Meg edited Jack White’s speech ahead of The White Stripes’ Rock Hall induction

Meg White helped edit her ex-husband Jack’s speech ahead of The White Stripes‘ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last weekend.

Last weekend (November 8) saw the annual Rock Hall ceremony take place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, with inductees including OutKast, Soundgarden, Cyndi Lauper, Chubby Checker, Bad Company, Joe Cocker and Jack and Meg White.

Meg wasn’t present at the ceremony, as she has stuck to keeping out of the spotlight since The White Stripes broke up in 2011. Instead, Jack accepted the honour on behalf of her, and revealed during his speech that he had spoken to Meg “the other day” ahead of the ceremony, when she helped him edit his speech.

While on the podium, Jack shared: “I spoke with Meg White the other day, and she said that she’s very sorry she couldn’t make it here tonight, but she wanted me to tell you that she’s very grateful. And to all of the folks who supported her in all the years, it really means a lot to her. She also helped me write all this… I sent these things to her. She checked it for me for a lot of punctuation and corrections. She’s pretty good at that.”

Later on in his speech, he thanked her for their time together – both as a band and as romantic partners – and rounded off his speech by reading out a story about the band that he had wanted to send to Meg, who was hearing it for the first time along with the audience.

“I was gonna send this to Meg, but I didn’t get around to it, so I thought I’d read it to you all tonight,” White began. “One time, a girl climbed a tree, and in that tree was a boy — her brother, she thought. And the tree looked so glorious and beautiful, but it was just an oak tree.

“And these two so loved the world that they brought forth a parade float – one they built in their garage behind the oak tree with their own bare hands. And the boy looked at this giant peppermint on wheels and felt pride – pride that it was produced in the Motor City, just like in the big factories – but it was just in their garage. He looked at the girl — his sister, he thought – and, like the Little Rascals, they said, ‘Let’s put on a show.’

“And they paraded this float through the Cass Corridor,” the White Stripes frontman continued, “standing atop the peppermint pulled by white horses – or maybe it was a red Econoline van. Many of the blocks they travelled were empty, but some had people. And some of those people cheered, some laughed, and some even threw stones. And with their bare hands, the two started to clap and sing and make up songs.

“And some people kept watching and swaying and moving. And then one person even smiled. The boy and the girl looked at each other, and they also smiled, and they felt — they both felt – the sin of pride. But they kept on smiling. Smiling from a new freedom, knowing that they had shared and made another person feel something.

“And they thought the person smiling at them was a stranger, someone they didn’t even know. But it wasn’t just a stranger. It was God.”

Olivia Rodrigo, Feist, and Twenty One Pilots also performed at the ceremony to honour The White Stripes. Rodrigo and Feist took on an acoustic duet of ‘We’re Going To Be Friends’ from 2001’s ‘White Blood Cells’, which was the song the White Stripes played in their final performance on Late Night With Conan O’Brien back in 2009.

Twenty One Pilots then covered ‘Seven Nation Army’, the track Rodrigo dubbed the “most iconic song of all time” in a video that preceded White’s speech. Both wearing fringed face masks, Pilots bassist and singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun switched to keys mid-song, earning a standing ovation from Flea.

Donald Trump Threatens Legal Action Against BBC Over Speech Editing

by jummy84 November 10, 2025
written by jummy84

U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened the BBC with legal action over documentary program “Panorama’s” editing of the speech he made ahead of the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to BBC News, the BBC confirmed it has received the letter and will “respond in due course.”

Controversy erupted over the weekend after a leaked memo from former BBC adviser Michael Prescott was published by The Telegraph suggesting that “Panorama” edited a Trump speech to make it sound like he encouraged the Jan. 6 riots. It resulted in the shocking resignations of both BBC director general Tim Davie and CEO of news Deborah Turness on Sunday night.

On Monday, BBC Chair Samir Shah apologized for the edit in a letter to the U.K. culture, media and sport committee and called it an “error of judgement.” Speaking with the BBC’s Katie Razzall following the letter’s publication, Shah said that he has been in contact with Trump’s team and is considering personally apologizing to the president. Asked if Trump will sue the BBC, Shah said: “I do not know that yet, but he’s a litigious fellow so we should be prepared for all outcomes.”

Prescott’s memo said “Panorama” edited Trump’s speech to be: “We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you and we fight. We fight like hell and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore.” Prescott wrote that Trump said the part beginning with “and we fight” 54 minutes after “we’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you.”

Trump celebrated the news of Davie and Turness’ resignations on Sunday night, calling the organization “corrupt ‘journalists.’”

“These are very dishonest people who tried to step on the scales of a Presidential Election,” Trump wrote. “On top of everything else, they are from a Foreign Country, one that many consider our Number One Ally. What a terrible thing for Democracy!”

In September, Trump sued the New York Times for $15 billion claiming defamation and libel, which was tossed out days later by a judge. Last month, he refiled the suit.

Ram Charan in his speech at the concert acknowledged the same. “In all the languages Chikiri Chikiri song did a record number,” he smiles. “It was a childhood dream to be part of his music. And Rahman sir is part of my favourite subject, Peddi. I think I can’t get luckier than this,” said Charan thanking Rahman for coming on board. JLA, the UK’s leading speaker bureau, has officially launched its flagship live event, The Festival of Speech, bringing together thought leaders across politics, business, technology, and the arts for a powerful evening of conversation and reflection. Held at Kings Place in London on September 9th, the event showcased six influential speakers including Nicola Sturgeon, Sir James Cleverly, Jamie Laing, Rahaf Harfoush, and Richard Ayoade, hosted by broadcaster Louise Minchin.

A New Platform for Dialogue

Created in response to growing demand for deeper, more nuanced discussions, The Festival of Speech sets out to provide a forum for critical thinking and complex ideas, a space where insight takes precedence over soundbites.

“The Festival of Speech represents our commitment to creating a platform where the most important conversations of our time can unfold,” said Simon King, Head of Talent at JLA. “Our inaugural event demonstrated the power of bringing together diverse voices to examine complex issues with nuance and depth.”

Bad Bunny Gives Emotional Latin Artist of the Century Speech

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Bad Bunny knows exactly how much work went into building a career that would lead to him being named the Top Latin Artist of the 21st Century at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards. At the ceremony in Miami, the acclaimed artist delivered an emotional acceptance speech that celebrated his contributions to music and honored the musicians who inspired him to continue moving forward.

“I’m aware that this award could have been for any of the artists here tonight who have also contributed to Latin music, who have inspired me, who are why I’m here, and those who are dreaming of being here,” Bad Bunny said. “I will always identify with those artists because I consider myself a young man who continues to dream, with many goals and things to do.”

As the evening’s top honoree, he revealed that he didn’t prepare an elaborate speech ahead of time. Instead, he opted to speak from the heart in that moment and process the reality later. “I didn’t have any practiced words,” he said. “I still don’t understand, among so many artists, why me? But I’m grateful. This is yours because you have me here. I don’t know, God wanted me to receive it because it doesn’t feed my ego. I receive it without arrogance, very humbly, and I will remain the same.”

Rita Moreno welcomed Bad Bunny to the stage with a moving introduction. Moreno spent her early years in Puerto Rico before launching an acting career that would make her the third person to earn the prestigious EGOT. “Today I see an artist who brings to the entire world that same strength, that same passion that helped me never give up,” Moreno said. “It moves me from the bottom of my heart, Benito, to present you with the Billboard Latin Artist of the 21st Century Award, Bad Bunny!”

Bad Bunny expressed his respect and admiration for Moreno. “Following your words, every time I hear other artists express themselves that way about me, it gives me the confidence that being myself and doing the things I do from the heart will always be a great decision, because that’s what I’ve done since day one, discovering who I am and what I represent,” he said.

Trending Stories

The musician’s list of accolades runs long. In 2020, his fourth album El Último Tour del Mundo became the first all-Spanish language album to top the Billboard 200 albums chart. Two years later, Un Verano Sin Ti became the first all-Spanish language album to receive an Album of the Year nomination at the Grammy Awards. It’s also Spotify’s most-streamed album of all time with over 20 billion streams.

In February, Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. His set will mark the first time an artist has delivered their set completely in Spanish. When the performance was first announced, he emphasized community and humility in the same way he did in his Billboard Latin Music Awards speech. “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” he said. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture, and our history.”

Taylor Swift’s Speech At Selena Gomez’s Wedding: A Beautiful Tribute To Friendship | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 1, 2025

Taylor Swift recently delivered an emotional and sincere speech at Selena Gomez’s party with Benny Blanco, a lovely moment in the 17-year friendship the two share. Entertainment Tonight states that it was revealed by an insider that Swift’s toast was “pretty long” and very personal, full of inside jokes and memories that they shared and revealed the extent of their friendship.

Us Weekly wrote that Swift looked back on Gomez’s path from heartbreak to healing, remembering instances where she’d seen Selena “crying on the floor” when her relationships fell apart. She put those sad scenes in contrast to the happiness Gomez has discovered with Benny Blanco, referring to it as “a best friend’s dream” to see such joy. Her words were an endearing sketch of two friends who have been through the ups and downs of life together.

The Daily Mail reported that Swift’s heartfelt speech had many of the guests, including Gomez, crying. She explained how their friendship has always been deeper than just a superficial friendship, labeling their bond as sisters rather than friends. Swift noted how they’ve always been there for each other even in personal and professional issues.

With a dash of humor, Swift playfully teased her own betrothal to NFL player Travis Kelce, quipping that Gomez had “beaten her to the altar.” She went on to commend Benny Blanco, referring to him as “the most perfect person” for Selena and adding, “It isn’t luck that they found each other, it’s love.”

Since then, the singer has been applauded by fans for once again proving that her friendship with Gomez is one of the closest and most revered in Hollywood.

Carmelo Anthony Thanks Son & Daughter In Hall Of Fame Speech

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

It was a significant weekend for Carmelo Anthony and his basketball career legacy. The former Nuggets player got inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday (Sept. 6), and brought his children, Kiyan and Genesis Anthony, with him for the moment! As he made his way into the venue, the Associated Press reports that “Melo! Melo!” chants welcomed him. Anthony retired from the NBA in 2023 with a bittersweet video on social media.

Carmelo Anthony Credits His Son & Daughter In Speech

As soon as he touched the stage at the induction, Anthony appeared emotionally overwhelmed. He teared up over the energy in the air and the full-circle moment of reaching the basketball Hall of Fame against all the odds stacked against him growing up in Brooklyn and Baltimore.

“Tonight I just don’t step into the Hall of Fame, I carry the echoes of every voice that ever told me I couldn’t. I walk with the shadows of every alley, every cracked court, every empty plate. I stand for the dreamers, the doubted, the dismissed, for every soul trapped in a place where I broke free from…I had to build a new road. I had to write a new ending,” Anthony reportedly said.

Aside from thanking his parents, his siblings, Syracuse University, the NBA, and others, he also name-dropped his children, Kiyan and Genesis.

“Raising children in this world is revoluntionary. I didn’t just want to be a basketball player. I wanted to be a model of redemption, of accountability, of love. My kids saved me,” he said, pointing to them in the crowd. “They gave me a reason to move past ego, past noise, past criticism. They reminded me that legacy isn’t what you leave behind, it’s what you lift up.”

More Details About Carmelo’s Two Kids

Melo’s fans are familiar with his firstborn, Kiyan Anthony. The former pro-athlete and La La Anthony, whom he later married in 2010 and divorced in 2021, welcomed their son in March 2007. Over the years, the separated parents have come together to celebrate their mini-me. That includes his basketball games and his high school graduation in May. On the court, he’s a four-star shooting guard. He’s following in his father’s footsteps this fall after committing to Syracuse University and its college basketball team. Most recently, the 18-year-old went viral after flexing his relationship with 22-year-old Angel Bradley.

Kiyan is also an older brother to Genesis Anthony, whom Carmelo welcomed with Mia Burks in  August 2017. At the time, he was still married to La La. According to PEOPLE, the married couple separated briefly in April 2017 and reconciled in late 2018 before she filed for divorce in 2021. Burke was public about Carmelo’s paternity, but he held his tongue on their parenting affairs, per PEOPLE. In May 2023, he publicly confirmed being a father of two while announcing his retirement from the NBA. He included a picture of Kiyan and Genesis in the video. His daughter’s sighting at the induction is one of the most recent and rare. Carmelo and Mia celebrated her birthday last month with a Knicks-themed party.

Dwight Howard Also Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Carmelo Anthony wasn’t the only honoree on Saturday. Dwight Howard also cemented his legacy with a Hall of Fame induction. Despite his playful nature on the court, he’s one of four players with three Defensive Player of the Year awards. In his speech, he lovingly mentioned his mother’s sacrifices.

“My mother lost seven children and he allowed me to bring sunshine into her life,” he said. “I’m just honored to stand in front of you as one of the greatest basketball players ever.”

Even his wife Amy Luciani, who entered the picture following his retirement from the NBA after the 2021-22 season, got a shoutout as she sat in the crowd supporting her man, her man, her man! “I love you, and I’m truly blessed to have you a part of my life,” Dwight said. Their public reconciliation comes after several accusations she made against him in June, all of which he denied the following month.

Additionally, in his Hall of Fame speech, Howard shared a motivational message with the audience: “This is your universe, this is your one song. How do you want your song to sound when people hear it? Will they want to throw it out or run it back? And remember, you only die once, but you live every day.”

Mariah Carey Video Vanguard Award Speech

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Mariah Carey‘s latest achievement was far from a fantasy.

After all, the “Obsessed” singer accepted the highest achievement at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7: the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

With over three decades in the music industry, 16 solo studio albums and six Grammy wins, Mariah was honored with the lifetime achievement award by Ariana Grande. With the singer winning her first-ever VMA this year for her track “Type Dangerous,” she had a special message for the award show.

“I just had one question,” Mariah—who earned her first of nine nominations in 1996—began. “What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?”

It was all in jest, however, with her quickly adding, “I’m kidding. I love you!”

As Mariah accepted the award, she reflected on her attendance at the award show, including her presenting host LL Cool J with his Vanguard Award in 1997 and opening the 1998 ceremony with a “faux standoff” with Whitney Houston.
