Pepa Salazar Spain Spring 2026 Collection

Delicacy and sensuality collided in Pepa Salazar’s latest collection. Moving effortlessly from soft pinks to daring sheers and weaving in floral prints, feathers, lace, and velvet, the designer built on the hyper-feminine language she’s established so far. She explained how she played with “classic—or almost outdated—materials, sometimes cheesy or fussy within my usual framework, yet each is transformed into twisted T-shirts or miniskirts that completely reinvent their meaning.”

Polos were elevated with details that ranged from embroidered logos to strass-embellished phrases like “miss you” on the back, elements that are a signature of Salazar’s work. “There’s always a touch of autobiography or sharp humor in the collections,” she noted. Asymmetry is also key to her universe. “The tensions in the fabric come from my working method and the way I drape,” Salazar explained. “I love designing for women who are carefree—slightly chaotic, irresistibly charismatic. Tights almost become a little bag, carrying whatever we need: a passport, tickets, lipstick, or matches. And witnessing a spontaneously charming gesture in someone,” she added, offering a glimpse into her mental moodboard.

This diverse idea of the Salazar woman came alive in the casting of the collection; which included the singer Amore, the historian Ana Garriga, the actress Ana Rujas, and the stylist Helena Tejedor, along with the model Miriam Sanchez. “Each of them has her own voice, a talent they fully embrace; they are a statement in themselves, magnetic. They are the women who inspire me.”

“People often tell me my pieces have a sexy edge, but for me, the sexiest thing is talent,” Salazar revealed. “There used to be a clear contradiction between being an intellectual woman and embracing sexiness. I want to merge the two: I’m drawn to charismatic people with their own voice.” Her new collection seamlessly fused both things.

Ernesto Naranjo Spain Spring 2026 Collection

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

At the same time that Madrid’s Ernesto Naranjo is developing as an artist, he is trying to navigate the treacherous fashion landscape, which is increasingly dominated by mega brands and conglomerates. “As a young designer,” he said on a Zoom, “you feel that you have to follow a path and what other brands are doing,” despite disparities in resources. Having determined what success looks like for his own brand seems to have freed Naranjo’s imagination. Presented in a look-book format, this collection is the best he’s ever done.

Deciding not to put these clothes on the runway was deliberate. Despite its many pluses, Naranjo noted that the format “gives you that pressure to impress, and it’s really quick,” whereas he’s committed to a slower pace. The idea is to forge his own path forward by “going slow and step-by-step and in a straight line.”

A slower pace allows time for personal connection, which Naranjo knows a lot about because his business operates mainly as made-to-order. Having dedicated this collection to his private clients, he started by considering the feedback he received in fittings and focusing on the fabrics his customers like, including silk and tulle. The delicate balance between structure and flow is what gives these garments their electric charge. Naranjo is a fantastic colorist and keen on bold shapes. The structures over which he draped his fabrics this season weren’t stiff, as might be expected, but wide bands of elastic, which allowed him “to play with mobility and movement and to have that kind of easiness on the body.”

To that end, there were no closures; everything can be slipped on or off with ease. Naranjo frequently references artists; this season he mentioned Rebecca Horn and the dancer Loïe Fuller, the subject of a 2023 documentary who was known for the mesmerizing way she manipulated her flowing costumes and light as she moved. It’s the latter’s influence that is most evident in the collection. Naranjo transformed a simple stretch T-shirt shape into something spectacular using knotting. He was on trend with pannier-like shapes but eschewed historical references in favor of something much more modern and fluid. Sigh-worthy overlays of colored tulle on some looks took the collection in a romantic and ethereal direction.

LaZona Pictures Secures Spain on ‘Chopin, Chopin!’ From Playtime

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

LaZona Pictures, the distribution label of Gonzalo Salazar-Simpson’s Madrid-based LaZona group, has acquired Spanish rights to lavish Polish biopic “Chopin, Chopin!” (“Chopin, a Sonata in Paris”), handled for international sales by Paris’ Playtime.

Michał Kwieciński’s $17.5 million budget biopic of Frédéric Chopin, produced by Poland’s Akson Studio (“Katyń,” “Warsaw 44”), stars Eryk Kulm (“Filip”) as the prodigious pianist-composer, with Lambert Wilson (“The Matrix Resurrections”) as King Louis-Philippe.

The 19th-century-set drama tracks Chopin’s arrival in Paris at the age of 21 and his rapid ascent as the city’s romantic idol, before illness refocuses his obsession on composition.

The film boasts high-end craft talent including cinematographer Michał Sobociński (“The New Look”), production designer Katarzyna Sobańska (“Cold War”) and writer Bartosz Janiszewski (“Wataha”).

Shot largely in France with roughly 80% of the dialogue in French, the feature squarely targets upscale audiences and classical-music aficionados while courting broader crossover play via its sweeping, baroque aesthetic.

Having produced since 2003 Spanish top hits such as Enrique Urbizu’s thriller “No Rest for the Wicked” and Emilio Martínez Lázaro’s comedy “Spanish Affair,” the highest-grossing Spanish film ever in Spain, in 2023 LaZona broadened its horizons launching a new film distribution operation, LaZona Pictures, led from 2024 by former Latido Films executive Óscar Alonso.

“For us ‘Chopin, Chopin!’ is the first true European ‘super-production’ on the slate — a statement of intent to keep growing, step by step, but also to take bolder swings at films with wider audience potential,”  Alonso said at Valladolid’s Seminci, where LaZona’s co-production “Subsuelo,” by Fernando Franco, world premiered as part of the festival’s main competition.

Positioning “Chopin, Chopin” as a “rock-star portrait of the Romantic era,” Alonso advances that the Spanish release, scheduled for next year’s first quarter, will activate partnerships with opera houses, conservatories and music schools to extend reach beyond core arthouse circuits.

LaZona Pictures has been ramping up since last year with a curated line of arthouse and crossover titles. With “Chopin Chopin,” the company has begun early conversations with platforms and broadcasters to complement a planned theatrical rollout.

“Chopin, Chopin” has already scored top-tier festival exposure and is lining up further key berths, underscoring its positioning as a prestige event title.

“It’s the kind of ambitious European cinema that doesn’t come along every year,” he said. “We’re confident it can resonate with classical-music lovers and a much wider audience drawn to grand, emotionally charged storytelling.”

Closing Film at Seville European Film Festival

The film will screen out of competition as the closing night gala title at the upcoming edition of the Seville European Film Festival, which runs Nov. 7-15.

One of LaZona’s biggest hits to date as an indie distributor has been “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” a Venice Silver Lion and San Sebastian Audience Award winner.

Co-distributed in Spain with Caramel Films, Tunisian Kaouther Ben Hania’s film, one of the year’s most celebrated international titles, also screened at Valladolid as part of the Constellations sidebar.

ManéMané Spain Spring 2026 Collection

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

For the spring 2026 ManéMané collection, Miguel Becer joined forces with Ernesto Naranjo—a creative partnership that culminated in a dual collection. “We help and support each other. It’s about being able to talk every day, about finding someone who shares the same concerns, the same experiences,” said Becer of working with Naranjo, who has a studio nearby. The duo merged their respective universes to deliver a shared statement on contemporary fashion. “We have two very different points of view,  both in the identities we’ve built for our brands and in the creative formulas we use,” Becer added. “But we’ve been surprised: even though we each worked independently, the result feels bolder, stronger, and a lot more fun.”

So, what’s the secret behind this effortless synergy? “We share the same sense of humor.” Becer laughed. That playful spirit translates into every detail—from the cheeky hairstyles on the mannequins to the spontaneous energy of the collection itself. “Everything came together so naturally; every idea felt right,” said Becer. The dynamic between the two designers, he added, couldn’t be further from rivalry. “There’s no sense of competition between us, everything adds up.”

The collection draws inspiration from the folklore of Montehermoso, reimagining its traditional silhouettes through a contemporary lens. To achieve this, Becer revisited the signature volumes and intricate dresses of this tradition, honoring heritage without falling into nostalgia. Textures take center stage in this project, with an emphasis on natural fibers and artisanal techniques, paired with delicate embroidery and experimental finishes. A subtle historical wink runs through the palette—shades inspired by the women of early 20th-century Montehermoso, who crafted their garments from fabrics brought by traveling merchants.

This rich cultural legacy, reframed through a modern sensibility, evolves into a language that feels both versatile and quietly avant-garde—one that finds a natural dialogue with Naranjo’s creative world. “Yesterday, at an event, several of us from the industry ran into each other, and I went home thinking, how nice it is to have someone like you, someone you can share everything with, the good and the bad, and build a sense of community together,” Becer reflected. “That’s exactly what happens with Ernesto and me—it all comes so naturally.” And truly, there’s no greater fortune than that.

Dominnico Spain Spring 2026 Collection

by jummy84 October 21, 2025
written by jummy84

For spring, Dominnico’s Domingo Rodríguez Lázaro took on the 18th century, transforming his signature upcycled pieces into the ultimate dream for any devotee of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. Think corseted silhouettes, rococo volumes, and brocades colliding with taffetas and pop culture into an unmistakable vision the designer called “Rococunt.”

“I loved Coppola’s plasticized, over-the-top take; the delicate fabrics, the textures, the way it’s seen through a modern, rebellious lens,” Rodríguez Lázaro said. He has distilled that complex mix into his own signature codes, highlighting the fun and playfulness of the film, with reimagined French sleeves, bows, and other hallmarks of the era. “I use it as an aesthetic excuse,” he added. “[Marie Antoinette’s] figure fascinates me, and it’s amazing to explore past, present, and future—seeing how we evolve and reinvent the way we express ourselves through fashion.”

Some pieces came from a collaboration with Vinted, a natural partnership given Dominnico’s commitment to sustainability, including a look crafted from motorcycle suit linings and protective gear like knee pads which were transformed into panniers. Other looks, worn by models like Jessica Goicoechea and Bonnie Strange, blended leather and lace. “I followed the particular layering people used back then,” he explained. For accessories, he called on additional collaborators: shoes with Jeffrey Campbell, and jewelry with 1Concept. Together, they helped build a sensibility that defied the predictable. According to Rodríguez Lázaro, 18th century fashion asked for “neither permission nor forgiveness.”

Spain Submits ‘Sirât’ For Best International Feature Film

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Oliver Laxe’s Sirat, which won the jury prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has been submitted as Spain’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th annual Academy Awards.

The film was picked this afternoon by the Spanish Film Academy. Sirat was chosen from a shortlist of three films, which included Carla Simón’s Romería and Sorda, directed by Eva Libertad.

Sirat follows man (Sergi López) and his son (Bruno Núñez Arjona) arrive at a remote rave in the mountains of southern Morocco. They are looking for Mar, their daughter and sister, who disappeared months ago at one of these parties that never end. They hand out her photo over and over again, surrounded by electronic music and a kind of freedom they have never known. There, they decide to follow a group of ravers in search of one last party to be held in the desert, where they hope to find the missing young woman.

The film stars veteran actor Sergi Lopez alongside Bruno Núñez Arjona, Richard Bellamy, Stefania Gadda, and Joshua Liam Henderson.

Sirat is an original Movistar Plus+ film produced in collaboration with Filmes da Ermida, El Deseo, Uri Films and 4a4 Productions, distributed in Spain by Bteam Pictures. International sales are handled by The Match Factory. Neon will release the film in the United States.

Filmmaker Pablo Berger, who was Oscar-nominated last year for Robot Dreams, announced this pick this morning. He was joined by Spanish Academy President Fernando Méndez-Leite.

Spain’s pick last year was Saturn Return by Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodríguez. The film did not make the shortlist.

Sirat will screen at the upcoming San Sebastian Film Festival.
