Stephen A. Smith Criticizes Jimmy Kimmel Over Charlie Kirk Joke

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Stephen A. Smith had smoke for Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday’s (Sept. 18) episode of his SiriusXM show Straight Shooter. The ESPN commentator weighed in on Kimmel’s recent remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and he wasn’t impressed.

“The only thing that I would say as it pertains to Jimmy Kimmel is, where was the joke?” Smith said with a straight face. “Because you’re a late night host, and obviously that has a comedic attachment to it. Where was the joke? Obviously, it wasn’t anything funny about that.”

Kimmel, who usually mixes political jabs into his monologues, addressed Kirk’s Sept. 10 killing during Monday’s (Sept. 15) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The activist was fatally shot while speaking with students at Utah Valley University. Authorities later arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson in connection to the shooting.

On air, Kimmel suggested that Trump supporters were trying to twist the tragedy for political gain. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said.

In consequence, ABC announced Wednesday (Sept. 17) that it would indefinitely suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the backlash, and Nexstar confirmed it would be pulling the show from its ABC affiliates. Kimmel himself has yet to publicly comment on his suspension.

Smith, who actually guest-hosted Kimmel’s show in 2021, took a stern approach reminding media figures that words can carry weight. “In the times we’re living in, you have to be very, very careful about what you say when you open your mouth,” he warned. “And you can’t associate a political group of people with a murderer.”

He also called out former President Donald Trump, who celebrated Kimmel’s suspension on Truth Social. “That goes for both sides,” Smith stressed. “President Trump shouldn’t be coming out of his mouth talking about how … ‘this was instigated and stirred on by the Left.’”

Take a look below at Straight Shooter, where Stephen A. Smith goes off about Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks.

You know it’s a whole vibe when an NFL star pulls up to the sidelines and turns a football game into a whole moment. ZaDarius Smith didn’t just show up to play — he stunted on the sidelines with his girl, Kash Doll, who was out here flexing a custom jersey that repped his name and number.

Kash Doll Blushes As Za’Darius Smith Slides Over For Autograph

ZaDarius Smith sprinted off the field with a sharpie ready, sliding right up to Kash Doll to autograph her corset-style jersey like it was the hottest merch drop of the season. Kash was dripping in iced-out chains, rocking flawless waves, and that VIP lanyard to remind everyone she’s not just there to watch—she’s bossing the game day scene. When he signed her top, she immediately turned around like the ultimate fan girl — and honestly, who could blame her? The whole thing was pure couple goals, no cap.

One Lil’ Autograph Had The TL Running Plays

Now, listen! People did full-on sprints and hurdles straight to The Shade Room comment section. While some were riding with Kash Doll, others weren’t here for ZaDarius signing autographs mid-game like the scoreboard ain’t watching.

One Instagram user @shy_yonce said, “Her outfits is lit EVERY D*MN GAME 🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍”

This Instagram user @sovereignshay joked, “That’s nice & all but y’all f*cking my parlay up.“

Meanwhile,  Instagram user @__tnd added, “That’s why we losing , he worried about the wrong stuff right now 😫”

While Instagram user @diamoniqueslife wrote, “WE 19 TO 7 AGAINST THE RAMS AND YOU OVER HERE SIGNING SHIRTS WTF“

Instagram user @_mamassss.__ shared, “I LOVE this for her 😍❤️❤️”

Finally, Instagram user @msrabanne commented, “I actually love her in her WAG bag😍😍😍

Philly Got Za’Darius, But Kash Been Locked In

Kash Doll don’t play about her man, her man, her man — and she made sure the whole timeline knew it. After Za’Darius Smith officially signed his one-year, $9 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL vet was all smiles on Instagram, pen in hand, captioning the post with a simple “Year 11.” But before the ink could even dry, Kash slid into the comments with a “Congratulations” and a fire emoji, keeping it cute but making it very clear: she’s locked in and cheering loud. Furthermore, a recent video shows the rapper iced-out as she supports her man from the suites during his first game. Either way, one thing’s for sure — Kash is going support her man like it’s his big day, every day.

‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ season two has been delayed indefinitely

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

The second season of Mr & Mrs Smith has been delayed indefinitely, according to new reports.

As shared by Deadline, the production of season two of the Prime Video series has been pushed back, and the future of the show remains uncertain.

The serialised adaptation of the 2005 movie – which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie – was created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane.

In season one, which arrived in February 2024, Glover and Maya Erskine starred as John and Jane Smith; aliases under which they pretended to be spouses and took on high-risk espionage missions, before developing feelings for one another.

That season ended on a cliffhanger, with the two getting involved in a gunfight, and it being left uncertain who survived. It was then confirmed that Anora‘s Mark Eydelshteyn and Yellowjackets‘ Sophie Thatcher had been cast for the second season, and it was widely rumoured that they would be taking on brand new Jane and John roles rather than replacing Glover and Erskine, with the show taking an anthology approach and bringing in new leads each season.

Now though, it looks like it will still be a while to wait until season two arrives, and Deadline has reported that the delay is due to issues with the cast.

Earlier this year, there were rumours that Francesca Scorsese, Lily-Rose Depp, Gael Garcia Bernal and more would be having guest slots in the series, however, these have seemingly been put on ice too as a spokesperson told the outlet that deals have not closed for the new season.

The spokesperson also said that while the crew were looking to start production this autumn, this has been put on an indefinite hiatus. Sources then told the outlet that New Regency – which co-produces the show with Amazon MGM – are hoping to begin pre-production at the end of this year and start shooting in 2026.

Showrunner Francesca Sloane has moved to HBO amid the delay, as reported by Empire, and will be writing the opening episode of Big Little Lies season three.

Mr & Mrs Smith’s first season received a three-star review from NME, with David Renshaw writing: “Though they lack the red-hot chemistry of Pitt and Jolie, the relationship between Glover and Erskine feels genuine. An episode midway through finds them free of their murderous day job and able to just hang out.

“It almost feels like a shame when the covert missions come back into play. And therein lies the problem with the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith; fans of both Atlanta and Pen15 have seen this couple do much more personal, unique and intriguing work elsewhere. In comparison, this all feels a little cold-blooded.”

Stephen A. Smith Criticizes Celebrating Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Stephen A. Smith used his platform on Thursday (Sep. 11) to call out those celebrating the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

On his podcast, the ESPN commentator delivered a passionate response to the online reaction following Kirk’s killing at Utah Valley University. “I don’t care what his political beliefs were. I don’t care what he felt,” Smith said. “He’s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else, apparently.”

Smith went further, criticizing the celebratory posts he saw online. “And then I’m going online, and I’m seeing people celebrating it! Shame! Shame on you!” he added. However, he also commended the New York Yankees for pausing Wednesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers to honor Kirk with a moment of silence and an image on the jumbotron.

“Props to the New York Yankees organization last night for having a moment of silence,” Smith continued. “We’re not supposed to condone stuff like this. We’re not supposed to say it’s OK. I don’t give a damn who you are, Black, White or anything in between! I hope the FBI and law enforcement catch this individual and do what needs to be done with him.”

Reactions to Kirk’s death included Team USA BMX rider Chelsea Wolfe, who faced scrutiny after posting celebratory messages on Instagram. MSNBC dismissed political analyst Matthew Dowd for suggesting Kirk’s rhetoric led to his death, and the Carolina Panthers fired communications staffer Charlie Rock for social media posts downplaying the tragedy.

Kirk was fatally shot by a lone gunman on Wednesday (Sep. 10), as he addressed students at Utah Valley University.

Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in St. George, Utah, on Friday (Sep. 12), according to officials and sources who spoke with ABC News. His capture came after investigators circulated photos of the suspect, which Robinson’s father recognized. At a Friday morning press conference, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest with the words, “Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. We got him.”

Facebook screenshot

Cox explained that Robinson’s father confronted his son after realizing he matched the images released by police. Though Robinson initially refused to surrender, he eventually agreed. His father then reached out to a youth pastor who also serves as a U.S. Marshals task force officer, who coordinated with the FBI to ensure Robinson stayed put until authorities arrived.

He also publicly thanked Robinson’s family “for doing the right thing.” He also detailed surveillance footage showing Robinson arriving on campus on Wednesday at 8:29 A.M. in a gray Dodge Challenger. At the time, Robinson wore a maroon T-shirt, light shorts, light shoes, and a black hat with a white logo. Investigators say he later changed into dark clothing before the shooting, then switched back to his original outfit afterward.

Authorities also revealed bizarre engravings on unfired shell casings recovered at the scene. One read, “Hey fascist! CATCH!” accompanied by arrows pointing in multiple directions. Another contained lyrics from the Italian World War II resistance song “Bella Ciao.” A third read, “If you read this, you are GAY Lmao.”

Sheridan Smith Interview on Ann Ming, ITV Drama

Sheridan Smith Interview on Ann Ming, ITV Drama

by jummy84 August 29, 2025
written by jummy84

English actress and singer Sheridan Smith has not only made a name for herself with the role of Ruth “Rudi” Smith in Gavin & Stacey, but also by portraying real-life people. In the TV drama Cilla, she played English singer, actress and TV host Cilla Black. The role won her the best drama performance honor at the National Television Awards and the best actress honor at the TV Choice Awards. And in the TV series Mrs Biggs, she portrayed Charmian Biggs, the wife of the famous train robber Ronnie Biggs, winning the BAFTA TV Award for best actress for her performance.

Now, Smith stars in ITV‘s four-part drama I Fought the Law as Ann Ming, an English woman whose 22-year-old daughter was murdered in 1989. After two unsuccessful trials, the defendant admitted to the murder. But the 800-year-old British double jeopardy law prevented him from further prosecution. After all, the double jeopardy rule prevented people from being tried twice for the same offense.

Ming reacted with 15 years of campaigning to change the law. Thanks to her efforts, the Criminal Justice Act 2003 created an exception, allowing an acquitted defendant to be tried a second time for a serious offense. That opened the way for a retrial and 2006 conviction in the case of Julie’s murder. The man was sentenced to a life term.

Jamie Crichton (All Creatures Great and Small, The Last Kingdom, Grantchester) wrote I Fought the Law, based on Ming’s book For the Love of Julie. Smith stars as Ming in the drama produced by Hera Pictures (What It Feels Like for a Girl, Mary & George, Hamnet), in association with All3Media International.

“The drama follows the tragic, moving and deeply inspiring journey of the Ming family after the murder,” highlights an ITV synopsis of the series. “In the wake of multiple police failings, Ann relentlessly pressures the authorities to uncover the truth and ensure the man responsible is brought to justice — despite initially seeming he will get away with murder.”

I Fought the Law launches on ITV and STV on Sunday, Aug. 31, with the series streaming on ITVX and STV Player, followed by a documentary about Ming’s historic campaign called I Fought the Law: The Ann Ming Story.

Star Smith and writer Crichton talked to THR about creating the drama series and the challenges it provided, working with Ming, and why it never mentions her daughter’s murderer by name.

“She’s not a very well-known name in this country, and yet she should be, and hopefully she will be,” Crichton said about Ming. “The same is true for the double jeopardy law. I think if you stopped someone on the street and said, ‘What’s double jeopardy,’ they probably wouldn’t know.”

He saw a documentary that moved him, though. “It was Ann’s story, and it was such an incredible story. I couldn’t believe I didn’t know it,” he recalled. “So, I took it to Liza Marshall at Hera, and thankfully, she loved it too.”

The question of who should portray Ming in the drama wasn’t really a question for the writer and producer. “We both said the same name,” Crichton told THR. “I feel everybody says, whenever you’re talking about actors, ‘Oh, they were at the top of our list.’ But genuinely, I had three names and said I’m going to start with the first one. And I said, Sheridan Smith. And Liza said: That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Perfect!”

Smith was quickly on board. “Liza gave me Jamie’s brilliant script, episode one, and I read it,” she told THR. “I had the same reaction that they had. ‘How do I not know this story?’ This is incredible. I was thrilled that they wanted me. And I’m very grateful that I got to portray Ann.”

Smith prepared for the role by researching online, watching the documentary, other material and Ming’s book.

“We only met once,” the star says about Ming. “I had watched her so much and studied her that I just started doing mannerisms and things. It was my friend who was on set who noticed it first. ‘You are walking differently.’ I was like: ‘What?’ And she said, ‘You’re doing this twitchy thing with your eye.’ No offense to Ann, but I just try to embody the role.”

Is it easier or harder to portray a real rather than a fictional person? “It is scarier playing a real person, especially someone like Ann, who’s changed this 800-year-old law,” Smith told THR. “I felt such responsibility to do her story justice, because she’s trusted these guys to tell her story. And at the end of the day, it’s her real life. It’s not just a TV show, it’s her life and her family, and it matters.”

That meant extra hard work to get things right. “So I put myself through the wringer and really tried to feel exactly how she would have felt,” the star explained. “I know I can’t, because I haven’t been through that trauma, but I would beat myself up if I didn’t make myself feel at least a fraction of what she went through. So it was quite a tough shoot, but it was amazing, and an amazing team.”

That includes a great costume and makeup department, Smith lauded the crew. “I couldn’t even see myself in the mirror,” she recalled. “It just wasn’t me, and I didn’t see where I was. So it was a magic shoot. I’m really pleased. And I hope Ann is pleased. We’ve done well, if Ann’s happy.”

Crichton offered that getting Smith to portray Ming was key. “It’s impossible to speak for Ann, but I don’t know whether she would have let us tell her story if we hadn’t said we got Sheridan Smith on board,” he told THR. “As soon as we said her name, she said that she absolutely adores her.”

How did he, as the writer, pick what parts of Ming’s extended campaign to focus on in the series? “It’s a big span of time, which means you must make editorial decisions, dramatic decisions,” he said. “Ultimately, it’s all about trying to get the emotional story right. Ann’s book is so powerful. It does so much of the work, if you like. When I started really feeling like this is going to work was when I made the decision to tell the whole story from Ann’s point of view.”

Explained Crichton: “So often, especially when you’re dealing with stories that have true crime elements, the story is told through the procedural point of view, from the detective’s point of view. So you’re always going to meet suspects who are being interviewed. I decided, even though it’s quite a challenge, quite tricky, to tell it all from Ann’s point of view as a mother. Obviously, what that means is you’re restricting yourself to a certain extent, you’re not able to see what you would think as an audience of as being the classic interesting scenes. For example, I knew I would have to have police come in and talk to Ann to catch her up” on the status of the case.

His worries vanished soon, though. “I first thought that’s going to be the worst story ever told. But actually it was really liberating, because it’s nothing you normally see,” Crichton said. “And the great thing is that you put Ann in every single scene, or 99 percent of the scenes. And once you make that decision, then it’s about the emotion, and about how you tell a story that conveys the appropriate emotional beats at the appropriate times.”

Being in so many scenes meant that Smith was constantly in action or getting ready for a scene. “I feel that I was going slightly nuts,” she recalled. “But it’s also a gift. I mean, Ann is constantly in a state of anxiety, and no one’s listening to her, and everyone is shutting doors in her face. And what’s brilliant about her story and Jamie’s scripts is that I could get myself panicked sometimes, because it’s just so hard to turn it off. It’s this hamster wheel, and you want to keep going.”

What was Ming’s reaction to what she saw in I Fought the Law? “I think she loved it. I think she really got a buzz,” said Crichton. Smith also had some fun in between all the dramatic scenes, including in a scene that shows Ming barging into a room. “There’s so much trauma in it, but those moments where a strength comes through are great,” the actress shared. “And it’s great fun to play that and have a real release and, after doing lots of crying and internalized emotion or angst, be able to really show how Ann flew in there.”

The murderer of Ming’s daughter never gets mentioned by name in the series, and that was a core choice Crichton made early on. “That was really important to me from day one, because this is Ann’s story,” he told THR. “It was always important to me that this is not about the killer. Not only is he not named, you never hear his name in any of the four episodes, but he’s not even in the credits. The actor who played him, Jack James Ryan, graciously agreed to this. This is not his story.”

Concluded the writer: “So often, especially when you’re watching true crime stories, they’re about the gruesomeness of the killer, and that’s where a fascination comes. That’s the intrigue of the macabre. And it feels so exploitative of some poor family’s grief and trauma to make a piece of entertainment. So, for me, it was just always important that this is not his story. This is Ann’s story. “

Smith also wrapped up with that in mind. “This is a story about a woman who sees something that’s unjust and has been around for 800 years,” she told THR. “She was so horrified, obviously, by the death of Julie, but she was also so determined that this was not right. The strength in her is amazing. She just kept fighting. It’s about this little working-class woman who takes on the establishment amd wins. And I do think that that’s such a powerful story.”

Amy Adams, Matt Smith Join Cast

Things are heating up for one of the few announced Star Wars projects on the horizon, as Lucasfilm has announced a bunch of new cast members for Star Wars: Starfighter, which starts production today. Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams will all joining Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy’s new space adventure, set to premiere in 2027.

There are some heavy-hitters in that list: Adams is one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation with six Oscar nominations and a slew of credits including Arrival, Enchanted, and The Master, while also serving as Zack Snyder’s Lois Lane. Goth, meanwhile, has become a horror queen thanks to Ti West’s X trilogy, as well as roles in Infinity Pool and Susperia — she’ll next be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein later this year.

Pierre’s credits include the acclaimed limited series The Underground Railroad, playing Malcolm X in NatGeo’s Genius: MLK/X, and portraying a young Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King. And Smith’s latest movie, Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, hits theaters on August 29th, but the Doctor Who and Crown star has recently become a staple across multiple major franchises thanks to appearances in Terminator Genisys, Morbius (not his fault), and House of the Dragon.

In a statement, Levy said that “I feel a profound sense of excitement and honor as we begin production on Star Wars: Starfighter. From the day Kathy Kennedy called me up, inviting me to develop an original adventure in this incredible Star Wars galaxy, this experience has been a dream come true, creatively and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with us forever. To join this storytelling galaxy with such brilliant collaborators onscreen and off, is the thrill of a lifetime.”

Will Smith Accused Of Using AI Clips Of Crowd In Fake Concert Footage

by jummy84 August 26, 2025

Will Smith is facing backlash after fans accused him of using AI-generated footage in a recent Instagram post promoting his Based On A True Story Tour.

The video, shared on Aug. 12, shows Smith performing his motivational anthem “You Can Make It” in front of what appears to be a massive, adoring crowd, complete with waving signs and fans singing along.

In the clip, Smith is seen walking along the stage, eventually climbing a barricade as the camera pans to dozens of cheering concertgoers.

Many fans are holding signs, some featuring personal messages and tributes about how the star’s music and story have impacted their lives. Alongside the video, Smith captioned, “My favorite part of tour is seeing you all up close.”

However, viewers were quick to question the authenticity of the crowd, pointing out unnatural elements like extra fingers, distorted faces, and inconsistent hand shapes — hallmarks of generative AI content.

One skeptical user wrote, “Imagine using AI and generating a sign about Cancer. This is absolute [clown] behavior.” Another added, “An AI crowd being posted on the official page is maaaad embarrassing.”

A third fan quipped, “Fresh Prince of A.I. – The Bounce Back. This is awful,” while another chimed in,
“This use of AI is INSANE and downright sad.”

While the criticism mounted, others offered a more forgiving interpretation, suggesting the visual distortions could be the result of upscaling lower-resolution footage, rather than artificial generation.

Smith did not specify which show the footage came from, but it likely originates from one of his recent European stops — either Smukfest in Denmark on Aug. 7 or Dreambeach Festival in Almería, Spain on Aug. 9. As of now, Smith has not publicly addressed the accusations.

The renowned actor and rapper is currently nearing the end of the UK stretch of his tour, with upcoming shows in Manchester (Aug. 27), London (Aug. 28), Wolverhampton (Aug. 30), and Paris (Sept. 2).
