White Stripes Celebrated by Olivia Rodrigo, Iggy Pop at Rock Hall

It’s official: The White Stripes are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The induction took place on Saturday in Los Angeles, with Jack and Meg White honored for their indelible, decade-long mark on music.

As expected, Meg did not attend the ceremony — she has completely left the music industry and public life in general since the White Stripes broke up in 2011 — but thankfully a handful of artists were on hand to help fill the void left by the essential artist, one of Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time.

Olivia Rodrigo and Feist teamed up for a rendition of the White Blood Cells classic “We’re Going to Be Friends,” while Twenty One Pilots, themselves a guitar-drums duo like the White Stripes, delivered a rendition of the ultimate stadium rocker “Seven Nation Army.”

The White Stripes were inducted into the Rock Hall by fellow Motor City rock icon Iggy Pop, who took the stage and led the crowd through a chant of “Seven Nation Army.” He held his speech in his hands and joked, “Let me see if I can read this shit.”

Pop described the duo as “a 21st century Adam and Eve, who had started a rock & roll band,” and praised Meg’s drumming ability, saying it was her support that launched “the rocket of racket that was Jack White.”

Next, Jack himself took the podium for his induction speech, thanking “Uncle Iggy.” Standing in a red suit and white tie, he revealed that he’d been talking to Meg about being honored, and that Meg made “punctuation and corrections” to his speech. “I spoke with Meg White the other day; she said she’s very sorry she couldn’t make it tonight, but she’s very grateful for the folks who have supported her throughout all the years, it really means a lot to her tonight,” he said.

Jack thanked the White Stripes’ musical heroes, and also named other iconic duos in pop culture: Leiber and Stoller, Siegel and Shuster, and Abbott and Costello. “I myself have been in a lot of bands that you’ve probably never heard of,” he said. “But for some reason, people especially connected with this one two-piece duo project that I was in called the White Stripes. We don’t know why these things happen, but when they do, it’s the most beautiful thing you can have as an artist or musician when people are responding and sharing with you.”

“To young artists, I want to say, get your hands dirty and drop the screens and get out in your garage or your little room and get obsessed,” he added. “Get obsessed with something, get passionate. We all want to share in what you might create.”

Rodrigo, who was born just two months before the White Stripes released Elephant since April 2003, has long praised the group, saying she grew up listening to the album and especially “The Hardest Button to Button.”

“Meg’s drums really shine on that one, and from there I dove into all their other incredible albums and became a massive fan,” Rodrigo told Elle in 2023. “Meg’s drumming and the White Stripes in general [provided] a huge lesson to me on the value of simplicity in music. They taught me that a truly great song doesn’t need to have crazy production or layers of sound. It just needs to move you.”

Olivia Rodrigo Slams ICE Using Song for ‘Racist, Hateful Propaganda’

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Olivia Rodrigo is making it clear that she is not happy with the Trump administration (and his Department of Homeland Security) using her music to promote their policies. On Friday, the pop singer slammed the White House and DHS for posting a video about self-deportation using one of her songs.

A video posted to Instagram on Tuesday opened with the chaotic, rock part of her Guts favorite “All-American Bitch” showing clips of ICE agents detaining undocumented immigrants with the caption “If ICE finds you,” and then undocumented immigrants seemingly choosing to self-deport with the softer, more peaceful part of the song that follows.

“LEAVE NOW and self-deport using the CBP Home app,” read the DHS post’s caption. “If you don’t, you will face the consequences.”

In a comment that has since been deleted (although it’s unclear if by Rodrigo or DHS), Rodrigo wrote, “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.” Since its deletion, fans of Rodrigo have been copy/pasting her original message to remind viewers of Rodrigo’s take.

In response to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment on the matter, a DHS spokesperson said, “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Rodrigo thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”

Rodrigo has been a loud voice against Trump’s policies and racist approach to immigration enforcement. When ICE started targeting Angelenos in mass raids back in June, Rodrigo shared an Instagram story condemning deportations.

“I’ve lived in L.A. my whole life and I’m deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration,” Rodrigo wrote. “L.A. simply wouldn’t exist without immigrants. Treating hardworking community members with such little respect, empathy, and due process is awful.”

She continued: “I stand with the beautiful, diverse community of Los Angeles and with immigrants all across America. I stand for our right to freedom of speech and freedom to protest.”

A rep for Rodrigo did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for additional comment.

Olivia Rodrigo closed out her blockbuster Guts World Tour with a secret show in New York City on Thursday night (Oct. 23), playing to an intimate crowd of fans, friends, and celebrity guests inside the historic Park Avenue Armory.

The invite-only event, hosted by American Express, featured a setlist packed with fan favorites — including “Drivers License,” “Vampire,” “Deja Vu” and “Sour” — as well as the rare live performance of “Lacy,” a track that has taken on a viral life of its own since being featured on the TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty.

“Ever since it was in that show, people have been chanting at me at concerts to sing this song if I wasn’t going to sing it,” Rodrigo told the crowd. “And so I’m really grateful to that show, and I’m really grateful to you guys for listening to this song and streaming it, because it’s always been one of my favorites.”

The “Good 4 U” singer also welcomed young fans from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, meeting with several attendees before the show. Proceeds from ticket sales benefited Rodrigo’s own Fund 4 Good, an initiative launched to support education, reproductive rights, and young women’s leadership programs.

Among those in attendance were Emily in Paris star Ashley Park, The Bear’s Molly Gordon, Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev, makeup artist Patrick Ta, Good American founder Emma Grede, and interior designer Jeremiah Brent.

Rodrigo performed beneath the soaring arches of the Armory’s Drill Hall — a venue steeped in New York military history — which once housed the Seventh Regiment of the National Guard, the first volunteer militia to answer Abraham Lincoln’s call in 1861.

The secret concert marked the final stop on Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour, which kicked off earlier this year in Palm Springs and has since spanned over 75 dates across North America and Europe.

Rodrigo has placed 30 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2021 hit “Drivers License” was No. 1 for a whopping eight weeks. In total so far, she has three Hot 100 No. 1s and made headlines for her 2025 Lollapalooza performance, including a set during which she brought out Weezer.

“When it hurts, I come here and scream it out loud.” 🇧🇷 Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a Brazilian film titled The Son of a Thousand Men, based on highly acclaimed Brazilian novel. Ready for streaming in November this fall. A father without a son, a son without a father, and a shared dream. A village of one-of-a-kind encounters that turn into unlikely stories… Starring Rodrigo Santoro and inspired by the best-selling book by Valter Hugo Mãe, this Netflix film The Son of a Thousand Men, made by Daniel Rezende, shares a fable about solitude, love, and acceptance. Crisóstomo, a 40-year-old fisherman, decides to search for what he lacks: a son. Upon meeting Camilo, a 14-year-old boy, he ends up changing the lives of excluded and rejected characters, forming a non-conventional family united by a love for simple things. In addition to Santoro, it also stars Johnny Massaro, Rebeca Jamir, Juliana Caldas, featuring Miguel Martines as Camilo. It was filmed between Búzios, along the coast of Rio de Janeiro, and Chapada Diamantina, in Bahia. This has some absolutely amazing cinematography by DP Azul Serra. I’m hooked – I will be watching this.

This is the first adaptation of Valter Hugo Mãe’s books. The bestselling work follows Crisóstomo (Rodrigo Santoro), a lone fisherman who dreams of one day having a son. His life changes when he meets Camilo (Miguel Martines), an orphan boy whom he decides to foster. Meanwhile, as she tries to escape her own pain, Isaura (Rebeca Jamir) encounters the two of them in the village, with Antonino (Johnny Massaro), a misunderstood young man. Together, the four of them learn about the meaning of family and the purpose of sharing life with others. The Son of a Thousand Men, also titled O Filho de Mil Homens in Portuguese, is written directed by the Brazilian filmmaker Daniel Rezende, director of the films Bingo: The King of the Mornings, Monica and Friends, and also the series “Nobody’s Looking” and “Turma da Mônica” previously. Written in collaboration with Duda Casoni. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Valter Hugo Mae. Produced by Biônica Filmes and Barry Company. Netflix will debut Rezende’s The Son of a Thousand Men film streaming on Netflix worldwide starting November 19th, 2025 this fall. Anyone want to watch this?

Olivia Rodrigo & Louis Partridge’s Relationship From Beginning to Now – Hollywood Life

Olivia Rodrigo looks like she’s found the love of her life — who laughs at all her jokes, and says she’s “so American.” The “Can’t Catch Me Now” singer has been dating English actor Louis Partridge since 2023. Fast forward to 2025, the two have gradually shown their support for one another in the public eye. Keep reading to find out everything we know about their relationship.

Who Is Louis Partridge?

Louis is known for his role as Tewkesbury in Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2. He is a London native and is a few months younger than Olivia.

Before he and Olivia were rumored to be dating, Louis was previously linked to actress Sydney Chandler in 2022. By the end of that year, it appeared that their relationship had fizzled out.

Is Olivia Rodrigo Dating Louis Partridge?

Yes, the “Good 4 U” artist and the English actor first sparked dating rumors in October 2023. The duo was spotted spending time together in London. According to multiple fan-recorded clips and photos, Olivia and Louis were seen walking with their arms around each other.

Later that month, The Sun reported that Olivia was, indeed, dating Louis. An insider told the outlet that the Grammy Award winner “flew to London with her best pal, singer Conan Gray, but it was Louis who she came to see. They met through mutual pals earlier in the year and have been messaging quite a bit.”

The source added that Olivia and Louis had “been [out] for dinners and nights out” and even “hit a club together on Friday night and were acting very coupl-ey. It’s really sweet to see her happy.”

Less than two months later, Louis and Olivia fueled relationship rumors when he was spotted cheering her on at the iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball in New York City. Fans spotted him in the crowd and shared clips of the actor while Olivia brought the house down at Madison Square Garden. Later that week, Olivia performed on Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, and she and Louis were reportedly spotted leaving an afterparty together that evening.

In mid-December, Olivia and Louis indirectly confirmed that they were in a relationship after being photographed making out and enjoying a date in New York City.

During a March 2024 interview with British Vogue, Louis broke his silence on their relationship, while noting that her celebrity status can be overwhelming.

“I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her case,” he explained. “Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye. There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head.”

At the 2025 Grammys, the two attended together and posed for pictures, embracing each other. In September of that year, Louis opened up about their connection while speaking with Esquire UK.

“Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public,” Louis explained. “Obviously, it has been quite a big summer for her with Glastonbury, but there’s a sanctity to being private.”

Who Else Has Olivia Rodrigo Dated?

Before Louis and Olivia began their romance, Olivia was previously linked to Zack Bia, Adam Faze and her most famous ex, Joshua Bassett.

Can Olivia Rodrigo Save the Live Album?

Can Olivia Rodrigo Save the Live Album?

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Last week, Olivia Rodrigo made a surprise announcement about her follow-up to Guts. But instead of another record of new material, Live at Glastonbury (A BBC Recording), to be released in December, will document her entire set at that festival this summer, complete with a cameo by the Robert Smith on covers of two Cure songs.

But here’s the even more startling thing about the announcement: She’s releasing … a live album? In 2025? Who does that anymore? In terms of big-league pop and rock artists, hardly anyone. But maybe it’s time for a comeback for records that lent a you-are-there listening experience and brought out aspects of a band or musician’s work you hadn’t heard in a recording studio.

You do remember live albums, right? If you’re on a certain generation, you may not, since not even Taylor Swift, very attuned to revenue streams, released a full concert album from the Eras Tour. Billie Eilish’s unplugged Live at Third Man Records, back in 2019, was a limited-edition vinyl release, which instantly designated it an underground item. But for decades, the concert LP was a staple of zillions of music-addicted households. No matter what genre you followed, one of them was surely in your record collection. Classic-rock buffs surely had copies of the Rolling Stones’ Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out! or the Who’s Live at Leeds. Soul fans probably owned James Brown’s Live at the Apollo, Otis Redding’s In Person at the Whisky a Go Go or Aretha Franklin’s Amazing Grace gospel foray. Metal fans swear by Deep Purple’s Made in Japan or Metallica’s Live Shit: Binge & Purge. For Southern rock, the Allman Brothers Band’s Live at Fillmore East or Lynyrd Skynyrd’s One More from the Road were must-cranks. And have we mentioned Woodstock? Or Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged?

In its heyday, which lasted a few decades, the live album served several equally valid purposes. In some cases — Cheap Trick’s At Budokan, Kiss’ Alive!, Peter Frampton’s Frampton Comes Alive!, and Bob Seger’s Live Bullet — it became the breakout moment for acts who’d been kicking around for a few years but hadn’t hit the big time. Why not gather all their best songs to date, tape ‘em in front of an excited fanbase, and give em another shot? Live records could also be a way of fulfilling a contractual obligation (too many examples to cite) or a way to mollify fans who were going to have to wait a while for another studio record (Fleetwood Mac’s 1980’s concert record, which bridged the gap between Tusk and Mirage).

Editor’s picks

This century, the live album hasn’t completely expired, but the market has been dominated by vintage material from the faults: the Grateful Dead’s ongoing barrage of rare live material, Bob Dylan box sets from various tours, and so on. Radiohead is finally getting around to releasing concert cuts, but from about 20 years ago. A few modern acts — Dua Lipa, the Weeknd, Florence + the Machine — have rolled out concert records in the last few years. But for all the firepower of their names, none has made the same impact as the classic concert albums of the past. Those records are now asides and ephemera, not events.

The reasons for the collapse of the live album won’t be music to anyone’s ears. Thanks to YouTube (where you can watch or listen to entire shows for free) or sites that allow you to stream or download shows, maybe fans don’t feel they need to shell out dollars for an official release. If we want to be deeply cynical for a moment, perhaps some of them suspect that a certain amount of pre-recorded vocals or instruments are a normal part of the concert experience and assume that a “live” album wouldn’t be all that authentic.

Trending Stories

After all, part of the appeal of the concert albums of yore was hearing what singers or bands would sound like outside the controlled confines of a recording studio. You knew you wouldn’t be hearing note-for-note reproductions of what you’d heard on vinyl or CD, which was part of the thrill and sometimes the dismay. Led Zeppelin, so volcanic on record, came off as disappointingly scraggly on The Song Remains the Same. Dylan & The Dead seemed to bring out the worst in both. (Search out the rehearsal tapes instead.) But who knew that the Roots would take Jay-Z’s music to another level on his MTV Unplugged or that orchestration would impart a new sense of opulence to Dua Lipa’s Live from the Royal Albert Hall last year?

Related Content

For Dua Lipa and now Rodrigo, concert records are a logical extension of their place in the pop firmament. Acts like them, after all, are the ones headlining arenas and festivals the way rock bands once did when they were in their primes. As many of us saw last year on her Guts tour, Rodrigo’s shows were joyfully alive, and with the help of her road band, some of her songs (“All-American Bitch,” for one) sported a spikier, looser energy than the studio versions. Will that translate to her Glastonbury performance heard only in audio? Too soon to tell, but give her props for wading into the concert album waters. After too long a decline, someone needs to make the storied, necessary art of the live album alive again.
