5 Singers Who Have Performed Globally And Taken Indian Culture To The World Stage

written by jummy84

As Indian music continues to resonate across continents, a new wave of singers is redefining how the world experiences our culture. They’re blending folk with pop, classical with R&B, Punjabi soul with global beats — proving that Indian music isn’t just a genre, it’s a feeling. These performers are not only touring international arenas but also sparking conversations of identity, heritage, and artistic pride. Here are five artists who are taking Indian music to global stages, loudly, proudly, and unapologetically.

5 Singers Who Have Performed Globally And Taken Indian Culture To The World Stage

Diljit Dosanjh – The Global Punjabi Phenomenon

Diljit Dosanjh has become nothing short of a cultural force. From selling out stadiums worldwide to becoming the first Punjabi artist to perform at Coachella, he has taken Punjabi music to audiences far beyond India’s borders. His live performances are celebrations of language, roots, and cultural pride, reminding the world that Punjabi music has both emotional depth and undeniable swagger, as heard in “Born To Shine,” which blends Punjabi folk character with contemporary pop attitude.

Sid Sriram – The Soul Of South Indian Pop

With a voice that melts Carnatic tradition into contemporary soul, Sid Sriram is a bridge between worlds. Raised in the U.S. but deeply connected to his South Indian heritage, his global tours and collaborations showcase how seamlessly Indian classical elements can sit beside R&B, indie, and electronic sounds. Sid is not just performing music; he’s carrying memory, language, and emotion into every performance, connecting listeners across cultures, a quality beautifully evident in “Srivalli,” where his folk-rooted phrasing meets modern melodic sensibility.

Lekka – A Pop Voice Rising Across Borders

Lekka has rapidly emerged as one of Indian pop’s most dynamic voices. With a sleek sonic identity that blends global pop energy with a distinctly Indian confidence, she’s redefining what it means to be a homegrown international artist. Her singles “Kingpin,” “Kaabil-E-Tareef,” and “YOLO,” along with her 2025 debut EP ‘One in a Billion’ featuring tracks like “Haseena,” “Wet Dream,” and “Light Another One,” showcase her fearless experimentation and performance-forward aesthetic. Representing a new generation of Indian artists unafraid to sound global yet rooted in their cultural rhythm. With her seamless blend of Indian essence and global pop appeal, she continues to redefine what it means to be an Indian artist on the world stage.

Hanumankind – The Indie Artist Reimagining Indian Musical Identity

Hanumankind represents a new wave of indie experimentation rooted in Indian storytelling. His music, modern, conceptual, and atmospheric, blends Indian cultural references with global production practices. Performing on international stages and streaming across borders, he’s proving that Indian artists don’t have to fit into Bollywood or folk stereotypes to be authentically Indian. His sound is global, but his voice is unmistakably rooted in home, something that comes through in “Big Dawgs” and “Run It Up”, where emotional nostalgia merges with contemporary production.

Jasmine Sandlas – Punjabi Singer With Raw Energy And A Bold, Redefining Voice

Jasmine Sandlas is one of India’s most dynamic and fearless voices, known for her raw energy, unapologetic style, and powerful high-pitch vocals that electrify every stage she steps on. Her latest album Legal Robbery captures her signature blend of bold lyricism and infectious beats, proving once again why she’s a force in Punjabi music. Whether it’s the fire of “Pols”, the swagger of “Taras”, the intoxication of “Nasha”, or the intensity of “Dhurandhar”, Jasmine delivers each track with unmatched attitude and emotion. Her performances are more than shows.

Blaine Bailey Is Eliminated and 3 Singers Stand Out

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers from the premiere of The Road.]

The Road has officially begun! The new show from Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan premiered on Sunday, October 19, with 12 artists opening for Keith Urban at a special performance in Fort Worth, Texas.

Each of the contestants got to sing one original song for the crowd, who then got to rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. At the end of the episode, Shelton and Urban decided who would be eliminated from the audience’s bottom three.

Scroll down for a recap of all the performances and to find out who Shelton and Urban sent home.

Adam Sanders

The first artist to take the stage was Adam Sanders. Shelton has actually known Sanders’ uncle, Scotty Sanders, a session musician in Nashville, since he was just 19 years old.

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

After years of touring and being labeled as “just the songwriter,” Adam is ready to prove he’s so much more. He performed his most-streamed song, “What If I’m Right,” which came out in 2021.

Urban said that Sanders “came out and killed it” and “took charge” of the stage, while Shelton added, “He made you listen to it.”

Britnee Kellogg

Britnee Kellogg, a mom who has not been able to pursue her dream of relocating to Nashville because of her parenting plan with her first husband, performed her song “Hey Mama.” She wrote the song while struggling with postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter.

Britnee Kellogg

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

“I saw a lot of girls relate to that song. Look at her, she’s wiping away tears right there,” Shelton pointed out. Urban said he “likes” Britnee’s voice a lot and that she “just looks like a star.”

Shelton also added, “I got a lot of respect for Britnee. She’s a mother of three, and to balance that with chasing your dream is a lot of work. I don’t know that we have a better female vocalist in the competition.”

Cody Hibbard

South Korea native Cody Hibbard was adopted when she was 13 months old. He attended the Naval Academy, but then struggled with a pill addiction after leaving. He performed his song “Looking Back Now,” which he described as “heartbreak song about growing.”

Cody Hibbard

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

“Obviously, he’s limited as a vocalist,” Shelton admitted. “His vocal stays right in that spot. But I don’t know how much that matters, either. He had the audience.” Urban agreed that Cody is “super likable.”

Jenny Tolman

Being on The Road was a big deal for Jenny Tolman, as it was the first time she was touring away from her husband and 2-year-old son. She sang her track “I Know Some Cowboys,” which she said is “always a crowd pleaser.”

Jenny Tolman

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

“Jenny’s an artist that’s been able to make it work,” Shelton shared. “Touring, getting out on the road, getting out of Nashville … it’s a super competitive town. She’s done a great job of it.”

Urban admitted that he wanted to see Jenny “work the audience a bit more” and “change it up” a bit throughout the performance. “She’s fun, but we’ve had some really good singers so far. Vocally, she’s going to have to step it up.”

Forrest McCurren

After 10 years of writing songs, Forrest McCurren is ready for life on the road. Even before he performed, Urban noted that Forrest was “super likable,” with Shelton adding, “Forrest walked into the audition for us producers and had us wrapped around his finger in literally five minutes.”

Forrest McCurren

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

However, Shelton also noted that Forrest is “more of a singer/songwriter,” and he wasn’t sure how that was going to play out in front of Urban’s rowdy crowd. Forrest performed his song “Small Prayers, Big Blessings.”

“The crowds later in the tour, they might not be as forgiving,” Urban said. “If he was at the Bluebird Cafe, he’d be great. You’d hear all the lyrics, the storytelling.”

Billie Jo Jones

Billie Jo Jones, a mom of four kids, has been traveling with her band for more than a decade, and admittedly “doesn’t like being told no,” despite the negative responses she’s gotten from industry heads over the years.

Billie Jo Jones

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

Unfortunately, she woke up not feeling great on the day of the performance, and her voice was only at about 80% when she took the stage to perform “Some Girls Don’t Cry.”

It didn’t seem to affect her, though. “She’s not lacking any confidence,” Urban noted. Shelton said, “It’s almost like she wasn’t singing live. Her pitch was that solid. She has that raspy voice, but has that control over it.”

Briana Adams

Briana Adams came to the show from a super small Texas town. She performed a song called “You Only Know the Name.”

Briana Adams

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

“I love Briana’s story,” Shelton admitted. “When she walked into the audition, you could tell you’re talking to somebody from a very small town. She writes about what she knows and what she’s experienced and I just have a ton of respect for her.”

Urban said Briana needs to “learn some things with leaning in and backing off, working the mic a bit more,” while Shelton pointed out, “She did get them engaged, though, it seemed like.”

Channing Wilson

Channing Wilson, a cowriter on Luke Combs‘ “She’s Got the Best of Me,” has been touring for 25 years, so he already knows what life is like on the road.

Channing Wilson

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

After Channing’s performance of “Blues Comin’ On,” Urban said, “That song played to every part of his voice,” and Shelton noted, “He’s literally like some country legend we already know somehow. He had them from the first note.”

Blaine Bailey

At 23 years old, Blaine Bailey is the youngest in the competition. He said he enjoys singing about some of the issues he faces as a Native American.

“I was really intrigued by Blaine,” Shelton shared. “You don’t see a lot of Native Americans pursuing mainstream music. The fact that he’s able to take his heritage and plug that into what he does musically gives him an edge that no one else in this competition has, but maybe also no one in country music has, period, that I can think of.”

Unfortunately, his performance of his song “T-Shirt” was a bit underwhelming. “He lost the room,” Urban admitted. Shelton added, “I picked that guy to be on the show. It’s not even about reading the room. You got that message you want to deliver, but you’re also here to win this competition.”

Olivia Harms

Olivia Harms is no stranger to the music industry because her mom, Joni Harms, was a musician in the ’90s. In fact, Olivia’s performance song “Ain’t My First Rodeo” was written after she had writer’s block and then called up her mom for a chat.

Olivia Harms

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

“I’m a big fan of what Olivia does,” Shelton said. “She truly is a cowgirl. How is that going to play out here on the road? I have no idea. It could be huge and it may not work for her. But I do think she’s an important artist to have on this show.”

Urban thought Olivia’s performance “might have been a bit too reserved for this rowdy Texas crowd” and noted that the audience was “getting harder to impress” as the night went on. “They’re like, ‘OK, we heard a lot of good stuff, what do you got?’ Even now, you can’t just say, ‘Texas,’ and get them to cheer. Everyone’s done that. What else you got?”

Jon Wood

Jon Wood said he was basically raise to pursue music. He showed his country roots with a performance of his song called “Too Country,” which is about “not being sorry that [he’s] a little redneck.”

Jon Wood

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

Shelton said that Jon’s voice is “the country voice that truly is like a honky tonk sound” and gushed, “I love that guy. I love his voice.” Urban agreed, but admitted, “I would’ve done the song a little bit higher. So much of it is in this lower point, when he got up higher, it’s like, ‘Oh, good.’”

Cassidy Daniels

After growing up as an Army brat and moving 15 different times, Cassidy Daniels knows she has what it takes for life on the road. Her performance of her song “Crazy Love” also proved that she can back it up.

Cassidy Daniels

Lauren “Lo” Smith/CBS

Urban and Shelton both gave Cassidy a standing ovation. “Now that’s how you end it right there!” Urban gushed. “She’s loose and carefree.” Shelton said his heart was “still racing” after the performance, too.

Who was eliminated on The Road premiere?

After the audience’s votes, Shelton told the group that the three artists who were “absolutely saved” were Cassidy, Cody, and Adam. “You guys just came out swinging tonight,” Urban told them.

The bottom three, though, were Olivia, Forrest, and Blaine. “It sucks, but it’s just about how you connected here in this place tonight with this particular audience that came out to see Keith,” Shelton told the trio.

It was then up to Shelton and Urban to decide who would be sent home, and they opted to eliminate Blaine. “Forrest, you bring such a unique take on performing. The thing you got to figure out how to do is take that guy and connect with people. Olivia, we’re in Fort Worth, Texas. A lot of these people are cowboys that have come into town for the weekend, maybe that particular song wasn’t enough to rile them up.”

He concluded, “Blaine, I think Keith said it best earlier … whatever it is you give them, is kind of what you can expect to get back from them. We felt like maybe you had the least amount of connection with the audience tonight, and for that reason, we’re going to have to send you home.”

The other 11 artists will move onto the next city and open for Urban once again in next week’s episode.

Long live Tina Turner. The powerhouse vocalist—whose voice electrified classics like “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Private Dancer,” “Simply The Best,” “We Don’t Need Another Hero,” and the definitive rendition of “Proud Mary”—passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 83. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” her official social media channels shared at the time. “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”

According to Deadline, Tina died after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland. Her passing came just six months after the heartbreaking loss of her youngest son, Ronnie Turner, who died in December 2022 from complications related to colon cancer. Tina mourned his death publicly, writing that her “baby left the world far too early.”

Tragically, the Turner family faced another loss in October 2025 when Tina’s adopted son, Ike Turner Jr., died at 67 following kidney failure.

Tina’s influence as the Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll will forever be felt. Over a career spanning more than six decades, she rose from performing alongside her ex-husband Ike Turner in the late 1950s to redefining pop and rock music as a solo artist in the 1980s. Beyond her extraordinary career, Tina’s personal life also drew headlines—from her early motherhood and abusive marriage to Ike, to her later happiness with German music executive Erwin Bach, whom she married in 2013 after nearly 30 years together. While she and Erwin never had children of their own, Tina’s heart—and her home—were always full. Learn more about her children and family below.

Craig Raymond Turner

Tina had her first son, Craig Raymond, in 1958 when she was only eighteen. Craig’s father was Raymond Hill, who played saxophone in Ike’s band, Kings of Rhythm. Craig mostly avoided the spotlight during his life, and he worked as a real estate professional. Sadly, Craig died by suicide in July 2018 in his Studio City, California, home at age 59.

Tina opened up about her son’s death in a June 2019 interview with CBS This Morning. She expressed that she felt like her son was at peace. “I think Craig was lonely, that’s what I think really got him more than anything else,” she said at the time.” I have pictures all around of him smiling, and I think I’m sensing that he’s in a good place. I really do.” The singer held a ceremony to scatter her late son’s ashes on Jul. 19, 2018, as she revealed in a tweet. “My saddest moment as a mother,” she wrote. “I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”

Ronnie Renelle Turner

Tina gave birth to her younger son Ronald “Ronnie” Renelle, in October 1960. Ronnie was musical like his mom and dad. He acted alongside his mama in the 1993 movie What’s Love Got To Do With It as a member of The Revue, according to IMDb. Ronnie also performed with his parents. Ronnie’s half-brother Ike, Jr. revealed that he was married to the singer Afida Turner in an interview with DailyMail in 2018. His half-brother said he spoke to Ronnie “periodically.”

Ronnie was reported to have died on Dec. 8, 2022. His wife shared a statement mourning his passing on her Instagram. “My God, Ronnie Turner, a true angel, huge soul, highly spiritual, my husband, my best friend, my baby,” she wrote.

Ike Turner had six children, but Tina only adopted two of his sons. The two sons she adopted were from his long-term relationship with Lorraine Taylor. His oldest son, Ike Turner, Jr. was born in 1958. Ike Jr. followed in his dad’s and adopted mom’s footsteps and began a career in the music industry. He won a Grammy in 2006 for producing his father’s album Risin’ With The Blues in the Traditional Blues Album category. Ike, Jr. also reunited with one of his father’s old bandmates Randi Love in 2017 and toured with her, according to the Oklahoma Eagle. Randi was a member of the Ike Turner Revue as an “Ikette.” Randi released a single with Ike, Jr. in 2018 called “Freaky” under the name Sweet Randi Love & Love Thang Band.

Ike claimed that he’d been estranged from his mother for nearly two decades in a 2018 interview with DailyMail. “Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,” he said. “I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when – probably around 2000. I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.”

In May 2023, just weeks before Tina’s death, Ike Jr. was arrested on charges of cocaine possession. He remained in jail at the time of her passing.

On October 5, 2025, Tina Turner’s son Ike Turner Jr. passed away at the age of 67, according to family sources. He died in a Los Angeles hospital from kidney failure, after suffering from severe heart problems and having had a stroke the previous month. His niece, Jacqueline Bullock, confirmed the news and shared that he had been battling declining health for some time.

Michael Turner

Ike’s younger son from his relationship with Lorraine was Michael, born in 1959. Of Tina’s four children, the least is known about Michael. While Michael has kept out of the spotlight, it was revealed that he, as well as his brothers Ike and Ronnie, were “devastated” that they were mostly left out of the 2021 HBOMax documentary Tina, according to a source who spoke to Fox News.

Bad Bunny conjured the KPop Demon Hunters trio HUNTR/X during the season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 4.

In the six-minute sketch, fittingly titled “KPop Demon Hunters,” the Puerto Rican superstar — who hosted the episode alongside musical guest Doja Cat — plays Thomas, a brunch-goer passionately defending his love for the wildly popular animated Netflix movie.

“It’s actually not for kids. It’s for smart adults,” Bad Bunny’s Thomas says to skeptical friends. “In KPop Demon Hunters, songs are not just songs. They are weapons,” he continues. “What else is gonna save you from demons, you idiot.”

The sketch takes a chaotic turn when SNL cast member Bowen Yang appears as one of the film’s demons and possesses Sarah Sherman by belting out the hit song “Soda Pop.” Just in time, HUNTR/X — voiced in the movie by EJAE, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna — arrive to save the day, performing their smash single “Golden” and vanquishing the demon.

The sketch marked the first-ever live televised performance of “Golden,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. HUNTR/X is slated to deliver their first full-length live performance of the song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Oct. 7, where they’ll also sit down for an interview.

The news comes roughly three months after KPop Demon Hunters premiered on Netflix, rapidly becoming a pop culture phenomenon. In addition to “Golden,” three other tracks from the film’s soundtrack — “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” and “Takedown” — have landed in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. The film’s soundtrack also made history as the first to top the U.S. albums chart since Encanto in 2022.

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Singers Make Surprise ‘SNL’ Appearance

Saturday Night Live season 51 is off to a “Golden” start.

EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, who voice the characters of Rumi, Zoey and Mira in the hit Netflix and Sony Animation movie KPop Demon Hunters, made a surprise appearance during an SNL skit in the season 51 premiere. The short performance as part of a brunch-themed KPop Demon Hunters sketch marks the first-ever live performance of the song by the three women.

The ladies of Huntrix are set to make their first official and full-length performance of the song during Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. They’ll also be interviewed together. The news was announced last week, showing Fallon receiving a special invitation from some familiar faces for fans of KPop Demon Hunters.

The animated feature has become Netflix’s most popular title ever. The project — which chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a K-pop girl group comprised of three members who just happen to also fight monsters from the underworld — has been a surprise hit for the streamer, and its soundtrack has spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. THR has confirmed that a sequel film is in talks at Netflix and Sony Animation.

In August, Huntrix ended Alex Warren’s long-running No. 1 streak to take the top spot on the chart. After a flip-flop the following week, the song returned to No. 1, where it remains. Two other songs from the film are in the top 10 of the Hot 100. “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” sung by the film’s fictional boy group Saja Boys, sit at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Six other songs from soundtrack, including Twice’s “Strategy,” are also charting on the Hot 100.

Following the appearance, EJAE, who also served one of the film’s key songwriters, announced her debut solo single, “In Another World,” which is set to be released on Oct. 24. “I’m so humbled and grateful for the love I’ve received as a songwriter and the singing voice of Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters. Getting so much exposure so quickly has been strange, exciting, and truthfully a little scary,” she said in an Instagram post announcing the song.

“People keep referring to me as an ‘artist’ or a ‘star’ — which is everything 11-year-old EJAE dreamed of, but over the years, I became comfortable behind the scenes and I didn’t think I was meant to be an artist,” she continued. “Writing this song helped me through a hard time, and I hope that sharing it can help others too.”

The investigation into the sudden death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has taken a dramatic turn with the arrest of four individuals, including his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, who has made serious allegations and manager Siddharth Sharma. According to Shekhar Jyoti, Siddharth Sharma and festival organizer Shyam Kanu allegedly poisoned Zubeen Garg and conspired to make his death appear like an accident.

Let us tell you that Shekhar Jyoti Goswami claimed that Siddharth Sharma forcibly took control of the yacht, causing it to sway dangerously, and ignored Zubeen’s condition, saying it was acid reflux. Zubeen Garg’s wife, Garima, had expressed suspicion about the singer’s entire team and everyone present at the scene. She suspected Siddharth Sharma’s involvement in the incident and questioned why her husband was not taken care of when he needed medical attention. The investigation is ongoing, with the CID awaiting the viscera report from the Central Forensic Laboratory (CFL) in Delhi.
