“I just want to sing, and I want to shine!” Focus Features has revealed the first official trailer for a movie titled Song Sung Blue, a comedy based on a true story of a Neil Diamond cover duo. Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, Black Snake Moan, Footloose), this is a fictional adaptation of the documentary of the same name – about Lightning and Thunder, a Milwaukee husband and wife Neil Diamond tribute act, experience soaring success and devastating heartbreak in their musical journey together. The upbeat music film stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as Mike Sardina and Claire Sardina. Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it is never too late to find love and to follow your dreams. Also starring Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, Hudson Hensley, with Fisher Stevens and Jim Belushi. Well this looks like a blast! Uplifting and wholesome, even if it’s a tad cheesy, but sometimes chasing your dreams can be this much fun.

Here’s the first official trailer for Craig Brewer’s film Song Sung Blue, direct from Focus’ YouTube:

Tame Impala's "Loser" Is Our Song of the Week: Review

Tame Impala’s “Loser” Is Our Song of the Week: Review

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Each week, our Songs of the Week column highlights the best new tracks from the last seven days. This week, we dig into Tame Impala’s latest single “Loser,” the second offering from their upcoming album Deadbeat.

10 years ago, Kevin Parker released a Tame Impala song called “‘Cause I’m a Man” for the band’s beloved third album, Currents. A lot like “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes,” “‘Cause I’m a Man” took aim at habitual fuck-ups and the excuses that men make when they can’t escape their own destructive patterns, blaming biology with a clever shrug and letting the song’s majestic chorus do most of the talking.

This theme of Parker lamenting his inherent flaws resurfaces with even sharper self-awareness on Tame Impala’s latest single, “Loser,” the new offering from the band’s upcoming fifth album, Deadbeat, out October 17th. “Loser,” with its modest trot and front-and-center vocals from Parker, feels intrinsically linked to “‘Cause I’m a Man;” but where the songs merge with regards to tempo, lyrical content, and production, Parker makes “Loser” a lot spikier than his usual psych pop bliss.

Related Video

“I got the message, I learned my lesson,” Parker croons in his shimmering head voice, channeling both dejection and wistful yearning. He recalls Beck’s eternal dirtbag anthem of the same name in the chorus, offering a similarly dramatic suggestion regarding his pathetic streak: “I’m a loser, babe/ Do you want to tear my heart out?” It’s all deeply in line with the type of psych-tinged slacker rock that Parker is going for, complete with a sharp electric guitar line and enough space in between the drum beat to let his self-loathing breathe.

It’s a far cry even from prior single “End of Summer,” which provided a brief trip to the Tame Impala Acid House Factory and brought a repetitive buoyancy found mostly in the band’s extended odysseys like “Let It Happen.” But “Loser” is a lot less concerned with tripping out and much more focused on the id; the raw impulses and self-destructive tendencies that Parker usually wraps in layers of dreamy production are presented here with minimal cushioning, save for the touch of atmosphere on his vocals and the kaleidoscopic synths that warm up around the bridge.

But self-deprecation aside, “Loser” is great because it grooves. The song’s bounce and plucky keyboard touches are almost like a ’90s hip-hop cut; Parker’s descending pre-chorus, layered with harmonies, is sweet like syrup. It’s this tension between Parker’s harsh self-assessment and the song’s catchiness that makes “Loser” such an intriguing preview of Deadbeat. Even when he’s calling himself pathetic, he can’t help but make bangers.

Hatchie — “Lose It Again”

Hatchie’s back! With “Lose It Again,” the Australian dream pop star continues her use of psychedelic instrumentation and indestructible hooks for a powerful final product. “You are the star I’m chasing,” she sings, with romance swirling all around her; the song’s chorus is so open and cathartic that it sounds like something Hatchie has been waiting to say for ages. Following from the majestic peaks of her 2022 album Giving the World Away, “Lose It Again” once again serves as a pain reliever, soothing the listener with lush tones while livening them with another pure-hearted refrain. Gorgeous is an understatement. — P. Ragusa

Horse Jumper of Love — “Blue Factory Flame”

Run for Cover’s tribute compilation celebrating the work of Jason Molina — the creative mind behind Songs: Ohio and Magnolia Electric Co. — I Will Swim to You, drops today and includes previously released covers from folks like MJ Lenderman, Trace Mountains, Friendship, Lutalo, and more. Just prior to the release of the full project, the label shared Horse Jumper of Love’s take on the Didn’t It Rain cut “Blue Factory Flame.” In the hands of the slowcore experimentalists, the sparse and dejected tone of the original becomes thorny and jagged. There are tempo changes, wailing guitar lines soaked in reverb, and raw, strained lead vocals. It’s (blue) fire. — Jonah Krueger

SG Lewis — “Baby Blue” featuring Oliver Sim

Along with the release of his great new album Anemonia, SG Lewis has offered the standout cut “Baby Blue,” which features The xx’s Oliver Sim for a rather effervescent vocal performance. SG Lewis makes music for golden hour, like you can hear the warmth and light of the sun harmoniously meeting the revelry of night in real time. “Baby Blue” is exactly the kind of open-hearted, transcendent dance music he’s become known for, and just like his best collaborations — like “Heat” and “Hurting” — it’s endlessly replayable. — P. Ragusa

Shallowater — “Ativan”

Shallowater, one of our artists to watch in 2025, return today with their sophomore effort, the excellent (and excellently titled) God’s Gonna Give You a Million Dollars. The record is primarily made up of extended slowcore epics with a tinge of twang, and one of the most enthralling is the penultimate track “Ativan.” Extending almost to nine minutes in length, the tune boasts beautiful performances, an ever-compelling structure, and a grand payoff that rewards those patient enough to stick around for it. Come to think of it, those descriptions really could apply to just about the entire album. — J. Krueger

Softcult — “16/25”

After several years of standout EPs, Canadian rock duo Softcult (one of our 2025 artists to watch) have finally announced their debut album, When a Flower Doesn’t Grow, out in early 2026. They’ve shared the rollicking, furious “16/25,” an anthemic slice of shoegaze taking aim at predatory older men who groom younger women. “She doesn’t know how to love you,” they sing over pummeling drums, a line rendered less abstract each time they repeat it. “She’s 16, you’re 25.” Though cloaked in the warm haze of down-tuned guitars, that final lyric leaps out. She’s 16, you’re 25. Gross! — P. Ragusa

Sword II — “Even If It’s Just a Dream”

“Even If It’s Just a Dream,” the first single from Sword II’s recently announced new album Electric Hour, finds the Atlanta outfit embracing their dreamiest, most melodic tendencies. Over top acoustic chords and jangly electric lines, as well as synth arpeggios that wouldn’t sound all that out of place on a Beach House tune, the track is a shockingly warm and cozy affair — especially when juxtaposed with the angsty imagery of the music video. — J. Krueger

Justin Bieber’s ‘Swag II’: Every Song Ranked

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Billboard sizes up the 23 new songs on Bieber’s semi-surprise sequel set.

9/5/2025

Justin Bieber

Renell Medrano

Swag, swag, swag… on II. The suddenly very prolific pop superstar Justin Bieber announced over social media on Thursday (Sept. 4) that midnight would bring with it the surprise sequel to his equally unexpected Swag album from July. Midnight came and went without the suddenly highly anticipated release, but just around 3:30 a.m. ET, the set appeared on YouTube, trickling to other DSPs shortly after. Swag II was now officially with us.

The 23-track set follows in the organic-sounding, warm-feeling alt-R&B mode of the first Swag, with many of the same sonic architects (Dijon, Carter Lang, Mk.gee), and even a couple overlapping feature guests in Lil B and Eddie Benjamin. New to the Swag is Afrobeats star Tems, British singer-songwriter Bakar and ’00s Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris. But no skits this time — Druski makes nary an appearance across the set, although “I’m not the one” and “It’s not clocking to you” references are both made in the album’s lyrics. And the blockbuster sequel closes with the longest Bieber album cut to date: “Story of God,” a nearly eight-minute spoken-word retelling of the Adam and Eve story, with Justin narrating as Adam.

Ultimately, the set will unquestionably be worth the wait for Beliebers, who now have a whopping 44 tracks’ worth of Swag to keep them cuddly in the cold-weather months that lie ahead. And with Bieber’s sneaky productivity of late, who knows if there might even be a third Swagstallment still waiting in the wings. Until then, though, here’s our early ranking of the 23 tracks new to Swag II.

  • “Need It”

“I could put you on the map,” Bieber promises — the kind of offer made by a man who really does need it bad, as he admits on the chorus. Horny Bieber is (almost) always welcome, but unless you’re really a fiend for cinnamon sugar, both the lyrics and production are a little lacking in the specifics that really make such a song sing.

  • “I Think You’re Special” (feat. Tems)

“Love is over everything/ This is what I believe.” Justin has been pretty consistent on this front, particularly lately, but if you want more evidence to this effect, take “I Think You’re Special” — not the most melodically or lyrically dazzling song on Swag II, but one that feels significant as a personal statement of some sort for the Bieb.

  • “Story of God”

Bieber gets lost in the Garden of Eden, retelling the foundational bible story in spoken-word from a first-person perspective over glowing synths and yearning backing vocals. It feels too personal and deeply felt to rank last on a list like this — and is undoubtedly worth at least one full listen — but your replay mileage certainly may vary on this one over the course of nearly eight minutes.

  • “Dotted Line”

The most interlude-y track on Swag II, purposefully lo-fi (though with crystal-clear backing vocals) as Bieber sings about walking a thousand miles to get to you (take that Proclaimers!), with the only percussion being the slapped body of acoustic guitar. Very pretty, though it hardly feels essential, particularly nearly 20 tracks into the sequel set.

  • “All the Way”

Bieber plays his own backing group on “All the Way,” echoing all his lyrics in a separate channel (“I can feel your eyes taking over me” (“Takin’ over me!“)) as he offers to take his love the distance. The multi-vocal tracking is by far the most interesting thing about the song, but it does make you wonder if some kind of “Hey Ya!” type music video treatment is in his future.

  • “Open Up Your Heart” (feat. Eddie Benjamin)

With power ballad synths and drums that wouldn’t feel out of place on The Weeknd’s After Hours, piano that verges on Bruce Hornsby-esque and a guest vocal from Eddie Benjamin, “Open Up Your Heart” should probably feel like the climax to Swag II. And maybe it would with a slightly stronger chorus sentiment than “Open up your heart/ Tell me what you’re really feeling.” Or maybe it would if Bieber had actually gotten Bruce Hornsby on the track.

  • “Poppin My Shit” (feat. Hurricane Chris)

Hurricane Chris on a Justin Bieber album?! Sure, why not — there’s not a ton else to the song, but Shreveport, Louisana’s finest sounds pretty good over the album’s trappiest production yet, and he closes it with a co-sign that would undoubtedly make 10-year-old Bieb’s heart squeal with glee: “Got some friends and they all love Justin Bieber.”

  • “Witchya”

“In my head, it shoulda been easy/ How come it ain’t easy to let it go?” Slow, swiveling drums and tender guitar give extra weight to Bieber’s late-night-feeling queries on “Witchya.” The song lacks the knockout chorus to really tie it all together, but his multi-tracked vocals interplaying with one another in the outro makes it a captivating listen until the end.

  • “Better Man”

A love song laced with falsetto and built around sweet lyrics like “If I know one thing that’s true/ You know exactly what to do and it’s amazing” — not spectacular, but effective. And another Spider-Man reference, because apparently that’s the thing for Canadian pop stars going R&B in 2025.

  • “I Do”

“I Do” trades the organic-sounding drums of the set’s first few tracks for skittering machine hits, paired with surprisingly Cocteau Twins-like synth atmospherics and bluesy guitar figures seemingly played form another room. Bieb proclaims on the chorus, “I mean it when I say that I do… You’ll always be the one that I choose” — a potential wedding first-dance song, if you and your spouse are really into 4AD.

  • “Don’t Wanna” (feat. Bakar)

Riding the kind of bass-led rhythm that Quincy Jones might’ve engineered for peak MJ — but kept spare, without all the horns and extra layers that Q would’ve traditionally piled on — “Don’t Wanna” is still a mean-enough groove that Bieb calls in reinforcements to help corral it in the form of British singer-songwriter Bakar. It’s a good match of voices and vibes, though you can’t help feeling there’s another level of release waiting for the song that it never quite gets to.

  • “Lyin’”

It’s clear at this point that Bieber and his alt-R&B dream team can crank out winners like this by the dozens at this point: sentimental, comforting, gently upbeat love songs built around simple sentiments like “I wasn’t lying when I said that I loved you/ And I don’t like it when I feel so far from you.” It might be a little hard to keep this one discrete from the other half-dozen similar gems on Swag I, but it’ll always feel damn good when it’s on.

  • “Oh Man”

You might expect something boisterous from that title, but the gentle piano twinkles that open “Oh Man” make it clear the titular exclamation is gonna be more awestruck than lusty. That part of the chorus ends up being a bit underwhelming, but the tick-tocking beat is one of the album’s most alluring, and the verses are also some of Bieb’s strongest (“When the telephone rings, I just feel the slightest sting/ Let it ring, let it ring, let me catch my….”)

  • “Safe Space” (feat. Lil B)

“I’ll be your safe space/ Want to take the pain away,” Bieber promises over a cocoon of synths, sounding like he might actually be able to live up to his promises. Lil B, still around from Swag I, helps count down the song to lift off, as it does what other songs on the sequel album tease doing but never quite deliver on — it rockets into the club stratosphere — and it’s extremely cathartic, though a little unclear why this intimate song was the best choice for such a treatment.

  • “Eye Candy”

“Ooh the first one’s free, the second’ll cost you” is a fantastic way to start off a love-as-drug (or love-as-sugary-confection) song — and the popping shuffle of “Eye Candy” keeps winning from there, with clever chorus lyrics like “You taste so sweet/ When you’re looking at me.” No more “spread your wings and open up” lyrics after this one though, please, Justin.

  • “Bad Honey”

The skipping groove starts out like Bonnie Raitt’s “Nick of Time,” but turns even funkier, as Bieber feels the canned heat in his heels over twisting guitars and off-kilter synths: “I might just go give you my loving/ I might just give you a piece of my mind.” This one will absolutely kill live if Bieber ever takes his Swag show on the road.

  • “Everything Hallelujah”

“Let’s take a walk hallelujah/ Sun is out hallelujah/ I’m kissin’ you hallelujah/ Dream of you hallelujah.” So yes, it’s a pretty literal lyrical reflection of the “Everything Hallelujah” title — which could easily feel like an eye-roll, but actually feels quite heartfelt and powerful from Bieber over gently picked acoustic and angelic synths, without ever feeling the least bit schlocky. The gospel Justin Bieber album feels like a safe bet in the next decade.

  • “Petting Zoo”

Perhaps the most Journals-like track on Swag II, “Petting Zoo” sees Bieber enjoy further adventures in vocal layering over some desolate-sounding guitar. It’s an effective sound for a song about being in an argument you don’t much want to be in, and Bieber sells it with little moments like him slurring his defense about being drunk, or transforming his verse lyric from “I don’t wanna fight” to “I guess we’re fighting.” He’s more mature about it than he was 12 years ago, anyway.

  • “When It’s Over”

Maybe the heaviest falsetto we’ve ever heard throughout a song from Bieber — rendering him almost unrecognizable — “When It’s Over” ends up being one of the album’s most striking cuts, making you feel his vocals in a totally new and unexpectedly moving way. Bieb really may have to start kicking up a percentage to How to Dress Well if there’s ever gonna be a Swag III, though.

  • “Moving Fast”

The guitar riffs seem to get more and more distant as Swag II goes, and by the time of “Moving Fast,” it basically sounds like it’s stuck in the 1930s — perhaps somewhat ironic for its title. It’s a bit of a misdirect, though, as the song soon builds with a bass burble and a synth sigh, Bieber repeating “I roll the windows down and I’m slowing down for you” — and all of a sudden a pulsing-then-skittering beat crawls out from underneath the groove. It never quite explodes as it threatens to, but watching the light travel up the fuse is still transfixing.

  • “Speed Demon”

Over an old-school boom-bap beat and warm guitar chops, Bieber sing-raps his way through references to “heat checking these chickens” and (again!) his now increasingly-played “Is it clocking to you?” meme. It works because he’s so firmly in lockstep with the groove, which evokes summer early-’90s nostalgia in the absolute best way.

  • “Mother in You”

Bieber’s ode to his son Jack is the first acoustic-based song on the set, with gorgeously stereo-separated guitars mic’d so that you can hear every little scrape across the strings. The song is similarly piercing in its lyrical detail: “I remember the moment at 2:00 in the morning I saw the reflection in you/ And you looked right through me, like you really knew me/ So much of her in you.” A little sappy but damn if it doesn’t hit.

  • “Love Song”

A tough title to make a distinctive pop song out of, but the production of “Love Song” shimmers from the opening rustic, rumbling piano, which combines with some uncharacteristically hard-hitting drum songs for one of the punchiest sonic beds Bieber has worked with in this era. And he really earns it with the chorus: “I wanna write you a love song/ I wanna write you a good one you can’t stop singing to me.” This one just might do the trick.

Watch Latto and Ice Spice’s Video for New Song “Gyatt”

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Latto and Ice Spice have come together for a new song called “Gyatt.” It comes with a new video directed by Hidji World. The wrestling-themed clip boasts cameos from internet personalities Deshae Frost and Tylil James and Love Island star JaNa Craig. Watch it below.

“Gyatt” is co-produced by Go Grizzly, Pooh Beatz, RiotUSA, and Supakaine. It’s Latto’s first single since May’s “Somebody” and Ice Spice’s first since the Katseye collaboration “Gnarly (Ice Spice Remix).”

“Gyatt” also puts a rest to any simmering beef that Latto and Ice Spice may have had. Some fans have speculated that Ice Spice was taking shots at Latto on “Think U the Shit (Fart),” and Latto herself may have played into the narrative when she posted on X, “Think I’m the shit , bitch ?????”

Ice Spice, in an interview with Rolling Stone, later discussed the apparently feud. “I feel like if we ever spoke and I asked her ‘What’s the issue?’ it’d be like a blank stare. It’d really be no issue whatsoever. Especially from me,” she said. “I can understand a friendly competition, but I just feel like at this point it’s a joke that she’s just dragged out, and it’s just not even funny. Like, bro, ‘Think U the Shit’ is from January. You’re going to post a piece of shit cake to announce something that’s good news for you? But it is kind of a compliment because you’re taking something that’s supposed to be a fun moment for you and you’re making it about me… again.”

Watch Fred Durst confront Instagram drummer for “leaking” new Limp Bizkit song

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst has “confronted” an Instagram drummer for supposedly leaking new music from the band on social media.

On Thursday (September 4), a clip was shared to their official account that sees social media star Kristina Rybalchenko playing a beat reminiscent of the band’s ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water’ era, featuring lines: “When you’re hot, you’re hot, when you’re not, you’re not.”

The whole thing, however, is soon revealed to be a marketing tactic by the band, as the Los Angeles-based drummer is then interrupted by frontman Fred Durst himself, who pops around the door and says, “Kristina, that’s our new song, it’s not out yet, how did you get that? Please don’t put it on the internet!”

It comes after the band confirmed that they were back in the studio to work on new music last year. Their last album was 2021’s ‘Still Sucks’, itself their first LP in a decade. In a three-star review, NME described it as a “lean and self-aware party-starter of a sixth album” and wrote: “‘Still Sucks’ doesn’t feel laboured or overthought and never overstays its welcome.

“Limp Bizkit aren’t out to rewrite their history or reach a new generation. They don’t care if you still think they suck – they still know how to have a good time, and won’t stop rollin’.”

Last month, Limp Bizkit headlined Reading Festival, scoring a four-star review with NME. “There is no mistaking that the energy the band harness during their hour-long set has been meticulously perfected over the years to make this the most quintessential ‘Limp Bizkit show’ possible,” wrote Liberty Dunworth.

“Their set may not have all the bells and whistles of headliners Bring Me The Horizon. But between cheeky interludes of Metallica and Pantera classics, a surprisingly heartfelt cover of The Who’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes’, and inviting a young one fan to rip through a ‘Full Nelson’ duet, this is still one of the most engaging sets of the night.

Elsewhere, Durst’s ex-wife Kseniya Beryazina put her dress from the former couple’s
wedding up for auction earlier this month.

Get Ready For The Action-Packed Baaghi 4, Powered By The Soulful “Marjaana” Song | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

As Baaghi 4 counts down to its big theatrical release on September 5, fervor among fans is building to a fever pitch. With good advance bookings and a fervent fan base hungry for high-octane action, the new offering from one of Bollywood’s biggest action franchises is all ready to storm the box office. To add to the excitement, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has released the film’s emotionally charged new song called Marjaana.

Marjaana: An Emotional Musical Experience

Not merely a love ballad, Marjaana is the emotional center of Baaghi 4. The song traverses love, loss, sacrifice, and resilience, bringing to fore the intense emotional conflicts of the film’s heroes. Performed emotively by B Praak and Siddhant Mishraa, and penned by iconic lyricist Sameer Anjaan, the song fuses haunting melody with meaningful lyrics.

With images of Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Harnaaz Sandhu, and Sonam Bajwa, the song offers a cinematic image of yearning and emotional anguish amidst action and battle mayhem.

Stellar Cast and Visionary Storytelling

Baaghi 4 stars Tiger Shroff as the indefatigable rebel once again playing the title role of the unrelenting rebel who battles against adversity. Supporting him are Sanjay Dutt, who adds heft and gravity, and Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu and popular starlet Sonam Bajwa, who infuse new energy and emotional complexity into the story.

Directed by A. Harsha, whose own slick, stylized action and knuckle-whitening storytelling are among the best in the business, the story and screenplay by Sajid Nadiadwala promise a mix of emotional journeys and big-budget action set pieces that raise the film above the level of a standard action movie.

True to the Baaghi franchise tradition, Baaghi 4 promises to bring bone-breaking stunts, dramatic explosion, and a gritty vengeance and redemption story. With Marjaana, though, the filmmakers show us that beneath this action series lies a heart, an emotional core where personal struggles are as fierce as physical battles.

Final Countdown Begins

With only a day to spare, the hysteria surrounding Baaghi 4 cannot be denied. With its emotionally charged music, a power-filled cast, and high-octane action, the movie is set to be a box office storm. Audience members can experience the rebellion on the big screen from September 5.

The new single features on Byrne’s upcoming album, Who Is the Sky?, arriving Friday

David Byrne swapped his big suit for an orange tracksuit on The Tonight Show during an intimate performance at Rough Trade NYC in Rockefeller Plaza.

In the episode aired on Wednesday, the former Talking Heads frontman performed his new single “What Is The Reason For It?” from his upcoming album, Who Is the Sky?. As Byrne sang the chorus, “What is the reason for it? Why is it there? Is it my body or my brain?,” he danced alongside his backup singers and band in matching jackets and pants.

The song is the fifth track on Who Is the Sky?, which is set for release on Friday, and features Paramore’s Hayley Williams. The Kid Harpoon-produced album follows 2018’s American Utopia, and also features contributions from St. Vincent (whom he collaborated with on 2012’s Love This Giant), the Smile’s Tom Skinner, and more.

In a previous statement, Byrne said that the record is “a chance to be the mythical creature we all harbor inside. A chance to step into another reality. A chance to transcend and escape from the prison of our ‘selves.’”

When speaking to late-night host Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, Byrne said that although he cautioned Kid Harpoon (who has worked with Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, and Maggie Rogers) that his songs were a “little bit left field” compared to music from his previous collaborators, the producer embraced Byrne’s new project.

Just a few weeks after revealing that he is engaged to Mala Gaonkar, Byrne announced that along with his album release, he would also be tying the knot this week, and shared a playlist of instrumental songs that will play at his wedding dinner. The playlist includes 42 songs, and a focus on Latin music, including songs such as “Pa Japón” by El Alfa, “Perfidia” by Café Tacvba, and “Luz de Luna” by marimba-punk group Son Rompe Pera.
