bitchy | Prince William: ‘Catherine probably does the bulk of’ the kids’ school runs

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

With every story I’ve written about Prince William’s Earthshot events in Brazil, my favorite comments are “so, is he going to say anything about who actually won the prizes this year?” It’s true that all of the stories about Billy’s Big Brazilian Flop Tour are centered on Billy boy himself. Bill played volleyball and looked ridiculous! Bill took a private jet to Belem! Bill set up a photo-op on a private plane to prove that he’s literate! Bill is incandescent with rage that his Brazilian Flop Tour got overshadowed! And on and on. To be fair, I do think he spent a small amount of time talking to and about the Earthshot winners, it’s just that the press didn’t cover any of it whatsoever. Well, Bill was interviewed by a local Brazilian outlet last week, and the interview is just getting attention now, one week later. Instead of focusing on Earthshot or the winners, William… talked about his home life and the fakakta school run.

The Prince of Wales has discussed the challenges of answering difficult questions from his three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, ten, and Prince Louis, seven, amid his wife Kate’s cancer battle. The future King, 43, opened up to Brazilian TV show host, Luciano Huck, during his trip to Rio de Janeiro last week for the Earthshot Prize Awards.

“Every family has its own difficulties and its own challenges, and I think it’s very individual as to how you deal with those problems,” William spoke candidly. “We choose to communicate a lot more with our children, that has its good things and its bad things, sometimes you feel you’re oversharing with the children when you probably shouldn’t.”

“But most of the time hiding stuff from them doesn’t work, and so explaining to them how they feel, why that’s happening, giving them other viewpoints as to why they might be feeling the way like they are, sometimes helps give them a bigger picture and they can relax more into it, rather than being really anxious about what you’re hiding from them. There can be a lot more questions than answers. It’s always a balancing act, every parent knows that, it’s about how much do I say? There’s no manual for being a parent, you’ve just got to go with it, it’s A bit of instinct.”

In the wide-ranging interview, William also spoke about the family’s home life, revealing how they fit their royal engagements around the school run and their children’s extracurricular activities saying: “Play dates, taxi driver, sports days, matches, playing in the garden when I can. School run most days, I mean Catherine and I share it, but she probably does the bulk of it.”

And while he’s previously spoken about the children not having mobile phones, he wants to approach technology with caution.

“It is really hard. Our children don’t have phones,” he explained. “When George moves onto secondary school, maybe he’ll have one with limited access. We talk to him and explain why we don’t think it’s right. With full access, children end up seeing things on the internet that they shouldn’t. But with restricted access, I think it’s good for messaging.”

[From Hello]

We’ll get to his quotes in a moment, and I understand he was just answering the questions asked, but wow, everything about his Earthshot press just emphasizes the fact that this is all a vanity project for him and an excuse to center himself constantly. Why the f–k are you talking about the school run to a Brazilian media outlet in the middle of an Earthshot trip? As for the quotes… I think it’s fine that he’s talking about how his kids don’t have phones, and I also think that flip-phones need to make a comeback. And if Kate is doing the bulk of the school runs, then what is William doing during all of his time “off”? Why can he only do one day of work a week if Kate is the one on the school run? All of the family communication stuff is whatever, all of it so obviously a lie. Mark my words, Carole Middleton is the one explaining stuff to those kids.

Watch Role Model Bring Out Charli XCX for ‘Sally, When the Wine Runs Out’

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Role Model debuts on the late night show performing his viral hit with help from the British pop star, plus another song from his latest album

Singer-songwriter Role Model debuted as Saturday Night Live musical guest with two songs from the deluxe edition of Kansas Anymore, his second studio album, which he released in February.

After an introduction from SNL host Amy Poehler, the 28-year-old Maine native opened with “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” In live performances of the indie pop hit, Role Model has often invited a fan, another musician, or some other special guest to play the part of Sally. Here, it was Charli XCX.

The British pop singer—SNL‘s musical guest last November—received wild screams of approval from the audience. After dancing and swirling her hair to the song’s bridge, she slid her sunglasses onto Role Model’s face, blew him a kiss, then strutted away.

Role Model’s second performance was of the more mellow “Some Protector.”

The artist, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, has said his latest album, which follows 2022’s Rx, is a big step forward.

“I think the one thing I wanted to prove when I first put it out was my growth — my songwriting and my taste in music had matured, and I had also matured as a person,” he told Rolling Stone in a revealing April interview. “It felt like a big shift in the way I would talk about things and write about them, and a big part of that was just me getting to a place on guitar where I could play well enough that I could write songs by myself on it.”

Trending Stories

Role Model, who opened for Gracie Abrams last year and then headlined his No Place Like Tour this spring, will be one of the four artists at Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians live event Oct. 23 at New York’s Beacon Theatre. He will be paired with María Zardoya of the Marias, while Jack Antonoff will join Hayley Williams with Bleachers, for conversations and collaborative performances on stage. SNL‘s James Austin Johnson will host.

Role Model begins a stretch of European shows next month.

Emergency Landing As Plane Nearly Runs Out Of Fuel

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Chiiile… not the whole plane running on fumes! What was supposed to be a routine Ryanair flight from Italy to Scotland turned into a mid-air thriller. This had passengers clutching armrests and praying for a safe landing. Let’s just say… this was not your average turbulence, and baby, the plane was not okay.

RELATED: Flight Attendant Reportedly Files $75M Lawsuit Against Delta Following Crash-Landing Plane Incident In Toronto

From Italy To Panic At 30,000 Feet

On October 3, Ryanair flight FR3418, operated by Malta Air, reportedly left Pisa, Italy, headed for Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland. But what was meant to be a peaceful journey turned into a chaotic ordeal when the plane was forced to declare a mid-air emergency. The flight even used squawk code 7700 — a distress signal that basically screams, “Houston…we got a problem.” Apparently, that problem was likely a fuel emergency.

Storms Hit, Landings Fail, Passengers Start Praying

And, it gets worse — the Boeing 737 tried not once, not twice, but three separate times to land. High winds from Storm Amy made it impossible to safely touch down at either Prestwick or Edinburgh airports. One passenger, still shaken, told the Daily Mail, “The three failed landings were like something you’d watch in a disaster movie… I remember thinking, ‘Is this it?’” Another described people on board praying, with children crying as the plane struggled to find a safe landing zone.

After nearly two hours of circling and re-routing, the flight finally landed at Manchester Airport. But, not before running dangerously low on fuel. According to The Aviation Herald, the plane touched down with only 220kg of fuel in its tanks — just enough to fly for five to six minutes. For context: airlines are legally required to carry at least 30 minutes’ worth of reserve fuel. Alexander Marchi, another shaken flyer, shared that passengers had no idea how bad things were until they saw news coverage after landing. “There was a lot of relief. People were wanting to get off and definitely were not up for flying any time soon, but there was no panic.”

An investigation has been launched after a Ryanair flight came within six minutes of ‘running out of fuel’ mid-air. The flight was heading to Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport from Pisa in Italy on October 3 when it issued a ‘fuel Mayday’ and made an emergency landing in Manchester. It came as Storm Amy brought winds of up to 100mph, sparking transport chaos across the country.  #flight #flightradar #stormamy #storm #plane

Officials Step In After Fuel Scare

Now, after all that mid-air madness, Ryanair’s speaking out. The flight company issued a statement saying the incident has been reported to authorities and is now under investigation.

“Ryanair reported this to the relevant authorities on Friday (3 Oct). As this is now the subject of an ongoing investigation, which we are cooperating fully with, we are unable to comment,”  the airline shared.

Additionally, the U.K.’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has since launched a full inquiry. They’ve also confirmed they are “gathering evidence” on what exactly went down. The organization told the Herald:

“The AAIB has commenced an investigation into a serious incident involving an aircraft which was diverted from Prestwick to Manchester Airport on Friday, 3 October. AAIB Inspectors have begun making enquiries and gathering evidence.”

Harry Styles Runs Berlin Marathon in Under 3 hours

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Harry Styles ran the Berlin Marathon in under three hours on Sunday (Sept. 21).

Organizers confirmed to news agency dpa that Styles took part. Local newspaper Der Tagesspiegel was the first to report his participation.

The 31-year-old former member of boy band One Direction was among some 55,000 runners taking part in the race on what is widely regarded as the fastest marathon track in the world.

Styles — reportedly using the pseudonym Sted Sarandos and wearing a headband and sunglasses — completed the route in two hours, 59 minutes, 13 seconds. A sub-3 hour marathon is a coveted mark for many marathon runners.

Der Tagesspiegel reported that Styles was already spotted running in Berlin in preparation for Sunday’s race.

Styles was in a photo at the finish with Richard Whitehead, a two-time gold medal winner over 200 meters at the Paralympic Games. Whitehead, who is on a quest to run 20 marathons this year, posted the photo on Instagram.

Last month he was spotted training in London, jogging through Hyde Park.

The star previously completed the Tokyo Marathon, finishing 6,010th overall. According to online records, his net time came in around three hours and 24 minutes, with an average pace of about 7:47 per mile — meaning he bested his marathon run time in Berlin.

Styles’ debut album, Harry Styles, topped the Billboard 200 in the U.S., and album charts in Britain and several other countries. His second album, Fine Line, appeared in 2019, became his second solo No. 1 album, and included the Grammy-winning “Watermelon Sugar.”

Host Nate Bargatze Runs Out the Clock

by jummy84 September 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Nate Bargatze, the immensely popular stand-up comedian who admitted near the top of Sunday night’s Emmys telecast that he’s less well-established in Hollywood proper, was always going to have his work cut out for him as the host of television’s most prestigious awards show. By hiring the Nashville, TN native known for self-deprecating humor and charming nonchalance, CBS and producers Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay were taking aim at an audience outside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Bargatze’s everyman appeal lies not with the famous actors and directors gathered to celebrate their best work, but with onlookers who otherwise may not think to watch the Emmys on a night where they could catch an NFL game, an MLB game, or the theme park ride-turned feature film “Jungle Cruise” (on ABC!).

Seth Rogen accepts the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series for “The Studio” at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Peacock Theater on September 14, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

So when his latest and most formal gig began with a sketch — harkening back to his most renowned small-screen success to date: the “Washington’s Dream” sketch on “SNL” — there was reason to believe he’d be able to walk the fine line between sincerely honoring artistic accomplishments and poking fun at those being honored (and, presumably, himself). It’s the host’s eternal struggle, after all: combining the ceremony’s three main genres — comedy, drama, and limited series — into one fun, moving, and snappy show.

Well, “snappy” is a nice way of putting what followed.

While many bad bits are often used to reference infamous awards shows (“Remember when Seth MacFarlane sang ‘I Saw Your Boobs’ at the Oscars?”), it’s rare for a single bit to be so disastrous it tarnishes the entire three-hour production as it’s happening. Then again, it’s also rare for a host to go on live television and hold charity money hostage — his only demand being that those lucky enough to win keep their speeches so short they’re either rushed, forgettable, or bleeped into oblivion.

The rules were simple enough: Winners would be limited to 45 seconds for each speech and penalized $1,000 for every second they go over. If they finished early, Bargatze would donate an extra $1,000 for every second they were under, but the latter situation clearly wasn’t going to outpace the former, and even if it did, the best-case scenario would have been that the show finished early, the speeches were all whittled down to nothing, and the 2025 Emmys telecast was remembered for… ruthless efficiency?

Many viewers took issue with the idea right away, before the donation ticker appeared next to Emmy recipients as they were still speaking, or was cited as a reason for wrapping up before they could remember what they wanted to say, or when it was clear Bargatze wrote 90 percent of his jokes pegged to how much money he was or wasn’t donating to the Boys and Girls Club of America. (And why did those jokes all follow the same structure? It felt like Bargatze said some version of, “That last speech cost me money/saved me money” roughly 19 times.)

Aren’t the speeches why people watch the Emmys? Aren’t the honorees supposed to be thinking about their colleagues, families, and friends, and not how many tens of thousands of dollars thanking them will cost children in need? Shouldn’t they feel proud of their accomplishment by the end, and not ashamed of how many seconds they took up acknowledging it?

Stephen Colbert at the 77TH EMMY® AWARDS, broadcasting live to both coasts from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, Sunday, Sept. 14, (8:00-11:00 PM, LIVE ET/5:00-8:00 PM, LIVE PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+.* -- Photo: Sonja Flemming/CBS ©2025 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. And from the audience’s point of view, do we want to be screaming at our favorite TV stars to hurry up and get off the stage? Do we want to feel guilty for savoring those fragile moments when they take a second to fight back the tears and find just the right words? Would everyone prefer if they just sent out the list of winners as an email? That’s the most efficient way to do it!

The Emmys, for two years in a row and too many years overall, have felt driven more by embarrassment for existing than pride for the mission at hand. Why so many producers feel the need to cater awards shows to people who don’t like awards, I’ll never understand, but the 77th Emmy Awards did little to counter that imbalance, no matter what the final balance of Bargatze’s charity offering turned out to be. (CBS ended up donating $100,000 to Bargatze’s $250,000 for a total of $350,000, after the tracker plunged well into the red following the final few speeches.)

Still, there were highs on the night, and none were higher than when Stephen Colbert sprinted to the stage after winning Best Talk Show for the soon-to-be-canceled “The Late Show.”

“Sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it,” he said. “Ten years [after starting the show], in September of 2025, my friends, I have never loved my country more desperately. God bless America. Stay strong, be brave, and if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and punch a higher floor.”

That sentence may have cost the Boys and Girls Club a few thousand dollars, but in the moment, no one cared — which is how it’s supposed to feel. We’re all supposed to get caught up in the moment. We’re all supposed to share in the excitement. We’re all not supposed to be hoping for a polite nod, a curt word, and then onto the next terse speaker. Colbert’s glee gave his well-written speech an extra oomph, and the crowd was eager to hear anything and everything he had to say. One could even argue they were starved for a heartfelt and inspiring address on a night designed to keep them at bay. (Thank goodness for Hannah Einbinder, as well, whose years-in-the-making speech made a salient political point and came straight from the heart — in just six short words.)

Crstin Milloti at the 77TH EMMY® AWARDS, broadcasting live to both coasts from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, Sunday, Sept. 14, (8:00-11:00 PM, LIVE ET/5:00-8:00 PM, LIVE PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+.* -- Photo: Sonja Flemming/CBS ©2025 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Cristin Milioti’s exuberant win for “The Penguin” stood out in similarly unconstrained fashion, when the long-toiling actress earned her first Emmy (for her first nomination) and let loose on stage. Grinning ear to ear yet clearly overwhelmed by the moment, Milioti notably only broke from her earnest thanks and overt enthusiasm when she noticed her time was about to run out. (“Are you kidding?” she said. “Wow, this really speeds.”) But that didn’t stop her from shouting, “I love you, and I love acting so much!” before letting out an actual scream to end it.

Would the show have been notably better without those nods to love, art, and humanity itself? I think not! Nor would the night be better served by Jeff Hiller — adorned in sparkling pink suit — had faded quietly into the background. “The last 25 years I’ve been like, ‘World, I want to be an actor,’ and the world is like, ‘Maybe computers?’” he said, accepting Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in “Somebody Somewhere.” Thank goodness the Emmy statue, if not the Emmy telecast, spoke up on behalf of a world eager for more of his acting.

Beyond the misjudged charity gambit, the 2025 Emmys also suffered from a general lack of enthusiasm for its honorees — and fans of awards shows in general. There were no clips for the nominees and shockingly few examples of their work shown during the broadcast. The reunions (if you can call them that) did little to stoke nostalgia for shows like “Gilmore Girls” and “Law & Order.” The celebrities in attendance (when they weren’t being hurried off-stage) weren’t well-utilized either. JB Smoove talking to Ben Stiller should be good for at least one laugh, but it was like Stiller had no idea what was happening! Were there no rehearsals this year?

Even Bargatze’s opening sketch felt casually slapped together. As Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of television, Bargatze joked that people don’t actually understand “Severance,” no one knows what a producer does, and only women watch true-crime TV. His few sharper jokes — “What is streaming, sir?” “A new way for people to lose money” — teased better quips to come (like when he alluded to the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger while introducing “Gilmore Girls”), but Bargatze didn’t even give himself enough time to get there. He didn’t do a monologue, and instead moved from the sketch to the first category before returning to introduce the doomed charity speech timer.

“If you want to say more, do it on social media later,” he said. “More people will see it there anyway.”

That may be true, but you still have to put on a show for the people in the auditorium, and the speeches are the show. Don’t be so embarrassed to admit it.

Grade: D+

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards were held Sunday, September 14 at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles, CA. The telecast aired on CBS and is available to stream on Paramount+.
