Madhuri Dixit Joins 8-Hour Shift Debate Amid Deepika Padukone Row; Says, “I’m A Workaholic, We Worked 12-Hours Every Day”

Madhuri Dixit – who is known as the Dhak-Dhak girl of Bollywood is all set to show a side like never before in her upcoming web show Mrs Deshpande. The actress – who rose to fame with iconic films such as Dil, Beta, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dil To Pagal Hai and more, is all set to play a jailed serial killer in the Hotstar show.

During a recent interaction, the actress – who has been part of the industry for over 4 decades, was asked her views about there being an 8-hour shift for actors on movie sets. This conversation gained prominence following Deepika Padukone’s ouster from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Read below to know all the ‘Lajja’ actress had to share.

Madhuri Dixit Weighs In On 8-Hour Shifts Debate

When asked about her views on the 8-hour shift debate, Madhuri Dixit told ANI, “The thing is that when we did Mrs Deshpande, we were working 12-hour shifts every day, like maybe more sometimes… So, I think to each his own.” She continued, “I’m a workaholic. So for me, maybe it’s different, but if a woman has that power and can say, ‘okay, I want to work these many hours,’ then that’s her prerogative, and that’s her life, and that’s how she wants to do it…Then more power to her.”

A while ago, Rani Mukerji also weighed in on the same topic. Stating that there should be better coordination and understanding between actors and producers, the ‘Mardaani’ actress said, “These things are up for conversation today because maybe people are discussing them outside. But this has been the norm with all professions. I’ve also done it where I have worked for certain hours. If the producer’s okay with it, you go ahead with the film. If the producer isn’t okay with it, you don’t make the film. So it’s also a choice. Nobody is forcing anything on anybody.”

Deepika Padukone Fires Back At 8-Hour Shift Row: ‘We Mistake Burnout For Commitment’

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

Deepika Padukone has finally broken her silence on the controversy surrounding her demand for an eight-hour work shift — a debate reignited after her much-publicised exits from Spirit and Kalki 2898 AD sequel. In a candid interview with CNBC-TV18, she painted a picture of double standards in Bollywood, calling for systemic reform in an industry she described as “very disorganised.”

At the heart of her argument is an uncomfortable truth: many male superstars have been working eight-hour days — even weekdays-only schedules — without the scrutiny she’s facing now. “By virtue of being a woman, if that’s coming across as being pushy… so be it,” she said. For her, the problem isn’t just long hours — it’s that the culture glorifies overwork and mistakes burnout for dedication.

Deepika argued that being healthy isn’t a luxury, but a necessity: “Eight hours of work a day is enough for the human body and mind. Only when you’re healthy can you give your best.” She said flexible work hours should not be the exception, but a standard, especially for people who juggle motherhood and grueling work demands. Her own office reportedly follows an 8-hour, 5-day workweek, with maternity and paternity policies and facilities for working parents.

The fallout of these demands has been significant. When Deepika walked away from Spirit, rumors claimed she pushed for shorter hours, profit sharing and even a 25-person entourage with five-star accommodations. These reports gathered traction and fueled criticism, particularly because such requests came just months after she became a mother.

Her exit from Kalki 2 sparked further debate. It was formally announced that she would not reprise her role, and insiders claim her “work-culture demands” played a key part in the fallout. But Deepika insists her case isn’t about special treatment — it’s about basic fairness.

Calling the film industry disorganized, she said it’s time to bring in structure and professionalism. “We really never worked as an industry. It’s time that we brought in some system into this culture,” she argued.

Despite the heat she’s taken, Deepika says she’s unflinching. “I’m okay being abused at. I need to keep reinventing and pushing the boundaries,” she told reporters. She credited her background — raised by an athlete father, Prakash Padukone — for giving her the resilience to tune out noise and persist with what she believes is right.

Deepika’s stand has opened a larger conversation about gender and equity in Bollywood. Many see this as a benchmark moment: if one of the biggest stars can demand fair working conditions, it pressures the system to catch up. Some have already voiced support. For instance, actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh reportedly backed her publicly, highlighting the need for better work-life balance. Meanwhile, Sonakshi Sinha weighed in too: “You do need time for yourself,” she said.

Still, critics remain divided. Some question whether her demands are feasible, especially for large-scale, VFX-heavy productions where long hours may be tied to budget and deadlines. Others argue that her privileges make her push less relatable. But Deepika’s case is not only about her convenience — it’s about redefining what commitment and professionalism mean in modern cinema.

For her part, she’s not backing down. She insists that her fight is not for special favors, but for an industry that respects mental health, parenthood and sustainable work culture. Her exit from two major projects wasn’t a power play — it was a principled stand, and she wants that to spark more than headlines.

As the debate continues, Deepika Padukone’s message remains clear: work culture needs to evolve, not just for her, but for the many who create the stories the world watches.

Jannat Zubair Rallies Behind Ashnoor Kaur After ‘Body-Shaming’ Row On Bigg Boss 19

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Television actress Jannat Zubair has taken a firm stand against body-shaming after fellow contestant Ashnoor Kaur was targeted within the house of Bigg Boss 19. The reaction came after a clip from the show went viral, showing housemates including Tanya Mittal, Kunickaa Sadanand and Neelam Giri making derogatory remarks about Ashnoor’s physique—sparking outrage both online and among Ashnoor’s peers in the industry. Jannat’s outspoken support adds a high-profile voice to the mounting criticism surrounding the show’s environment.

It all began when a live feed from the Bigg Boss 19 house showed Ashnoor standing alongside co-contestant Pranit More, during which Tanya asked Neelam, “Jurassic Park dekhoge?” while pointing at Ashnoor; Kunickaa was seen laughing at the comment. Subsequent remarks by the trio about Ashnoor’s gym efforts and body shape caused widespread backlash. The clip quickly spread across social platforms, leading to numerous calls for accountability.

Reacting to the public uproar, Jannat posted her support for Ashnoor on Instagram. She wrote:

“A person’s body is not public property for jokes and opinions. It’s 2025. We should’ve evolved past body-shaming by now. She’s on that stage because she’s talented, confident and unstoppable—not because she fits someone’s idea of a ‘perfect body’. Proud of you, @ashnoorkaur, for holding your head high and being you!”

So, so disheartening to see females body-shaming a woman on national TV in 2025. This is straight up inhumane! #WeStandWithAshnoor #AshnoorKaur@HotstarReality @EndemolShineIND https://t.co/Iui8clRRzG

— Ashnoor Kaur (@ashnoorkaur03) October 27, 2025

Her message resonated across fan communities and the entertainment industry alike. The outpouring of support for Ashnoor also included a strong response from actor Rohan Mehra, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to harshly criticize the housemates’ behaviour. “Body-shaming is unacceptable. What happened to @ashnoorkaur today was wrong and needs to be called out. Respect and kindness should be the bare minimum. Shame on you, @iam_kunickaasadanand, @neelamgiri_ and @tanyamittalofficial,” his post read.

The incident has thrown a spotlight on the larger issues of respect and dignity within reality television, especially on a show as popular as Bigg Boss. The platform often thrives on tension and spectacle, but many viewers felt that this episode crossed into harmful territory. Complaints poured in, not just about the specific comments, but about the environment that allowed them to go unchecked. Many argued that such remarks affect young contestants psychologically and set a poor example for audiences.

Inside the show, it remains unclear whether any internal disciplinary action has been taken by the makers—no statement has emerged yet acknowledging the incident or naming consequences. Viewers are now waiting to see whether Weekend Ka Vaar (the show’s weekly highlight) will address this controversy and hold contestants accountable. The silence, for many, is as telling as the comments themselves.

For Ashnoor, the support from Jannat and others may serve as a morale-boost in what is clearly a challenging moment. At just 21, she has already been part of the TV industry for years and is now dealing with national scrutiny of a deeply personal nature. Her poise during the incident and subsequent reactions suggest she is determined not to let the situation define her.

The broader takeaway is two-fold: one, the responsibility for creating a respectful environment on reality shows lies not just with contestants but with production teams and broadcasters; two, public figures like Jannat Zubair entering the conversation lend weight to the demand for better standards. By speaking up, she shifted part of the spotlight away from the drama of the show and onto the behaviour being displayed.

As the episode continues to ripple through online communities, one message stands out: body-shaming is not entertainment. It’s personal. It’s hurtful. And its appearance—even under the guise of reality TV banter—deserves scrutiny. Jannat Zubair’s intervention may not change everything overnight, but it underlines that there is a boundary—even in the most chaotic of TV realities, dignity must be preserved.

‘It’s far more complex..’: Deepika Padukone’s old take on infidelity goes viral amid Twinkle Khanna-Kajol’s Two Much row

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

The internet’s got a new bone to chew on with the latest episode of Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s celebrity talk show, Two Much . What began as a playful conversation quickly turned into controversy after the stars debated emotional versus physical cheating. The episode, which featured Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor alongside the hosts, has since sparked heated discussions online about modern relationships and moral boundaries.

Deepika Padukone; Karan Johar, Kajol and Twinkle Khanna on Two Much

What happened?

During a This or That segment, Twinkle asked whether love or compatibility mattered more in a marriage. While she and Janhvi argued in favour of love, Kajol firmly disagreed, insisting that no relationship could survive without compatibility. But the chat took a divisive turn when the topic shifted to infidelity.

When Twinkle posed whether emotional cheating was worse than physical, Janhvi was clear that both were unacceptable and that physical infidelity would be a deal breaker. Twinkle, however, playfully dismissed the idea, saying, “Raat gayi baat gayi.” Kajol and Karan seemed to echo her sentiment, hinting at a more forgiving approach toward physical betrayal.

“It’s far more complex than just..”

As social media users dissected the conversation, an old video of Deepika Padukone began circulating. In the Curly Tales roundtable, the actor revealed her take on cheating. In the old clip, she said, “A lot of times people make the choices that they do for various reasons and I think that we’re conditioned to think that infidelity is sort of a sin. But for example, if you were to put yourself in the shoes of a therapist or a counsellor and you have to actually understand why that person did what they did…I think you start looking at it very differently. Now this is not to say that I’m okay with it or I’m not okay with it. I’m just saying that it’s far more complex than just saying that I’m okay with it or not. There’s just far too many factors that come into play when it comes to this.”

While Deepika’s words were shared years ago, the timing of the resurfaced clip has reignited debate online, with netizens weighing in on the morality and modern perception of infidelity. One user wrote, “How hard is it to say cheating is bad? It is not right. It should be a deal breaker, but for some, it is not. That’s it.” Another commented, “In an industry where they are always surrounded by attractive people, they have tried to normalise this behaviour; and have started keeping emotional commitment at a pedestal. But I feel until n unless its an open marriage, no kind of cheating should be tried to justified.” A third added, “I think celebs say cheating is complicated because their lives are so public and messy — constant travel, attention, pressure, and temptation. But honestly, it’s not that complicated. If you respect your partner, you don’t cheat. The fame just gives them more excuses.”

As social media continues to debate what defines loyalty and forgiveness, Deepika’s resurfaced take has added another layer to the ongoing conversation. What do you think about this?

Did ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion Tom Devlin Make It Four in a Row?

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

What To Know

  • Tom Devlin, a three-day Jeopardy! champion with $73,199 in winnings, competed for his fourth consecutive win against Shaan Mishra and Kristina Pohribnij.
  • Despite leading throughout most of the game and making bold wagers on Daily Doubles, Mishra and Pohribnij each held their own against the champ.
  • The Final Jeopardy was a nail-biter as it was anyone’s game.

Would returning Jeopardy! champion Tom Devlin, an attorney from Washington, D.C., keep his hot streak alive for a fourth straight game? Ahead of Friday’s (October 24) new game, he’d racked up an impressive three-day total of $73,199 in winnings, but Friday’s cutthroat game stood to put his reign to the test. If he won, Devlin only needed one more to make it to the Tournament of Champions.

In the game, Devlin went up against management consultant Shaan Mishra from Carmel, Indiana, and stay-at-home mom Kristina Pohribnij from Palatine, Illinois, both determined to dethrone the reigning Jeopardy! champ.

Devlin began the first round by picking “The National Toy Hall of Fame” for $800, which yielded the clue: “Josefina Montoya & Addy Walker are part of the historical characters series of these dolls inducted in 2021.” Pohribnij buzzed in with the correct answer, “What are the American Girl dolls?”

The round’s Daily Double was discovered by Devlin in “Movie Last Lines” for $1,600. Wagering $1,600 on the clue “1987: ‘Grandpa? Maybe you could come over & read it again to me tomorrow’; ‘As you wish,’” Devlin answered correctly with “What is The Princess Bride?,” doubling his score to $3,200.

Before the first ad break, Devlin was in the lead with $7,400, while Pohribnij came in second with $2,600 and Mishra in third place with $600. By the end of the round, Devlin maintained his lead with a total of $9,000, as Pohribnij earned $4,400 and Mishra nabbed $2,600.

In Double Jeopardy, the first Daily Double was discovered by Devlin under “Acronyms” for $1,000. Devil wagered a hefty $5,000 on the answer, “What is ANZAC?,” lifting him to $16,000.

The third Daily Double of the game was found by Mishra under “You “SC” & You “CLA” for $2,000. He bet $5,000 on the clue: “If you don’t fire ’til you see the whites of their eyes, you’re waiting to see this, which covers 5/6 of the eyeball.” With the correct answer of “What is the sclera?” bringing with total to $5,800.

During Double Jeopardy, Devlin answered nine clues correctly, but Pohribnij and Mishra gave him a run for his money, holding their own with several strong responses. By the end of the round, however, it still wasn’t enough to overtake the reigning Jeopardy! champ, as they entered Final Jeopardy with totals of $22,800 for Devlin, $15,600 for Mishra — which moved him to second place — and $10,800 for Pohribnij.

The Final Jeopardy category was “Relics,” with the clue “Missionary William Ellis reported in 1825 that his ‘bones were preserved…& were considered sacred by the people’ of Hawaii.” The answer was “Who was Captain James Cook?” Pohribnij answered incorrectly with “Who is Father Damien?,” to which host Ken Jennings responded, “That makes sense, but I’m afraid it’s not Father Damien, Kristina.” She wagered $5,000, bringing her total to $5,800.

Devlin also incorrectly wrote, “Who is Father Damien?” With his wager of $8,401, his new total was then $14,399, losing the lead. But will he lose the game to Mishra?

Mishra wrote, “Who is Cook???,” the correct answer. With a wager of $0, Mishra kept his total at $15,600, enough to steal the title of “Jeopardy! champ” from Devlin as he won the game.

These £960 Loafers From The Row Will Be Their Next Bestseller

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

If money were no object, I’d have a closet that rivals The Row’s Mayfair boutique, complete with a James Turrell light fixture, mid-century modern furniture and the latest designs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have to offer. While that’s a dream that’s far from becoming a reality, I’ll happily resort to living vicariously through those who have the means to do so.

Indeed, there’s not much these chic dressers couldn’t convince me on when it comes to the luxuriate’s specific strain of opulent minimalism and irreverent signatures. But, I’ll be the first to admit that there was one silhouette that took a little more persuasion than others. No, it’s not the grosgrain ribbon and rubber Dune flip-flops, ‘80s-inspired turquoise Mara jelly sandals or the orange embossed medallion print towel designed to be layered over boxy blazers and pristine white T-shirts. (Unfortunately, they all remain on my wish list and would happily own them in a heartbeat.)

Instead, it’s The Row’s Canal loafers that required further meditation. With a deconstructed shape, rounded toe and raised stitching that ridges the top of the calfskin shoe, I initially wrote them off as a slightly grandpa-ish style that wouldn’t be as flattering as the more popular Eel loafers. Oh, how wrong I was.

The Row’s canal loafers, as pictured in the brand’s Spring 2023 collection.

You see, this week alone I’ve come across so many fashion insiders sporting them, which has led me to a profound change in heart. From elegant New Yorkers who have picked up pairs as part of their sample sale hauls to refined Londoners wearing them with delicious funnel-neck jackets and sophisticated jeans, these trending loafers are everywhere I look.

The most influential moment, however, came earlier in the month when Kendall Jenner stepped out in a pair during Paris Fashion Week. The French capital is always such a well of fashion inspiration, and her look certainly cajoled me into lusting after the Canal loafers. Her ensemble was nothing short of a walking billboard for the brand, with the supermodel wearing both a grey pencil skirt and tailored trench coat from The Row. (She completed it with a sumptuous triangle scarf from Almina Concept.)

Of course, to eagle-eyed celebrity street style adherents like me, you’ll know that this isn’t the only time she’s worn them, either. In fact, the supermodel and mogul even donned them to attend The Row’s spring/summer 2023 runway show, which took place in the City of Lights a few years prior. For that outing, she teamed her Canal loafers with a similar outfit consisting of a calf-grazing skirt and a cropped double-breasted shirt-jacket.
