Melissa McCarthy Gets Engulfed by a Snowstorm on Saturday Night Live

by jummy84 December 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Melissa McCarthy got Saturday Night Live in the holiday spirit with a festive opening monologue, where she was toppled by a huge faux snowstorm.

After a few weeks off air, the two-time Oscar nominee began the episode by celebrating how “great” it was to be back for her sixth time hosting the sketch comedy series. Marking the first episode to air in the month of December, McCarthy also commemorated it being “a special time of the year.”

“It’s about family and friends and classic Christmas music. Come on, set the mood, gang,” she said as music began playing in the background. The actress then went on to show off her talents as a musician, one that plays the “mouth horn.”

“Speaking of music, there’s something most people don’t know about me, and it’s that I am a musician. And my instrument is the mouth horn. That’s right, it’s the mouth horn,” she said before she began humming the tune of “Carol of the Bells.”

McCarthy continued to rave about the holiday season, noting that she “love[s] this time of year,” going on to list a few reasons why: “The tree is lit, and Santa’s checking his lists. He’s got naughty and nice, and Epstein.”

“We could all use a little Christmas magic. So how about we put a little bit of snow to get us in the holiday mood?” she said as a string of flurries fell down around her on-set. “This is SNL, Don’t be stingy with the snow!”

The snowfall began lightly, but quickly picked up, as a wave of snow fell on top of the Little Mermaid star, engulfing her with a faux snowstorm. “Okay, that was way too much,” she exclaimed as she went on to continue the monologue, where Marcello Hernandez joined her on-stage to prompt a “piano duet.”

The SNL cast member wheeled a piano into the frame, where he accidentally pushed McCarthy out of said frame as the two bickered back and forth. Hernandez set the piano into place, as the actress joked that he dropped it on her fingers.

“Now I’ve ruined Christmas,” she said, though Kenan Thompson assured her she did not sour the occasion.

“Oh, nonsense, Melissa McCarthy. Come on, you haven’t ruined Christmas at all. Everyone here loves you,” he said. “Now why don’t we do one of your favorite Christmas songs?”

“You want me to sing?” the actress asked, as Thompson responded, “No, no. I want you to blow that sweet horn.” McCarthy then mumbled the melody of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” while a few additional SNL cast members joined her to sing and dance.

Earlier in the night, Colin Jost began the cold open by portraying Pete Hegseth, who was asked by a journalist if there was “any truth to the allegations that after an initial strike on a drug smuggling boat, you ordered a second strike to kill the survivors?”

“First of all, that kind of cruel, heartless act has no place in operation Kill Everybody,” he replied. “Second, I wasn’t in the room when it happened, okay? I was so jacked up after the first strike I had to make an emergency call to my sponsor — I’m sorry, a guy at an anonymous meeting — so I don’t drink something that I like and I want but I can’t have, but I want it, and I need it and I want it right now. It’s booze.”

James Austin Johnson joined the cold open as Trump, who showed his support for Hegseth.

“We love Pete. He’s a great guy. He’s just fog of war, right? Fog of war. It’s a thing you only say after doing war crime, right? You never hear a general go, ‘Everything went according to plan in fog of war.’ It’s like when you go into the sauna at Equinox and suddenly you’re doing stuff you never did before,” Johnson’s Trump said. “Fog of War, we love it. It’s a great new excuse, we love it. So I stand by Pete, and nothing can change my mind less. Unless of course, it could hurt me in any way, in which case, I’ll throw him under one of Mamdani’s free buses.”

McCarthy served as the first SNL host of December, alongside Dijon as musical guest. Saturday night marked her sixth time leading the show, though she’s made several cameos over the years.

There are two more SNL shows left for 2025, with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Josh O’Connor set to make his hosting debut on Dec. 13, with Lily Allen as musical guest. Ariana Grande will be the final host of the year, with none other than Cher as the Dec. 20 musical guest, making her first appearance on the sketch comedy show since 1987.

Season 51 has already aired six episodes, as Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell all took turns in the leading role.

‘Saturday Night Live,’ ‘Munsters’ Producer Was 82

by jummy84 December 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Craig Kellem, a onetime agent for comic legends George Carlin and Lily Tomlin who served as a producer on the chaotic first season of Saturday Night Live and on syndicated reboots of The Munsters, Dragnet and Adam-12, has died. He was 82.

Kellem died Nov. 24 at an assisted living facility in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, his daughter Judy Hammett told The Hollywood Reporter. She and her father were partners in Hollywoodscript.com, a boutique script-consultation company he founded in 1998.

After serving alongside Lorne Michaels as a producer and talent coordinator on SNL’s inaugural 1975-76 season, he and Michaels produced The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash, a 1978 NBC mockumentary about a Beatles-like band that was written by, co-directed and starred Eric Idle.

As a senior vp with the MCA-backed The Arthur Co., Kellem worked as a co-executive producer for two seasons (1989-91) on The Munsters Today, which ran for three years and starred John Schuck as Herman Munster and Lee Meriwether as his wife, Lily.

He also helped shepherd The New Dragnet, starring Jeff Osterhage and Bernard White, and The New Adam-12, starring Peter Parros and Ethan Wayne. Both shows aired for two seasons, 1989-91 and 1990-91, respectively.

Craig Charles Kellem was born in Philadelphia on Jan. 24, 1943. His father was Milton Kellem, a popular bandleader, songwriter (“Gonna Get Along Without Ya Now”), restaurateur and orchestra conductor for network radio programs, and his mother, Judy Shinn, was a model and a weather girl for local TV stations.

Kellem started out as an assistant at a talent agency, then became an agent with Creative Management Associates — where he was known as the “Road Runner of Madison Avenue” — and General Amusement Corp., where as a junior agent in the late 1960s he took on Carlin when others at the firm weren’t paying much attention to him.

He and Carlin reunited when the comic hosted the first episode of SNL.

“We almost didn’t get on the air because dress rehearsal went so poorly,” Kellem said in James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales’ 2002 book, Live From New York: The Complete Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live. “I remember Lorne seriously asking the network people — or having me ask them — to have a movie ready to go, just in case. And I don’t think he was kidding.”

Kellem had worked on the Sammy Davis Jr. syndicated talk show Sammy and Company and on NBC’s The Gladys Knight & the Pips Show earlier in 1975 before landing on SNL.

He later served as vp comedy development at Universal Television on such shows as Charles in Charge and Domestic Life and as a director of development for late night, syndication and daytime at 20th Century Fox Television.

His producing credits included the 1976 NBC special The Beach Boys: It’s OK, which featured concert footage from Brian Wilson’s return to the stage, and two more shows from The Arthur Co: the 1990-91 syndicated sitcom What a Dummy and the 1991-93 ABC reality series FBI: The Untold Stories, narrated by Pernell Roberts.

He and his daughter wrote the 2018 book Get It on the Page: Top Script Consultants Show You How.

Survivors also include his wife, Vivienne; son Sean; another daughter, Joelle; a brother; four grandchildren; and a niece and nephews. Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

“Though Craig had many amazing traits, he was perhaps most known for his incredible sense of humor,” his family noted. “His ability to bring deep laughter into any room was a gift to all who knew him.”

Pete Davidson open to Saturday Night Live return

9 November 2025

Pete Davidson is open to returning to the Saturday Night Live cast.

Pete Davidson is open to returning to Saturday Night Live

The 31-year-old star – who was just 20 years old when he joined the comedy sketch show in 2024 – left the programme in 2022, though he returned as a guest host the following year, but if showrunner Lorne Michaels asked him to make a comeback, he’d willingly agree.

Asked what he would do if Lorne asked him to return to the cast, he admitted he would and told People magazine: “I’d do anything for Lorne.

“I had a great time hosting last time, and anytime you get that call, it’s an honour and a privilege.

“It’s always relevant, it’s a hot show. People look forward to it, and the cast is great.

“I owe that guy my life. He jump-started everything. So I’d do anything for Lorne, and he knows that.”

The Bupkis actor recently admitted he wasn’t universally popular on the show and some co-stars found him “annoying”.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, he shared: “You got to remember, everyone there did Second City, improv, worked so hard — so hard. I’m not saying I didn’t work hard, but I was only doing comedy for three, four years.

“And a lot of what people liked about me was, ‘Oh, this was a kid from Staten Island that’s just talking s***. So you gotta remember all of these people are 10, 15 years older than me and working so hard.”

Pete thinks that some of the his castmates’ frustrations stemmed from their relatively modest pay at Saturday Night Live.

The comedian explained: “At the time, you weren’t allowed to do stuff outside of the show that was a payday.

“It was like the Yankees — no beards. You gotta dress up to go to the afterparty and all this s***. So I think I did rub people the wrong way, and I think it was just annoying for the cast.”

Meanwhile, Pete recently revealed that Eddie Murphy inspired him to reduce his social circle.

The actor stars alongside Eddie, 64, in The Pickup, their new comedy movie, and Pete confessed to being inspired by his co-star.

Speaking to People, Pete joked: “I’ve been guilty of having 700 friends in the green room. People I just met or are just in the crew, and then I’m like, ‘Why did they not have my best interest in mind?'”

Pete observed that Eddie “moved” in a totally different way to himself, and the comedy star eventually decided to follow suit.

Pete said: “He has a really small crew, and it’s the same people for a really long time, and I think that’s really important to have an efficient career and just overall life in this business.

“You have to be able to trust who’s around you, and you got to be able to move a certain type of way.

“I’m not Eddie Murphy by any means, but especially when you’re at his level, you need to be able to trust everyone around you.”

Is ‘CBS Saturday Morning’ Canceled? What’s Going on at Paramount – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 November 1, 2025

The last week of October 2025 proved to be a difficult one for the entire Paramount Global team amid its merger with Skydance Media. Layoffs and shocking departures plagued the team, and after a report regarding Gayle King‘s future with CBS Mornings came out, a separate report surfaced about CBS Saturday Morning with co-hosts Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, leaving viewers wondering if the show had been canceled.

Read on to find out what’s going on with CBS Saturday Morning.

Is CBS Saturday Morning Canceled?

No, CBS Saturday Morning has not been canceled by the network, but there will be changes to the staffing, The New York Post reported on October 29, 2025. According to the outlet, sources close to the matter claimed that CBS News’ new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, and the network’s president, Tom Cibrowski, determined that CBS Saturday Morning was “too expensive” and that Dana and Michelle would need to leave.

Where Will Michelle Miller & Dana Jacobson Go After CBS?

Since Michelle and Dana have yet to comment on their apparent departure from CBS Saturday Morning, it’s unclear where the co-hosts will go next. NYP reported that Michelle and Dana were informed that they would be released due to the network’s “radical revamp.”

Is Gayle King Leaving CBS Mornings?

No, Gayle is not planning on leaving CBS Mornings, despite a report from Variety citing multiple sources familiar with the situation that she would leave the network once her contract expires in 2026.

“I am here and glad to be here,” Gayle clarified to TMZ on October 31, 2025. “I don’t know what to tell you about it, but what I am hearing in the building is not what I’m reading in the press, and what I’m not going to do is negotiate in the media. … All I have been told by everybody in this building is that they want me here.”

Gayle added that, as far as she knows, CBS “likes the job [she is] doing” and continued, “I’ll say this: I like the job, and the people that I work with, so I don’t know what to tell you.”

After the report came out, a spokesperson for CBS News said that the network has had “no discussions” with Gayle regarding her contract.

“There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026,” the spokesperson said. “She’s a truly valued part of CBS, and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.”

Sabrina Carpenter Performs “Manchild” and “Nobody’s Son” on Saturday Night Live: Watch

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Sabrina Carpenter was the host and musical guest on last night’s (October 18) episode of Saturday Night Live, where she performed songs from her new album Man’s Best Friend. Dressed in SNL-themed underwear, Carpenter sang the single “Manchild” into a hairbrush; later, she donned a gi and did some karate for the album track “Nobody’s Son.” Carpenter also starred in sketches throughout the evening as a 12-year-old boy podcast host, a girlboss motivational speaker who suffers a head injury, and a singing washing machine.

In her opening monologue, Carpenter addressed the controversy around the Man’s Best Friend album cover. “What people don’t realize is that’s just how they cropped it,” she joked. “If you zoom out it’s clearly a picture from the [Saturday Night Live] 50th anniversary special of Bowen [Yang] helping me up by the hair after Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like ‘Daddy need his mini quiche.’” Carpenter also touched on her brand as a “horndog popstar”—“I’m not just horny, I’m also turned on, and sexually charged”—did some sexually charged crowd work, and was nearly arrested by Keenan Thompson. Watch Carpenter’s full speech and performances, plus her SNL promo video with cast member Marcello Hernandez, below.

Last night marked Carpenter’s third appearance on Saturday Night Live—fourth if you count her cameo in this year’s Quinta Brunson-hosted episode. She first stopped by Studio 8H as musical guest on the heels of her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet, and was a part of SNL50: The Anniversary Special, where she performed a duet of the Simon & Garfunkel song “Homeward Bound” alongside Paul Simon. On Thursday, Carpenter will kick off a run of North American arena shows, with stops in Pittsburgh, New York, Nashville, Toronto, and Los Angeles.

Season 51 of Saturday Night Live premiered on October 4. The season debut was hosted by Bad Bunny, with Doja Cat serving as musical guest. After taking this week off, SNL’s next three episodes are set to feature Miles Teller and Brandi Carlile, Nikki Glaser and Sombr, and Glen Powell and Olivia Dean, respectively.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Releases Promos for Sabrina Carpenter Episode

by jummy84 October 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Is “Sabrina and the City” the latest Sex and the City spinoff? Not quite. But it is the premise for Saturday Night Live’s first teaser for pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s upcoming episode.

The Man’s Best Friend singer, who previously appeared on the show as a musical guest, is taking on double-duty this Saturday (Oct. 18) as SNL’s host and musical guest.

In a promotional video titled, “And Just Like That…Sabrina Carpenter Is Hosting SNL,” Carpenter turns into her own version of Carrie Bradshaw. “New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live,” the singer says in a classic Sex and the City voiceover to kick off the video.

Carpenter encounters several SNL castmembers, ignoring their normal questions and answering in lines that sound like they’ve been pulled from the HBO show. “Thank God, it’s Mr. Big,” she yells at one point, referencing Carrie’s longtime Sex and the City love interest, before running over to Marcello Hernández. “Oh, hey, it’s actually Marcello but I’ll take it,” he answers.

Hernández and Carpenter are certainly not strangers. On top of doing the week’s second promotional video together, Hernández gained immense popularity for a character he played on the show named Domingo, who was featured in a wedding-themed parody skit set to Carpenter’s song “Espresso.” She even joined in for a follow-up sketch earlier this year, set to a song from Wicked, a nod to fellow pop star Ariana Grande, who was in the first sketch.

In the second video released ahead of the episode, Carpenter jokes that she might need to arrest someone for being too hot — a nod to her song “Juno,” where she picks an audience member to “arrest” for that reason. Carpenter even arrested Hernández, reprising his Domingo character, at an L.A. show last year. In the promo, Hernández holds his hands out, ready to be arrested, before Carpenter picks the show’s cameraman.

Carpenter follows Bad Bunny and SNL alum Amy Poehler as hosts of season 51. Miles Teller, Nikki Glaser and Glen Powell were just announced as the show’s upcoming hosts; however, the full lineup of hosts and musical guests for this season hasn’t been revealed.

Jennifer Aniston hesitated to join Saturday Night Live

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

14 October 2025

Jennifer Aniston had a “self-righteous attitude” towards joining Saturday Night Live.

Jennifer Aniston could’ve joined the comedy show

The 56-year-old actress nearly joined the long-running sketch show before she was cast as Rachel Green in Friends, and Jennifer now admits that she was a little bit hesitant at the thought of joining the Saturday Night Live cast.

During an appearance on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, Jennifer shared: “I always thought I was such hot s***. The story of that is all very confusing.

“Honestly, today I’d have to ask Lorne, because I remember, I was in New York City, and I had a meeting with Lorne Michaels, and I ran into [Adam] Sandler and [David] Spade in the room right outside. And I knew Sandler forever.”

Jennifer was reluctant to join such a “male-dominated” show at the time. And ultimately, she was offered a starring role in Friends instead.

She explained: “I don’t know why I had this self-righteous attitude of ‘I don’t know if women are treated the way they should be treated on this show.’ It’s a very male-dominated [show,] I would love to be here if it was in the Gilda Radner day.

“I mean, this is the brain that semi-remembers things that are back that far. Something like that. I can’t remember, but I just remember Friends then happened.”

Jennifer previously revealed sow she reacted to the opportunity to join the hit comedy show.

The movie star told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021: “I was so young and dumb and I went into Lorne’s office and I was like, ‘I hear women are not respected on this show’. I don’t remember exactly what I said next, but it was something like, ‘I would prefer if it were like the days of Gilda Radner and Jane Curtin.’

“I mean, it was such a boys’ club back then, but who the f*** was I to be saying this to Lorne Michaels?! So yes, adorably that happened and I’ve hosted Saturday Night Live a couple of times, and I love it so much.”
