy, his relationship to Adeline Watkins, and the show’s version of Evelyn Hartley’s disappearance also having come under fire from some viewers.

Gein star Charlie Hunnam previously defended the show’s divisive depiction of the titular serial killer, telling The Hollywood Reporter that he doesn’t agree the series sensationalises the killer’s crimes.

“I never felt on set that we did anything gratuitous or for shock impact,” he said. “It was all in order to try to tell this story as honestly as we could.”

He also questioned whether Gein is the real monster of the show, or whether it’s the audience for watching the series.

“Is it Ed Gein who was abused and left in isolation and suffering from undiagnosed mental illness and that manifested in some pretty horrendous ways? Or was the monster the legion of filmmakers that took inspiration from his life and sensationalised it to make entertainment and darken the American psyche in the process?” he asked.

“Is Ed Gein the monster of this show, or is Hitchcock the monster of the show? Or are we the monster of the show because we’re watching it?”

Monster: The Ed Gein Story is now streaming on Netflix – sign up for Netflix from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.

The trailer of Jassi Weds Jassi is finally out, and it’s serving up a perfect mix of nostalgia, laughter, and chaos! Set in the charming town of Haldwani during the late 90s, the film takes audiences back to a simpler time when love bloomed over stolen glances, cassette dedications, and landline calls but this time, one innocent mix-up turns romance into riotous confusion.

Jassi Weds Jassi Trailer Out!

At the heart of the story is Jassi, played by Harshhvardhan Singh Deo, a hopeless romantic who believes he’s finally found the love of his life. His Jassi, portrayed by Rehmat Rattan, is sweet, sensible, and everything he’s ever dreamed of until fate introduces another Jassi into the mix, setting off a chain of hilarious misunderstandings. What follows is a comedy of errors where hearts collide, tempers flare, and wedding bells hang in the balance!

Adding to the madness are an ensemble of colourful characters Ranvir Shorey as the well-meaning but forever frazzled lover trying to make sense of it all, Sikandar Kher as the charming troublemaker who adds fuel to the confusion, Manu Rishi Chadha as the strict law enforcer and a hopeless romantic with a bag full of advice (most of it wrong), Sudesh Lehri bringing in his signature humour, and Grusha Kapoor as the strong, over-laad pyaar wali matriarch holding the chaos together.

Sharing his thoughts on the film, Sikandar Kher says, “Sometimes, one name can turn a love story into a comedy of errors and that’s exactly what makes Jassi Weds Jassi so much fun. It’s emotional, funny, and very real. I had a gala time shooting for this mad mad film ”

Ranvir Shorey adds, “It’s that kind of story where a small mix-up snowballs into complete madness. Truly, one name can turn a blooming love story into a comedy of errors and that’s the beauty of it, I have always enjoyed working on such films where one can rewatch and relaugh again and again”

HarshhVardhan Singh Deo, who leads the film, shares, “This film captures the innocence of first love and the chaos that comes with it. It’s about how one name can turn a love story into a comedy of errors and that’s what makes it unforgettable.”

Directed by Paran Bawa, Jassi Weds Jassi stars Harshhvardhan Singh Deo, Rehmat Rattan, Ranvir Shorey, Sikandar Kher, Manu Rishi Chadha, Sudesh Lehri, and Grusha Kapoor.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Review: A Story Of Passionate Love | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Details
Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat” is a love story that, true to its title, is based on one-sided, passionate love. The film gives its audience the feel of 90s films, filled with the colors of love, affection, and passion. Harshvardhan Rane plays a politician, while Sonam Bajwa plays a successful actress.

Story

The film revolves around Vikramaditya Bhosale (Harshvardhan Rane), the son of a powerful and influential politician, who is also a politician. His influence in the city is so strong that even the Chief Minister offers him his seat. Vikram sets his sights on Bollywood star Ada Randhawa (Sonam Bajwa) and falls in love with her. Aditya is determined to win her. But for Ada, Vikram is just another arrogant man, and she doesn’t love him.

When Vikram gives Ada an ultimatum to marry him within a month, and begins using all means necessary to force her to marry him, Ada is shaken to her core. She stands up to Vikram and retaliates with a vengeance. To find out Ada’s response, watch the film, as this is the turning point in the film, when a heroine stands up to a powerful politician and confronts him face to face.

Acting

The pairing of Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa has been completely successful in portraying the intensity of love and hate. Harshvardhan Rane has won the hearts of the audience with his performance as Vikramaditya, while Sonam Bajwa has impressed the audience with her performance as Ada. Both of their strong performances are a strong point of the film. Some of the other supporting roles are also good, but none have much to do except for a few isolated scenes.

Music

The film’s music is one of its biggest highlights. Songs like “Tere Dil Par Haq Mera Hai,” “Bol Kafaara Kya Hoga,” “Dil Dil Dil Dil,” and “Mera Hua” suit the film and its story. The songs have already been a success. The background music also suits the story and the scenes.

Writing and Direction

The film is directed by Milap Zaveri, while the story has been co-written by Milap Zaveri and Mushtaq Sheikh. The film’s story has many twists and turns, surprising at times. The first half of the film is good, with good dialogues that will make even frontbenchers clap. However, the story loses its grip after the interval. Many scenes after the interval seem unnecessary, while some seem over-the-top or illogical. However, the film’s direction is good. Directed by Milap Zaveri, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat seems successful in providing the audience with a romantic thriller experience.

Overall

“Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat” is a film that showcases the colors of love, affection, and passion. The pairing of Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa is excellent. The film’s music and direction also work in its favor. If you’re looking for a romantic thriller, “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat” is a good one.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Review

Milap Milan Zaveri’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is a story we’ve seen time and time again in Bollywood just repackage with some stellar acting chops. The premise is simple – an entitled brat belonging to a rich and powerful family – who thinks he can buy the world, falls obsessively in love with a strong woman and crosses all limits to make her his. But does he succeed? Does the strong woman give into his relentless courtship or does she stand strong and take a stand? Well, that’s all EDKD is all about, punctuated with well placed songs and narrative that would have being a money maker in the 80s and 90s.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat tells the obsessive love story that follows when politician Vikramaditya (Harshvardhan Rane) gets captivated with the beauty of leading Bollywood star Adaa (Sonam Bajwa) and decides she will become his wife. From clearing her schedule to make sure she spends time with him to approaching her family with shagun while telling them about the soon-to-take place marriage, this loving and community serving politician moves mountains and sees to make the female fall for him. However, she’s a strong woman who has a mind of her own and sticks to ‘NO’ is a statement. Will they have a happily ever after – like we’ve seen in 100s of films in the past, despite the ‘hero’s’ obsession increasing?

Read our review to know if the film is worth watching in theatres.

What Works

The actor’s face cards and Harshvardhan’s acting talent

What Doesn’t Work

Every thing aside from the lead actor’s acting and the manner in which the songs are incorporated into he story.

Conclusion

Skip this movie and save your money – you can burn it in another manner if you want by gambling or buying crackers, and time. While Harshvardhan and to a certain extent Sonam’s performances are strong, the problematic story is regressive, misleading and something that doesn’t belong in 2025.

‘Hello Betty,’ True Story Behind a Swiss Icon, Boarded by Picture Tree

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Berlin-based sales company Picture Tree Intl. has acquired worldwide sales rights including Germany and Austria from C-Films to “Hello Betty,” the upcoming feature from director Pierre Monnard, who also directed “Winter Palace,” the first Swiss series co-produced by Netflix.

The film centers on the true story of Emmi Creola, the visionary advertising pioneer who created the Swiss culinary icon Betty Bossi in 1956 — a fictional figure who went on to become a household name across generations and language regions in Switzerland.

“Hello Betty,” which stars Sarah Spale, portrays a woman navigating ambition, creativity and the limitations of a male-dominated society. What began as a clever marketing idea became a cultural phenomenon, shaping the way a nation cooked and viewed modern domesticity.

Producer Peter Reichenbach of C-Films said, “Everyone in Switzerland knows Betty Bossi. This film finally tells the story of the brilliant woman behind the name. It’s a story with humor, heart, and universal resonance.”

“ ‘Hello Betty’ is a rare mix of strong emotional storytelling and commercial accessibility,” added Andreas Rothbauer, managing director of Picture Tree Intl. “It has all the ingredients to travel widely — a charismatic female lead, a fascinating real-life story, and broad audience appeal.”

The film will premiere on Nov. 4, 2025, and will be released nationwide across all language regions of Switzerland starting Nov. 20, through Ascot Elite Entertainment.

“Hello Betty” is produced by C-Films in co-production with SRF Swiss Radio and Television, SRG SSR and CH Media TV AG, with support from the Federal Office of Culture, Zurich Filmfund, Cinéforom, Loterie Romande, Stage Pool Focal/Ernst Göhner Foundation and Suissimage, in collaboration with Ascot Elite Entertainment.
