Jared Padalecki & Anna Fricke’s Texas Medical Drama Gets Development Room Order At CBS

written by jummy84

Walker star/executive producer Jared Padalecki‘s re-teaming with the CW series’ executive producer/showrunner Anna Fricke is advancing at CBS. The network has given a development room order to the untitled medical drama.

The project, from CBS Studios where Fricke is under an overall deal and Padalecki has a first-look pact, was set up at CBS for development in January.

That is not typically a broadcast buying window but since switching to long-term, year-round development two years ago, CBS has been leaning heaving into off-cycle orders after a lengthy development process that sometimes includes writers rooms.

CBS recently gave a series order to Robert and Michelle King’s legal drama Cupertino starring Mike Colter, which also went through a writers room order after initially being put in development in summer 2024. The network’s current medical drama Watson also followed the development room model.

Stocking up on classic TV drama genres, Cupertino will join CBS’ hit legal drama Matlcok, with the Fricke/Padalecki project looking to join Watson. The network has several entries in the cop (and adjacent) field, most recently hot freshmen Boston Blue and Sheriff Country.

Like Walker, the untitled Fricke/Padalecki project is set in Padalecki’s home state of Texas. Unlike most medical dramas, which take place at big, urban hospitals, it spotlights rural medicine, which is rarely seen on TV. It centers on a headstrong, devoted doctor (Padalecki) who practices his unique style of improvisational medicine alongside his new protégé, a young doctor escaping her past, as they operate a mobile clinic and heal the bodies and souls of their underserved community in the medical desert of rural Texas.

Fricke and Laura Terry executive produce through Fricke’s Pursued by a Bear alongside Padalecki. Genevieve Padalecki also is producing; Padalecki’s former manager Dan Spilo is no longer involved. It is unclear yet whether the project would target the 2026-27 or 2027-28 season.

Padalecki recently recurred on CBS/CBS Studios’ Fire Country with a possibility to spin off his character into a separate series. There has been no movement on that idea, and there have been no plans for the Supernatural alum to return to Fire Country this season.

In addition to headlining and executive producing CW/CBS Studios’ Walker, Padalecki also executive produced the prequel series Walker: Independence, working on both with Fricke who developed the former and co-developed the latter in addition to her services as executive producer on both and showrunner on Walker.

Fricke’s series credits also include 4400, Valor and Wayward Pines.

‘Boondocks’ Creator Aaron McGruder Joins ‘Last Friday’ Writers Room

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

In an exciting turn for fans of the Friday film franchise, legendary cartoonist and writer Aaron McGruder has joined the writers’ room for the long-rumored final installment of the series, tentatively titled Last Friday.

Actor and comedian Mike Epps, who has featured in the franchise’s previous entries, revealed the news during his recent interview with Big Boy.

“I just was with Ice Cube, DJ Pooh, and Aaron McGruder, sitting in the room writing this movie,” Epps said of the addition of McGruder, creator of the cult-savvy comic strip and subsequent animated series The Boondocks. “We’re writing it right now, and it’s gonna be crazy.”

Epps further noted that the occasion was the first time that all of the writers of the film were in a room together to trade ideas about the script. “This is the first time we all got together,” the Indiana native said while providing the latest update regarding Last Friday.

McGruder’s arrival is significant: his groundbreaking work began with The Boondocks comic strip—debuting in the student newspaper of the University of Maryland and later syndicated nationwide—then evolved into a sharp, socially conscious animated series for Adult Swim.

Known for its biting commentary on race, politics, and culture, The Boondocks earned a dedicated and critically appreciative fan base. McGruder’s unique voice and fearless satire have long earned him a reputation for mixing humour with provocative reflection.

At the same time, the Friday series’ lead—Ice Cube—has been waging a protracted battle in the background.

Although the original film premiered in 1995 and spawned sequels Next Friday (2000) and Friday After Next (2002), Cube has repeatedly lamented that he cannot bring the new movie to fruition because the studio currently holding the rights, Warner Bros. (via New Line Cinema), continues to stall.

“I don’t know. Warner Bros is weird right now… They don’t know what they’re doing. We’d love to have it back,” Cube said in a 2022 podcast appearance, adding bluntly: “I ain’t putting sh*t up for it. F**k no. They need to give it to me.”

He also revealed that two scripts for Last Friday had been submitted and rejected, further fueling speculation that the project was mired in development limbo. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the film is moving forward under the production of Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.

With Aaron McGruder now at the table alongside Cube, DJ Pooh and Mike Epps, the new draft for the film appears to be gaining fresh momentum. Epps also took a moment to honour Cube’s legacy.
“Shouts out to Ice Cube, the Don Mega,” the comic said while saluting his longtime co-star.

“I always give Ice Cube his props, man, because not only did he walk me in the business, but he walked a lot of young brothers and sisters in the business.”

In short: a landmark cultural creator is stepping into a landmark franchise at a crucial juncture — and if this latest writers’ room has its way, fans of both The Boondocks and Friday might finally get the chapter they’ve awaited.

Shah Rukh Khan On Fans Asking For ‘Room At Mannat’: ‘I’m Living On Rent’

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

In a moment that captures why Shah Rukh Khan remains unmatched when it comes to fan-engagement and self-deprecating humour, the Bollywood superstar responded brilliantly to a fan’s bold request during a live #AskSRK session on X. With his 60th birthday approaching and the iconic Bandra bungalow Mannat undergoing renovation, Khan’s tongue-in-cheek reply has become one of the most-shared celebrity moments of the week.

The interaction unfolded as Shah Rukh settled in for a live chat with fans, marking the countdown to his birthday. Among the flood of affectionate questions, one fan wrote: “Sir, we’ve come to Mumbai for your birthday but can’t find a room—will there be a room for us at Mannat?” Without missing a beat, Khan answered: “Mannat mein toh mere paas bhi room nahi hai aaj kal… bhaade pe reh ra hoon!” (Even I don’t have a room in Mannat these days… I’m living on rent!).

The quip was instantly greeted with physical laughter from viewers and virtually echoed across social media. Fans began posting cheeky follow-up questions about SRK’s “rent” at Mannat, tagging landlords and estimating the monthly dues. The light-hearted banter captured the actor at his most accessible—charismatic, witty and grounded.

Beyond the ensemble of jokes, the comment also reveals a condition viewers rarely see: despite the luxury of “Mannat,” SRK has temporarily shifted residence while the mansion undergoes extensive upgrading. Reports indicate he and his family moved into a nearby luxury apartment complex in Khar after March this year. The disclosure adds an intriguing layer to the moment—this wasn’t just a joke; it was a gentle reveal.

What makes the exchange particularly resonant is how it threads together multiple strands: the fan-idol dynamic, the mystique of Mannat, and the superstar’s ability to turn a playful insult into a public moment of warmth. In a culture where celebrity residences are often fetishised and privatised, SRK’s quip flipped the narrative—turning the icon’s gargantuan home into a shared joke with his audience.

This moment also stands out in contrast with how such interactions usually play out in Bollywood. Many stars avoid personal disclosures; few engage with unsolicited fan requests so spontaneously. SRK’s approach here felt transparent and genuine. Rather than deflect, he made fun of his own status, making the fan’s dream of staying at Mannat a shared gag instead of a distant fantasy.

Analysts believe the moment is especially significant at this juncture of his career. With his 60th birthday slated for November 2 and a special film-festival retrospective being hosted at over 75 cinemas nationwide, the actor is in a celebratory but introspective phase. His timing couldn’t be better—he offered fans a peak behind the curtain while reinforcing his enduring rapport with them.

In the end, the meme loop has already begun. Clips of the response were reshared with captions like “When SRK becomes your landlord” and “Even King Khan needs a hostel bed”. The response captures a cultural moment where celebrity and fandom blur into communal amusement. And amid it all, Shah Rukh comes off less like a superstar, more like the smartest person in the room—crisp, quick-witted, and ready to laugh at himself along with you.

In the world of Bollywood, where PR glosses and staged interactions dominate, this answer felt refreshingly real. And perhaps that’s the real power behind the quip: a reminder that for all his stardom, Shah Rukh Khan is still smiling with you.

NBA YoungBoy Concert Shuts Down Miami Heat Locker Room For Third Time

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

So picture this: The NBA YoungBoy—yes, the rapper famous not just for his music but also for one of the rowdiest, most plug-in-your-nose fan-bases in the game—is coming through town and turning your arena into part concert, part endurance test.

His fans show up amped, things get loud, there’s rampant marijuana and other substances floating like confetti, and the entire place transforms into a full-on party. The next morning? The venue hands over its keys to the professional team that calls the arena home and says, “Good luck.”

More than once this season, the Heat have found themselves playing in an arena the night after a YoungBoy show, with varying results.

Simone Fontecchio #0 of the Miami Heat reacts with teammates Davion Mitchell #45 of the Miami Heat and Norman Powell #24 of the Miami Heat against the New York Knicks during the first half at Kaseya Center on October 26, 2025 in Miami, Florida. On Oct. 11 he performed in Orlando at the Kia Center; the next day the Heat took on the Magic in Orlando and lost by double digits. Then on Oct. 26 he performed in Charlotte; two days later the Heat played the Hornets at the Spectrum Center and beat them 144-117 (so maybe they got their mojo back).

And most recently on Wednesday (Oct. 29), he performed in San Antonio; the Heat now play the Spurs at Frost Bank Arena tonight Oct. 30.

Beat reporter Ira Winderman captured this curious pattern with biting clarity. “For the third time this season, the Heat are playing in an arena the night after an NBA Youngboy concert. And it smells the same as the first two. Locker rooms literally are closed here in San Antonio with signs that they are being disinfected.”

That’s right—“smells the same,” and “locker rooms literally are closed … with signs that they are being disinfected.” Cue the hazmat suits.

In short, what’s happening is this: when an arena hosts a YoungBoy crowd, there’s a lingering scent of chaos (and marijuana-tinged air), a level of post-party residue that apparently requires disinfecting, and a visiting team that has to walk into that same space for serious business.

It’s like showing up for Sunday brunch at a house that hosted a rave all night. Your head hurts, your socks are sticky, and you’re supposed to be focused on winning a championship.

If you’re part of the Heat — or any pro sports team in an arena that doubles as a major concert venue — you might want to ask: should we treat the next morning like a road game with hangover conditions? Because clearly the YoungBoy effect doesn’t just fade by tip-off.

By the way, YoungBoy is currently on the road as part of his Make America Slime Again Tour, and tonight (Oct. 30) he stops in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center. So if you’re a team scheduled to play there tomorrow, bring your nose plugs and maybe a disinfectant spray just in case.

bitchy | Donald Trump ripped out the White House’s East Wing to make room for his ballroom

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

This year has been full of so many castrophically evil stories, almost all of which are happening because of Donald Trump and his fascist minions. It feels weird to complain about issues which are somewhat superficial, but I still find this stuff extremely depressing. Trump already paved over the White House Rose Garden, turning it into an outdoor dining pavilion similar to something you would find outside of a mall food court. But Trump’s biggest change to the White House is the destruction of the East Wing, all to build a massive “ballroom” on the White House complex. Well, Trump announced the ballroom plans months ago, and they broke ground on Monday.

President Donald Trump has begun demolishing the traditional work space of First Lady Melania Trump and her staff to make way for his “big, beautiful” ballroom. Two months after unveiling plans to build the 90,000-square foot ballroom, construction crews have begun tearing down the covered entrance of the East Wing, with cranes and backhoes attacking window frames and knocking away parts of the exterior cladding. Dramatic photos and videos revealed the first stage of the transformation on Monday, showing windows of the historic building smashed and ripped off their hinges.

The new ballroom is being built in the East Wing, which has long housed the offices for the first lady, whose staff have been temporarily relocated to other parts of the White House complex. The Daily Beast has reached out for confirmation as to where they are currently working from.

The former upper floor of White House calligraphy office now has a massive hole, while trees and shrubs have also been cleared from the White House South Lawn to make way for construction.

Trump acknowledged the project at an event in the East Room on Monday afternoon honoring the Louisiana State University baseball teams, telling his guests: “right on the other side, you have a lot of construction going on.”

He later posted on Truth Social declaring that “ground has been broken on the White House grounds to build the new, big, beautiful White House Ballroom. Completely separate from the White House itself, the East Wing is being fully modernized as part of this process, and will be more beautiful than ever when it is complete! For more than 150 years, every President has dreamt about having a Ballroom at the White House to accommodate people for grand parties, State Visits, etc. I am honored to be the first President to finally get this much-needed project underway — with zero cost to the American Taxpayer!”

However, critics have noted that the ballroom, which is expected to cost at least $250 million, is being built at a time when many Americans are still struggling with cost-of-living pressures – something that Trump promised to fix.

[From The Daily Beast]

What I keep thinking about is the history, and how presidents for the past century have been so conscious of the unique history of the White House, and they see themselves as caretakers to the historic property, if nothing else. Sure, some of them made smaller renovations – I remember President Obama talking about how Harry Truman added a private balcony on the top floor, and it was one of Obama’s favorite spots. But none of them would have ripped out the East Wing and built a gaudy, tacky f–king ballroom. Even Trump’s hero Richard Nixon was in awe of the White House’s history and he took pains to never damage or disrupt the actual structure and the museum-quality pieces around the house.

Bigg Boss 19 looks good and fresh, say fans after BB replaces ‘cringe anthems’ with morning songs, unveils secret room

by jummy84 August 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Bigg Boss is one of the most popular reality shows on Indian television, with fans eagerly awaiting each new season for its dose of drama and entertainment. Over the past two seasons, however, viewers voiced concerns about the show losing its spark. Now, with season 19, it seems the makers have taken that feedback seriously. Just one episode in, fans are already praising the season for feeling fresh, exciting, and true to the Bigg Boss essence once again.

Salman Khan returns as host for Bigg Boss 19.

Fans review Bigg Boss 19’s first episode

One of the biggest changes from the past two seasons is that season 19 doesn’t have the so-called “cringe anthems” played to wake up the contestants. Instead, it has returned to Bollywood songs, just like in the earlier seasons. A Reddit user shared a screenshot of Bigg Boss contestants dancing to Dhating Naach from Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and wrote, “Finally no more cringe anthem this year in Bigg Boss.”

Fans also shared their views on the first episode of Bigg Boss. One wrote, “Song + secret room! Finally BB19 on a good start.” Another commented, “This season looks good and fresh.” A third comment read, “Bigg Boss ka redemption era is going on or what.” One fan added, “Looks like they finally got the budget to buy song licences vs the stupid anthem.” Another praised the casting and wrote, “BB has clearly opened a personality buffet this szn. No pre-made fds, just raw start!”

In the previous seasons, fans accused Bigg Boss of being biased towards contestants and even criticised it for interfering in their decisions. However, this year, Bigg Boss has chosen to stay out of the decision-making process, which aligns with the theme “Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar”—handing over the power to the housemates themselves.

About Bigg Boss 19

On the very first day, Bigg Boss asked contestants to choose a person they felt was unworthy of being a housemate due to having the least interesting personality. The majority named Farhana Bhatt, and Bigg Boss announced that her journey had ended. However, in a twist, she was moved into a secret room, where she will monitor the contestants 24/7 and even play a role in decision-making.

This season stars 16 contestants, including Awez Darbar, Kunickaa Sadanand, Baseer Ali, Ashnoor Kaur, Gaurav Khanna, Pranit More, Tanya Mittal, Amaal Mallik, Nagma Mirajkar, international performer Natalia Janoszek, Mridul Tiwari and Abhishek Bajaj, among others. Salman Khan will once again host Weekend Ka Vaar. The show is available to watch on JioCinema and Colors TV.
