Cat Power Revisits ‘The Greatest’ With New EP

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Cat Power is honoring the impending 20th birthday of her beloved album The Greatest with a three-song EP, Redux, which will arrive Jan. 23 digitally and on 10-inch vinyl from Domino. The lead track is a newly recorded cover of James Brown’s “Try Me” featuring the Dirty Delta Blues band from the original tour in support of The Greatest.

Those musicians include Jon Spencer Blues Explosion guitarist Judah Bauer, Delta 72 keyboardist Gregg Foreman, bassist Erik Paparozzi and Dirty Three drummer Jim White. They re-teamed for the Redux sessions with Cat Power’s Chan Marshall at Church House Studios in Austin, Texas, and were joined by The Greatest producer/engineer Stuart Sikes.

The EP is rounded out by a cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” in tribute to legendary late soul guitarist and The Greatest contributor Teenie Hodges, plus an updated take on album track “Could We” that more resembles how it was performed on the supporting tour.

“Marshall once suggested that her sad songs might be seen as triumphant for how their acceptance of sorrow could create strength,” SPIN wrote in its contemporaneous review of The Greatest. “That’s the definition of soul music. Her title track might refer to a boxer (a city? a nation? a singer?) who ‘wanted to be the greatest’ until ‘the rush of the flood’ changed everything. Read it as literally as you like. Either way, the point is that there can be honor in owning up to your failures, your shame. In present-day America, that’s a radical concept.”

Marshall will perform The Greatest in its entirety on an extensive 2006 tour, which begins Feb. 12 in Houston. Presale tickets will be available this week.

Exclusive: Shah Rukh Khan Revisits His Iconic Scenes From Devdas to Kal Ho Naa Ho

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor but someone who understands the language of cinema. He breathes live into every frame he is in, turning moments into memories. That’s why his performances are remembered across generations. During an old conversation with Filmfare, the actor spoke to us about some of the scenes he liked doing and decoded them.

Talking about his favourite scene in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, he said, “When I go home for my dad’s funeral, I tell my mother “Achche aadmi the woh…” It is one of my favourite scenes.” He starred with Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jackie Shroff in this film.

About Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, SRK said, “When I come running to the summer school and see Kajol for the first time after so many years and I say, ‘Sari!’ As an actor I really enjoyed doing that scene.
In Baazigar, he shared the screen with Shilpa Shetty and Kajol. Talking about his favourite scene, SRK said, “When I say sorry to Shilpa before throwing her off the terrace. In my head the word ‘sorry’ meant ‘I love you a lot’.

About his iconic love story Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, he expressed, “At the station when Kajol invited me for her wedding and I say, ‘Nahin, mein nahin aaunga.’

Shah Rukh Khan also spoke about his film Swades, which is considered one of his career best. He continued, “Whe the kid sells me water in a kulhar at the station and then runs to give me my change. I was moved even while doing it.”Shah Rukh Khan films

He concluded with Kal Ho Naa Ho and said his favourite scene was, “When I tell Preeti how she should learn to smile and show her how with a ‘Hee hee.’ The timing was just right.

James Cameron Revisits Avatar: The Way of Water Ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash’s Release

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

During a chat with Variety, Cameron said, “We’re going through the finish of the VFX now. we have been for the last two years, but we’re really coming down to the wire now. I want to be thematically consistent about the way music was used and underscored during dialogue scenes and things like that. So I have rewatched it. It’s a pretty good ride, I have to say.”

The 2022 sequel, which earned 2.3 billion dollars globally, returned to theatres on October 2 ahead of the third film’s release. The Way of Water expanded the family saga of Jake Sully and Neytiri. In the interview, Cameron shared that he made a major story change late in the process. Interestingly, he brought back Jake’s legendary Toruk, the massive red flying creature from the original 2009 film. “I’ve always been waiting for the question, ‘Why doesn’t he just go get the big red bird and kill everybody like he used to do?’ I went, ‘Oh, he’s got to go get the bird.’ I was saving it for a later film. I was like, ‘F*** that! He should get the bird. Get the Toruk.’”

The director rewrote scenes and shot new material around this idea, saying the addition fits “beautifully” into Jake’s arc. Behind the scenes, he is also reshaping the way his team approaches visual effects. Moving away from a purely technical mindset, Cameron has fostered what he calls a “creative culture” among VFX artistes. This new approach has led to some shots being approved on first viewing.

Ahaan Panday Revisits Shillong With Mohit Suri

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

This year marked the rise of two promising talents with the release of Mohit Suri’s film, Saiyaara. Despite being new to the industry, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda successfully drew audiences to the cinemas. The romantic drama not only became a blockbuster at the box office but Ahaan and Aneet’s performance also won hearts of many fans. Interestingly, Ahaan’s character, Krish Kapoor, originated in Shillong, where the actor connected with the role and found inspiration. After the success of their debut film, Ahaan and Mohit returned to Shillong for a celebration.

Mohit Suri shared a heartfelt note dedicated to Ahaan Panday, his Saiyaara star, which read, “From seeing you nervously and foolishly perform on stage , referencing your character “Krish k” to seeing you getting mobbed here today as a star “Ahaan Pandey” ! So proud of you @ahaanpandayy . Thank you @eveningclubshillong and Jeff for making this possible .. as promised we all came here to share the success of #saiyaara.” Ahaan reshared these pics and took a trip down memory lane. Along with the shot from 2024, before the film was made, Ahaan wrote, “Shillong (TEC) 2024 flying out to Shillong, in the hope to find a bridge between Krish & I, in the hope to meet musicians, @jeff_zolal the owner of TEC was kind enough to put up a board of Josh the band from the film (at this point it was just a script) and the city was kind enough to allow me to learn a thing or two or three, I remember standing in each and every crowd during each and every performance, three weeks of music and culture and being surrounded by the best musicians I’ve witnessed, bobbing my head in a crowd of 30 and sometimes in a crowd of 3, this was where krish was born, in the quiet and loud corners of Shillong, Meghalaya.”

Ahaan also posted the same pictures on his story, penning an emotional note, saying, “Shillong (TEC) September 2025, Mohit sir promised me that he’d someday visit the same spot with me, he knew how much it meant to me, I’ll never forget this night, and I’ll always remember how much you believed in the both of us, I’ll always hold it close. Two kids with a dream and nobody will give you the credit you deserve sir, but you deserve the galaxy and more, I know how much love you’ve poured into this film, and into the both of us, how gently you’ve guided us, we’ve found family in you. Thank you to our other half who couldn’t make it, but we’ve missed you all the more, the yaara in our Saiyaara.”

In more recent news, it was reported that Ahaan Panday has signed a film with Ali Abbas Zafar. The project will have a mix of action and romance.

Bon Jovi Revisits ‘Forever LP’ With Bruce Springsteen and More Guests

by jummy84 August 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Bon Jovi are revisiting the songs from their 2024 LP Forever with an impressive slate of guest singers, including Bruce Springsteen, Jelly Roll, Jason Isbell, Joe Elliott, Avril Lavigne, and Marcus King. They’re calling the new album Forever (Legendary Edition), and it arrives Oct. 24.

This Friday, they’re dropping “Hollow Man” with Bruce Springsteen, along with new tune “Red, White & Jersey.”

“This album is more than just a collection of collaborations, it is an album borne out of necessity,” Jon Bon Jovi says in a statement. “My vocal cord rehab was a well-documented journey that played out while releasing Forever in 2024. I was singing well in the studio for recording, but the vocal demands and rigors of touring were still slightly out of reach for me. Without an ability to tour at that time, I continued working in the studio and called on some friends, great singers, artists, musicians and also just great people.”

“The result is an album with a new viewpoint and new spirit – a collaboration album that proves we all get by in this world with a little help from our friends,” he continues. “I feel tremendous joy and gratitude releasing this album and I think it shows in the music. I can say with certainty that there is always something bigger than ME, and that’s WE.”

Bon Jovi have been off the road since 2022 due to Jon’s vocal issues, but they have played a handful of one-offs in recent years. Their most recent gig took place June 14 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s unclear if they’ll ever be able to tour again.

“I just want to get back to two and a half hours a night, four nights a week, before I’m gonna go out there on the road for real,” Jon said at the 2024 Pollstar Live! conference. “But I’m confident in my doctor.”

Earlier this month, unfounded rumors spread that Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres was stepping away from the band. Tico posted a video to the official Bon Jovi Instagram account to set the record straight.

Editor’s picks

“I’m here to dispel a lot of rumors that I’ve read,” he said. “People [have been] calling me up saying, ‘Did you retire from music, from the band?’ Well… no, i have no idea how this stuff starts. Musicians don’t retire, especially me. Me and the boys, Johnny and everybody, we’re still making music.. I mean, the best we’ve ever been. All I can tell you is, don’t listen to what you read, it’s most likely bullshit. See you later!”
