Purpose keeps people: 92% of employees say they would stay longer at companies that support giving back

by jummy84 November 26, 2025
written by jummy84

New research from CTW Events reveals that staff loyalty, wellbeing and workplace culture are increasingly being shaped by a single factor: purpose.

The 2025 survey conducted this autumn shows overwhelming demand for workplace volunteering, with over nine in ten (92%) saying they are more likely to stay with a company that actively supports team volunteering, and 85% reporting that taking part in volunteering through work boosts their overall job satisfaction.

As businesses plan for 2026, the message is clear: corporate volunteering is no longer a nice-to-have, it has become essential to keeping people engaged, connected and committed.

The survey also highlights a major shift in how employees want to spend time with their colleagues. While traditional team socials still play a role, 83% say they are more likely to participate in team building if it has a meaningful social or environmental impact, and 92% believe purpose-led activities strengthen relationships more than traditional events.

Three quarters of respondents (76%) said they would welcome more opportunities to take part in volunteering through their work, with 87% saying they would be more likely to volunteer if the process was easier.

Since 2012, CTW Events has mobilised 237,000 hours of team‑building to build and distribute 6.3 million kits via 1,000+ charity partners worldwide. In 2024, the company delivered 1,550 global events – an incredible 300% increase on 2023 – which supports the survey findings that employee demand for purpose-led team building events is increasing sharply.

From community support projects to disaster relief kit builds, employees are demanding experiences that strengthen teams and boost morale while directly helping people in need, bridging the gap between employee passion and employer action.

Madison Ayache, Vice President at CTW Events, says: “Employees are asking for purpose, and they’re asking loud and clear. These findings show that workplace volunteering isn’t just good for communities, it lifts wellbeing, strengthens team bonds and directly influences retention.

“When companies make giving back accessible, engagement soars. Purpose drives performance, and in 2026, organisations that embrace this will be the ones that thrive.”

As workplace culture continues to evolve, CTW Events says the findings should act as a clear call to action: Employees want to contribute. With workplace volunteering now proven to influence satisfaction, loyalty and culture, the challenge for businesses is no longer whether to act, but how quickly they can embed purpose into everyday working life.

6 Nutritionst & Dietician Tips To Stay Healthy This Winter

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

If you’re reading this, you’re likely feeling a little under the weather—or at least, you know you will be soon. Be it a lingering tiredness, a tickle in the back of your throat, or a nose that resembles an open tap, sick season is officially upon us.

Outside of stocking up on zinc-rich foods (an essential mineral for healthy immune function) and getting enough sleep, there are a couple of other expert-approved ways to ward off the winter lurgy. Here, three nutritionists share their best advice for staying well, from smart supplements to fortified gut health.

1. Prioritize antioxidants

“Some nutrients support the optimal functioning of immune cells, like vitamin C,” says W-Wellness nutritional therapist Maz Packham. “It’s a powerful antioxidant that’s needed for our white blood cells to defend the body against infection.”

Her suggested sources of vitamin C include:

  • Kiwis
  • Citrus fruits like lemons and limes
  • Berries
  • Peppers

2. Think color

When in doubt, add in as much (natural) color as possible to your daily diet. Fruits, vegetables, and plants like red cabbage, pumpkin, and squash are rich in immune-supporting nutrients like vitamin C, beta carotene, and zinc, says nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner Farzanah Nasser.

She likes to mix things up by incorporating pumpkin into delicious loaves of bread, adding root vegetables to soups made with bone broth and taking advantage of the antiviral nature of matcha.

3. Stock up on vitamin D

Low levels of vitamin D are linked to increased susceptibility to infection, along with low mood and fatigue, Packham describes. “Include oily fish and eggs in your diet and consider supplementing with a vitamin D supplement,” she advises. Because of winter’s limited sunlight and the fact that we get very small amounts through our diet, a good quality supplement can be an efficient way to boost levels.

4. Focus on fiber

For top marks, aim to eat 30g of fiber per day. “Fiber helps nourish our gut microbiome, which trains our immune cells and keeps us healthy,” Nasser explains. “Up to 80% of the immune system lives in the gut—including more fiber is a really simple way to look after your immunity.”

New Orleans Guide: Where to Stay, Eat, Drink, and Revel in the Big Easy

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Opened in June 2025, this contemporary Asian restaurant by Chef Ashwin Vilkhu is a love letter to family dinners from his childhood growing up in New Orleans. The Farouki Farouki interiors are inspired by golden hour in his family’s home where he learned to cook, and the restaurant is named after the street his family lived after they moved from New Delhi to New Orleans in the 1980s. The four-course dinner takes guests on a sensory tour of his most cherished flavors, including the crab, brie, and Champagne soup, which pairs beautifully with a crémant.

For an easygoing snack and drink, head for Bar Pomona in the Marigny. The interiors read like a countryside diner (in the best way) and on Mondays they serve up lasagna alongside natural wines from regions such as the Jura and Savoie.

If you’re not already a tiki cocktail convert, this is the place to try it. The founder, Jeff Berry, is credited with reviving vintage tiki cocktails to their original glory in the 1990s, and the menu weaves together premium spirits with compelling flavors like anise, pandan leaf extract, and almond.

Rightfully earning its position on The New York Times’s 2024 Best New Restaurants list, this seafood-driven Mexican spot in the Bywater neighborhood is in a league of its own. Co-owned by sisters and Mexico City natives Ana and Lydia Castro (the former a James Beard Award-nominated chef), Acamaya is one of the most exciting new additions to New Orleans’s storied hospitality scene. There’s no point giving ordering advice here—everything on the menu is just that good.

Caribbean flavors meet Cuban heritage at this French Quarter mainstay that’s helmed by executive chef Alfredo Nogueira. The bar has been open for over a decade, but each visit offers something new thanks to its seasonal approach to ingredients. The cocktail menu is sensational (first-timers should get the classic Hurricane & Table) and flavorful dishes like the sweet plantains and fish rundown complement each other from start to finish.

A New Orleans fine dining classic, Brennan’s has been an institution since opening in 1946. The restaurant is credited with inventing the flaming dessert, Bananas Foster, which is theatrically prepared table side and worth a visit for alone (though it’s worth mentioning the Eggs St. Charles on the brunch menu are to die for).

Perched on a quiet corner along Magazine Street, this uptown restaurant sits in a 19th-century building that once sold provisions like butter, fresh cream, and imported teas. The menu is helmed by James Beard Award-winner Chef Justin Devillier and offers a creative, contemporary spin on traditional New Orleans cuisine. Whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the blue crab beignets.

There are few culinary experiences in New Orleans more stimulating than the tasting menu at Emeril’s. Celebrity Chef Emeril Lagasse opened the flagship restaurant in 1990 and it’s now deftly guided by his son E.J. Lagasse. Expect it all—a lavish butter cart, Petrossian caviar, the finest and freshest Louisiana meats and produce—all savored within an elegant dining room designed with floor-to-ceiling glass that showcases the kitchen in its entirety, which you get a mini tour of at the beginning of your evening. (Might we suggest opting for the wine pairing with your tasting menu?)

There’s no such thing as the best po’boy in the city—there are too many fine contenders, each offering their own standout style. While Liuzza’s by the Track, Domilise’s, and Parkway Bakery & Tavern are worthy shout-outs for this Louisiana classic, Verti Marte is an undeniable top pick. Don’t expect to be seated—this is a cash-only deli in the French Quarter. But what it lacks in table space, it more than makes up for in flavor.

Anushka Shetty swears by yoga to stay fit: On her 44th birthday, check top 7 weight loss asanas like surya namaskar

Anushka Shetty – known for Telegu films such as Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty – celebrated her 44th birthday on November 7. So, what keeps her looking ageless and fit? You guessed it: yoga! The Tollywood star swears by the ancient Indian practice, crediting it for transforming her life. Also read | Pooja Batra’s fitness secrets for toned body at 49: Mixed martial arts, yoga, pranayama, hiking

Happy birthday, Anushka Shetty! Check out what she said about yoga. (Instagram/ Anushka Shetty)

Over the years, the actor has spoken about her health and fitness in interviews and social media posts, sharing that one of the most consistent aspects of her fitness journey has been yoga. In a June 2017 Instagram post, Anushka Shetty said, “Most memorable moment in my Life is when I took the decision to teach Yoga. I come from a family of doctors and engineers. It was a brave decision on my side to go for yoga, but it has totally changed my life and is responsible for everything now.”

If you usually skip yoga for a high-intensity workout, thinking it will be more of a calorie burner, then you might not be entirely correct. If you are wondering if yoga can help with weight loss, in an August 2024 interview with HT Lifestyle, Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, shared some effective asanas for weight loss and weight management.

However, Himalayan pointed out that yoga alone won’t burn enough calories to reduce weight: “It’s important to note that while asanas can boost your metabolic rate and support weight management, they should be combined with a balanced diet and overall healthy lifestyle for optimal results.”

That said, here are seven asanas he recommended that are designed to boost your metabolism and support weight management. Try incorporating them into your routine:

1. Surya namaskar (Sun salutation)

This dynamic sequence of postures is a full-body workout that engages multiple muscle groups and elevates your heart rate. The flowing movements, combined with deep breathing, increase your body’s oxygen consumption and calorie burn, ultimately boosting your metabolic rate.

2. Chaturanga dandasana (Plank pose)

This powerful asana engages your entire body, particularly your core muscles, arms, and legs. Holding the plank position for an extended period can increase muscle tone, improve posture, and rev up your metabolism.

3. Virabhadrasana (Warrior pose)

The warrior poses, such as Virabhadrasana I, II, and III, challenge your lower body strength and engage your core muscles. These poses help build lean muscle mass, which in turn increases your resting metabolic rate, allowing you to burn more calories even when at rest.

4. Bhujangasana (Cobra pose)

This backbend asana targets your abdominal muscles, stimulating digestion and boosting your metabolic rate. Additionally, it strengthens your back muscles, improving overall posture and core strength.

5. Adho mukha svanasana (Downward-facing dog pose)

This inversion pose engages multiple muscle groups, including your arms, shoulders, legs, and core. It not only strengthens your body but also promotes better circulation and lymphatic drainage, which can aid in weight management.

6. Navasana (Boat pose)

This challenging asana targets your abdominal muscles, engaging your core and promoting better posture. By strengthening your core, you can improve your overall metabolic efficiency and burn more calories throughout the day.

7. Halasana (Plow pose)

This inverted asana stimulates the thyroid gland, which plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism. Additionally, it stretches and tones the abdominal muscles, contributing to better digestion and improved metabolic function.

Yoga is not just a physical practice; it’s a holistic approach to wellness. Combine it with a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, and you’ll be on your way to achieving your fitness goals and maintaining overall well-being. Only doing yoga to stay healthy? Study says it may not be enough

If you are relying only on yoga to support your health, you may be in the dark. Study shines light on what is the best approach, instead.

Are you doing yoga as the only form of exercise? While it has considerable benefits for flexibility and mindfulness, it’s still not enough for being fit, as per a study published in the journal of Advances in Integrative Medicine. While it is not downplaying yoga’s benefits, it does shift the narrative that yoga may not be enough to support overall health.

Yoga is good for flexibility, but it may not be enough to maintain good health. (Picture credit: Shutterstock)

Is yoga not enough?

Good heart health is one of the key pillars of wellbeing. Now, for cardiovascular health, the blood vessels’ flexibility is crucial, preventing heart disease, hypertension and clotting issues. Furthermore, blood vessels’ efficiency is fundamental for the entire body’s functioning as they carry blood and oxygen to different parts and organs.

The researchers examined yoga’s cardiovascular value, comparing it to other exercises like Pilates, Tai Chi, and high-intensity interval training. As per the study’s findings, traditional exercises are relatively more reliable for enhancing arterial flexibility. The results of yoga’s heart benefits are more or less inconsistent. It works more for older adults instead of the younger population.

HIIT exercises like burpees, mountain climbers, and squat jumps all increase the heart rate, helping to improve arterial flexibility.
HIIT exercises like burpees, mountain climbers, and squat jumps all increase the heart rate, helping to improve arterial flexibility.

Pair yoga with vigorous exercise

Yoga is widely celebrated and deeply rooted in culture because of its traditional history. It is especially helpful for older adults who may not be able to participate in vigorous activities or high-intensity exercises. Despite yoga being gentle, the researchers advocate for yoga because, at the end of the day, movement is movement, far better than remaining sedentary. The researchers instead urged for a balanced approach where yoga is included as a part of a wider workout routine, rather than being the sole exercise one does in a day.

Akshay Kumar Advices Newcomers To Stay Away From 3 Films Deals; Tells Karan Johar

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Akshay Kumar shared his insights on the challenges faced by newcomers in the film industry, particularly warning against signing three-film contracts early in their careers. He praised Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, for humorously highlighting these issues and bringing attention to the pitfalls that rookies should avoid.

Akshay Kumar Warns Newcomers Not To Sign 3 Films With One Producer

During his candid remarks, Akshay advised aspiring actors to be cautious and not to rush into long-term deals with producers. He specifically emphasised that new actors should steer clear of signing three-film contracts at the outset, as such commitments can sometimes backfire.

Referring to Aryan Khan’s The Ba***ds of Bollywood, Akshay stated, “I want to tell all the newcomers and upcoming talents—never sign a three-film deal with any producer.” He continued, “You must have seen The Ba*ds of Bollywood and seen what our hero had to go through. The film clearly shows what a debutant should and shouldn’t do.”

Turning his advice toward Karan Johar, Akshay added, “Don’t sign a three-movie deal. Give your debutants the freedom to explore. Let them run away if they want to. As the saying goes, ‘Let them be free, and if they belong to you, they will come back.’”

About Ba***ds Of Bollywood

Aryan Khan makes his directorial debut with The Ba***ds of Bollywood on Netflix. Produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment, the series features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Lakshya Lalwani, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, and Manish Chaudhari. bitchy | Day 4 of ‘Duchess Meghan went to Paris’: how dare she stay at the Plaza Athenee

by jummy84 October 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Almost one year ago exactly, the Duchess of Sussex wore a red dress to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Gala. The Carolina Herrera dress was actually a repeat – she had worn the exact same dress with a big, flouncy, detachable train a few years prior. Meghan looked sleek and pretty at the 2024 event, she sat at one of the central tables and she had a lovely night out for charity. The British tabloids had a multi-week meltdown over it. In my coverage, I noted that we were on Day 4, Day 5, Day 6 of the “Meghan wore a red dress” controversy. They were STILL complaining about it two months later.

Well, you see where I’m going with this “remember when” story. Meghan’s Paris Fashion Week appearance has got ‘em shook. They’re panicked and angry and confused. How could she look so good? How could she be welcomed in Paris? Why isn’t she begging to come back to the UK? Why does she live in a California mansion? How could Anna Wintour greet her with such friendliness? How can we make Meghan’s Balenciaga experience into something nasty and unpleasant? Well, the Daily Mail did a double-whammy. They contacted some PR experts to analyze Meghan’s PFW appearance, and they also got Amanda Platell to write a nasty column.

According to multiple PR experts, Meghan’s appearance this weekend wasn’t one that was perfectly executed – in fact, it seemed far from it.

‘Paris Fashion Week was Megan’s deliberate re-entry into the cultural elite,’ Sarah Schmidt, President of Interdependence Public Relations, told Daily Mail exclusively. Schmidt shared that Meghan is ‘showing that she’s creating a brand and legacy on her own without the royal rule book.’

But the event she chose to attend may not have been the right choice, according to the expert. ‘This move signals ambition and independence, but the execution was tone deaf,’ Schmidt told Daily Mail. ‘Balenciaga’s shadow still lingers and aligning with this controversy undercuts her credibility,’ she continued. The luxury brand came under fire in 2022 for its campaign, which featured children holding teddy bears that were outfitted in bondage-style leather outfits.

‘For a public figure who’s tied her brand to compassion and advocacy, association matters. It was the right stage, wrong storyline,’ Schmidt said. ‘The goal for her brand moving forward will be credibility and consistency, not contradiction.’

[From The Daily Mail]

How convenient that the Mail found a “PR expert” who parroted one of the central criticisms featured in the Mail! “But Balenciaga had a controversy a few years ago!” And? The label has hired new people, including a new designer. This was Meghan helping Pierpaolo Piccioli and Balenciaga draw a line under the Demna Gvasalia era. As for Platell’s column, obviously she’s arguing that no one can ever do anything anywhere close to the Pont de l’Alma, where Princess Diana sustained fatal injuries in 1997. They’re really riding this lie that Meghan filmed “by” or “near” l’Alma, which she did not. From Platell’s column:

Does anyone really believe it was coincidence rather than cynical attention-seeking that Meghan’s first solo European trip as Duchess of Sussex was a visit to Paris? The romantic city that Princess Diana loved above all, and the one where she died? Or that it was mere happenstance, after Megs attended a Balenciaga fashion show, that she filmed then posted on social media the late-night, chauffeur-driven journey along the Seine back to her hotel – a route parallel to the one taken on the other side of the river by Diana on the night of her fatal crash.

Why, of all the countless five-star luxury hotels in Paris, did Meghan choose to stay in the Hotel Plaza Athenee just four minutes from the Pont de l’Alma tunnel where Diana’s car crashed? These questions all leave us wondering whether Meghan’s Paris trip was a naked bid to invoke an echo of the mother-in-law she never met, to establish herself in some deluded way as the heir to Diana.

Did she have her Netflix crew in tow to record every moment? I wouldn’t put it past her. Shamefully, Meghan sent her 4.5million Instagram followers pictures of herself with her stilettoed feet up on the seat in the back of her minivan, hauntingly close to where the Princess died.

And this leads us to question of where Harry was during this PR disaster? Why was Meghan making a solo visit? Why, come to think of it, is the Prince appearing less and less in her social media posts, after having been virtually written out of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan? Was Prince Harry sulking at home feeding the organic chooks, unaware of the trip and his wife’s intentions? Surely even dim-witted Harry would have cautioned his wife a trip to Paris was an unwise move, likely to provoke ridicule and anger?

[From The Daily Mail]

Yeah, Meghan needs to sue all of these people. I know Harry’s trial against the Mail starts in a few months, but still. Sue these f–kers. “Why did she stay in a hotel close to the tunnel” Jesus Christ – the Hotel Plaza Athenee is one of the grandest hotels in Paris, it’s where most celebrities stay when they’re in town for PFW. This column, more than anything else, really shows how angry the British media is that Meghan went to Paris specifically, and even more specifically, to Paris Fashion Week. They’re incandescent with jealousy and trying to make the visit as toxic as possible so that she’ll never step foot in Paris again.

Ever wondered how celebrities stay toned during hectic shoots? Anant Ambani’s trainer Vinod Channa shares the secret behind their on-screen fitness.

We often marvel at how actors look perfectly toned and fit, even with gruelling shoot schedules and long hours on set. Celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa, who has guided stars like Anant Ambani and Nita Ambani on their fitness journeys, breaks down the secret behind their on-screen physiques in his September 16 Instagram post. Vinod Channa emphasizes that celebrity fitness is a year-round commitment involving disciplined diets and workouts.

How do celebrities stay fit during film shoots

“Celebrities stay fit during film shoots because they work really hard, consistently, over the years,” Channa explains. “This isn’t something that happens in a day. They work out throughout the year, which is why they look so fit for a specific movie.”

He adds, “On top of that, depending on the movie’s requirements, they start planning months in advance, sometimes 4-6 months before shooting. They follow strict diet-specific workouts to achieve the look needed for their character. And once they reach that physique, maintaining it is equally important, especially since shooting days can stretch up to 12 hours.”

What keeps them consistent during busy schedules

Channa further shares, “Whenever they get time, they make sure to work out and stick to a disciplined diet. Their meals don’t get compromised. This consistent effort allows them to match the character’s look perfectly, and that’s why the final result on screen looks flawless and earns appreciation from audiences.”

In short, celebrity fitness is not about last-minute efforts, it’s about dedication, consistency, and planning months ahead. According to Vinod, it’s this combination of hard work, discipline, and smart preparation that keeps stars looking camera-ready, no matter how demanding the shoot schedule.
