Duffer Brothers Respond to Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour Claims

A Stranger Things final season press tour junket has been underway since Monday, but there’s one topic Netflix doesn’t want raised: A viral report alleging star Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbour of on-set bullying.

Despite the alleged report, Brown and Harbour were all smiles as they posed together at the season five world premiere in Los Angeles Thursday evening.

When asked about the bullying claims on the red carpet, co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter while standing next to his brother Matt Duffer, “Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal onset matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”

Also at the premiere, THR asked Stranger Things director and executive producer Shawn Levy how production handles a bullying complaint on set and “makes sure everyone feels safe and respected.”

“At the end of the day, that’s the job,” Levy replied. “You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”

He continued, “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to… there’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”

Neither Netflix nor representatives for Brown and Harbour had replied to queries about the report, which was first posted by UK tabloid The Daily Mail on Saturday, heading into Thursday night’s L.A. premiere of the fifth and final season of the mega-hit series.

The story said the 21-year-old Brown filed a harassment and bullying claim against the 50-year-old Thunderbolts* star before filming began on season five and that there were “pages of pages” of allegations. The claims were not specified, but no sexual impropriety was reportedly alleged. Netflix reportedly investigated the claims “for months.” Also, as a result, Brown was accompanied by a personal representative while on set for the final season. The show wrapped filming in December.

The claims come at a peak awkward moment for the streamer, just as a massive marketing campaign is ramping up for the show’s highly anticipated (and very expensive) fifth and final season.

In the show, the duo have a tender and at times acrimonious father-daughter relationship, with Brown playing the super-powered orphan Eleven and Harbour portraying the gruff small town police chief Jim Hopper.

In 2021, Harbour spoke out about his feelings about his co-star. “Millie and I have always had sort of a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young,” Harbour said on the That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast. “I knew her before any of this big fame hit … I have a real protective feeling for her. I have a real, like, worry. I worry about her and the fame and all that she has to struggle with.”

Brown has previously spoken out about the issue of bullying. In March, she posted an Instagram video while promoting her Netflix movie The Electric State and pushed back on trolls who criticized her appearance online.

“I started in this industry when I was 10 years old,” she said, according to Today. “I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things season one. And because I don’t, I’m now a target.”

Brown read off a few headlines and then continued: “This isn’t journalism. This is bullying. The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, is disturbing. And the fact that some of these articles are written by women makes it even worse. I refuse to apologize for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman. I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress or how I present myself … Let’s do better.”

The final season of Stranger Things is rolling out in a three-part holiday-timed release, with the first four episodes in Part 1 releasing on Nov. 26. Part 2’s episodes then release on Dec. 25, with the feature-length series finale hitting both the streaming and select theaters on Dec. 31.

bitchy | King Charles ‘did not respond’ to heckler asking about the Prince Andrew cover-up

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

People rarely remark on it at this point, but it’s truly insane to see how many “medals” King Charles wears these days whenever he’s doing an event for veterans or the military. Even in his later years as Prince of Wales, he wore an insane number of medals, but I swear, he’s given himself like six more since he became king. Anyway, these are photos of Charles and his medals at the National Memorial Arboretum. He attended the dedication ceremony of the LGBT+ Armed Forces memorial and he also had an event at Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire. It was outside the cathedral that Charles did a little walkabout with assorted fans behind a crowd barrier. Most of the people there were supporters, but at least one man was not:

King Charles was heckled by a protester asking him about Prince Andrew’s relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a visit to a cathedral on Monday. The man asked how long the King had known about his brother and Epstein, and questioned whether he had asked the police to “cover up” for Andrew.

His protest was met by vocal support for the King, including one woman who told him to “shut up”. There were also loud chants of “three cheers for the King”.

Prince Andrew’s links with Epstein have been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks. The prince, who relinquished his titles earlier this month, has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Throngs of fans had waited to meet the King, who was visiting Staffordshire for an engagement at Lichfield Cathedral. In video footage from the event, the single protester said: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you asked the police to cover up for Andrew? Should MPs be allowed to debate the royals in the House of Commons?”

The King did not respond to the questions but carried on greeting fans, some of whom chanted “God Save The King”. One fan can be heard asking him for a hug.

Several people outside the cathedral looked visibly annoyed by the protester, with a woman telling him to “go away and leave him alone”.

[From BBC]

I included the video in a post yesterday, but it’s worth dedicating a story to this. The only thing I’ll say in Charles’s defense is that at least he’s out and about. Prince William is still on vacation and he hasn’t been seen in ten days. Now, could Charles have handled this better? For sure. It reminds me of the months after QEII died, when Charles could barely leave the castle without being loudly protested wherever he went. Some people even threw eggs. That was just three years ago! The protests, heckling and egg-tossing died down for a time, especially after Charles’s cancer diagnosis. It’s interesting to see people ramping up again, especially in the wake of the Prince Andrew fiasco and the monarchy’s struggle-bus approval ratings.

Additionally, if you want to hear a story about how Charles and his not-ready-for-primetime team of courtiers completely bungled their messaging on Andrew last week, I’m also including a clip of Emily Maitlis describing what really went down when royal reporters were all abuzz last Thursday about a big announcement coming out. The palace actually told news outlets to go to Windsor because they wanted everyone to get photos of Charles driving over to Royal Lodge to bitch out Andrew. Instead, the palace chickened out (Charles the Ditherer) and then blamed the media for turning everything into a circus.

“The Palace got very nervous… they blamed a “media circus” – a circus entirely of their own making.”

Journalists were tipped there “may be passing traffic” outside Royal Lodge on Thursday night… but it didn’t materialise. 👀@maitlis | @jonsopel pic.twitter.com/En5NScmpS2

DHS Uses “Billy Madison” Quote To Respond To Strategist’s Criticism

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

When Democratic political strategist Maria Cardona blasted the Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions for violating citizens’ rights, the Trump administration responded with a quote from Billy Madison.

After appearing on CNN on Monday morning, Cardona posted on X, “ICE is engaging in egregious, criminal behavior, violating peoples’ civil rights, kidnapping, and snatching innocent men, women, and children off the streets, even detaining American citizens! While doing it, not identifying themselves, hiding their faces, not telling people why they are being taken. This is not normal! This is not American! This is not acceptable! And videotaping these agents, asking them questions, and even hollering that they should not be doing this, does not in any way constitute a ‘violent attack’ against these agents! It is part of the Constitution, to peacefully protest violent behavior against innocent people, and American citizens!”

The Department of Homeland Security responded, “What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things Americans have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent statement were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber for having listened to it.”

That is a quote from the 1995 Adam Sandler comedy, in which the principal tells him, “Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

In the DHS statement, the department argued that “far from engaging in criminal behavior, federal law enforcement actions have significantly REDUCED crime in the cities we have been deployed to. Locking up criminals works, imagine that.”

But DHS did not address Cardona’s criticisms that non-violent legal immigrants and even citizens have been caught up in ICE raids, by what amounts to a secret police force given the lack of uniforms or other information. Videos collected by bystanders have popped up every day, showing some of the raids. Last week, a video surfaced of an ICE officer who shot a member of the clergy who had been outside a processing facility in Chicago. ICE spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin later said that “these agitators were blocking an ICE vehicle from leaving the federal facility—impeding operations.”

In response to the DHS message, Cardona wrote, “Really @DHSgov? You respond with a quote from Billy Madison? That proves just how unserious, sophomoric, and incompetent you all are. Which would be funny if you all weren’t so deadly dangerous to the communities you are terrorizing! You are also dead wrong! The vast majority of the ppl you are detaining ARE NOT violent criminals, 93% have no violent criminal history whatsoever! There are REAMS of videos of you slamming women, children, and elderly ppl to the ground, shooting pepper balls at priests, even kidnapping American citizens!! THAT is not acceptable, it IS criminal and it is UNAMERICAN!”

Dua Lipa and talent agency respond to reports of sacking agent for calling for Kneecap to be dropped from Glastonbury

by jummy84 September 24, 2025
written by jummy84

Dua Lipa and her talent agency have responded to reports that she sacked her agent after he reportedly signed a letter calling for Kneecap to be removed from the Glastonbury line-up.

  • READ MORE: Dua Lipa – ‘Radical Optimism’ review: summery but slight psych-pop

The Daily Mail reported this weekend that the singer, currently on the North American leg of her ‘Radical Optimism’ world tour, parted ways with her William Morris Endeavour (WME) agent David Levy.

A source alleged that the singer “made sure through her people that David Levy wasn’t working on her music anymore,” adding that “she views him as being a supporter of Israel’s war in Gaza, and the terrible treatment of the Palestinians and that was made very clear through the letter that he signed and sent to Michael Eavis.”

Now, Dua Lipa has taken to Instagram to distance herself from Levy but clarify the reports.

“I do not condone the actions of David Levy or other music executives toward an artist speaking their truth,” said Lipa. “I also cannot ignore how this has been handled in the press. Not only was the story completely false, but the language used by the Daily Mail has been deliberately inflammatory, crafted purely for clickbait, clearly designed to fuel online division.

“It is always Free Palestine but exploiting a global tragedy in order to sell newspapers is something I find deeply troubling.”

A WME spokesperson has also disputed the tabloid accounts. They told NME: “Reports suggesting that Dua Lipa or her management dismissed one of our agents because of his political views are categorically false.

They added: “David Levy played a role in Dua’s early career (2016-2019) and as is customary, is credited both internally and in industry journals as being a member of the team. When he moved out of London in 2019, he transitioned into an advisory role and has not been involved in Dua’s day-to-day business since. Levy fully removed himself from the project among others earlier this year.”

The letter in question was an email sent to Glastonbury organisers, including co-creator Eavis, ahead of this year’s festival. Intended to be confidential, it was leaked by a Glastonbury employee.

The campaign to remove Kneecap, known for their vocal pro-Palestine views, from the line-up, was ultimately unsuccessful, and DJ Toddla T was one of the letter’s biggest critics, writing on Instagram that it “was headed by a very systemically powerful music agent and signed by 30 individuals from within the music industry.”

Lipa, meanwhile, has long been outspoken about Palestine. In 2021, she criticised an ad in the New York Times that labelled her, as well as models Bella and Gigi Hadid – both half-Palestinian – as Antisemitic.

In October 2023, she was one of a number of celebrities to sign a letter to then-US President Joe Biden calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, and she reaffirmed her stance in an interview the following January.

Last May, she shared her support for the #AllEyesOnRafah campaign in a bid to garner support for people living in cramped refugee camps in the city without humanitarian aid. She wrote on her Instagram Stories, “Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilising to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza. #AllEyesOnRafah.”

A month later, she said she was “willing” to “be met with a backlash” over her comments, describing them as being “for the greater good”.

She’s also pressured Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to take action, being one of over 300 figures to sign Choose Love’s open letter urging him to “end the UK’s complicity in the horrors in Gaza. Following his response, the non-governmental organisation hit back, saying, “We need actions not words for the children of Gaza.”

Fleetwood Mac respond to reports they will reunite for J.K. Rowling’s 60th birthday party

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Fleetwood Mac have responded to recent reports that they would be reuniting to perform at J.K. Rowling’s 60th birthday party.

The band have not played together since a children’s hospital benefit concert in San Francisco in November 2019, and it has been widely thought that any chance of a reunion was unlikely due to Christine McVie’s passing in 2022.

However, a report in the Daily Mail on Saturday (September 20) suggested that the Harry Potter author was planning on hiring them to play at her two-day 60th birthday party later this year.

Representatives for the band were quick to respond to the speculation, telling Rolling Stone that “this is categorically false” and even stating that it is “not in the realm of true”.

In April 2018, it was announced that Lindsey Buckingham had been dismissed from the band following what was described as “a disagreement over the band’s upcoming tour”. They went on to tour without him in 2018 and 2019, with Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Crowded House’s Neil Finn filling in for Buckingham.

Following the end of that tour, the band became dormant, and after McVie’s death in 2022, Stevie Nicks said there was “no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together” without her.

Similarly, Mick Fleetwood said in 2023 that he believed “the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris”, although he did add: “But then we’ve all said that before.”

Even if a Fleetwood Mac reunion does not appear to be on the cards, Nicks and Buckingham fuelled fresh speculation this month about a possible reunion of their Buckingham Nicks duo.

Just weeks after confirming the re-release of their self-titled 1973 album, the former bandmates shared a joint Instagram post on September 5 that featured an old clip of the two onstage.

In the video, Nicks sings the opening lyrics of their 1973 track ‘Frozen Love’: “You may not be as strong as me, and I may not care to teach you.” She then trails off before laughing: “That’s all I remember.” Their latest post was captioned: “We remember the rest now.”

Elsewhere, Stevie Nicks has said she’s working on a new album, saying it was made up of “real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men”.

This week, meanwhile, Fleetwood and Buckingham teamed up with Miley Cyrus on her new single ‘Secrets’, which is part of the deluxe edition of her latest album ‘Something Beautiful’. Listen to the track above.

The Last Dinner Party lead boycott of Victorious as The Mary Wallopers hit back and festival respond

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

The Last Dinner Party are among a group of artists to have boycotted Victorious Festival after The Mary Wallopers’ set was cut short for displaying a Palestinian flag.

On Friday (August 22), the Irish band were halfway through their opening song at the Portsmouth festival when their sound was cut by festival organisers and the Palestine flag on stage with them was taken away. As the crowd started to boo, the band led a chant of “free, free Palestine”.

The Mary Wallopers updated fans on Saturday with an Instagram post reading: “Yesterday, a famine was declared in Gaza, where at least 65 people were killed by Israeli attacks, all the while Israel pushed ahead with plans to split the West Bank in two. These are the important facts about yesterday.”

Alongside an unedited video of their set being cut short, they added: “The festival have released a misleading statement to the press claiming they cut our sound because of a discriminatory chant and not the band’s call to Free Palestine. Our video clearly shows a Victorious crew member coming on stage, interfering with our show, removing the flag from the stage and then the sound being cut following a chant of ‘Free Palestine’. The same crew member is later heard in the video saying, ‘you aren’t playing until the flag is removed’.”

“We completely reject Victorious’ portrayal of today’s events and request that they retract their statement immediately. We know this is getting some attention and we don’t want another distraction which takes attention away from the genocide that is happening in Palestine,” they added.

Now, a number of other artists have announced they will not be playing at Victorious this weekend, including The Last Dinner Party, The Academic and Cliffords.

“We are outraged by the decision made to silence The Mary Wallopers yesterday at Victorious,” The Last Dinner Party wrote in a statement. “As a band we cannot cosign political censorship and will therefore be boycotting the festival today.”

“As Gazans are deliberately plunged into catastrophic famine after two years of escalating violence, it is urgent and obvious that artists use their platform to draw attention to the cause. To see an attempt to direct attention away from the genocide in order to maintain an apolitical image is immensely disappointing.”

“Throughout this summer we have used our stages to encourage our audience to donate even a drink’s worth of money to Medical Aid for Palestinians, and today we urge you more than ever to do the same,” they continued.

“We are so deeply sorry to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us today, and we are devastated to be put in this position that upsets both us and you.”

The Mary Wallopers’ fellow Irish artists The Academic and Cliffords have also pulled out of the festival. The Academic said they “can’t in good conscience stand up and play at a festival that silences free speech and the right to express your views”, while Cliffords said, “we refuse to play if we are to be censored for showing our support to the people of Palestine”.

On Friday, Victorious told NME that “although a flag was displayed on stage contrary to our policy, and this was raised with the artist’s crew, the show was not ended at this point, and it was the artist’s decision to stop the song. The decision by the event management to cut the sound and end the performance was only taken after the band used a chant which is widely understood to have a discriminatory context.”

The festival has since posted a statement that said they “didn’t handle the explanation of our policies sensitively or far enough in advance to allow a sensible conclusion to be reached. This put the band and our own team in a difficult situation which never should have arisen. We would like to sincerely apologise to all concerned.”

Posted by Victorious Festival on Saturday, August 23, 2025

“We absolutely support the right of artists to freely express their views from the stage, within the law and the inclusive nature of the event,” they added. “Our policy of not allowing flags of any kind, which has been in place for many years for wider event management and safety reasons, is not meant to compromise that right.”

“We accept that, although mics remained live for longer, sound for The Mary Wallopers’ audience was cut as described in the band’s video and that comments after that were not audible to the public. We are sorry that this situation has come about and will be making a substantial donation to humanitarian relief efforts for the Palestinian people.”

Victorious is one of many festivals to be operated by Superstruct Entertainment, which is owned by the controversial global investment firm KKR, which has been criticised by many artists for its alleged stakes in weapons manufacturing companies and Israel corporations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Several other festivals that are backed by KKR have addressed their concerns about the connection. Tramlines said they would “never send them a single Euro”, while Mighty Hoopla stated their “clear opposition to KKR’s unethical investments”.

One group of 50 artists, which included Massive Attack and Brian Eno, signed an open letter urging Field Day to distance itself from KKR in May, while another 11 artists announced that they were boycotting the festival in solidarity with Palestine.

Victorious Festival is running on the Southsea seafront this weekend, with Kings Of Leon, Queens Of The Stone Age and Vampire Weekend topping the bill.
