Kim Kardashian Plays Off ‘All’s Fair’ Scathing Reviews

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Kim Kardashian is seemingly playing off the scathing reviews that her new Hulu show, All’s Fair, has been slammed with.

In an Instagram post, which she initially deleted after posting it Thursday evening, but then reposted shortly after, the reality star and business mogul wrote, “Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!? All’s Fair streaming now on @hulu and @disneyplus.”

In the new post, it appeared Kardashian added more memes to her photo carousel, including comments from fans who highlighted the show debuting at No. 1 on Hulu, despite the less-than-favorable reviews.

One person wrote in response to a post saying the series opened to a zero percent on Rotten Tomatoes (as of Thursday, it had a 5 percent critics score and 65 percent audience score), “Immediately pressed play.” Another fan wrote, “Critics realizing their reviews of all’s fair ended up making people watch and love the show.”

In another meme, a fan added, “Some of the worst acting I’ve ever seen in my life alongside the most predictable storylines and the most ridiculous styling. I’m obsessed I need 14 seasons.”

Once the show was released, critics did not hold back on their thoughts. The Hollywood Reporter‘s TV critic Angie Han called the series “brain dead” in her review, adding, “Kardashian’s performance, stiff and affectless without a single authentic note, is exactly what the writing, also stiff and affectless without a single authentic note, merits. Her very presence, which succeeds at generating buzz and not much else, feels fitting for a show that seems to want not to be watched so much as mined for viral bits and pieces.”

In Kardashian’s new post, she also appeared to delete an illustration she included in her initial post, which her All’s Fair co-stars Glenn Close and Niecy Nash-Betts have also shared in response to harsh critics. The hand-drawn illustration features the show’s leading ladies around a boiling pot, which includes the words, “Critic-bunny stew.”

Nash-Betts added in her Instagram caption, “Thank you to all the fans of @allsfaironhulu for making us number 1. The GOAT!”

The new legal drama, created by Ryan Murphy, Joe Baken and Jon Robin Baitz, follows an all-female law firm in Los Angeles that specializes in high-profile divorces. The cast also includes Teyana Taylor, Naomi Watts and Sarah Paulson.

Speaking to THR after the three-episode premiere released, director and executive producer Anthony Hemingway said the creative team stands by the series, and encouraged viewers to approach the show with a less “critical or literal frame of mind” amid the poor reviews. “It strikes a different tone, and it will evolve over time,” he said. “Something that was important to Ryan [Murphy] was fulfilling fantasies. [He was] wanting people to see what they may not be able to obtain, but can escape into and live out through an entertainment space. [He wanted to] give some wish fulfillment and light to this world.”

What Did Critics Think of ‘Hocus Pocus’ When It Was First Released? Read the 1993 Reviews

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

For many Disney fans, a viewing of 1993’s Hocus Pocus is an annual Halloween tradition. The fantasy comedy film — starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the villainous Sanderson family of witches — has become a staple of October TV programming. But when it hit theaters in 1993, it fared poorly at the box office and even worse in the court of critical opinion.

Maya Bagel Express Opens Second Location in Louisville to Rave Reviews – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 October 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Maya Bagel Express is expanding with the opening of a second location in Louisville, Kentucky, building on its success as one of the city’s most beloved breakfast and brunch establishments. The scratch-made menu items and attention to detail endear the breakfast spot to local foodies, and this second establishment underscores its popularity.

The second store is a tangible glimpse of success for the local restaurant, built upon core family principles that go into each menu item. This retro style of running a neighborhood restaurant has earned the shop a loyal customer base, and the new location aims to expand this base while retaining the core tenets that made the original so unique.

Rapid Growth and Loyal Following

Since its launch in late 2022, Maya Bagel Express has earned a solid reputation with a 4.9 rating and cultivated a loyal customer base. Its first location on Poplar Level Road has become a local staple for breakfast and lunch patrons, so much so that it led to expansion.

The expansion reflects the demand from the loyal Louisville community for additional access to the restaurant’s fresh, made-from-scratch offerings. Maya’s recipe for success involves fresh ingredients, passion, and a dedicated commitment to the local community.

Maya’s Uncompromising Quality Equals Uncompromising Support

Maya Bagel Express is known for its consistent quality, making all of its menu items in-house daily from scratch. The brand does not believe in shortcuts or frozen dough, and this philosophy follows to the new location. The menu features classic and creative bagel flavors, including jalapeno cheddar and French toast, and can be served with homemade cream cheeses. Flavors include scallion, cinnamon walnut, and veggie.

Maya is more than just bagels, however. The restaurant also serves Nova Lox, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch options like turkey club sandwiches and pastrami.

Maya’s Vision and Industry Disruption

Maya’s was founded by Murad Islamov when he was just 19. His primary focus was to bring authentic, high-quality bagels to Kentucky, a state that lacks the New York-style options, and by all counts, he has succeeded. Islamov was born into a baking family, where he learned hard work, innovation, and integrity. These are the founding principles of the bagel shop, and they are leading to rapid success.

Maya Bagel Express

Cultural Relevance and Community Connection

The brand has gained national exposure through social media, adding to Maya’s charm and community standing. Even though there are now two locations, the brand still maintains its neighborhood diner feel, and that is a significant factor in its success.

Maya Bagel Express still retains its community charm and has become a gathering place for many locals. Along with delicious menu items, the restaurant serves as a place with a sense of community and service, adding a small-town feel that blends seamlessly with its national exposure.

The new location in Louisville is a welcome sight for the community and promises to be another gathering hub, offering from-scratch bagels and other menu items. This expansion marks a turning point in the young entrepreneur’s life, which stems from the family values he grew up with.

bitchy | Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ is getting mostly positive reviews

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl is out now. The good news is that Taylor is a stand-alone industry and a monoculture, which means that everyone has an opinion on her life and her music. On Thursday, leaks of TLOAS were being widely circulated online, and the Swifties were already in the trenches and fighting with everyone. The thing is, 90% of the music industry is in awe of Taylor and fearful of her enormous power. Which probably explains why even though early listeners of TLOAS are disappointed, the mainstream media’s reviews of the album are glowing and extremely positive. Variety and Rolling Stone led the way in praising the album and calling it yet another perfect classic. The Guardian’s critic was more honest, and this is the review getting much more play, some highlights:

There are albums for which vast success seems preordained, and then there is The Life of a Showgirl. The podcast on which Taylor Swift announced the release of her 12th studio album – her fiance Travis Kelce’s ordinarily sports-focused New Heights – garnered half a billion views, breaking a record set by Donald Trump’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in the process. A “launch event” film, featuring the kind of lyric videos and backstage footage that anyone else would release on YouTube, is instead set for a theatrical release in more than 100 countries: in the US alone, it sold $15m worth of tickets in 24 hours. The album itself has been pre-saved more than 5m times on Spotify, breaking another record in the process. “I’m immortal now,” Swift sings on the title track, which seems less like an extravagant boast than a statement of fact.

In contrast to last year’s The Tortured Poets Department – which by the time she’d finished releasing expanded editions and bonus tracks, was nearly two and half hours long – it offers a crisp 12 songs in 40 minutes. Her recent collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner are nowhere to be seen. Swift made The Life of a Showgirl in between Eras dates with Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish duo who co-wrote and produced her most forthright pop bangers of the 2010s: Shake It Off, Blank Space, Don’t Blame Me, Bad Blood.

But anyone anticipating something similar from Showgirl is in for a shock: the fizzing electronic pop of Reputation and 1989 is conspicuously absent. Instead, its primary currency is breezy, easy-on-the-ear soft rock: acoustic guitars, misty synth tones, subtle orchestrations and breathy backing vocals. Wood’s laid-back take on disco recalls not the sweaty hedonism of the dancefloor but the late 70s moment where four-to-floor rhythms and chicken-scratch guitar temporarily invaded the oeuvres of west coast singer-songwriters.

More startling still is the distinct lack of undeniable hooks and nailed-on melodies. The songs are well turned, but in terms of genuinely memorable moments, Showgirl evinces just one killer chorus (Elizabeth Taylor), some impressively unexpected key changes on Wi$h Li$t and the authentically heart-tugging Ruin the Friendship, which finds Swift returning to her home town for the funeral of a high school boy she regrets not dating. There’s a fantastic chord sequence on Actually Romantic, but, alas, 37 years ago Frank Black wrote a very similar one for Where Is My Mind? by Pixies, a song you can literally sing along to Actually Romantic. The rest floats in one ear and out the other: not unpleasantly, but you might reasonably expect more given the amassed songwriting firepower behind it, and Swift’s claims of “keeping the bar really high”.

Cancelled! deals with the Kim-and-Kanye-adjacent controversies that beset Swift in 2015 and 2016, and Father Figure concerns former label boss Scott Borchetta, both in needless-to-say-I-had-the-last-laugh style. There are some spiky lines here and there – “you made a deal with this devil / turns out my dick’s bigger” snaps Father Figure – but they don’t really click. Perhaps that’s because Cancelled! and Father Figure revisit very well-trodden ground, while eviscerating a rival when you’re the world’s most successful pop star is, by default, punching down, even if she did apparently call you “boring Barbie” behind your back.

Then there’s Wood, a song that, metaphorically speaking, drunkenly clambers on a table in Wetherspoons pub with a skew-whiff bridal veil on its head and an L-plate around its neck and favours everyone in earshot with a loud paean to the size of her fiance’s penis, which it variously describes as his “magic wand”, his “redwood tree” and his “hard rock” (there is also a regrettable degree of punning on the word “cocky”). Of course, Swift is perfectly entitled to write about whatever she wants, TMI or not, but there’s no escaping the fact that comparing her partner’s knob to a magic wand constitutes weak writing from someone who made her name, at least in part, by being a sharper, wittier, more incisive lyricist than her peers.

In fairness, Wood is one clanging misstep on an album that isn’t terrible: it’s just nowhere near as good as it should be given Swift’s talents, and it leaves you wondering why. Perhaps romantic contentment simply writes whiter than vengeful post-breakup bitterness, or perhaps it wobbles your judgment. Perhaps it was rushed. Or perhaps its author was just exhausted, which would be entirely understandable. Even the immortal, it seems, sometimes need to take a break from pop’s constant churn and unceasing clamour for content.

[From The Guardian]

The fact that it’s not full of more revved-up songs is what surprised me, given the name of the album and Taylor’s return to working with Max Martin and Shellback. I was expecting upbeat pop bangers, and not… this. I also don’t understand Taylor’s need to churn out albums every year, especially when it certainly feels like she’s running out of good material. That’s the larger point though – Taylor’s in such rarefied air, she believes/knows that her fans will buy every single song, every album, every variant she sells, regardless of quality. Every artist makes dumb songs – very few artists release all of their dumb songs because they feel the need to churn out an annual album. I’m including some reactions below, and Taylor’s new IG post full of Showgirl pics.

Scores, Performances, and Reviews for TikTok Night

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

[WARNING: This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Dancing With the Stars Season 34, Week 3.]

The competition is getting even more intense during Episode 3 of Dancing With the Stars Season 34. During the Tuesday, September 30, episode, the remaining 12 pairs hit the dance floor once again to perform routines to songs that have gone viral on TikTok. Judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli offered their critiques and gave the contestants their scores.

One person will be eliminated at the end of the episode based on viewer votes and the judges’ scores. Follow along as we live blog all of the performances and reveal the scores. Keep checking back as we update throughout the episode!

Jen Affleck — 19/30

For her Week 3 cha-cha-cha, Jen Affleck performed to “She’s a Bad Mama Jama,” which is the same song she previously went viral for dancing to on TikTok. She threw it back to that viral video by starting the routine wearing a fake baby bump and hospital gown, then ripping it off to show off her sexy gold costume.

“Mamma mia! That was an easy delivery, wasn’t it? In, out, cha-cha-cha-, down, next! I’ve never quite seen anything like it, I have to say,” Tonioli said. However, he said Affleck needed a little bit more foot action and to be a bit “cleaner on the finish.” Inaba gushed, “You are such a hottie!” and said it was “so impressive” that she did that routine so soon after pregnancy. “But, there’s a little bit hyperextension going on in some of your moves,” she added.

Hough concluded the critiques by telling Affleck she gave a “great performance,” and warned her she needed to have straight legs and the “proper Cuban motion” in this particular dance. “Overall, I think your performance is starting to evolve and come out,” he concluded. Inaba gave the routine a 7, but Tonioli and Hough scored Affleck with 6s.

Lauren Jauregui — 18/30

Lauren Jauregui hit the dance floor next with a cha-cha-cha to her band Fifth Harmony’s song “Work From Home.” Of course, they threw in some original 5H choreography to the routine, as well.

“The way you move, I really like the way you move, you’re very in tune with your body,” Inaba said. “I want to see a lot more pop in your step. I just want you to hit certain things harder. I want more dynamics. I think you have it in you.” Hough said there’s “something beautiful” about the way Jauregui moves, but agreed with Inaba’s comments that she needs more “power” in her Latin moves.

“They’re absolutely right,” Tonioli added. “You have a wonderful lyrical quality. When you dance Latin … sometimes you have to hit the beat. Flow your body as you would do with your voice.” She received 6s from all three judges, which was down from last week.

Danielle Fishel — 21/30

After getting her first 7 last week, Danielle Fishel had even more to prove this time around (especially since she’s battling an injury). She performed a foxtrot to “Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter, her former Girl Meets World costar.

“You’re just so pleasant and refreshing. There’s a simplicity and a grace when you dance,” Hough said. “The control and the foxtrot fundamentals, thank you so much. One note tonight is that when you use your arms, use it from your ribcage. An extension from your ribcage. So your whole body moves.”

Toniolo praised Fishel for taking his past advice about watching her shoulders. He called the dance “lovely” and “elegant,” adding, “The TikTok did not take away from the style of the dance. It was incorporated beautifully.” Inaba agreed with her fellow judges and said the routine was “very beautiful,” but told Fishel she can “work a little bit on [her] body contact” in the future. She improved from her scores last week, earning 7s with all of the judges.

Jordan Chiles — 24/30

After her major improvements last week, Jordan Chiles returned with a tango to “Anxiety.” The response to the “really hard” routine was so overwhelming that Chiles got emotional afterwards.

“Don’t cry, your improvement has been astonishing. My baby has transformed into a stalking panther! Clean, clear, powerful, focused. Your best dance yet,” Tonioli raved. Inaba thanked Chiles for sharing her own story with anxiety. “That was an example of how to be smooth and fierce. Amazing again, my friend,” she added. Hough said he was “really impressed” with how Chiles kept her frame, despite her height difference with Sosa.

For the powerful routine, Chiles earned 8s from all three judges. The highest scores of the season so far!

Dylan Efron — 23/30

Dylan Efron’s dance this week was a foxtrot to Justin Bieber’s “Yukon.”

“I’m having a hard time scoring this. I am torn,” Inaba said. “There’s a beginner level group and then the advanced, showman entertain group. You are like the beginner group, but you are really learning the technique, and that’s the key to winning this season, in particular. You are really learning the technique.” Hough called the foxtrot “smooth as silk” and said he was impressed by Efron’s “control” and “stride” in the dance. “We do not see that. That was exceptional,” he raved.

Tonioli concluded the comments by calling Efron “smoldering” and said technically the dance was very impressive. Tonioli and Hough both gave Efron 8s, while Inaba scored the dance a 7, giving him his highest score yet.

More to come …

Fawad Khan’s Comeback Film Aabeer Gulaal Receives Underwhelming Reviews, Indian Release Denied

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

The much-anticipated romantic drama Aabeer Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, premiered worldwide (excluding India) on September 12, but early reviews suggest the film has largely failed to impress critics. Many have dismissed it as underwhelming and lacking impact, with the BBC Asian Network’s Haroon Rashid calling it “one of the most frustrating romantic dramas I’ve watched in a very long time.”

Rashid further criticized the film, stating, “Not only does it look cheap, but it is such an incoherent, inconsistent storyline, which is such an injustice to the talent that you’re working with.” Sadiq Saleem of Khaleej Times echoed similar sentiments, writing, “One can’t help but feel that Fawad deserved better — and so did the audience.” Saleem also criticized the film’s heavy reliance on Bollywood nostalgia, with “medley of retro songs, and nods to DDLJ and Chandni.”

Gulf News critic Manjusha Radhakrishnan found the film “bloated, padded with unnecessary segues that drag the runtime.” She particularly singled out Lisa Haydon’s much-hyped cameo as “the biggest offender — it adds nothing.” Despite the overall negative reception, Radhakrishnan did acknowledge the onscreen chemistry between Fawad and Vaani, noting that “their chemistry actually clicks.”

Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, Aabeer Gulaal was originally slated for an Indian release on May 9 but was delayed after a terror attack in Pahalgam. Recent speculation about a September 26 release in India has now been firmly denied. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) debunked the rumors on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “#PIBFactCheck This claim is FAKE. No such clearance has been granted for this film.”

The film had generated significant buzz due to Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema after an eight-year hiatus. His last Bollywood appearance was in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil before cultural relations between India and Pakistan led to an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists in Indian media.

‘Wake Up Dead Man’ Reviews: What Are Critics Saying?

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Rian Johnson‘s hotly anticipated Knives Out threequel Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery had its world premiere in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto Film Festival, and the entertainment world’s film critics are already praising it as a successful entry into the whodunit franchise canon.

Reviewers laud the murder-mystery’s Gothic elements, contrasting the Netflix movie’s more somber tone with Glass Onion‘s distinctly campy vibe.

Deadline’s Damon Wise noted that fans should not be alarmed at the switch in genre, as Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc and a new all-star cast of characters keeps the project entertaining: “Don’t take that to mean that all the fun’s been sucked out, though; far from it. As one character put is, ‘There’s obviously some Scooby-Doo sh*t going on round here.’ And wouldn’t you just know it, there damn well is.”

IndieWire’s Kate Erbland said: “It works, and it’s no big mystery why — Johnson knows his form and format, and delivers on it, playing with tone and message but never losing sight of why these stories are so damn entertaining to watch and unravel.”

TheWrap‘s Chase Hutchinson also highlighted the depth of star Josh O’Connor’s performance: “Not only does the franchise newcomer give an excellent comedic performance, the ‘Challengers’ and ‘God’s Own Country’ actor also brings a genuine amount of grace to a film that ends up becoming precisely about that. It’s Johnson’s most elaborate murder mystery movie yet, but also his most emotional.”

Wake Up Dead Man, set for a limited theatrical run Nov. 26 and coming to Netflix Dec. 12, also stars Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church.

KPOPPED first reviews: Fans have mixed feelings about the K-pop x West crossover; ‘karaoke night with pyrotechnics’

Just when you thought the K-pop crossover wave couldn’t get any wilder, in comes KPOPPED — Apple TV+’s latest musical experiment that feels part remix battle, part fever dream. Produced by Lionel Richie, the show pairs K-pop groups like Itzy, Kep1er, Ateez, Billlie, STAYC, JO1, Kiss of Life, and Blackswan with Western icons including Megan Thee Stallion, Patti LaBelle, Kylie Minogue, Kesha, TLC, Vanilla Ice, Boyz II Men, and two-fifths of the Spice Girls.

The trailer had fans hyped, with Megan Thee Stallion delivering a K-pop remix of Savage against a backdrop of pyrotechnics. If those 109 seconds were anything to go by, the series looked like a five-star extravaganza. But now that all eight episodes are out, early reactions are a little more mixed.

The format sees each Korean group split into halves, each partnered with a different Western star to reimagine one of their hits. The audience then votes on which performance was “kpopped” the best — essentially, the most high-energy reinterpretation. Hosted by comedian Soojeong Son with Psy and Stallion as mentors, the show is a full-scale spectacle, but not everyone is impressed.

Netizen reactions range from “low-budget” to “love it”

“It felt very cheap and low budget lol,” one viewer admitted. Another added, “A lot of it sounded like a night out with karaoke.” Others were disappointed that the show leaned too heavily into reality-TV tropes: “I feel like KPOPPED would be a more captivating/compelling show if it was less American-reality-TV, because those interviews in between rehearsals where they speak in present tense about events that clearly already happened ruin the flow and immersion.”

That said, plenty of fans are still having fun with it. “While I honestly loved these performances, what I really felt was missing from KPOPPED was some more heart-to-hearts on how they make music, their artistry, their mindset, convos on the music industry in general,” one person wrote. Another praised the idols’ energy: “I’m working my way through the episodes and Nvee from Blackswan was insane vocally. It’s so fun to see so many idols having fun and trying new spins on old songs.”

Some were quick to call out standouts: “Watching that KPOPPED episode I have praise for Ateez and Kylie alone. You can see who was fully immersed and interested in doing this and who wasn’t.” But the biggest complaint across the board? The length. “The most criminal thing about KPOPPED is how short these episodes are, I need 2 hours of footage MINIMUM,” one fan demanded. Another echoed the sentiment: “Do not tell me they advertised and hyped up KPOPPED for months now only for the episodes to be 30 mins.”

So, is KPOPPED a hit? Depends on who you ask. It’s flashy, chaotic, and packed with unlikely collabs — exactly the kind of pop-cultural chaos the internet loves. But if you were expecting something deeper, you might just be left wanting more.
