Unrivaled, TNT Sports Add Fourth Night of Games for 2026 Season

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Women’s basketball league Unrivaled is expanding in its second season — both in its number of teams and its TV footprint.

The 3-on-3 league, co-founded by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is adding a fourth night of games on TNT Sports for the coming season, which tips off Jan. 5. The league is also expanding to eight teams, up from six for its inaugural season earlier this year.

Games will air on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday throughout the eight-week season; TNT, TruTV and HBO Max will have the Friday and Monday contests, and Saturday and Sunday games will run on TruTV and HBO Max.

The additional night — last season didn’t have games on Sundays — allows Unrivaled to eliminate back-to-back games for its players. In the coming season, four teams will play on Friday and Sunday each week, and the other four will play on Saturday and Monday.

One of the things that I think our players credit us with the most is actually listening to them, and we want to keep them as healthy as humanly possible — not for not just for our league, but for the [WNBA] as well,” Unrivaled chief content officer John Learing told The Hollywood Reporter. “So when they did come to us and say that they would like us to consider ways to find some some some more [breaks in the schedule], it’s what our basketball ops team focused on probably more than anything in the offseason.”

TNT Sports’ Unrivaled telecasts will look somewhat different this season. Learing and TNT Sports executive vp and chief content officer Craig Barry told THR that the league’s purpose-built arena in Miami will feature more fans in the primary camera shots (last season, those shots were mostly of a large video wall) and bringing some more of TNT Sports’ long history televising basketball into the mix.

“We’re making a significantly larger contribution to the overall production presentation, because we want parity across all of our sports properties,” Barry told THR. “Not that it wasn’t good before — it just had room to grow and evolve.”

The changes to the arena setup are part of that, Barry noted: “The interesting thing about a small venue — especially a venue like that, where you have control of [the layout], the energy really is part of the primary driver of the presentation of the event. If you’ve been to that venue, the live energy is totally different while you’re there. The conversations that we’ve had [have focused on] the translation of that energy — we need to see it and feel it more through the screen.”

Unrivaled games averaged 221,000 viewers for TNT and TruTV simulcasts last season — a fraction of NBA or WNBA games on cable but a solid start for an entirely new league with a significantly different format (3-on-3 vs. 5-on-5) from other basketball leagues. Barry said the audience on TNT skewed about 60 percent female, significantly higher than for other women’s sports across linear TV.

“They’re finding their own audience, and they have a voice,” Barry said. “People are liking this product, and they’re going to find this league. That’s very reassuring when you’re creating something and looking for success.”

Unrivaled played all of its games in the 850-seat arena built for the league (and for TV production) last season, but it will on the road for one night in the coming season. On Jan. 30, two games (Breeze vs. Phantom and Rose vs. Lunar Owls) will take place at Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, home of the NBA’s 76ers. “I think it will be fascinating to see what this looks like in a giant arena,” said Learing.

He also said staying with TNT Sports for season two of Unrivaled was a “no-brainer” for the league. “We always wanted to stay. It made the most sense,” he said. “We’re a brand new league. We’re entering our second season, and I just think that we wanted to uncomplicate the search for our content as much as possible. And we already had the best partner we could imagine.”

Kevin Durant Shoots His Shot at Sports Host Kay Adams During Interview

NBA star Kevin Durant made a bold, unexpected move during a recent episode of Up & Adams — reaching out to host Kay Adams with what sounded like a flirtatious invite.

He suggested she make a trip to Houston to catch a Rockets game. “If you come down to Houston, which I’m expecting you to come to a game …” he said. But Adams was quick to call him on it: “I came to a game — you literally would not even wave.”

Durant tried to explain, stating he only realized she was there after hearing it on her show: “Which is crazy,” he added. When Adams pushed back further — “Kevin, I think I literally told you I was at the game, I said ‘See you tonight!’” — he attempted to pivot, saying, “It’s alright, we’re moving on … I’ll see you at one of these games in Houston.” He even sweetened the pitch: “We going for barbecue down in Texas when you get out here.”

Adams wasn’t having it. In her closing line, she delivered a blunt exit: “Fool me once, fool me twice.”

Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez has been hospitalized after he was reportedly stabbed on Friday night in Indianapolis.

The former NFL player is in “stable condition,” according to Fox, as he recovers ahead of Sunday’s game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” said Fox Sports in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

Sanchez was one of two injured people on a street in downtown Indianapolis, where police responded to a call around 12:30am, according to TMZ. The New York Jets alum was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The outlet reported that the other man involved in the incident suffered lacerations, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Although officials said it was an isolated incident, it was not immediately clear what led to the act of violence.

Sports Team cancel European dates as they “couldn’t justify the financial risk”

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Sports Team have cancelled some of their European dates due to not being able to “justify” the financial risks associated with putting on shows.

The band, who were meant to tour in European cities including Oslo, Berlin, Barcelona and Copenhagen this autumn, said that they will have to postpone some of these shows.

Announcing the news on Instagram, they shared that this is something that goes against “everything” they want to do, and apologised to fans for the impact of this decision.

“Cancelling shows goes against everything we want to do,” the statement said. “We’re a band because we love playing live. We once drove 24 hours through the night from London to get to a show in Munich. There were 12 people there and the next day we drove back to Birmingham for the next show. Nobody slept. Most of us cried. It was hell. I’d do it again tomorrow.

“We’ve done plenty of shows that haven’t made money. Touring as a six piece band is an extremely stupid business model. Normally we’re able to make things work, this time we couldn’t justify the financial risk.”

Sports Team confirmed they will still play Here’s The Thing Festival, Madrid, Paris and Antwerp, but said the “rest will have to come later”. All UK tour dates are scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Read the full statement below.

Sports Team are not the only band to have cancelled due to financial concerns. In July, Irish band The Murder Capital also cancelled the US and Canadian leg of their tour due to “unforeseen financial challenges” and uncertainty.

This, they explained, was due to financial struggles and uncertainties around travel. No replacement dates were scheduled.

“With heavy hearts, we have to cancel our tour this autumn due to unforeseen financial challenges and the ongoing travel uncertainties,” their statement read on social media. “This is a bitter pill to swallow. We hope you know how much we wanted to be out there playing these shows for ye all.”

It comes as the number of artists touring across the UK and abroad has fallen by as much as 74 per cent compared to pre-pandemic figures.  The country’s music scene continues to face the “complete collapse” of touring with huge areas going without live music, one venue closing every two weeks, and the uphill struggle for artists affording to exist, let alone play live.

A proposed £1 levy on gigs at arena level and above – designed to feed back into the grassroots for artists and promoters as well as venues and festivals – continues to gather steam, but debate surrounds its speed and where the pressure should be applied for more action.

This included a showing of the money made from show fees and merch sales, as well as outgoings including travel, haulage, accommodation, crew wages and essentials such as food.

In total, for the one-off gig that the band played at Dublin venue the Button Factory, they earned £6,151.59. However, they spent £7,863.88, resulting in a total loss of £1,712.29.

Back in May, Wolf Alice‘s Joff Oddie joined industry leaders at a government hearing into the state of UK grassroots music, where it was warned that not enough progress was being made in saving venues and new artists.

Last year, DJ Shadow shared his thoughts on the current touring crisis, saying the industry is close to “extinction”.

Additionally, back in 2022, various figures from the UK music industry spoke to NME about how the first summer of post-pandemic touring revealed that the complications of Brexit were “strangling the next generation of UK talent in the cradle”.

NME gave Sports Team’s latest album ‘Boys These Days’ four stars in a review. It commended its fun-spirited approach to tackling toxic masculinity, and by giving a distinct sound to the band.

“On ‘Boys These Days’, Sports Team flip the narrative of an increasingly stark, divided world to embrace the childlike side of human nature, staying true to that foundational principle of the band,” it read.

“Sonically, it’s a step up from the guitar-driven mayhem that characterised their roots, without just slapping some synths on top like many of their indie counterparts. In reality, they’ve never sounded closer to that wacky, eccentric live band down your local on a Friday night – and maybe that’s where their truest form lies.”

“Who lost it all?” Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a documentary film titled Who Killed the Montreal Expos?, a sports history look back at a beloved baseball team. The Montreal Expos were the very first MLB team in Canada playing for 3 long decades. After the 2004 season, the franchise moved to Washington, D.C., and became the Washington Nationals. 20 years after they lost its beloved Expos, fans still want answers. Who Killed the Montreal Expos? takes a behind-the-scenes look at the controversial decisions, setbacks, and missteps (and betrayal?!) that sealed the team’s fate. Through candid interviews with Hall of Famers Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero Sr., and Larry Walker, along with beloved manager Felipe Alou, journalists, former employees, and diehard fans who lived through it all, the doc film investigates the behind-the-scenes controversies, devastating setbacks, and critical missteps that led to the shocking loss of one of the game’s most cherished franchises. With rare archival footage & flashbacks of the Expos’ greatest moments, the doc is equal parts sports drama, cultural love story, and gripping whodunit, unraveling the enduring mystery of how it all came to an end. This trailer plays like a crime thriller not a nostalgic look back at a team! Intense.

Who Killed the Montreal Expos? Doc Trailer

Who Killed the Montreal Expos? Doc Poster

On September 29th, 2004, the Montreal Expos played their final home game before a grieving crowd at Olympic Stadium. For 35 years, the Expos had been more than a ballclub. They were the first MLB team to call Canada home and became part of Montreal’s heartbeat, a symbol of pride and identity for Québécois. Generations grew up with the Expos, celebrating triumphs & enduring struggles. That final game marked the end of an era, and for many, the loss of a piece of themselves. Two decades later, the heartbreak still remains, and the same question haunts the city that once dreamed in Expos blue: who’s to blame for the loss of our team? Featuring rare archival footage and flashbacks of the Expos’ greatest moments, the doc is equal parts sports drama, cultural love story, and gripping whodunit, unraveling the enduring mystery of how it all came to an end. Who Killed the Montreal Expos? is directed by Quebecois filmmaker Jean-François Poisson, of the doc films Marie-Soleil et Jean-Claude: Au-delà des étoiles, 35 jours de noirceur, Dédé et Patrick: au-delà des étoiles, and Gai(e) tu ne seras point, plus many other short films. Produced by Stéphanie Thibault. Exec produced by Richard Speer, Marie-Christine Pouliot, & Nick Trotta. Netflix debuts Who Killed the Montreal Expos? streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on October 21st, 2025 this fall.

BET Sets ‘106 & Sports’ Premiere Date: Watch Teaser

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

BET has set the premiere date for its new original series, 106 & Sports, a reimagining of the legendary 106 & Park brand.

Produced by Fulwell Entertainment’s SpringHill and hosted by Cam Newton and Ashley Nicole Moss, 106 & Sports premieres on Wednesday, October 15, on BET with episodes streaming the following day on BET+.

The network describes the series as a “fresh countdown highlighting sports, music, and entertainment like never before,” calling it the “definitive home for culturally-driven sports commentary.”

“When I think about ‘106 & Park,’ I remember how it was a voice for the culture. It gave artists and fans a place to connect. Now, we’re doing the same thing for sports,” Newton said in a statement. “’106 & Sports’ is where you’ll get the real talk, the authentic insights, and the kind of conversations you won’t find anywhere else. I’m excited to team up with Ashley and BET to build something special, something that honors that legacy while creating a new one.”

Moss added, “I know how much this iconic brand means to so many people, including myself. I want everyone to know how much of an honor it is to be part of this amazing culture, and my goal is to resonate that with every show. My hope is for people to feel a connection with ‘106 & Sports’ in the same way they did with ‘106 & Park.’”

Tiffany Lea Williams, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Programming and Development at BET Media Group, considers the series to be an “exciting evolution of BET’s legacy” as it reimagines “the cultural heartbeat of ‘106 & Park’ through the lens of sports.”

The first 10 episodes mark the first half of its debut season. New episodes will drop every Wednesday until December 17. Watch the official teaser above.

Skip Bayless, Fox Sports Settle Sexual Battery & Retaliation Suit

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

UPDATE: Eight months after a former Fox Sports hairstylist accused Skip Bayless of repeatedly pressuring her into having sex with him for over a million dollars, the plaintiff, the ex-Undisputed host and Fox Sports have reached a deal.

A request for dismissal by Noushin Faraji was approved on August 28 after initially being filed earlier that month. As usual in such sexual battery and retaliation cases, no details on the settlement were provided – but you can be sure money changed hands.

As for Fox themselves, the Murdoch-owned company kept it short. “We are pleased that this matter has been resolved. There will be no further comment.”

PREVIOUSLY, JAN 6 PM: Skip Bayless and Fox Sports are reunited, though not in a way either party would have hoped for.

The former Undisputed host and the network division run by Erik Shanks and Mark Silverman have been hit with a jury-seeking complaint claiming Bayless propositioned a hairstylist at Fox Sports with $1.5 million if she would have sex with him.

Characterizing Fox Sports as den of iniquity, the 14-claim lawsuit filed January 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court also alleges that Bayless repeatedly tried to “pressure” plaintiff Noushin Faraji “into having sex with him.”

“Ms. Faraji brings forth this action because for over a decade at Fox, she was forced to endure a misogynistic, racist, and ableist workplace where executives and talent were allowed to physically and verbally abuse workers with impunity,” reads the suit that claims sexual battery, retaliation, hostile work environment and fraudulent business practices.

Read the sexual battery and 13 other claims against Skip Bayless, Fox Sports, Joy Taylor and others here.

In tones and terms familiar to those who have read past lawsuits involving sexual harassment and more that Fox entities and executives have been slapped with over the past decade, the potential class action adds: “When Ms. Faraji and others came forward to report the wrongdoing, instead of addressing their concerns, Fox retaliated against them while the perpetrators and those who protected them were inexplicitly promoted. This case thus represents yet another in a long line of cases chronicling the toxic culture at Fox, marked by bad faith promises and repeated failures to address a poisonous and entrenched patriarchy.”

Detailing the July 2021 occurrence in which Bayless is alleged to have offered Faraji that $1.5 million to sleep with him, the suit then damningly says: “Approximately one week later, Mr. Bayless made another advance at Ms. Faraji. Ms. Faraji responded: ‘Skip, stop, you have a wife.’ Mr. Bayless responded: ‘Aren’t you Muslim? Doesn’t your dad have three to four wives?’ Ms. Faraji responded that her father was dead, and when Mr. Bayless looked taken aback, she made an excuse to leave.”

Faraji claims that in 2024 Bayless said to her while she was giving him a haircut that “he fantasizes about having sex with her and asked how much money it would take for her to have sex with him. Bayless supposedly went on to say: “The more you say no the more I want you.”

Bayless is also alleged to have accused Faraji of having a sexual relationship with Bayless’ then co-host and “archrival” Shannon Sharpe, an allegation Faraji says was totally false. Sharpe on his and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson’s Nightcap podcast Sunday briefly addressed being mentioned in the actions by saying, “That ain’t got nothing to do with me.”

Following several tense on-air exchanges between Bayless and Sharpe, the latter jumped to ESPN in June 2023. In August 2024, ex-ESPN host Bayless was pink-slipped by FS1 after eight years. Both sides painted that departure in rosy terms, but declining ratings and then the cancellation of Undisputed were said to be a major issue – as Faraji notes in her suit. Not long after Bayless’ exit, Faraji herself was fired from FS1 “by removing her from the schedule entirely, using fabricated business necessities as a pretext,” the lawsuit says.

“We take these allegations seriously and have no further comment at this time given this pending litigation,” a Fox spokesperson told Deadline today. Reps for Bayless did not respond to a request for comment from Deadline. If they do, this post will be updated.

Truth is, with current Fox Sports host Joy Taylor and FS1 Content VP Charlie Dixon named as defendants in the suit, as well as Bayless and a number of Fox Sports corporate entities, Fox better take this allegations seriously.

In her 42-page suit by attorneys Rana Ayazi and Devin Abney, Faraji says Taylor did nothing to help her and actually told her to “get over it” after Dixon allegedly groped the hair stylist at a 2017 birthday party the on-air star was hosting. In fact, along with office intrigue (to put it politely) and an alleged affair between Taylor and Dixon and the power plays over women the VP seemed to be making at FS1, Speak co-host Taylor became “romantically involved” with FS1 colleague Emmanuel Acho in 2020, according to Faraji – a relationship she found FS1 superiors asking her about over and over.

All of which, along with Faraji calling out Fox for ”Labor Code violations” and “unfair, unlawful, and fraudulent business practices” when it comes to pay, finds the plaintiff seeking class action certification, a variety of unspecified damages, and Taylor and Dixon to be fired.

As the filing says:

At this point, Ms. Faraji seeks justice. She knows that Mr. Dixon used his position of power to coerce women into having sex with him and used it as justification to grope Ms. Faraji. She knows that Mr. Dixon did not immediately fire her (after Ms. Taylor and Ms. Faraji had a falling out) only to appease Mr. Bayless by providing him with a plaything. Despite Ms. Faraji being an excellent hairdresser and continuously being requested by talent, she was shrunken down to how much she could appease Mr. Bayless, and once Mr. Bayless was gone, so was her job.

After the suit became public, a number of associates of Bayless and others chimed in, among those who Bayless’ former First Take partner Stephen A. Smith.

“The Skip Bayless I know has a hard time giving away $15, he’s one of the cheapest people I know,” the discerning NBA sports commentator and cultural icon noted on his podcast Monday. “That’s just me. But that doesn’t mean that I have any inside knowledge about any of this, I don’t, I don’t, and I’m not going to get involved.”

Smith went on to say: “I know Skip, and I’m very, very heartbroken that he finds himself in this situation, being accused of these allegations. But I can’t be over the airways being irresponsible and attaching truth or innocent, you know, or guilt to anything that I know nothing about. All I can say, and I don’t think it’s a crime to say, is just like I said with Jay-Z. The person that I’ve known for 25 years. I’ve never seen anything like that from that person, anything close to that from that person. That’s the same thing that I would tell you about Skip Bayless.”

Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl at a MTV VMAs party in 2000 with the much accused and currently incarcerated Sean “Diddy” Combs and a yet unnamed female “Celebrity B.” The rap superstar, real name Shawn Carter, has vehemently denied the claims and has his lawyer Alex Spiro trying a swath of tactics to get the charges dismissed.

Bad Boy Records founder Combs was arrested September 16 on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Already behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center and denied bail, Combs’ trial is set to start May 5 next year.

Salman Khan Sultan

National Sports Day: Salman Khan – The Sultan Who Redefined Bollywood’s Sports Genre

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Until a few years ago, the sports drama in Bollywood largely belonged to a niche space. Films like Lagaan and Chak De! India won acclaim, but they were exceptions rather than the norm. It was Salman Khan’s Sultan (2016) that shifted the balance, turning a genre once seen as risky into a mainstream phenomenon.

Salman Khan – The Sultan Who Redefined Bollywood’s Sports Genre

With Sultan, Salman Khan did what few stars of his stature dared,  he merged the masala of commercial cinema with the authenticity of a sports narrative. The result was a film that not only entertained but also brought wrestling, a sport often overlooked on the big screen, into the cultural spotlight. By embodying Sultan Ali Khan, a flawed yet inspiring athlete, Salman gave audiences a hero who was larger-than-life but also deeply human.

The impact of Sultan went beyond its box office triumph. It changed how filmmakers and producers perceived sports dramas. No longer were they seen as “festival films” for awards or limited audiences. Salman’s presence made them bankable, aspirational, and capable of drawing families into theatres.

Equally significant was Salman’s commitment to the role. His physical transformation and willingness to embrace vulnerability gave credibility to the genre. He proved that a superstar could lend his mass appeal to tell stories of grit, struggle, and redemption rooted in sport and still deliver one of the highest-grossing films in Indian cinema.

By redefining the perception of sports dramas, Salman Khan didn’t just give Bollywood one of its biggest blockbusters,  he gave the industry a blueprint on how to make sports films connect with the masses. In doing so, he truly became the Sultan who changed the game.
