Robyn Roars Back With ‘Dopamine’

Robyn has lifted a seven-year hiatus from new music with the fresh single “Dopamine,” which arrived with little warning today (Nov. 12) from new record label Young. The track was co-written with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund and Taio Cruz, and produced by Robyn and Åhlund.

“Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,” Robyn says. “It’s almost like we don’t even accept that we’re human anymore, like we’re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing — which I think is great, but that’s also why the world is shit — this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body — and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”

An accompanying video for “Dopamine” is also out, starring Robyn and directed by photographer Marili Andre.

Robyn has been quiet on the musical front since 2018’s Honey, which debuted at a career-best No. 40 on the Billboard 200. Since then, she’s made sporadic appearances on projects by Jamie xx, S.G. Lewis and Neneh Cherry, and has also popped up for surprise concert cameos with Gracie Abrams and Charli xcx.

The artist is widely known for her 2010 single “Dancing on My Own,” which has been streamed more than 405 million times on Spotify.

Robyn Shares New Single “Dopamine”: Watch The Video

Robyn has been sending us warning shots suggesting the follow-up to 2018’s Honey is imminent, and now she’s given us what seems to be that new album’s lead single. We don’t know anything yet about the Swedish alt-pop pioneer’s new LP, other than the fact that she’s now releasing her music through Young rather than her own Konichiwa Records. But based on the sound of “Dopamine” — her first new song in seven years — it’s going to be some of her most direct, accessible music in years.

The track, a collaboration with songwriter and producer Klas Åhlund, is pure synth-pop bliss. We’re introduced to layers of percolating keyboards and digitally processed vocals before Robyn’s unvarnished voice comes through, full of passion and longing. “I just need to know that I’m not alone,” she sings. “I know it’s just dopamine, but it feels so real to me.”

Robyn’s statement:

Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies. It’s almost like we don’t even accept that we’re human anymore, like we’re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing – which I think is great, but that’s also why the world is shit, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of Dopamine is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body—and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.

Robyn lets her personality show in director Marili Andre’s “Dopamine” video, which you can watch below.

Robyn Returns With New Song and Video “Dopamine”: Watch

Robyn is back. Her first single in seven years, “Dopamine,” is out now, along with a performance video directed by Marili Andre. Watch it below.

Robyn explained the chemical inspirations behind “Dopamine” in a press release. “Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,” she said. “It’s almost like we don’t even accept that we’re human anymore, like we’re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing—which I think is great, but that’s also why the world is shit, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something. The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body—and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”

Teased for the past several weeks, Robyn’s comeback reunites her with longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund, whose work with the Swedish pop star includes four songs on her last album, 2018’s Honey. Åhlund was the first to tease the new music, saying on the podcast Nordmark Pod, in September, “Just finished a new Robyn album that’s coming out. Super exciting! Very proud of it.”

Since Honey, Robyn has featured on songs by SG Lewis, Sigur Rós’ Jónsi, Smile, Neneh Cherry, and Jamie xx, as well as on the Yung Lean–assisted remix of Charli XCX’s “360” from Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat.

Kody Brown Once Claimed He Never Loved Meri Brown

Love is meant to be multiplied, not subtracted. And yet Kody admitted he did just that with his previous claims that he never loved his ex wives.

“It’s more of like a knee jerk reaction,” he said during the June 15 one-on-one special, insisting he was reeling from them “trashing” him. “I was deep in the throes of reactionary vitriol for the past three years.”

Which is why, he said, he alluded to Meri that he never truly loved her while they were spending their anniversary together.

Recounting the conversation to a pal in a September 2024 episode, Meri insisted she knew he loved her.

But if he didn’t, the mom to Leon Brown said in a confessional, why did he ever propose?

“When a single young man meets a single young woman, why would he choose to marry her and just affirm and force love for her when he didn’t love her?” she wondered. “How cruel is that? To pick me out of a crowd and just be like, ‘I pick you to try to force myself to love for the next 32 years’?”

Kody’s response, he shared in his own confessional: “Oh, Meri has her little accusations now.”

Though, he would share that they never enjoyed a honeymoon period.

“This marriage was on the rocks the entire marriage,” he insisted on the Oct. 20 episode. “And how would I know that? Because I had such a better relationship with Janelle, with Christine, with Robyn.”

But he stayed out of fear, noting, “Leadership will never allow you to marry again if you’re discarding wives.”

Milo Callaghan and Robyn Cara on Rudy and Kelly’s Relationship

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for The Rainmaker Episode 7.]

Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) had to go to court for a different reason than usual in Friday’s (September 26) new episode of The Rainmaker. Rather than heading in for another hearing to prosecute the Donny Ray Black civil case, Rudy came in as a defendant … in a criminal proceeding.

Cliff (Fionn Ó Loingsigh), the abusive husband of Kelly Riker (Robyn Cara), tracked her down to Dot’s (Karen Bryson) house and attacked her in the bathroom. After she ran out into the living room, Cliff was shot and killed, and Rudy took the blame for it to protect Kelly. Bruiser (Lana Parrilla) rushed to Rudy’s bond defense and even put up his bail money and, after discovering the truth of the encounter by visiting the scene, negotiated an end to the case, leaving Rudy free of charges and Kelly bound for a new life all her own.

The culmination of Rudy’s relationship with Kelly hits quite differently in this version, since, unlike the book and movie iterations, there’s not a romantic element for the two — a decision that came at the very last minute.

Series creator Michael Seitzman remembered, “It was a big discussion on set and on the page about what that moment was going to be like when they lay down in bed together… I had a thought overnight, the night before we shot, that it felt wrong to me, that it felt like the reward for all of this shouldn’t be sexual, and it shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be.”

“It was originally going to be a love scene, that scene when she says, ‘Can you hold me?’ and then they lay down in bed together,” Seitzman continued. “Then I killed it the night before we were shooting, and thought it just didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like the right emotion coming out of this episode… I didn’t want the audience to be turned on by the moment or to be confused by the moment.” Another reason it was changed? “I really wanted Rudy to be somebody who really meant it when he said, ‘Of course, I’ll hold you.’ … Anything more would have felt it just would have felt wrong to me.”

The stars involved in the scene completely agreed. For Milo Callaghan, it was also a character issue for Rudy. “It was a conversation we had with Robyn Cara, who plays Kelly, is fantastic and so beautifully vulnerable and sweet in the show. And I think in our version of this, in our take on this story, there’s a curiosity that he feels — that you see in the book and in the film — but something curbs the follow-through on that because this is, again, somebody who’s really vulnerable in an abusive relationship, and he has a value system that doesn’t allow him to take advantage of that, which I think is one of the things that drives the plot, in lots of ways, is that Rudy Baylor refuses to take advantage of the vulnerable.”

Robyn Cara also thought it was the right move for her character’s mindset, explaining, “I like the way it kind of played out in this version because she’s just been through such a horrible thing… She killed her husband, so her brain must just be everywhere. She’s just gone through a huge amount of trauma. So I think going through for a more platonic ending with the characters with them, it feels like the right way to go for us in this version.”

As for the changes to the criminal proceeding itself — in the book and film, it’s Kelly who’s arrested after Rudy killed Cliff in self-defense — Seitzman said those tweaks were meant to keep fans on their toes.

“I really liked the storyline a lot because it lives outside of the spine of the story, but it’s still a part of Rudy’s growth arc, his maturation and matriculation throughout the season,” he explained. “I wanted to upend the audience’s expectations a little bit about what was going to happen. If they were familiar with the book or they were familiar with the movie, they kind of knew how this played out in those original versions. I wanted a different version, and I wanted one that allowed Bruiser to be a very smart investigator and a smart litigator and to figure it out. I also felt that we should play on Rudy’s sometimes view of the truth as something that might be malleable… This is another example of Rudy being dishonest because he thinks he’s doing the right thing.”

‘RHOP’ Alum Robyn Dixon Seemingly Responds To K. Michelle Calling Her A Jobless ‘Couch Potato’

#RobynDixon is unbothered by the shade that recently came from K. Michelle.

Appearing to respond to #KMichelle’s remarks about her employment status after reportedly being let go from #RHOP following Season 8, Robyn shared a smiling selfie from her sofa with the caption: “Still selling satin-lined baseball hats from my couch. I love it here!!!”

This comes after K. Michelle slammed Robyn for comments she made about the singer allegedly joining #RHOA. The #LHH alum wrote: “Why be so worried about me and my overly educated and successful self, and what I might be doing??? Robyn, you ran out of a job a longggggg time ago. You would love to be recycled you little Couch potato, just yappin.”

In a follow-up comment, she added: “I’ma round here selling out shows and you selling baseball hats but you worried about me and what I might be doing. The nerve of this couch potato.”

Chile! Was Robyn being shady with her initial comments, or is this just one big misunderstanding?
