New Report Reveals Trust, ROI, and AI as Defining Issues for the Global Awards Industry in 2025

by jummy84 November 25, 2025
written by jummy84

A new industry study, The Business of Awards: 2025 Industry Insight, reveals that while the global awards sector remains a multi-billion-pound powerhouse, it faces mounting challenges around credibility, return on investment (ROI), and the disruptive role of artificial intelligence (AI).

The report — based on a cross-stakeholder survey of awards organisers, sponsors, entrants, and judges, alongside interviews with leaders from Epica, Arc Europe, the PPA, Arena International, and more — highlights that fewer than half of stakeholders believe judging processes are transparent. Nearly a fifth go further, describing them as opaque.

“Trust is the currency of awards. Without transparent judging and clear separation of sponsorship from results, the commercial model risks collapse,” said Mark Tungate, Editorial Director of the Epica Awards.

Other key findings include:

  • Credibility under scrutiny – Less than half of stakeholders rate judging as transparent; scams and “pay-to-play” perceptions are widespread.
  • ROI pressure – Sponsors cite brand visibility and networking as top objectives, but demand measurable outcomes “beyond the night.”
  • Formats in flux – Almost two-thirds of stakeholders favour in-person awards, with hybrid models a strong secondary preference.
  • AI disruption – Judges are already encountering formulaic, AI-generated entries, raising urgent questions about authenticity.
  • Future growth – Year-round engagement, lifecycle analytics, and international expansion are identified as key opportunities.

“The awards industry is resilient, but long-term success will depend on credibility and proof of value,” said Ben Flight, Arena International. “Sponsors increasingly demand evidence that their investment delivers impact.”

The 50-page report combines survey data with expert commentary from:

  • Mark Tungate (Epica Awards)
  • Sophie Eke (Arc Europe)
  • Sarah Austin (British Business Excellence Awards)
  • Melissa Irving (emap)
  • Hannah Bray (PPA)
  • Helen Wilson (Haymarket Media Group)
  • Paul Schnell (Evessio)
  • Simon Burton (Power 100)
  • Donna O’Toole (August Recognition)

Adam Parry, Co-Founder of Event Industry News and lead editor of the report, said:

“Awards remain a vital part of the events economy — but credibility, innovation, and ROI are now non-negotiable. Our research provides organisers, sponsors, and entrants with a roadmap to navigate the next decade of recognition.”

Can Inside Out Redefine ROI for Sustainable Fashion Businesses?

In March, social entrepreneur Suzy Amis Cameron (whose husband is filmmaker James Cameron) launched a holding company with bold ambitions in fashion and beyond.

Co-signed by entrepreneur Erik Stangvik and former Deloitte partner Blair Knippel, Inside Out was positioned as a “wayfinding collective” designed to deliver “revolutionary solutions to the world’s most urgent challenges”. Its mission spreads across six key verticals: science research technology, fashion textiles home, food, education, media, and wellness.

Just over six months in, the fashion textiles home vertical — helmed by Vogue Business 100 Innovator and longtime sustainability consultant Matteo Ward — has already made two acquisitions: Wråd, the consulting studio Ward founded; and Sheep Inc., a UK-based wool brand focused on traceability. On Thursday, Inside Out unveiled the latest project: organic children’s and womenswear brand The Simple Folk.

To mark the occasion, Ward and Amis Cameron outline their shared vision for Inside Out, and how they plan to turn their blue-sky ambitions into reality.

Vogue: Why did you create Inside Out and what do you hope it will achieve?

Suzy: For years I’d been working across education, fashion and food, but these worlds were operating in silos. I wanted to bring them under one ecosystem that could align business agendas and the urgent needs of the planet. Inside Out was born from a simple realization. If we want lasting change, we have to redesign the systems that shape our daily lives, from the clothes we wear to the food we eat, the stories we tell and the way we nurture our families. Our objective is to improve the well-being of the world for generations we will never meet.

Vogue: You’re operating across sectors, but how does Inside Out plan to create sustainable change in the fashion industry specifically?

Matteo: Every day, we walk into work aware of the fact that nobody needs another pair of jeans or another T-shirt, but we all need better brands and better systems built around them, to fashion better habits and better habitats.

It’s beyond materials — it’s about redefining the role of the fashion industry itself. At the highest level, preserving the industry’s legitimacy and relevance. At the brand level, preserving their competitiveness and resilience. If we extract essential resources for life to make clothes, the bare minimum is to ask ourselves: what for? What can brands do for their communities? What’s the transformative promise of our projects?

Event Footprints introduces the EF Data Hub to unify complex attendee data and demonstrate event ROI

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Event Footprints has today announced the launch of its EF Data Hub platform, built off the Snowflake cloud data warehousing platform for optimum data security and compliance, it is designed for corporate marketers, event owners and event agencies that opt for best-in-class or have a fragmented event tech stack.

This solution addresses a core industry challenge by transforming complex, multi-source data into clear, impactful and actionable data to support event operations, ensuring a smooth data flow between platforms and allowing marketing teams to measure impact.

Two services powered by the EF Data Hub at launch include the company’s Integration Services and Event Stride – Dashboarding service, which provides a single data view across multiple platforms.

The integration services connect all client event technologies, from registration and event apps to lead scanning (and also martech and CRM systems as required), to extract data. This data is then centralised, cleaned, and organised into the EF Data Hub, a single, reliable source of truth for all event metrics. This year, whilst in beta, the platform has powered some of the world’s largest corporate events and has been used to transform, cleanse and integrate data from core industry platforms such as Cvent, Rainfocus, Bizzabo and Swoogo.

The Event Stride methodology and visualisations (built using Tableau) are the crucial final step, providing the front-end dashboards that make the unified data in the Hub immediately understandable across the whole event lifecycle. It enables event professionals to view, analyse, and present a complete picture of their event, demonstrating clear ROE and ROI to stakeholders or clients in real-time, with the dynamic filters that are custom to their business, and a supporting narrative provides confidence when discussing event impact with the C-Suite.

“Corporate event teams and agencies often struggle to get a complete picture of their events because their data is siloed,” said Rob Curtis, founder of Event Footprints. “Our Integration Services do the heavy lifting to connect to every platform, and our EF Data Hub creates that single source of truth. The Event Stride methodology and visualisations are the final, essential piece; it makes that unified data presentable, allowing planners to clearly and confidently demonstrate event success.”

The entire process is delivered as a fully managed service, meaning no technical work is required from the client; all data handling meets strict governance and compliance requirements.

“Our goal is to give planners clarity and confidence,” added Curtis. “This combination of products allows them to move from simply collecting data to actively using it to prove success through a clear and repeatable methodology.”

“We are building a foundational data platform that can power data-led events and allows us to expand our capabilities into AI-led solutions as we head into 2026, utilising agentic AI built into the Snowflake platform,” he concluded.
