Furry friends join festive season in sherwanis, sarees and lehengas

The second half of the year in India brims with lights, colours and the usual festive excitement. As webring out our traditional best, from shimmering sarees to tailored sherwanis, our furry friends are no longer being left behind. Across India, pet brands are now designing intricate sherwanis, tiny lehengas, and cute blouses, ensuring that cats and dogs can celebrate the season in equally stylish fashion.

Furry friends join festive season in sherwanis, sarees and lehengas

Thechowmeow, a Rajasthan-basedbrand delivering pan India, dresses furry babies in blouses, lehengas, and sherwanis. “For me, including pets in festivals by making them wear traditional outfits is just a way of showing love to your furry friends that they are also our family members. I have gotten many orders for matching outfits this season, like lehenga choli, sherwani with dhoti, and anarkali dresses, all under ₹1,000,” says founder Vandana Suman.

She uses laces for detailing and matching fabrics. For shimmery or other fabrics, they always use a lining inside, along with velcro and straps to adjust, so the pet feels comfortable while walking and sitting.

Shreya Goyal, founder of Delhi-based Furrvanity, tells us that they often get colour swatches, outfit pictures, and even design references from clients who want their pets’ looks to match theirs perfectly. “This year, we’re really going all out with variety and craftsmanship. We have some unique pieces like Maharashtrian sarees, kurtas with half jackets, intricately embroidered lehengas, anarkalis, and angrakhas. Our sarees have been an absolute hit this year, catching everyone’s eye,” she adds.

The festive range starts from ₹999 and goes up to ₹5,000, depending on the design, detailing, and level of customisation.

WRAPINFUR, an online pet brand, lines their outfits with pure cotton to protect sensitive pet skin, with prices starting from ₹649 “We use cotton lining inside if we are using fabric and make sure it is designed in such a way that it doesn’t irritate the pet. We also provide a hassle-free size exchange, since many pet parents are often unsure about their pet’s exact measurements,” says founder Chinmaye Agarwal.

It’s a sentiment that resonates deeply with pet parents as well. Mumbai-based Simran Singh dresses her beagle, Poppins in festive clothing in a new colour each year to see which one suits him best. “We think he looks the cutest in a bandhgala kurta. Diwali just feels incomplete if Poppins isn’t wearing a sparkly kurta for the evening puja,” she adds.

Delhi-based Priyanka Kapoor dresses her golden retriever, Alex, in matching outfits, often customised by her local tailor. “I love dressing him up, but his comfort comes first,” she says.

Deepika Padukone to Katrina Kaif: Stars ruled the spotlight in red sarees

Red sarees? Yes please. Bollywood’s girl gang is making a strong case for them, again! Whether it is festivals, weddings or grand receptions, our favorite stars are draping themselves in six yards of fiery elegance. From sindoori silks to sequinned organza, these ladies are proving that red isn’t just a color, it is a vibe.

And guess what? They’re not playing it safe. Think plunging necklines, gold embroidery, dramatic buns and a whole lot of bling. From Anushka’s bridal Benarasi throwback from her reception to Alia’s dreamy Durga Puja moment, the red saree is having its red-hot renaissance. So, if you’re looking for inspiration for that next big function or just want to stalk some fab fashion, you’re in the right place. Let’s take a trip through the best red saree moments that totally stole the spotlight and maybe even a few hearts along the way. Warning: You might want to buy a red saree for your upcoming festivals after this.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone looked absolutely stunning draped in a red saree adorned with intricate Bandhani detailing. The saree’s bodice was beautifully accented with delicate embroidered points. Not to mention, the detailing added a touch of elegance. She paired it with a matching high-neck blouse featuring half sleeves and exquisite embroidery. The back design of the blouse pefectly complemented her dramatic ensemble. The entire look was pure perfection. For her makeup, Deepika chose eyeliner-heavy eyes and defined brows. She kept her hair in a bun with a gajra tied around.

Katrina Kaif

Red sarees

Katrina’s red and gold saree at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding captured everyone’s attention for months. She walked confidently in a red Sabyasachi saree adorned with delicate buti motifs and a detailed scalloped border. The hem featured unique gold floral embroidery, which made the outfit appear truly special. Staying elegant and traditional, she paired it with a solid red blouse that had full sleeves and a high, round neckline. Interestingly, the structure of the blouse offered a fresh change from the more common sweetheart or plunging necklines.

Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor’s recent look for Ganpati celebrations was stunning and vibrant. She wore a beautiful red saree adorned with large flower detailing throughout. She paired it perfectly with a contrasting orange blouse. Her accessories included elegant golden earrings and a delicate nose ring. Janhvi’s makeup complemented her outfit flawlessly. She opted for a soft, glowing base with subtle contouring. Yes, she went on with a warm-toned eyeshadow, thick lashes and pink lips. The actress looked graceful as she sought blessings from Ganpati.

Anushka Sharma

Red sarees

Anushka Sharma’s reception ensemble from 2017 remains unforgettable and still quite talked about! She perfectly balanced tradition with a modern touch. The saree was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. It reflected exquisite craftsmanship and thoughtful artistry. For her reception, Anushka chose a magnificent red and gold Banarasi silk sari. Anushka was clear about going all out on a traditional look for her special day.

The saree was crafted by skilled artisans from the Peeli Kothi area of Benaras. They showcased intricate handwoven motifs that celebrated the age-old weaving techniques of the region. The fabric featured a thick and ornate zari border alongside another delicately embroidered border. Anushka paired this stunning drape with a half-sleeved and high-neck blouse. The look was a masterful tribute to Indian craftsmanship while also reflecting Anushka’s personal fashion.

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Red sarees

Kareena recently stunned in a red Ritu Kumar saree. Interestingly, the Red Villa saree from Ritu Kumar’s collection featured delicate zari gold embroidery and lace accents in soft silk Chinon fabric. The delicate craftsmanship of the saree elevated her overall aesthetic. She paired the saree with multi-layered necklace with green stones. She kept her makeup soft and dewy with nude glossy lips and heavily kohl-ed eyes. For her hairstyle, she kept it open and free-flowing, which complimented her toned silhouette.

Vidya Balan

Red sarees

Vidya Balan shared photos of herself wearing a sindoori red silk saree paired with gold jewelry for a photoshoot. Her saree featured a broad patti border and detailed gold brocade embroidery. She draped the six-yard saree in a traditional style, with the pallu neatly placed over her shoulder and the pleats falling gracefully at the front. The look was completed with a matching red silk blouse. The blouse had a wide plunging neckline, gold brocade work, half sleeves, a fitted bust and a cropped hem.

For her accessories, Vidya chose a small red bindi, ornate gold jhumkas, patterned bangles and a bold statement ring. Her hair was styled in a sleek bun with a center part. The makeup included darkened brows, subtle eyeshadow, mascara and a bold red lip. She also wore a dewy base with blushed cheeks and light contouring. The entire look was elegant and perfectly balanced!

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt had caught everyone’s attention when she visited the North Bombay Sharbojanin Durga Puja pandal last year. She had worn a beautiful sindoori red saree by Torani. The saree was elegant and featured detailed gold sequins, zardozi and mirror work. It was made of organza and Alia draped it traditionally. She let the pallu fall over her shoulder.

She matched the saree with a silk blouse that had a plunging sweetheart neckline. The blouse was decorated with gold gota embroidery on the straps and zardozi work on the bust. Alia styled her hair in a messy bun. Her makeup featured pink eyeshadow, a small bindi and glossy lips. She completed the look with gold jhumkas from Amrapali Jewels.

There you have it, seven stars and seven red sarees. Oh and zero dull moments! Whether it was Deepika’s Bandhani elegance, Kareena’s Ritu Kumar glam or Janhvi’s festive floral flair, each diva brought her own spice to the classic red look. These aren’t just outfits. They are style statements with serious desi drama.

And can we talk about the makeup and accessories? Glossy lips, smoky eyes, heavy jhumkis, gajras and more. Each look was curated to perfection and yet totally personal. So next time you are wondering how to style your red drape, just channel your inner Bollywood goddess. Go bold, add a bindi maybe throw in a bun. You know, you should own that red because if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it is that red never goes out of style. And neither do our queens.
