Is ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3 Happening? Updates on Filming – Hollywood Life

HBO fans rejoiced after Reese Witherspoon unveiled more details about her return to Monterey. Nearly a year after co-star Nicole Kidman revealed that season 3 of Big Little Lies was in the works, the Legally Blonde alum provided a brief update on the show’s progress, including new material from the novel’s author, Liane Moriarty.

“Nicole and I have been waiting,” Witherspoon, 48, told E! News at the Hello Sunshine red carpet in October 2024.  “We’re in waiting for Liane Moriarty. She’s going to be turning in something very soon. We’re back to the original author and we’re going to go back to the original characters.”

“It’s exciting, too, because I think the kids are probably a little older now,” she continued. “So that might add another element. I don’t know yet; I haven’t read it.”

Nearly one year later, Variety reported that the season was officially in development.

Here’s a look at everything we know so far.

When Will ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3 Premiere?

No premiere date for season 3 has been confirmed yet. In November 2023, during a Q&A at a Ladies Professional Golf Association event, Kidman noted that she “loved” working on the acclaimed HBO series and confirmed that she was actively working on season 3.

“I loved Big Little Lies because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children, and I was thinking I was going to retire,” the Undoing alum said. “And then, this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show and create that show. And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success. And we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI.”

The only issue was that fans weren’t sure if Kidman was implying that the entire cast had already begun filming. Other cast members—Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz—did not confirm whether they are on board for the third season. A potential release date was set for sometime in 2024, but production faced delays due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Kidman admitted she may have shared the news a bit prematurely when she announced the next season last November. “I got excited,” the Perfect Couple star told Vanity Fair in a joint interview with Witherspoon in June. “But we are now! We’re moving fast and furious, and Liane is delivering the book. Yeah, and we’re in good shape.”

“We talked about doing a season 3 a lot and, unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year, and I just can’t imagine going on without him,” the Batman actress explained in a 2022 TikTok video.

Who Is in the ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3 Cast?

As of now, only Kidman and Witherspoon have confirmed their participation in the Season 3 cast. Previously, other actors expressed uncertainty about returning for a third season. In fact, Kravitz once stated she “doubted” they would ever return to the Big Little Lies set.

“We talked about doing a Season 3 a lot, and unfortunately, Jean-Marc Vallée, our incredible director, passed away this last year. I just can’t imagine going on without him,” the Batman actress explained in a 2022 TikTok video.

Meryl Streep also made a significant impact in Season 2, so fans are hoping she will return, especially considering the way her character and Nicole’s character concluded in the Season 2 finale.

What Happened at the End of Season 2?

At the end of season 2, Meryl’s character, Mary Louise, and Nicole’s Celeste faced off, and more details about Perry’s death were revealed (Perry is played by Alexander Skarsgard). It was revealed that Mary Louise lost control while driving her sons, resulting in the accidental death of Perry’s brother. Celeste also hinted that Mary Louise had abused Perry emotionally and possibly physically, which could have caused him to become a domestic abuser.

The Monterey Five are also implied to have turned themselves in toward the end of the episode, as they approached the police station. This ending divided many viewers.

’Presumed Innocent’ Season 2 Casts Matthew Rhys

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

The second season of Apple TV+’s legal thriller Presumed Innocent is adding another Emmy winner to its cast.

Matthew Rhys has joined the anthology series. The Americans and Perry Mason star joins Rachel Brosnahan and Jack Reynor in season two, which will be based on author Jo Murray’s forthcoming book Dissection of a Murder.

Presumed Innocent is the second Apple series Rhys has signed onto recently. He’s also starring in Widow’s Bay, about the residents of a seemingly cursed New England seaside town.

The first season of Presumed Innocent was based on Scott Turow’s novel of the same name (previously adapted for a feature film starring Harrison Ford) and starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga and Peter Sarsgaard. In renewing the show, Apple TV+ and the show’s creative team, which includes executive producers David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams, opted to make the series an anthology.

The streamer is keeping plot details about season two quiet. Publisher Pan Macmillan’s description of Dissection of a Murder says the story will follow an attorney (Brosnahan) who is defending a man accused of murdering a judge.

Rhys will next be seen in Netflix’s The Beast in Me with Claire Danes; the limited series is set to premiere in November. He’s also set to star with John Krasinski in a serial-killer drama called Silent River at Prime Video. He is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and United Agents.

Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions and David E. Kelley Productions produce Presumed Innocent in association with Warner Bros. Television. Kelley and Erica Lipez are co-showrunners of season two and executive produce with Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich for Bad Robot, Matthew Tinker for David E. Kelley Productions, Dustin Thomason, Brosnahan and Gyllenhaal. Turow and Murray are co-EPs.

Big Little Lies fans would be delighted to note that the much-awaited third season of the psychological comedy drama series is officially in the works at HBO, according to Variety. The latest to come on board is Francesca Sloane of Mr. & Mrs. Smith fame. She will serve as an executive producer for Big Little Lies Season 3, in addition to writing the maiden episode.

Sloane is joining hands with David E Kelley, Nicole Kidman, and Reese Witherspoon as the executive producers, while Kidman and Witherspoon are all set to star in the Big Little Lies Season 3.

Sloane, who co-created Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover, has signed a two-year deal with HBO. This comes after production work on the second season of her spy series on Amazon Prime Video was delayed for an indefinite period. She is shifting from Amazon MGM Studios, Deadline reported.

Big Little Lies: What to expect in Season 3?

The show, which was originally expected to be a limited series, came out in 2017. After getting praised by critics and bagging several honors, it was then renewed for a second season that premiered in 2019. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to watch the next season of the series.

In Season 2, Meryl Streep also joined the show as Mary Louise Wright. Among others featured in it were Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Alexander Skarsgård, Adam Scott, and James Tupper among others.

Earlier, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, said they were looking forward to the sequel to Liane Moriarty’s book before going ahead with Big Little Lies Season 3.

She has shared that the next book will have a major time leap as the lead women characters have now become mothers of teenagers, per the outlet.

In November 2023, Nicole Kidman also let it slip that the next season of the show might be happening soon. Also, several of the Big Little Lies stars, including Witherspoon, Kravitz, and Woodley, have publicly expressed their wish to come up with the third season of the series.

FAQs:

1. When will Big Little Lies Season 3 come out?

As of now, no official release date has been announced.

2. Will there be a third season of Big Little Lies?

Yes, Francesca Sloane is writing the first episode of the series’ Season 3.

3. Are Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon coming back in Big Little Lies Season 3?

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 release date speculation and news

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

The zany idea follows an earlier musical episode as well as an unexpected crossover with animated series Lower Decks, which saw Jack Quaid (Brad Boimler) and Tawny Newsome (Beckett Mariner) bring their voice roles to live-action.

Clearly, this is a show that isn’t afraid to keep surprising fans, whether longtime Trekkies or newcomers to the constantly evolving franchise.

If you’re excited to see more, here’s everything we know so far about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 on Paramount Plus.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 release date speculation

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 does not yet have a confirmed release date, but the episodes are confirmed to be dropping in 2026 on Paramount Plus.

Production got underway in March of this year, meaning that it’s quite possible that season 4 will be ready by May or June 2026, thus returning it to the months that seasons 1 and 2 began in years’ past.

Of course, the third was severely delayed by the Hollywood strikes of 2023, which saw members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) withdraw their labour from numerous high-profile projects.

The rapid progress on season 4 and the advance renewal of Strange New Worlds for a fifth and final season seems designed to help the show recapture its lost momentum after that longer-than-planned hiatus.

Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Celia Rose Gooding are confirmed to be reprising their roles in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4, having been pictured on the set of the upcoming episodes.

Other key cast members, such as Rebecca Romijn and Babs Olusanmokun, are also returning, alongside repeat guest stars Paul Wesley (James T Kirk), Adrian Holmes (Robert April) and Dan Jeannotte (Sam Kirk).

Here’s a round-up of the Strange New Worlds season 4 cast announced so far:

  • Anson Mount as Christopher Pike
  • Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley / Number One
  • Ethan Peck as Spock
  • Jess Bush as Christine Chapel
  • Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh
  • Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura
  • Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas
  • Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga
  • Martin Quinn as Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott
  • Paul Wesley as James T Kirk
  • Adrian Holmes as Robert April
  • Dan Jeannotte as Sam Kirk

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will once again send its crew on a number of wild adventures, including another comical foray into surreal territory with a puppet-led episode.

The light-hearted sci-fi series has previously toyed with its format, producing both a musical episode and an animated crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks.

This puppet edition marks one of their most ambitious efforts yet, with showrunner Henry Alonso Myers explaining that “a lot of time and care” went into it, estimating the work to have spanned “more than six months”.

Other episodes will no doubt be teased as we get closer to the release.

Is there a trailer for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4?

Alas, there’s no full trailer for the next chapter just yet, but Paramount Plus did drop a sneak peek at a puppet-themed episode at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Watch here:

T.J. Finally Explains the Season 41 Points Twist

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains spoilers for The Challenge, Season 41 Episode 7, “At Least Someone’s Getting Laid!”]

Let’s get this out of the way first: Yes, the title of this episode is reflective of the fact that The Challenge house became hookup central for a pair of players: Nany González, who was coming out of a very serious relationship, and Will Gagnon, who was the sadboy who punched a wall at the beginning of the season over Dee Valladares hooking up with Johnny Bananas. Yes, the cameras captured a copious amount of the action and shared it with audiences. And yes, everyone talked about it and made crude jokes, with the parties involved laughing as much as anyone.

It’s typical Challenge fashion to have a few sultry showmances throughout the season — some that last, and some that, like this one, apparently, are just purely physical and temporary.

Moving on! The daily challenge was the show’s first-ever grand prix-style episode, fit with go-karts and a series of puzzles that the players had to take turns trying to solve. Called “Drive Me Crazy,” the game had 13 stations with one car and four stacked puzzles. One member of the pair had to drive laps, and the other had to figure out the puzzle, and they took turns until it was done. Chris “C.T.” Tamburello initially struggled with the car because of his size — “I feel like Bowser,” he joked at his own expense — but with Aneesa Ferreira at his side, the two managed to become true contenders in the challenge. They came this close to finishing first, but that honor went to Nany and her partner, Leo Dionici. The day’s losing pair was Tay Wilcoxson and Yeremi Hykel.

Nany and Leo had to choose who to save from the jury vote for the arena — with Tay automatically going in, since it was a women’s elimination day — and she picked her newest BFF Ashley Mitchell without much incident.

The jury then had to choose who to send in against Tay, and while others like Jonna Mannion and Dee also came into the mix, the vote ultimately went to Izzy Fairthorne (who was partnered with Will).

In the arena, titled “Pick It Up Again,” Tay and Izzy had to shoot hoops and build towers while their ball went through a giant gameboard, catching the ball before it got all the way through to the ground. Izzy struggled dearly with it, thanks in part to the fact that her platform was already leaning, but Tay stuck with it and emerged victorious. With that, Izzy went home, Will became the automatic hangnail, and new teams were chosen.

In the selection, the following new teams were made: Nany and Cedric Hodges; Leo and Olivia Kaiser; Aneesa and Jake Cornish; C.T. and Michaela Bradshaw; America Lopez and Gabe Wai; Derek Chavez and Aviv Melmed; Justin Hinson and Ashley; Sydney Segal and Yeremi; Jonna and Turabi “Turbo” Çamkıran; Dee and Theo Campbell; Leroy Garrett and Tay.

Then came some real excitement: Host T.J. Lavin finally, finally revealed what the points the players have been collecting all season will be good for. Whoever has the most points will get their first pick for their teammate for the rest of the season, he revealed. The only limitation is that they’ll have the same criteria as the prior selections: “Opposite stripe, opposite gender,” he said. He still didn’t reveal when exactly this ultra-selection ceremony will occur, but at least we now know what that tallyboard has in store for the remaining contestants.

Meet the new cast of Only Murders in the Building Season 5: Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz and more

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building is here, and the Arconia has fresh faces. The Hulu hit dropped its first three episodes on September 9, kicking off another round of chaos for Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez). This time, the victim is close to home – beloved doorman Lester, played by Teddy Coluca. His death in the courtyard fountain pulls the trio back into sleuth mode.

“Our beloved doorman has a hold of a large amount of tenants in our buildings’ secrets,” co-creator John Hoffman told Decider last year. “We really are dipping our toe into a New York City in season 5 that feels particularly ripped from the headlines in certain ways that we’ve not done before,” he added.

Returning players include Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Nathan Lane, Richard Kind, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Téa Leoni. But it’s the newcomers that have people talking.

Renée Zellweger leads the new arrivals

Renée Zellweger plays Camila White, a powerful billionaire tied to the city’s hospitality world. In the trailer, she drops a chilling line: “The easiest way to win is to make your opponent think they’re playing a different game entirely.”

Christoph Waltz joins as Bash Steed, a tech mogul whose sudden interest in the Arconia raises suspicion. Logan Lerman rounds out the trio of billionaires as Jay Pflug, heir to a pharmaceutical empire. “This is the new mob of New York! These people could be killers,” Oliver declares in the preview.

The list does not stop there. Keegan-Michael Key steps in as embattled Mayor Tillman. Jermaine Fowler plays Randall, the doorman reluctantly promoted after Lester’s death. Beanie Feldstein appears as Althea – or “Thé” – Mabel’s estranged childhood friend turned pop star. Bobby Cannavale shows up as mob-tied Nicky Caccimelio, while Dianne Wiest plays Lester’s widow, Lorraine.

A mix of comedy, star power, and suspicion

According to People, the season weaves in corruption, celebrity, and old rivalries alongside the murder mystery. Feldstein’s flashy pop star clashes with Mabel. Cannavale’s mobster raises red flags after a fight with Lester. Wiest delivers heart as the grieving wife with her late husband’s secrets.

The newcomers expand an already stacked cast while keeping the series’ balance of humor and tension intact. With Streep, Zellweger, Waltz, and Wiest sharing the screen, season 5 leans even harder into prestige casting.

Hoffman called Wiest’s addition a personal thrill, telling Parade he “couldn’t believe” she said yes. Five seasons in, the Arconia still has secrets – and now even more suspects.
