Stock Up 10% on Higher Revenue Forecast

SiriusXM Holdings saw quarterly revenue slip 1% year-over-year to $2.16 billion, though it reversed a loss from a year ago to generate $297 million in positive net income, the company reported Thursday (Oct. 30).

That turnaround — Sirius reported a net loss of $2.96 billion in the third quarter of 2024, stemming from the Liberty Media transaction — helped push the company’s share price up by more than 10% to $23.19 at the market’s close on Thursday.

While the company reported lower subscriber revenue and higher royalties and customer acquisition costs, years of cost-cutting and workforce reductions helped to offset those pressures. Sirius’ adjusted earnings before interest, tax, deductions and amortization (EBITDA) fell roughly 2.5% to $676 million from $693 million a year ago, but with an adjusted EBIDTA margin of 31%, Sirius executives raised their 2025 financial target by $25 million across revenue, EBITDA and free cash flow.

“We are confident improvements in our business will drive continued growth in free cash flow towards our target of $1.5 billion by 2027 and beyond,” SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz told investors on a conference call.

SiriusXM self-pay net subscribers decreased by approximately 40,000 in the third quarter, bringing the total number to around 33 million. While that was in line with expectations, Witz said, the company hopes that new programming — like an Ed Sheeran pop-up channel and concert, and a Taylor Swift channel launched to celebrate her new album — will offset losses in the fourth quarter.

Churn among subscribers who pay their bills monthly and the number of trial customers improved compared to last year by 1.6% and 1.4%, respectively. Trial customers stood at 7.4 million at the end of the quarter, down from 7.6 million at the end of the second quarter of 2025 but up slightly from 7.3 million at the end of the third quarter of 2024. The company ended the quarter with approximately 33 million total subscribers.

Paramount Skydance Hires Jay Askinasi as Chief Revenue Officer

Paramount Skydance has recruited Jay Askinasi, most recently Roku’s top advertising exec, as chief revenue officer.

Askinasi will start at Paramount Nov. 3, dual-reporting to CEO David Ellison and president Jeff Shell. According to the company, the CRO position is a newly created role “designed to lead the company’s monetization strategy and strengthen its long-term positioning as a next-generation media company” and to push toward a unified advertising platform. John Halley remains in his role as president of Paramount Advertising, reporting to Askinasi.

Paramount’s portfolio of brands includes CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, BET, Paramount Networks, and streaming services Paramount+ and Pluto TV.

Askinasi is latest senior hire to join Ellison’s executive team since the Paramount-Skydance deal closed in early August. Others include Makan Delrahim, who advised Skydance on its acquisition of Paramount Global, as chief legal officer and former Meta exec Dane Glasgow as chief product officer.

Askinasi worked at Roku for less than two years, where he was senior VP, head of global media revenue and growth. At the streaming-platform company, he led ad sales, including the entire go-to-market organization, enterprise partnerships and platform monetization. Prior to joining Roku in April 2024, he was CEO of Publicis Media Exchange U.S., overseeing media investment strategy for the holding company and its brands, including monetization of its Epsilon assets. Before that Askinasi led agency and platform partnerships for AT&T and was president of RUN, a vendor of mobile-focused programmatic ad tech.

Shell, in a prepared statement, said Askinasi “brings a unique and highly relevant mix of experience across ad tech, platforms, data, agencies, and startups — all grounded in a deep understanding of the media and converged video landscape. Jay is widely respected for transforming underutilized assets and driving modern, digital-first commercial strategies. His leadership will be key as we accelerate growth and innovation across our business.”

Askinasi commented, “This is a pivotal moment of transformation for the industry, and Paramount is clearly positioning itself at the forefront of that change. I’m excited to help shape a next-generation digital monetization engine – one that can stand alongside the biggest tech platforms – while preserving the creative excellence and cultural influence that define Paramount’s iconic content.”

Kanye West Documentary ‘In Whose Name?’ Brings In Big Revenue

Ye may be at his peak controversially, but people are still invested in his life and story. In Whose Name?, the documentary about some of his most chaotic years, recently brought in big revenue despite not having a traditional marketing rollout.

The film, directed by Nico Ballesteros, made $776,000 in its opening weekend, a huge feat as it was not heavily promoted and was only available in 1,000 theaters across the country. Nonetheless, its inclusion of raw footage and an in-depth look at the Chicago producer’s trying times was more than enough to convince people to go see it.

The documentary covers moments such as his “White Lives Matter” shirt era, his periods of antisemitism, the collapse of his relationship with Kim Kardashian, the Sunday Service era, and more. One clip in particular, where he lashed out at Kris Jenner, circulated on the internet and drew people to see the film even more.

“I’d rather be dead than to be on medication,” the artist formerly known as Kanye West exclaimed in the clip. Later, he yells, “No one in the family has taken responsibility for my hospital visit, but if you want to go online, that’s 50% of what people say at least!”

Jenner tried to tell him that doesn’t matter, and he exploded on her. “It does matter!” he repeated at the top of his lungs before grabbing his belongings and storming out. “It doesn’t matter what the internet says, it matters what we think, Ye,” Jenner said while he exited. He eventually came back and she expressed her love for him, her sympathy for impacting his mental health, and how she wanted his relationship with Kim K to be.

AllHipHop reported that Ballesteros and his team plan to widen the scope of the film’s cinematic reach and eventually get it onto streaming platforms. For now, watch the trailer below.
