Faridabad oncologist warns women not to ignore this first sign of breast cancer: ‘Any female above 40 should take…’

Breast health is something every woman should pay attention to, yet many ignore the subtle signs that could indicate a serious issue. Early detection can make all the difference in treatment and outcomes. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Sunny Jain, Sr. Consultant and HOD, Medical Oncology, Accord Super Speciality Hospital, Faridabad, shares the very first sign of breast cancer that women should never overlook, offering crucial advice to help catch it in time. (Also read: Oncologist debunks 4 common myths about early breast cancer every woman should know: ‘Recurrence is not inevitable…’ )

Breast cancer awareness is essential, especially for women over 40, says oncologist.(Freepik)

Key symptoms to watch for

“Breast cancer is rising worldwide, and increasingly affecting women at younger ages, often younger than 50. That’s why regular screening and awareness of breast changes are crucial. Not all lumps in the breast are cancerous; many are benign. However, any new lump in the breast or armpit should never be ignored,” says Dr Sunny.

He advises, “The first and foremost symptom of breast cancer is having a lump in the breast. Don’t ignore it. If you notice a new lump, swelling, thickening, or a change in the size or shape of the breast, consult your doctor immediately.”

Other warning signs include:

  • Dimpling of the skin that looks like an orange peel
  • Pain in the breast or nipples
  • Nipple retraction (turning inward)
  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk
  • Swollen lymph nodes under the arm or near the collarbone
  • Skin changes of the breast
  • Nipple changes, such as puckering, retraction, or inversion

“Women should be well aware of these changes and examine their breasts monthly, usually after the menstrual cycle,” Dr Sunny adds.

Understanding breast tissue and self-examination

The breast is made of glandular and fatty tissue, which affects how it feels at different ages. Younger women have denser, firmer breasts due to the predominance of glandular tissue, while older women’s breasts feel softer as fatty tissue increases, and may droop over time.

“Knowing these differences helps you determine what a lump may feel like,” Dr Sunny explains. “When examining your breasts, use the flat of your fingers, don’t pinch or prod. Start with a light touch, then press a little deeper. Never press so hard that it causes pain; that means you’re examining too forcefully.”

When to seek diagnosis

If a lump persists and stands out from normal breast tissue, it is essential to pursue a proper diagnosis, regardless of mammogram or ultrasound findings. Outpatient core biopsy is the most definitive method to determine whether the lump requires follow-up.

“Many lumps turn out to be fibroadenomas, which are benign and don’t increase future breast cancer risk. Some lesions may need resection and could have implications for future breast cancer,” Dr Sunny notes.

Family history is another important factor. Cases of breast cancer in younger women, multiple cases of bilateral breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or breast cancer in males may warrant gene testing.

What are the treatment options

Treatment depends on the cancer stage, type, receptor status, and age at diagnosis. Options include:

  • Surgery
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiotherapy
  • Immunotherapy and targeted therapy
  • Hormonal therapy

Dr Sunny emphasises, “Any female at or above age of 40 years presenting with a breast lump should be considered to be suffering from breast cancer until proven otherwise.”

Regular self-examination, awareness of subtle changes, timely consultation, and family history assessment are crucial steps every woman should take. “Early detection saves lives. Never ignore even minor changes in your breast,” advises Dr Sunny.

Cardi B Reveals Hold-Up On Offset Divorce, Alludes To Ex Wanting Her To Pay His Taxes & Sign Over One Of Her Properties: Imma Fight For That

It’s not lingering love that’s keeping #CardiB and #Offset married.

During a recent live chat on X, Cardi clarified that she’s “legally separated” from Offset, and the only reason their divorce hasn’t been finalized is because someone wants to hold her “hostage.”

While she didn’t directly name her husband of seven years, Cardi suggested Offset’s #divorce demands include having her pay his taxes and hand over one of her properties, two things she’s ready to “fight.” She also said the separation hasn’t affected her children’s lives, emphasizing that their schedules remain unchanged.

Walmart is continuing to make its way into the streaming space. The retailer is expanding its five-year-old Walmart+ program with a new entertainment twist: members can now choose between Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, included at no additional cost with their annual or monthly membership. The move places Walmart+ squarely in the middle of the ever-evolving streaming landscape, giving subscribers access to a major platform without having to tack on another bill.

The retail giant has steadily layered benefits onto Walmart+ since its 2020 launch — from free delivery on grocery and general merchandise orders over $35, to next-day and two-day shipping on Walmart.com with no order minimum, to savings on fuel at Exxon, Mobil, Walmart, Murphy stations and Sam’s Club. Now, by integrating streaming into its bundle, Walmart is positioning its membership as not just a shopping convenience, but a lifestyle membership that covers entertainment as well as household needs.

The streaming add-on arrives at a moment when consolidation is reshaping the media landscape. To maintain a competitive edge, both Paramount+ and Peacock have grown their streaming lineups with some of the buzziest film and show titles, live events and cable news offerings.

Peacock continues to roll out original series alongside NBCUniversal’s robust live sports lineup, in addition to complete seasons and new next-day episodes from NBC and Bravo, and an expansive library of beloved films and TV shows. Paramount+, meanwhile, offers exclusive access to original series, blockbuster movies, a mix of new releases and timeless favorites from CBS, Nickelodeon, and more, along with live sports such as the UEFA Champions League.

Walmart+ remains priced at $98 /year or $12.95/month, with a 30-day free trial available. Plus, members must re-select their preferred streaming service every 90 days, meaning they can oscillate between Peacock or Paramount+ depending on their preferred shows and films at any given time.

Oncologist says ‘persistent back pain’ can be early warning sign of lung cancer; shares when you should worry

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Back pain is one of the most common health complaints and is usually linked to strain, poor posture, or lifestyle habits. However, experts caution that in some cases, it could point to something more serious. HT Lifestyle has reached out to experts to know the possible hidden causes of persistent back pain, including when it may signal underlying conditions such as lung cancer. (Also read: Oncologist says ‘men over 50’ should never ignore these early warning signs of prostate cancer )

Persistent back pain? It could be a sign of lung cancer, experts warn. (Shutterstock)

Back pain and lung cancer: When to worry

“Back pain is a day-to-day complaint often invariably linked to heavy lifting, posture issues or ageing, mattress issues, which are usually relieved with OTC pain killers, muscle relaxants, but when it persists, then you need to think. It can be an early indicator of cancer. Lung cancer is a disease characterised by uncontrolled, unregulated, unchecked growth of cells in the lungs, which might spread to other parts of the body, including the axial system (spine, pelvis and other bones), causing back pain,” says Dr. Sunny Jain, Sr. Consultant and HOD, Oncology, Accord Super Speciality Hospital, Faridabad NCR.

As per a 2024 study by H. Haryati et al., in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), 30–40% of patients develop bone metastases, with vertebral involvement being among the most common, often leading to spinal cord compression. Research suggests that lung cancer accounts for about 15% of all cases of cancer-related cord compression. Pain is also a frequent complaint among lung cancer patients.

For instance, a Canadian study involving over 13,000 stage IV NSCLC patients reported pain in approximately 68.5% of cases. Similarly, another study that enrolled 533 lung cancer patients found that nearly 240 patients (45%) experienced pain during the course of their disease.

Persistent back pain, especially at night, can signal serious conditions like lung cancer.((Shutterstock))
Persistent back pain, especially at night, can signal serious conditions like lung cancer.((Shutterstock))

Warning signs that should not be ignored

According to Dr. Sunny, here’s when you should worry:

• If you have constant, deep, and worsening pain at night or during rest that is not relieved by routine treatments like physiotherapy or painkillers.

• If the pain is accompanied by other warning signs of lung cancer, such as chronic cough, unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, breathlessness, or coughing up blood.

Early diagnosis of lung cancer can greatly improve outcomes. As the saying goes, “Eyes cannot see what the mind doesn’t know.” So, keep your eyes and mind open, stay informed, stay fit, and don’t hesitate to see your doctor if needed.

How lung cancer can cause back pain

“When lung cancers grow, they sometimes invade nearby structures or spread to the bones, especially the spine,” explains Dr Kamran Ali, Principal Consultant, Lung Transplant and Thoracic Surgery, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.

“Tumours can irritate nerves, compress vertebrae, or put pressure on ribs. Pancoast tumours near the lung apex may affect nerves running through the shoulder and upper back, causing pain. Once cancer reaches the bones, the pain may worsen at night, resist painkillers, and progressively increase,” Dr Kamran.

While most back pain is harmless, you should seek medical advice if you notice:

  • Pain that is persistent, lasting more than a few weeks, especially new or worsening upper back pain.
  • Pain that doesn’t improve with rest, physiotherapy, or usual care.
  • Pain with other lung cancer warning signs — chronic cough, coughing up blood, shortness of breath, unexplained weight loss, or fatigue.
  • Shoulder pain, hoarseness, arm swelling or numbness, which may indicate tumour involvement of nerves.

Unfortunately, lung cancer is often diagnosed late in India, when treatment options are limited and outcomes poorer. Early diagnosis can allow for surgery, targeted therapies, and better survival rates.

As Dr Sunny points out, “Eyes cannot see what the mind doesn’t know. Awareness about less obvious symptoms like back pain can make the difference.”

If you or someone you know has persistent back pain combined with respiratory symptoms or unexplained weight loss, don’t ignore it. Consult a doctor for:

  • A detailed history and physical examination
  • Imaging tests (X-ray, CT scan, MRI)
  • Bone scan if required

“Early evaluation helps rule out serious causes and ensures timely treatment if needed. Back pain is rarely a sign of lung cancer in its early stages. But when it follows certain patterns, persistent, unexplained, and accompanied by other warning signs, it must not be dismissed as “just ageing” or “work strain.” Staying attentive, asking the right questions, and seeking timely care can make all the difference,” concludes Dr Sunny.

Stanford gastroenterologist shares 3 things women should know about iron deficiency: ‘The first sign of cancer, ulcers’

Dr Wendi, a Stanford-trained gastroenterologist, shared crucial information regarding iron deficiency, particularly for women under 40, in a recent Instagram post. She highlighted 3 important things women should know. Let’s find out:

Up to 40% of premenopausal women may have undiagnosed iron deficiency. (Freepik)

Iron deficiency in women

In the post shared on September 1, Dr Wendi emphasised that iron deficiency is a condition which is often underdiagnosed in women. Furthermore, she offered advice on optimising iron supplement absorption, avoiding certain beverages, and the importance of medical consultation for iron deficiency anaemia.

Sharing the post, Dr Wendi wrote, “Iron deficiency is one of the first signs of gut issues, including cancer, ulcers or inflammation. Despite how common iron deficiency is among young women, we don’t talk about how to properly evaluate and treat iron deficiency.” Let’s find out what the 3 important reminders which Dr Wendi suggested are:

3 things that every woman should know about iron deficiency

Dr Wendi stressed that every woman under the age of 40 needs to know these 3 facts about iron deficiency:

1. It is underdiagnosed

Firstly, iron deficiency is way underdiagnosed. According to the gastroenterologist, research estimates that up to 40 percent of premenopausal women have iron deficiency. “So, look out for the symptoms and consider getting tested,” she advised

2. Take supplements every other day and avoid tea or coffee

Secondly, if you are taking iron supplements, you should be taking them every other day instead of every day to maximise absorption, Dr Wendi advised. “You should also be taking your iron supplements on an empty stomach and avoid coffee and tea within 1 hour of taking your supplements,” she suggested.

3. Consult a doctor

Lastly, she said, “If you have iron deficiency anaemia, guidelines recommend at least discussing an endoscopy and colonoscopy with your doctor.”

Couple therapist shares the biggest sign of healthy relationship: ‘It’s not about how much you love your partner’

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Love is often seen as the foundation of any romantic relationship, yet it’s not the only factor that determines whether a partnership thrives. Baya Voce, a relationship expert and couples therapist, shares in one of her Instagram posts the biggest sign that shows a relationship is genuinely healthy.

A couple therapist shares the key sign that shows a relationship is genuinely healthy and resilient.(Pixabay)

What’s the true sign of a healthy relationship

Baya explains that the biggest sign of a healthy relationship isn’t how much you love each other, how often you have sex, or whether you fight. “It’s how you make up. That’s the difference,” she says.

According to her, in healthy relationships, conflict doesn’t feel like the end of the world. “It feels like Tuesday. You get off track, and you both know how to come back. The biggest sign of relational health is that you can rupture and recover without one person turning into a courtroom lawyer and the other person climbing out of the bathroom window,” Baya explains.

She adds, “It means you can say, ‘That hurt me,’ without your partner saying, ‘Well, maybe you’re just too sensitive.’ It means you can be mad without making it unsafe, and you can disagree without it becoming a character assassination.”

How do healthy couples navigate conflict

Healthy couples, she points out, don’t avoid disconnection they expect it. “They know how to move through it. They trust each other to make their way back together so that when inevitable ruptures happen, you’re not constantly worried about whether or not you’re going to be able to feel heard or understood or get what you need. You actually know you will. It might just take some time,” Baya says.

She advises, “So if you’re asking, ‘Is this relationship healthy?’ don’t just look at the good days. Look at what happens after a fight, a misstep, after someone totally blows it. Do they come back and repair it with accountability, willingness, and some version of, ‘Okay, that was a hot mess, let’s try again.’ That’s the sign. Not perfection, not performance, just two people who are committed to finding their way back to each other over and over and over again.”

The Best Perfume for Your Astrological Sign 2025

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

As an astrologer, I find that perfume is more than just a scent with a price tag. And finding the best perfume for your astrological sign will give you a new layer of understanding of yourself, what you’re drawn to, and how the stars can align to make you smell divine.

Astrology goes so much deeper than just your personality or compatibility with others. Our scent preferences are surprisingly tied to our birth chart’s cosmic makeup. If you want to let your birth chart guide you to the one that helps you feel like your most magnetic, mysterious, or romantic self, I recommend looking at your Venus sign. Earth signs tend to gravitate toward grounded, woodsy notes. Fire signs usually want something bold and unforgettable. Air signs? They love something effervescent, light, or a little “out there.” Water signs, naturally, tend to choose scents that evoke a memory, emotion, or sensuality within themselves and those within close proximity.

Below, discover the fragrance trends that are written in the stars for you.

The best perfume for your astrological sign, at a glance

  • Aries:
  • Taurus:
  • Gemini:
  • Cancer:
  • Leo:
  • Virgo:
  • Libra:
  • Scorpio:
  • Sagittarius
  • Capricorn:
  • Aquarius:
  • Pisces:

Aries: Bold, Daring, Always Trailblazing

Aries is the fearless fire starter of the zodiac, ruled by Mars and fueled by competition, adrenaline, and charm. You’re magnetic without even trying, and your signature scent should arrive before you do.

Taurus, ruled by the planet Venus, is the undisputed ruler of good taste. You love a fragrance that’s romantic, indulgent, and long-lasting, ideally one that pairs as well with a cashmere sweater as it does with your favorite pair of jeans. These affordable perfumes below capture that perfectly.

You are truly one of a kind when it comes to all things sensual, so lean into that with this creamy vanilla blend.

Urban Collection Valentine for Women Eau De Parfum

Sol de Janeiro Hair & Body Perfume Mist

This fun and flirty day-to-night wear makes a perfect addition to your travel bag, or just to make you feel swept away right in the comfort of home.

Cancer: Nurturing, Dreamy, Nostalgic

Cancer is ruled by the moon, meaning everything you do is steeped in emotion and memories. You gravitate toward fragrances that remind you of sentimental days of the past, old lovers, salty air, or the smell of sitting down at a posh, timeless vanity. What will today bring? Only you decide.

Josie Maran Bohemian Fig Body + Hair Fragrance Mist with 100% Natural Scents

There’s something so sexy about fitting in and standing out at the same time, and this scent with notes of vetiver, vanilla and orchids helps you do just that.

Leos are ruled by the sun and should never shrink from the spotlight. You need a fragrance that makes people stop and ask, “What is that smell?” Take up olfactory space like a true main character.

Phlur Missing Person Eau de Parfum

A warm and spicy scent with hints of jasmine will enhance your already magnetic energy, Leo.

Glossier You Fleur Eau de Parfum

A niche perfume with musky undertones, Glossier’s blend is incredible on it’s own, or as a layering scent. Just like you, You Fleur amplifies everything around it.

Virgo: Clean, Refined, Timeless

Virgos are ruled by Mercury and are deeply in tune with their bodies, health, and the little things. You like a scent that feels clean, smart, and thoughtfully layered. You’re not trying to be the loudest in the room, you’re trying to be the best-smelling one.

Tender and timeless, this floral perfume delivers notes of rose, peony, and white musk. Make sure that you prepare yourself for the questions that will arise every time you wear it outside.

Scorpio: Intense, Mysterious, Hypnotic

Ruled by Pluto and Mars, Scorpio’s scent needs to feel private, potent, and impossible to place. You don’t want your perfume to smell like anyone else’s, you want it to smell like you, but after dark.

Dedcool Xtra Milk Eau de Parfum

You are deep and full of surprises, and Xtra Milk is just one of many. This unisex musk is multilayered, just like you.

Prada Paradoxe Eau de Parfum

A perfect creamy floral, this indulgent scent will give you the upper hand everywhere you go, leaving everyone yearning for more.

Sagittarius: Adventurous, Wild, and Unforgettable

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion. You’re not here to wear scents that “play it safe”. Opt instead for a fragrance that feels like the moment you step off of a plane and into a new city. A feeling that you can carry around with you in a little glass bottle!

Lancôme Idôle Eau de Parfum with Rose & Jasmine

Notes of rose and jasmine make this a standout. Would we expect you to wear (or be) anything less?

Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl

A sultry and fun favorite filled with cherry, rose water, and vanilla, this one’s a knockout (like you). You’ll have everyone on their toes with just a few spritzes of this fun Sagittarian fragrance.

Capricorn: Elegant, Powerful, Grounded

Ruled by Saturn, Capricorn prefers something timeless over trendy. Your signature scent is refined, classic, and quietly commanding… like a leather bag or a well-aged bottle of wine.

How we tested

As a professional astrologer with over a decade of experience interpreting cosmic signatures, I approach fragrance selection with celestial insights. For each zodiac sign, I evaluated perfumes based on the following criteria:

  • Scent Family & Key Notes: How the fragrance’s olfactory profile complements each archetype (woody and musky tones for earth, spice and height for fire, dreamy and juicy for water, exciting and bright notes for air)
  • Ingredients & Composition: Unique or evocative scents that are enticing and high-quality while still staying aligned with the vibe and traits of your zodiac sign.
  • Longevity & Format: Staying power and whether the perfume’s form (eau de parfum, etc.) aligns with each sign’s lifestyle.

This blend of astrological philosophy and fragrance expertise ensures each pick doesn’t just smell good, but that it feels right based on your chart.

Karan Johar evolved from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, says Janhvi Kapoor: ‘True sign of artist’ | Bollywood

Karan Johar made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani released in 2023.

Karan Johar recently won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for his directorial feature Rocky Aur Rani kii Prem Kahani. Interestingly, he had won the same award for his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was released in 1998. Actor Janhvi Kapoor stressed how Karan has evolved as a director with the times in an interview with Mirchi Plus. (Also read: Janhvi Kapoor breaks silence on Param Sundari vs Chennai Express comparisons: ‘Not all people from the South can be…’)

Janhvi Kapoor showered praise on Karan Johar and how he has evolved as a director.

What Janhvi said about Karan Johar

During the interview, Janhvi was seen with co-star Sidharth Malhotra, and the two talked about their favourite rom-coms. They went on to talk about how Mani Ratnam’s Saathiya is a toxic love story in many ways. In this regard, Janhvi said, “It is also interesting to see how filmmakers have evolved with society. I think that Karan [Johar] is a great example.”

She went on to explain her point further and added, “If you look back at Kuch Kuch Hota Hai… of course, it was iconic, but phir jaake jab unhone Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani banayi (then he went on to make this film), there you can see that he is a very evolved feminist. I think that is a true sign of an artist.”

About the two films

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji. The film was praised for its fresh on-screen pairing and music. Still, over the years many viewers have revisited the film and criticised it for its problematic portrayal of gender stereotypes.

Meanwhile, the romantic drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani tackled critical issues like feminism, the toxic effects of patriarchy, gender stereotypes, and women’s empowerment. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film grossed over ₹300 crore upon its release in 2023.

A few days ago, Karan announced via Instagram that he is set to return to the director’s chair in 2026. He has promised to make a classic, old-fashioned Hindi film that resonates with him.

Bryson Tiller Reveals The One Reason He Didn’t Sign To OVO

by jummy84 August 24, 2025

Weeks after hitting the stage during Drake‘s 2025 Wireless Festival headlining set, Bryson Tiller has opened up about his appreciation for the Toronto artist, his musical influence, and why he was never able to make things official with Drizzy’s October’s Very Own label.

During a recent sit-down on New Rory & MAL, the “Exchange” artist revealed that the only reason he didn’t sign to OVO was because Drake didn’t call him back in time before he felt pressured into signing with his label, RCA. According to the crooner, RCA was aware of his interest in signing to Drake’s label and continued to fly him around the country in an effort to keep them from crossing paths.

“OVO is really in my blood for real,” Tiller shared. “I really have studied his catalog. I mean, it’s a couple people that I really consider huge strands of my musical DNA, and Drake is one of them.”

He then recalls being flown from LA to Miami and then to New York, where he was asked to sign to RCA before being able to contact Drake about a potential deal. This inspired him to listen to Drake’s 2009 track “The Calm” and reach out one more time.

“I sent him one last text, just to see, like, ‘Yo, man. I don’t know what to do, blah, blah, blah,’ and he never hit me back. And I know he’s a busy, super busy dude, so not saying he didn’t want me to sign or whatever, but at that moment, I got a kid, and I got people back home looking at me like, ‘Is he gon’ do it? Is he gon’ make it?’ So I had to go with the most sure shot.”

Co-host Rory then suggests Drake’s superstar-focus at the time would’ve likely taken his attention away from building up new talent. This is one reason he believes The Weeknd chose not to sign to OVO, adding that he possibly thought he, “could be just as big as you, so why would I sign to you?”

For Tiller, however, that wasn’t the case, confirming that superstardom has never been his goal. “I love making people happy with music and giving them moments and stuff, but as far as being on stage and being the most famous dude and everybody recognizing me, I just don’t care about that type of sh*t.”

ESPN Unlimited Streaming Service: Price, Sign Up Online

ESPN officially debuted its new direct‑to‑consumer streaming platform Thursday morning. While the network has for decades been tethered to traditional television bundles, sports fans will, for the first time, be able access everything — ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACC Network, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+ and ACCNX — under one direct subscription (and a personalized app, also launched today).

The ambitious offering under the Unlimited tier is priced competitively at $29.99 per month, bringing an impressive 47,000 live events annually, plus extensive on‑demand features, studio staples like “SportsCenter,” “First Take,” “Pardon the Interruption,” “College GameDay” and premium originals like “30 for 30” to viewers’ fingertips.

This launch doesn’t feel accidental — it’s strategically scheduled to coincide with the high‑stakes kickoff of the college football and NFL seasons, the US Open, international and women’s college soccer, volleyball, field hockey and the oncoming WNBA and PLL playoffs. The NBA and NHL are also ramping up, while marquee UFC and WWE events loom large.

The new direct‑to‑consumer service will bear the singular brand “ESPN,” solidifying its identity in the streaming era. Alongside the Unlimited tier is the more basic Select plan priced at $11.99 per month, while subscribers eyeing a fuller suite can bundle Disney+ and Hulu with the ESPN Unlimited plan at launch for the same $29.99 rate for the first 12 months.

“As we thought about the name, we kept returning to the fact that, across every generation, ESPN is the most trusted, loved and recognized name in sports, and that we should keep it simple and double down on the power of ESPN,” Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN Chairman, said in a statement upon the announcement of the new offering earlier this month. “Our straightforward approach to name and pricing will help fans cut through the clutter, and provide them compelling options to access all our content within the enhanced ESPN App.”

To further incentivize early adopters, the enhanced ESPN App — now loaded with multiview options, integrated game statistics, curated betting info, fantasy tie‑ins, commerce features, and a personalized “SportsCenter For You” feed — will be available both to direct‑to‑consumer subscribers and traditional pay‑TV users alike. In short, ESPN is shifting from a distributor‑centric to a consumer‑centric model, offering familiar faces and flagship shows via a smarter, more engaged interface.

Perhaps most telling is the operational gambit echoing ESPN’s ambition: on August 23, just two days post-launch, fans will be able to stream five out‑of‑market NFL preseason games through the ESPN App, offering significant value for early subscribers. Games such as Ravens at Washington, Bills at Tampa Bay, and Chargers at San Francisco will go live — subject to blackout restrictions — yet available to those with the Unlimited subscription.
