Emraan Hashmi reacts to viral B***ds Of Bollywood clip, jokes about his serial kisser tag

Emraan Hashmi recently gave his reaction on the viral scene from Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, The B***ds of Bollywood. The clip features Raghav Juyal, playing a devoted Emraan Hashmi fan, singing Kaho Na Kaho from Emraan’s 2004 film, Murder. This nostalgic moment has resonated with fans, who have described it as a perfect throwback to Emraan’s early 2000s work.

During the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Haq, Emraan, responding to the viral scene, mentioned that he had a frank discussion with Aryan Khan and the Red Chillies Entertainment team regarding the scene. He said, “Kuch din pehle hi yeh conversation meri hui Aryan [Khan] aur Red Chillies team ke saath. Humein pata tha viral hoga, lekin is tarah se viral hoga, woh kabhi socha nahi tha. I think it’s a lesson to be learnt.”

He went on to add, “I think iske pehle fans jo hain, woh naam leke pukarte the, ya phir… ek doosra image tha, ‘S’ se shuru hota hai. Main naam nahi loonga, nahi toh raat bhar yahi chalta rahega.” About the long-standing “serial kisser” label, Emraan humorously mentioned that it is quite gratifying to observe discussions about his dialogues, rather than solely focusing on his public image. He joked, “Abhi woh dialogue ka zikr hota hai – so no complaints.”

Emraan, known for his intense performances and popular songs, expressed his pleasure that audiences are now seeing his work in a fresh light. Recently, Raghav too had talked about the viral scene with Emraan Hashmi in The B***ds Of Bollywood.

He had said, “Bahut accha response mila. Expect kiya tha maine bhi aur Aryan ne bhi ke aisa hoga. I really worked hard on myself and created something new. Bahut maza aaya mujhe. Emraan sir aaye aur woh scene hua, main rone bhi lag gaya scene mein! Aur woh bante bante ban gaya aisa scene — bahut hee dil se kiya maine. Agar main comedy karne ki koshish karta toh ajeeb ho jaati, lekin dil se maine aansoo nikale aur woh gaana gaya (I got a really good response. Aryan and I both expected it would turn out this way. I really worked hard on myself and created something new. I enjoyed it a lot. When Emraan sir came and that scene happened, I actually started crying in the scene! And while doing it, the scene just shaped up like that — I did it straight from the heart. If I had tried to do comedy, it would have felt awkward, but I genuinely shed tears and sang that song. I specifically sang the Arabic version because I thought it would come across as funny).”

Is ‘Psycho’ Based on Ed Gein? Movies & Shows Inspired by Serial Killer – Hollywood Life

Few true crime stories have cast as long a shadow over Hollywood as Ed Gein’s. The Wisconsin murderer and grave robber horrified the nation in the 1950s and went on to inspire some of the most iconic horror films ever made. Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960) famously drew from Gein’s twisted crimes, transforming real-life terror into cinematic history. But Psycho was only the beginning.

Over the years, Gein’s disturbing legacy has continued to influence filmmakers, from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to The Silence of the Lambs and, more recently, Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story. His name remains synonymous with the blurred line between fact and fiction in horror.

Below, learn how Psycho was inspired by Ed Gein, and see which other movies and TV shows were shaped by his chilling story.

Who Is Ed Gein?

Gein was an American murderer and grave robber from Plainfield, Wisconsin, whose gruesome crimes shocked the world in the 1950s. Born on August 27, 1906, Gein lived an isolated life under the strict control of his religious and abusive mother, Augusta Gein, who instilled in him a fear of women and sin.

After her death, Gein began robbing graves, exhuming bodies, and fashioning household items and clothing out of human remains. His deeply disturbed actions would later make him one of the most infamous figures in American criminal history.

What Happened to Ed Gein?

On November 16, 1957, local hardware store owner Bernice Worden went missing in Plainfield, Wisconsin. Investigators traced her disappearance to Gein. When police searched his farmhouse, they uncovered Worden’s mutilated body, along with furniture, masks, and clothing made from human skin and bones. Gein admitted to killing two women—Worden and Mary Hogan, a tavern owner who vanished in 1954—as well as robbing graves for years.

In 1958, he was declared legally insane and committed to Central State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, later transferred to Mendota Mental Health Institute. He remained institutionalized for the rest of his life and died in 1984 at the age of 77 from respiratory failure due to cancer.

Was Psycho (1960) Inspired by Ed Gein?

Yes. Hitchcock’s Psycho was directly inspired by Gein’s real-life crimes. The film’s protagonist, Norman Bates, mirrors Gein in several unsettling ways: both were isolated men with domineering mothers whose deaths triggered psychological breakdowns.

The novel Psycho, written by Robert Bloch in 1959, was influenced by Gein’s case, as Bloch lived just 35 miles from Plainfield. Hitchcock later adapted Bloch’s story into the iconic 1960 film, making Norman Bates one of cinema’s most enduring horror figures.

Movies & Shows Based on Ed Gein

Over the decades, Gein’s story has continued to influence filmmakers and storytellers across generations. His crimes have inspired numerous films and television projects, including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Deranged: Confessions of a Necrophile (1974), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Ed Gein (2000), and Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainfield (2007).

Most recently, Netflix revisited his story in Monster: The Ed Gein Story (2025), starring Charlie Hunnam as Gein and Laurie Metcalf as his mother, Augusta.

Emraan Hashmi is one of the finest actors and has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade. From romantic to negative roles, he has proved his worth as a versatile actor in showbiz. However, he is also popular for playing bold on-screen moments in films like Murder, Jannat, and Gangster. After these movies, he was labelled as the ‘serial kisser’ of Indian cinema. Let’s revisit the time when Emraan Hashmi admitted getting annoyed with this label. Read on to know more.

Emraan Hashmi On Being Dubbed As Serial Kisser

In an interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Emraan opened up about being tagged as the serial kisser of Bollywood. The Awarapan actor said, “There was a time when I was a little bit annoyed when I wanted people to take me slightly seriously. See, a large part of my career, 2003 to 2012, is chhavi ko is tarah nichoda gaya tha screen par ki woh ek label ban gaya tha, woh marketing mein istemaal kiya jaata tha. Har film mein bina wajah cheezein daali jaati thi. Aur media mein bhi jab aata tha ek tagline, toh mere naam se pehle woh tag aata tha – Serial Kisser.”

Emraan Hashmi Wanted To Be Taken Seriously As An Actor

He added, “And this is my own gift to myself. So, I am not blaming anyone else. But what happens – just when you cross that phase where those films go on and everything happens? Then you want to go to the next phase. You want to be taken seriously as an actor. You try to do those films where your range is visible to people. But after seeing that, they come back again to the same tag (serial kisser) and say, ‘There was no such scene in this.’ I am presenting something new. I am an actor. It is my job to play different characters. Why do you want to see the same again? Because of this, I used to get a little annoyed. But otherwise, I am chill about it. I do not have many issues with it.”

More About Emraan Hashmi

Emraan Hashmi made his acting debut in 2003 with the film Footpath. However, he rose to fame and tasted success with the 2004 film Murder. On the work front, Emraan is gearing up for the upcoming release, a Telugu-language film titled OG. The film is slated to release in cinemas on September 25, 2025. It features Pawan Kalyan, Priyanka Mohan, and Arjun Das, among others. He also made a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan‘s son Aryan Khan’s debut project The Ba***ds Of Bollywood.
