Deepika Padukone shot for 20 days before Kalki 2898 AD sequel exit, demanded hike thinking she is irreplaceable: Report

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Deepika Padukone recently exited Kalki 2898 AD after production house Vyjayanthi Movies stated they were “unable to find a partnership” with her. Now, as per News18, Deepika had already filmed nearly 20 days of the sequel before she left the franchise. Reportedly, she had demanded a pay hike for part two of the film as she was sure “that she is irreplaceable.”

Deepika Padukone played a pregnant woman in Kalki 2898 AD.

Deepika Padukone thought she was ‘irreplaceable’

A source close to the production told the portal, “Deepika Padukone’s demand for a pay hike — significantly higher than 25% — stemmed from her conviction that she is irreplaceable. The real turning point lay in how her management approached the negotiations.”

Deepika shot for Kalki 2898 AD sequel for almost 20 days

It also added why the “claim of a date clash holds no merit.” “Deepika was fully aware of the sequel and the strong, performance-driven role created for her. In fact, she had already filmed nearly 20 days of Part 2 while shooting Part 1 — something director Nag Ashwin himself confirmed in several media interactions. Her schedule for the next phase was always meant to be decided mutually, so the claim of a date clash holds no merit,” as per the source.

What did Kalki 2898 AD team say about ousting Deepika from film

Vyjayanthi Movies announced Deepika’s exit from the film in a statement on X. “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. A film like Kalki 2898 AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” the statement read.

Recently, a source told NDTV, “Deepika Padukone wanted a 25 per cent increase in her acting fee compared to what she earned for the first part of the film. Additionally, she insisted on limiting her daily shooting schedule to a 7-hour shift. The producers offered her the convenience of a luxury vanity for rest periods in exchange for longer working hours, but she declined. She wanted 5-star stays for her 25-person crew. There were just too many demands.”

About Kalki 2898 AD

Deepika worked on the 2024 sci-fi epic by Nag Ashwin. The star-studded cast also included Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. With over-the-top graphics and an extensive overseas release, the film grossed approximately ₹1100 crore at the box office worldwide.

Deepika’s next film

Deepika will work with Allu Arjun for Atlee’s upcoming film AA22xA6. This will mark her first project with Allu Arjun and her second with Atlee. She also has King with Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan, among others. The filming of King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is currently going on.

Emily Browning Stars in Time Loop RomCom ‘One More Shot’ Trailer

“You can’t avoid the inevitable. The universe is always going to find a way.” Stan in Australia has revealed the amusing official trailer for a romantic comedy movie called One More Shot, a time loop New Years Eve party story about a woman trying to win over a guy. This premiered at the 2025 Melbourne Film Festival recently and will be out in Australia next month, but has no US release date just yet. An end-of-millennium house party becomes an endless, tequila-fuelled time loop in this funny film starring Emily Browning. Armed with a bottle of time travelling tequila, Minnie arrives at a swanky beach house on New Year’s Eve, 1999, only to discover that her former flame Joe, has brought his new girlfriend. When Minnie takes a shot and is suddenly transported back to the moment she arrived at the party, she soon realises she has a bottle’s worth of chances to win Joe’s heart. But as she tries to rewrite the night, things quickly spiral out of control and no matter what she does or how many times she resets, she can’t escape herself. Also starring Aisha Dee, Sean Keenan, Hamish Michael, Ashley Zukerman, and Pallavi Sharda. This looks fun enough to watch, though the tequila swig concept is clearly going to get out of hand at some point. Get a look below.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Nicholas Clifford’s film One More Shot, direct from YouTube:

One More Shot Trailer

One More Shot Trailer

On New Year’s Eve, in 1999, with Y2K anxieties in the air and “Coco Jamboo” on the radio, anaesthetist Minnie (Emily Browning) jumps at the chance to attend a party with her ex Joe – whom she still hasn’t gotten over. But everything goes wrong when she realises he’s there with a new girlfriend. One swig from a bottle of tequila after midnight and, in the blink of an eye, Minnie has travelled back in time to the start of the party – a process that, she discovers, repeats with every drink she takes. Each do-over presents a new opportunity to fix her mistakes or compound them further. But will any of them allow her to win back Joe’s heart, or understand what it means to live with the consequences of her actions? One More Shot is directed by Australian filmmaker Nicholas Clifford, making his first feature film after the “Monologue” TV series and many other shorts previously. The screenplay is written by Alice Foulcher & Gregory Erdstein; from a story by Heather Wilson. Produced by Virginia Whitwell, Nick Batzias, Elise Trenorden, Jim Wright. This just premiered at the 2025 Melbourne Film Festival last month. Stan debuts Clifford’s One More Shot film streaming on Stan in Australia starting October 12th, 2025. No US release date is set yet. Look fun?

Smita Patil Shot ‘Aaj Rapat Jaayein’ & Cried Her Heart Out Till Amitabh Bachchan Stepped In To Coax Her

Smita Patil In A Still From Namak Halal (Photo Credit – Youtube)

Smita Patil is one of the most iconic actresses Indian Cinema witnessed. However her journey was short lived since the actress passed away 15 days after giving birth to son Prateik Babbar and her husband Raj Babbar, moved back with his first wife and children Juhi Babbar and Aarya Babbar after Smita‘s death.

Smita’s body of work includes many award-winning films like Manthan and Arth. But apart from these heavy, content-driven films that were called the ‘artsy types,’ she was a part of commercial hits like Namak Halal and others.

Smita Patil was paired with Amitabh Bachchan in Namak Halal. The film became iconic for its song Pag Ghunghroo Baandh Meera Naachi Thi  – a must at Indian weddings. However, today, we will talk about what happened after shooting for the other iconic song from the film.

Why Smita Patil Broke Down After Filming Namak Halal’s Iconic Song

When we talk about the most iconic rain songs of Hindi Cinema, Aaj Rapat Jaaye probably undoubtedly tops the list. The song from Namak Halal had Amitabh Bachchan and the queen of parallel cinema dancing their heart out on the streets of Mumbai, drenched in rain. However, what happened after the shoot was surprising.

After Smita Patil completed shooting for the song, she locked her room and cried her lungs out. The reason for her meltdown was an attempt at commercial cinema, and suddenly, she was worried about her serious image that brought her weight as a star. Smita had never attempted such an eye-grabbing dance before, and she was unsure if commercial cinema would work for her like parallel films did.

Later, co-star and great friend Amitabh Bachchan stepped in and coaxed the actress to shed her inhibitions. Some reports suggest that the actor even cajoled her to broaden her perspective and balance the best of both worlds.

Namak Halal eventually was a huge hit at the box office, and Smita Patil’s dance in Aaj Rapat Jaayein with Amitabh Bachchan is sealed in history!

bitchy | Charlie Kirk, 31-year-old right-wing media figure, was shot & killed in Utah

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

There’s a whole movement of Gen Z and Millennial hard-right conservative guys who all sort of blend together for me. Before this week, I would not have been able to pick Charlie Kirk out of a line-up. But now the image of Kirk getting shot in the neck at a Utah college campus is seared into my memory bank. Kirk, who was only 31 years old, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was on some kind of platform or stage, doing a “Prove Me Wrong” Q&A session. The last question he was asked was “do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last ten years?” Kirk answered with a question, “counting or not counting gang violence?” Then he was shot in the neck.

Charlie Kirk has died at age 31 after being shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to President Donald Trump.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” the president shared on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

Kirk, a right-wing media personality who founded conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, was manning his signature “Prove Me Wrong” table on the first stop of his American Comeback Tour in Orem, Utah, when shots were fired. Video posted from the event appeared to show Kirk being struck in the side of the head or neck as he spoke to the crowd from under a white pop-up tent.

After the shot rang out, the crowd dispersed in a panic, with onlookers shouting, “Run, run, run!”

[From People]

There are multiple angles of the shooting from people in the crowd, and each angle is worse than the next. I don’t recommend watching any of the videos, but they’re all over social media. As many have pointed out, Kirk spent the past nine or ten years demonizing minorities, women and marginalized communities and he ended up getting killed by someone who I’m 99.999% sure is a white-male shooter. In the whitest state in America, on a campus which is overwhelmingly white.

In 2023, Kirk was asked about the second amendment, mass shootings and America’s gun problem. He said: “You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won’t have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It’s drivel. But I am, I, I — I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal.”

I’m including an assortment of reactions from Democratic leaders. Republican leaders did not bother to offer any kind of similar sentiments when Minnesota’s Democratic state representative Melissa Hortman was assassinated in her home alongside her husband and their dog. That happened less than three months ago.

There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.

— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) September 10, 2025

We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) September 10, 2025

I am deeply disturbed by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family.

Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.

Charlie Kirk died following a shooting at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. He was 31. The late right-wing activist and Donald Trump supporter was in the middle of his “American Comeback Tour” presentation at the school when shots were fired. The shooter was initially said to be in custody, but CNN later reported that no one was in police custody. Kirk was ultimately struck and taken away by his security team, but the president later confirmed that he was dead.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote in a statement via Truth Social. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

The Republican followed up in a separate post, “In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M.”

Charlie Kirk is one of the finest humans I know. Everyone please lift him and his family up in prayer.

— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) September 10, 2025

Who Was Charlie Kirk?

A loyalist to Trump, Kirk had demonstrated his support for the president through the latter’s 2024 campaign. The 31-year-old was the founder of Turning Point USA: a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservatives on college campuses. He also hosted his radio talk show, “The Charlie Kirk Show,” on Salem Media’s “The Answer” channel.

Additionally, Kirk was a member of the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, which “inquires into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the Academy which the Board decides to consider.”

What Happened to Charlie Kirk? Shooting & His Death Explained

In the afternoon of September 10, Kirk was reportedly answering a question about transgender mass shooters in the United States. Shortly after Kirk alleged there’s been “too many” transgender mass shooters, shots were fired from a nearby campus building about 200 yards away, according to CNN.

From January 2013 to now, there have been more than 5,700 mass shootings in America, and five of those shooters were confirmed as transgender, founding executive director of the Gun Violence Archive, Mark Bryant, said, per CNN.

Kirk was visibly struck by one of the shots, and he was seen slumped in his seat before blood poured down his neck. He was hospitalized and died later that day.

Who Shot Charlie Kirk? Suspect Identity Updates

Initially, Utah Valley University claimed that a suspect was in custody, but officials later clarified during a press conference that the person was not the shooter. They added that the shooter is currently at large.”

At the time of publication, the shooter’s identity in Kirk’s death has not been publicly identified.

University Security Measures Called Into Question After Kirk’s Death

A witness told CNN that there were “no security measures” implemented at Kirk’s Utah Valley University event that day. There were allegedly no metal detectors nor bag-checking requirements, the witness told the outlet.

Charlie Kirk Dead After Being Shot: Trump Ally Was 31

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder who helped mobilize the youth vote for Donald Trump, has died Wednesday after being shot during a college event in Utah, Trump announced on Truth Social. Kirk was 31.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” Trump wrote on Wednesday afternoon. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Andrew Kolvet, a spokesman for Kirk, confirmed his death to The New York Times.

Kirk was attacked at about 12:10 p.m. while speaking with Utah Valley University students on his “American Comeback Tour.” A bullet penetrated his neck as he was answering a student’s question about mass shooters. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his security. Graphic videos of the shooting circulated on social media as Republicans and Democrats shared prayers for Kirk on social media.

An initial suspect was put in handcuffs but later released, as police continue to look for the shooter. The FBI has launched an investigation alongside local law enforcement agencies.

Born in the Chicago suburbs, Kirk was a right-wing media personality and the CEO of Turning Point Action, a nonprofit political advocacy group that helped elect Trump to his second term. Connecting religious leaders with local politics, Kirk founded the spinoff organization Turning Point Faith, and he also developed Turning Point Academy with the mission of “reviving virtuous education.”

Kirk was perhaps best known for his viral “Prove Me Wrong” videos, in which he set up a table on college campuses and welcomed students to debate him on select topics. On his radio program, “The Charlie Kirk Show,” he endorsed conservative cultural viewpoints and often railed against liberal beliefs relating to climate change, critical race theory and gun control.

Kirk often sparked controversy for his viewpoints. He opposed gay marriage and advocated against mask mandates during the pandemic. Following Trump’s loss in 2020, he propagated disproven claims about election fraud.

In the lead-up to Trump’s reelection in 2024, Kirk became one of the most recognizable faces in the MAGA movement and one of the key operators in the effort to swing the youth vote red. His prominence in modern political culture is epitomized by a recent parody of his “Prove Me Wrong” concept on “South Park.”

Kirk’s success in reaching young voters online and promoting conservative beliefs and values at universities was acknowledged by Democrats who wished to replicate Turning Point’s influence on the left. “I’ve got to admire what you’ve been able to do, not to weaponize, but to organize on these college campuses a different point of view,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom told Kirk in the inaugural episode of his podcast earlier this year. The governor, one of the leading Democratic figures in the fight against Trump, denounced the Sept. 10 attack against Kirk as “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible” on social media, adding, “In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form.” The nation’s top political figures including JD Vance, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders and more also condemned the assassination.

Kirk is survived by his wife Erika Frantzve and their two children.

Charlie Kirk Shot At Utah Event; MAGA Activist Condition Unknown

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

UPDATED: Charlie Kirk is in “critical condition” after being shot at an university in Utah.

With Kirk in a local hospital after apparently taking a bullet to his throat just over an hour ago, the Associated Press is citing a “law enforcement” source for the conservative advocate’s state of health.

PREVIOUSLY, 12:13 PM Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been shot at an event at an Utah university.

Details are scant on what happened, but it seems only one shot was fired and an individual is in custody.

Video circulating online from the scene at the well-attended outdoor gathering at Utah Valley University appears to show Kirk being hit in the neck. His condition is unknown right now.

As more becomes known, already leading members of the Trump administration have expressed their concern over what occurred with the influential voice in the MAGA movement. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance took to social media quickly as Kirk’s shooting became widely covered.

“Please pray for Charlie Kirk and his family,” said Trump of his MAGA ally on Truth Social

VP Vance took a similar stance.

Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.

— JD Vance (@JDVance) September 10, 2025

The 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder frequently tours college campus’ to debate with audience members across the political spectrum. Wednesday was the opening date of the American Comeback tour, with his “Prove Me Wrong” stance a center piece of the dozen or so stops of the Fall stint.

In fact, Kirk’s tours, debating style and strategic outreach to younger voters have become such a hallmark of the current culture wars that South Park mimicked the events in the opening episode of its current 27th Season. To that, earlier this year, California Gov. Gavin Newsom launched his recent podcast series with a sit-down with Kirk, where the two agreed on a number of issues in which was clearly an attempt by the ambitious Newsom to broadened his brand and reach with conservatives.

Newsom today called Kirk’s shooting is “disgusting, vile, and reprehensible.”

The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form.

— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) September 10, 2025

On a busy news days of Russian drones over Poland and more Jeffrey Epstein cover-up coverage, the Kirk shooting took over CNN, MSNC, the BBC and MSNBC.

Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz, a former congressman from Utah, told viewers on the Rupert Murdoch-owned outlet of witnessing the event and shooting.

Chaffetz said: “First question was about religion. He went on for about 15, 20, minutes. Second question, interestingly, was about transgender shooters, mass shooters, and in the midst of that, the shot rang out. Now I happened to be watching Charlie. I can’t say I saw blood. I can’t say I saw him get shot, but as soon as that shot went out, he fell back … and everybody hit the deck, everybody’s a lot of people started screaming, and then everybody started running. As you might expect. There was some police presence, but there was no security check going in. Charlie has some security in front of him, but you got the sense that the shot came kind of straight at him. And I don’t think there would be many vantage points too far away, because he was under an awning. It’s a bright, sunny, beautiful end-of-summer summer day in Utah. And I just hope and pray that somehow, someway, he survives this.”

The home invasion and brutality against former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband in 2022 aside, the past year alone has seen an apparent increase in open violence in the political arena in America. Trump was the subject of one assassination attempt on the campaign trail last year in Pennsylvania, as well as a potential attack on the golf course in Florida. Keystone State Gov. Josh Shapiro and his family were attacked with a break-in and arson at official residence in April. More recently and tragically, there was the fatal June shooting of top Minnesota Democrat  Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark by the conservative leaning Vance Boelter. That shooting also left state senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette injured. In August, reportedly angry over vaccine mandates, Patrick Joseph White fired almost 200 shots upon the Atlanta HQ of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and killed police officer David Rose.

Who has been shot in EastEnders gun horror amid Kat and Zoe reunion?

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

As Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) took in the sight of her beloved Zoe, who had refused contact with her for years, son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) asked if he had “done good”, having tricked Zoe into finally coming home.

Kat was overwhelmed, and mother and son exchanged an emotional “I love you”.

Zoe wanted to flee, but Kat convinced her to come inside The Queen Vic to dry off from the rain and get the cash she wanted.

But Zoe’s hostility towards Kat soon surfaced, as she resented Kat’s new life as a dedicated wife and mum and reminded her of her drunken behaviour when Zoe was younger.

As Kat apologised, twins Bert (Elliot Briffett) and Ernie (Cody Briffett) barrelled in and immediately hugged Zoe, with Tommy joining in, and Zoe didn’t have the heart to reject them.

The interruption allowed Zoe to try and make her escape, only for her to run into great-grandmother Mo Harris (Laila Morse) and share a heartwarming reunion.

Mo delayed Zoe’s exit with a playful con, and Mo and Kat managed to convince Zoe to stay for dinner.

The family gathering was halted when the Moons’ social worker arrived, and although the meeting went well in the end, Zoe was scornful of Kat once more when the latter revealed why social services were involved.

Zoe repeated her earlier childhood complaints, but Kat pointed out that Zoe had a much more wholesome time growing up than she remembered, and that Kat had protected her all she could before the truth about her conception was revealed.

The conversation turned even harsher when Zoe tried to blame Kat for not speaking up about her uncle Harry’s (Michael Elphick) abuse sooner.

Kat recognised that Zoe needed help, and knew there was something else troubling her, but it was clear that Zoe hated herself for even existing.

“The things I’ve done…” Zoe trailed off.

When Kat remarked that Zoe’s actions can’t be worse than covering up the murder of Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), Zoe couldn’t bring herself to say any more, and ran off mid-sentence.

Meanwhile, Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) realised that Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was now in possession of his gun, and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) saw Ravi sneaking around their home.

Knowing that Ravi had taken the weapon, Jack confronted Ravi and the pair wrestled over the gun.

At that moment, Kat and Zoe were outside The Vic as Kat desperately tried to persuade Zoe to stay.

The gun then went off in their direction, leaving Jack and Ravi reeling – but who has been shot?

Stephen King Demanded ‘The Long Walk’ Show Teens Getting Shot

As The Long Walk makes the trek from the page to the screen, Stephen King recently revealed the one condition he had for adapting his 1979 novel.

The author explained that the characters in the book are “the same sort of kids that are pulled into the war machine” of Vietnam, noting that he required screenwriter JT Mollner and director Francis Lawrence to show teens getting shot in their film.

“If you look at these superhero movies, you’ll see … some supervillain who’s destroying whole city blocks but you never see any blood. And man, that’s wrong. It’s almost, like, pornographic,” King told The Times of London. “I said, if you’re not going to show it, don’t bother. And so they made a pretty brutal movie.”

In The Long Walk, premiering Sept. 12 in theaters, a group of 100 young men enter an annual walking contest in dystopian America, in which the losers are executed and only one person survives.

As Lionsgate screened the first 20 minutes of the movie at Comic-Con, Mollner said he “wanted to keep the DNA and themes that Stephen King baked into his original novel.”

“Even though he was writing about specific things at the time, I feel that relevance is generational and wanted to make sure we had that. The beauty, love and the story of friendship along with the brutality of hopelessness and terror,” added Mollner. “We wanted to go all the way. I knew that Stephen King wanted us to go all the way. I knew Lionsgate wanted us to go all the way. If this book got into the wrong hands, studio or filmmakers. It could’ve been neutered. So, I’m very grateful we were able to keep the teeth that the book has.”
