MSNBC Makes The Shift To MS NOW As Part Of Split From Comcast

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

MSNBC transformed into the newly named MS NOW on Saturday morning, as the network splits from parent company Comcast.

“Don’t adjust your settings,” Jonathan Capehart, co-host of The Weekend, told viewers shortly after 7 a.m. ET, from studios in Washington. “We are formerly MSNBC. As of this moment, we have a new name, MS NOW, which stands for My Source for News Opinion and the World. But other than that, and these snazzy new graphics, not much is changing. Bottom line: Same mission, new name.”

Moments earlier, viewers saw Morning Joe Weekend host Willie Geist sign off for the final time under the MSNBC name, with a shot of the NBC Peacock logo.

MS NOW has been preparing for this moment since last year, when Comcast announced that it would be spinning off MSNBC along with other cable networks into a new company, later named Versant. MS NOW has built up its own newsroom, as NBC News no longer is a sister network.

MS NOW will not stream episodes of its shows after they air on Peacock, the Comcast service, although past MSNBC shows like Morning Joe and Deadline White House with Nicolle Wallace were still available as of Saturday morning. MSNBC ended its original programming on Peacock several years ago, but some MSNBC shows were available the next day. MS NOW will be available to pay TV subscribers on its mobile app and Roku, tvOS, Fire TV, Android TV and Comcast Xumo connected apps.

The website has changed as well, to MS.NOW, with MSNBC.com redirecting to that page.

MSNBC was launched in 1996 as a partnership between NBC News and Microsoft. With an initial focus on internet connectivity, the network eventually transformed into a channel offering a mix of news and opinion, and Microsoft eventually sold its stake but the name remained.

The D.O.C. Says His Split with Erykah Badu Happened After Dr. Dre Asked Him to Write for an Album

The D.O.C. is opening up about the moment his relationship with Erykah Badu came to an end — and how a call from Dr. Dre played a key role in their split.

During an appearance on the Willie D Live podcast, the Dallas-born rapper and songwriter reflected on his breakup with Badu, explaining that it happened after Dre reached out and asked him to help write for an upcoming project. The former couple, who share a daughter, Puma Curry, now 21, had been together for about four years in the early 2000s.

The D.O.C., known for his classic track “It’s Funky Enough,” said he had returned to Dallas following a “huge blowout” with Dre and was still working through how to “write a happy ending” to his story after his career-altering car accident in 1989. Around the time their daughter was four, Dre called him to collaborate. “Erykah and I had been together for three, four years. She cleaned me up. No more drugs and alcohol. You know, I’m a father now,” he said. “I still had a desire to be somebody. And I hadn’t figured out how to create art again yet. So, when Dre called, that feeling came back — and I wanted to go. She didn’t want me to go. She thought it was a bad decision.” Badu warned him that returning to Los Angeles would land him “in the same hole” as before. “But she said, you know, if you going to go, then just go,” he recalled, admitting that despite his belief that things would be different, “she was right.”

The D.O.C. added that he doesn’t believe Badu felt “betrayed” when he left because he had “given so much” to their family during their time together. He acknowledged, however, that both knew his departure would mark the end of their romantic relationship. “We both knew when I left that we weren’t going to be able to come back to what it was. And we acknowledged that and just moved forward.” Badu — who also shares son Seven Sirius Benjamin, 27, with André 3000, and daughter Mars, 16, with Jay Electronica — continues to maintain a close friendship with The D.O.C., much like she does with her other children’s fathers.

Mod Sun Reflects on Avril Lavigne Split

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Mod Sun is looking back on his high-profile engagement to Avril Lavigne — and how the fallout helped him grow.

Appearing on the Nov. 6 episode of Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast, the multi-genre artist opened up about the relationship’s end with surprising clarity, saying: “We’re two different people, but I think I had a great influence on her.” He added that the “Sk8er Boi” singer helped him “grow up,” and that he’s now more secure in his identity than ever before.

The former couple met in early 2021 while collaborating on music, and their joint single “Flames” dropped just weeks later. A whirlwind romance followed, with Mod proposing in Paris in April 2022. Less than a year later, the pair called off the engagement in February 2023.

Though Lavigne has remained publicly silent on the split, Mod has continued to speak openly. In July 2023, he released the breakup track “Strangers,” with lyrics detailing the rise and fall of their relationship. The Paris-shot music video — filmed in the same city where he proposed — added further emotional weight.

On the podcast, Mod said that his perspective on the breakup has shifted over time: “We’re two different people, but I think I had a great influence on her.”

He continued, “Like now, I’m very secure of who I am, because I’ve been lost in the last three years of wondering, ‘Where do I fit in?’”

He added later, “If we had done this talk three months ago, I might’ve been like, ‘F— that person,’ but now… If I run into you? It’s all love.”

He also spoke about developing greater empathy in the aftermath, saying, “When someone does you wrong, stop thinking, ‘You did me dirty, and I’m out for revenge.’ Step in their position.”

Lavigne was briefly linked to rapper Tyga following the split, but the pair separated in mid-2023. Mod, meanwhile, focused on his tour and healing. “Being surrounded by love every night on tour has been an absolute blessing,” he wrote on Instagram days after the breakup. “I just know there’s a plan for it all.”

Netflix Approves 10-for-1 Stock Split to Make Shares ‘More Accessible’

Netflix‘s shares are about to become more affordable.

The streaming giant announced Thursday that its board approved a 10-for-1 forward stock split of Netflix common stock. “The purpose of the stock split is to reset the market price of the Company’s common stock to a range that will be more accessible to employees who participate in the Company’s stock option program,” Netflix said in announcing the plan.

Netflix stock closed at $1,089.00 per share Thursday, down about 1% on the day but up nearly 23% year to date. On the announcement of the 10-for-1 split, shares rose more than 3% in after-hours trading.

Each Netflix shareholder of record as of the close of trading on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, will receive, after the close of trading on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, nine additional shares for every share held on the record date. Trading is expected to begin on a split-adjusted basis at market open on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.

Netflix said the split will be effected through an amendment to the company’s amended and restated certificate of incorporation.

Netflix most recently enacted a seven-for-one stock split that took effect July 14, 2015.

Arjun Kapoor Posts Sun-Drenched Tribute To Ex Malaika Arora On Her Birthday Months After Their Public Split

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Arjun Kapoor turned heads this week when he extended a heartfelt birthday wish to his former partner, Malaika Arora, despite the two having parted ways earlier this year. On the occasion of Malaika’s 52nd birthday, Arjun took to Instagram Stories and shared a radiant photograph of Malaika in Paris—bathed in soft light, seated on a balcony with the Eiffel Tower looming softly in the distance. The message accompanying the image read simply yet poignantly: “Happy Birthday @malaikaaroraofficial. Keep soaring, keep smiling and always keep seeking…”

In response, Malaika re-shared Arjun’s post to her own Instagram Story with a single red-heart emoji and the word “Thank you,” indicating that the message was received warmly and acknowledging the sentiment.

The exchange arrives months after the two publicly confirmed their split during promotional events for Arjun’s film Singham Again. Though both individuals quietly affirmed they were no longer together, the decision to share a birthday wish underscores a notable shift in the narrative—from romantic partners to respectful former companions.

Malaika and Arjun’s relationship had spanned several years, with their pairing first becoming public in 2018. While they rarely discussed their bond openly, posts of vacations and shared moments had offered fans glimpses into their life together. Despite their breakup, the highlight of the birthday message is the tone: classy, amicable and free of drama.

In sharing the Paris photo, Arjun let the image speak almost as loud as his words. The setting—a quiet terrace overlooking one of the world’s most iconic landmarks—paired with Malaika’s serene pose, conveyed admiration without showboating. For his birthday message to include “keep soaring… keep smiling…” is a subtle yet powerful acknowledgement of her continued journey, independently defined.

Beyond the social-media moment, the backdrop adds further nuance. Arjun had publicly spoken about his relationship with Malaika, acknowledging the emotional weight of their time together—particularly noting that she had a life and a son when their relationship began. The birthday tribute now signals a level of emotional maturity in how both individuals are navigating change—moving from attachment to respect.

Among fans and observers, reactions have been largely positive. Many took note that such gestures between high-profile ex-partners are still rare in the industry. Comments on the Instagram post ranged from appreciation for the refined tone (“True friendship wins”) to nostalgia for a time when public breakups were quieter. The dynamic between Arjun and Malaika now reads less like former lovers and more like two adults who remain in each other’s orbit, albeit in a redefined way.

While the post itself was simple, the context gives it significance. In Bollywood, where personal and romantic narratives often merge with public image, Arjun’s tribute stands out for what it doesn’t say: no longing, no remorse, no cryptic message—just goodwill. At the same time, the restraint with which Malaika responded suggests she values the sentiment but maintains her boundaries.

For both stars, the moment serves as a quiet tour de force: a statement that parting ways doesn’t need to mean the end of respect. In an industry where split stories can amplify into headlines and harassment, this understated exchange flips the script.

As for what this means moving forward, it may not hint at a rekindling or a public reconciliation—but it does pave the way for a new kind of relationship narrative. One in which two people, once romantically linked, choose goodwill over rivalry, dignity over display.

Ultimately, Arjun Kapoor’s birthday message to Malaika Arora is more than just a kind gesture—it’s a closing chapter on one relationship and a quiet but confident step into the next phase.

Keri Russell Explains Kate Hal Split, VP

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

[The following story contains spoilers from the first two episodes of The Diplomat season three.]

By the second episode of season three of Netflix‘s The Diplomat, viewers may have thought that the political thriller was on the verge of blowing up its entire premise.

After a series of changes, including Allison Janney’s Grace Penn becoming president after President Rayburn (Michael McKean) dies, Celia Imrie’s Margaret Roylin dying and Penn appointing Rufus Sewell‘s former ambassador Hal Wyler as her vice president instead of his wife Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), who’d been pursuing the position, Kate is ready to leave her post as American ambassador to the U.K., the role she took in the opening minutes of the series’ first episode, and return to the U.S. with Hal with the promise of a newly created special envoy to Europe position alongside her role as second lady. But as she’s about to board the plane, she looks up at Hal from the tarmac and can’t do it. He looks back at her in a knowing moment for the long-married couple and turns around and boards the plane.

For Russell, the moment, which maintains her character’s current diplomatic position, is also an unusual shift for both Kate and many women.

“The interesting part is that she’s just gonna go along miserably and do what the good girl is supposed to do. And when Stuart (Ato Essandoh) brings it up, like maybe you could just stay, I think she hadn’t even thought of it, and I love that she chooses to stay. It’s a monumental moment to choose yourself. And I think women, in particular, don’t. I think it’s really hard for women to choose themselves,” Russell tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Women don’t do that that much for a million reasons, but at this point, Kate decides to choose herself, which is amazing.”

Kate’s choice also reminded the actress of another acclaimed series she starred in that tackled the intimate relationship of a marriage amid larger geopolitical stakes: The Americans.

“When we were making The Americans, Joe [Weisberg] and Joel [Fields], who wrote that show, said they followed a feminist guidebook, or these guidelines, so every single decision Elizabeth made followed this set of rules,” Russell explained of her Soviet spy character in the FX series. “You did it for yourself, not for your family, not for your kids. You made the decision for yourself.”

Even though there is still “more work to be done” in the U.K., particularly as CIA station chief Eidra Park (Ali Ahn) and Kate’s friend is certain she’s about to be fired, Russell says her character’s decision is more about making a break from her pattern with Hal.

“There’s been enough of following this guy and his career. Let him go do his career, let him have it, live it up,” Russell says. “The rivalry and the messiness of it and all the complications of that relationship, it was just too much. You just have to clear your head. And I think she wanted to clear the slate and focus on what her priorities were.”

The episode in which Kate and Hal part ways also features flashbacks to their early days as a couple, including Hal’s proposal, in what Russell called “contemplative in a way that is a different rhythm for our show.”

She adds, “That whole idea of, ‘How did I end up here?, What steps led me here?’ It’s interesting.”

And she praised Kate being passed over for Hal as VP as great storytelling.

“When I read that, it was so fucking good. To be stripped of that when you’re building and all the work in the first episode of handling things for the president, even though they’re at odds, doing the right thing, making everything work and then for Hal to waltz in with his good looks and his good suit, and be offered the position is just deliciously heartbreaking. It really sets this season off to a completely different place,” she says. “Any character, for me anyway, is better when you’re losing. And [creator and showrunner] Debora [Cahn] writes some pretty fantastic, humiliating losses.”

Speaking at a post-screening Q&A with former American ambassador to the U.K. Jane Hartley in New York earlier this week, Cahn joked about the real-life parallels of someone as qualified as Kate not getting a top job.

“How did we come up with the idea that a really smart woman with a lot of experience and a real granular understanding of how things work would be sort of ready, willing and able to take a big leadership job and then didn’t get it at the last second?,” she said.

But in all seriousness, she said that they wanted to keep Kate in the foreign service.

And, she said, “The idea of having two women in the White House, sadly, felt like science fiction.”

At the beginning of episode two, viewers see Kate methodically remove the multiple bobby pins holding together her vice presidential hair and sweep them away, signaling an end — at least for now — to Kate’s ambitions to be vp.

And that’s where Russell points out that Kate “didn’t want that job.”

“You get into this whipped up environment, and you do sort of think, ‘Well, maybe this is what I want, maybe this is what I’m supposed to be doing,’” she says. “And then when [Hal becomes vp], I think it just strips everything away and makes her rethink the whole thing and what she believes and what she wants. I think that’s a great place to start the season.”

Sewell was also excited by the shifting dynamics that came with Hal being picked for vp, saying he was “aghast” when he found out about the “fantastic” development.

“What it does to the dynamic is so explosive, so unexpected, it throws so much in the air. We’ve always enjoyed those kinds of things,” he says. “You don’t want to be the dog that caught the car, so the change in dynamic, I was very grateful for, because I think there’s only a limited amount of interest that you can get out of the dynamic staying the same for too long. So something that really rebalanced the status and created new problems opened the story up.”

The multiple shifts in season three, Cahn indicates, were just natural consequences of the “tiny” change of Rayburn’s death.

“We just did this one tiny little thing, which was the president dropped dead, and it created a whole lot of fallout,” she quips.

Still, she was intrigued by the possibilities of what these changes would do for the characters.

“It was really fascinating to watch a bunch of characters who believe that the world can turn over, but they will stay essentially the same. They will be the same people in relationship to each other,” she says.

And for those who think that some threads from the first two seasons have been tied up early in season three, Cahn teases that those ties may unravel yet again.

“I always think that we’re going to resolve storylines and embark on a new path, but then we end up with some new wrinkle from the old path, which I guess is a lot like life,” she says.

All three seasons, including the eight-episode third season, of The Diplomat are now streaming on Netflix.

Deep Cut Friday: ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Split Enz

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Each week, SPIN digs into the catalogs of great artists and highlights songs you might not know for our Deep Cut Friday series.

MTV premiered on August 1, 1981, and four different videos by Split Enz aired on the channel in its first 24 hours. The New Zealand band had only made its Hot 100 debut less than a year earlier with 1980’s “I Got You,” but at the dawn of music television, they were briefly as ubiquitous as rock titans like the Who and David Bowie. That’s because Split Enz were one of the most visually oriented bands in the world before the advent of MTV, with outrageously imaginative makeup and costumes. And by 1981, they’d already produced music videos for more than a dozen of their songs that had aired on television in New Zealand and Australia.

One of the earliest and most striking Split Enz videos was for “Sweet Dreams,” a track from 1976’s Second Thoughts that was never released as a single. Musically, the song showcases the distinctive voice and emotive, erudite lyrics of guitarist Phil Judd, who co-founded Split Enz and split frontman duties with Tim Finn on the band’s early albums. Visually, the clip showcases the work of Split Enz percussionist Noel Crombie, who directed most of the Split Enz videos and designed the surreal hairstyles and outfits sported by the band in “Sweet Dreams.”

On November 14, Chrysalis Records is releasing ENZyclopedia Volumes One & Two, a 5 CD set of early Split Enz work including two versions of Second Thoughts, one of them a new 2025 remix of the album by keyboardist Eddie Rayner. Rayner’s remix of “Sweet Dreams,” premiered here exclusively by SPIN, brings out more vivid sonic detail in the instrumental bridge of the original 1976 track, which was produced by Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera.

Phil Judd left Split Enz in 1977 and briefly rejoined the band in 1978 before leaving a final time. Split Enz disbanded in 1984 and have reunited many times since then, including a planned appearance at the Electric Avenue Festival in New Zealand in February 2026. Judd hasn’t participated in any of the various Split Enz reunions over the years, but ENZyclopedia Volumes One & Two presents a loving portrait of the great songs he wrote for the band in the mid-’70s.

Three more essential Split deep cuts:

“Under the Wheel”

At nearly eight minutes long, “Under the Wheel” from 1975’s Mental Notes is an example of the kind of proggy, expansive songs Phil Judd and Tim Finn were writing together before Split Enz’s best known work in the new wave era.

“Missing Person”

Tim Finn’s little brother Neil joined Split Enz in 1977. And by 1980’s True Colours, the younger Finn was writing some of the band’s most memorable tracks, including “I Got You” and the Beatlesque “Missing Person.” After the breakup of Split Enz, Neil Finn would go on to greater international fame with his next band, Crowded House.

“Small World”

Tim Finn’s piano-driven Split Enz songs became a little more direct and concise after his brother’s success with the band, and 1982’s Time and Tide featured some of the elder Finn’s finest work before he began to turn his focus towards a solo career.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s relationship is often cited as one of Hollywood’s most iconic romances and highly publicized romances. The two first crossed paths on The Mickey Mouse Club and dated for nearly three years before their 2002 breakup. But what really led to their split?

Interest in their past rekindled after Britney released her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. Around that time, Justin announced his sixth album, launching the single “Selfish,” which spurred Britney’s fans to push her 2011 song of the same name back into the spotlight.

Keep reading to find out the reason why Britney and Justin split in 2002.

Why Did Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake Break Up?

Both the Princess of Pop and the “Mirrors” crooner have addressed their breakup in the past. Immediately after their romance ended in 2002, Justin told PEOPLE that he had a “broken heart” over it but “will always love” Britney. For her part, the “Gimme More” artist explained that they split because they were “climbing two different mountains,” according to the outlet.

“Of course it’s gonna kind of hurt sometimes, and you wonder things,” Britney said at the time. “But you learn from it and grow. I’m trying to get to that point.”

In the years following their split, the exes made comments about each other, describing their relationship as immature. Justin called it “young love” and a “very intense relationship” during a 2002 interview on 20/20, whereas Britney acknowledged in her interview with Diane Sawyer that “it got way too serious, way too young.”

Justin was the one who ended things with Britney, as music video director Chris Applebaum told Page Six about the moment the “Mirrors” artist broke up with her via text. She allegedly revealed a message from Justin to Chris on the set of her music video for “Overprotected: The Dark Child Remix.” The text allegedly read just two words from him: “It’s over!!!”

More recently, People reported that Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline claimed in his upcoming memoir that Britney called Justin the night before her 2004 wedding to “make sure everything was done” between them, a conversation he described as her “final piece” of closure.

Did Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake Cheat on Each Other?

Despite ongoing fan speculation, there is no evidence pointing to whether Britney cheated on Justin. However, his were convinced he suggested that Britney was unfaithful when he released his “Cry Me a River” music video, which featured a woman who looked a lot like the “Till the World Ends” singer.

In her 2023 The Woman in Me memoir, Britney claimed that Justin cheated on her with “another celebrity.” She did not disclose the person’s name because she “now has a family” and Britney “doesn’t want to embarrass” her, according to TMZ. However, Britney also owned up to her own infidelity in her book, revealing that she also cheated on Justin with dancer Wade Robson. So, ultimately, the exes were both unfaithful.

During her sit-down interview with Diane in 2003, the reporter grilled Britney on whether or not she cheated on Justin. “You broke his heart. You did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering. What did you do?” Diane asked her.

“I think everyone has a side of their story to make them feel a certain way,” she said. “I’m not technically saying he’s wrong, but I’m not technically saying he’s right either. It was a really weird time … I just felt very exploited and very weird.”

It appeared that the exes remained amicable two decades after their split. Britney gave Justin a shout-out via Instagram for being a “genius” in response to his song “Filthy” in 2020. One year later, the Social Network actor outwardly supported Britney when she worked to get her conservatorship terminated. Among the Grammy Award winner’s most shocking revelations about her conservatorship — which lasted from 2008 to 2021 — was that she was allegedly forced to get an IUD to avoid having more children.

In response to Britney’s revelations, Justin tweeted that what was “happening to her [was] just not right” and that “no woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.”

Britney Spears Revealed She Had an Abortion With Justin Timberlake

In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney revealed that she had an abortion when she and Justin were together.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much,” the “Hold Me Closer” artist wrote. “I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young. … If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet, Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

Justin has not directly commented on Britney’s claim nor her book. A source close to the singer did say that JT wasn’t pleased with the book. “Justin thought Britney might talk about their ups and downs in more general terms — not air out their very personal, dirty laundry,” they told Us Weekly.  He did appear to refer to the book and her thoughts about his song “Cry Me a River” during a surprise performance of the track in Las Vegas. He shortly said “No disrespect” before launching into the song.

Nicole Kidman on Overcoming Pain Amid Keith Urban Split

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Nicole Kidman has come to this place with wisdom.

Less than two weeks after filing for divorce from Keith Urban following 19 years of marriage, the AMC Theaters brand ambassador, 58, detailed why her favorite aspect of growing older has been learning how to handle whatever life throws at her.

“The best part is the experiences that you’ve accumulated,” Nicole told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview published Oct. 9. “You go, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to handle this now.’ Or, ‘Maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve experienced something similar to this, and I do know that I will get through it.’”

The Practical Magic actress added, “There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through.”

And while Nicole feels equipped to persevere through anything, she is aware that pain is part of the growing process.
