EXCLUSIVE: Saiyami Kher Shares Excitement On Ghoomer’s Theatrical Re-Release; Reveals If She’ll Host A Special Screening For Indian Women Cricket Team After Historic Win

written by jummy84

Actress Saiyami Kher – who made her Bollywood debuted opposite Harshvardhan Kapoor in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s 2016 romantic fantasy Mirzya, is currently on cloud 9 as her film Ghoomer has re-released in theatres. During an exclusive telephonic conversation, the actress opened up about the theatrical re-release of the R Balki sports drama co-starring Abhishek Bachchan as well the Indian women’s cricket team winning the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, hosting a special screening of Ghoomer for the women in blue and more. Read on to know all she shared.

Saiyami Kher On Hoisting A Screening Of Ghoomer For Indian Women Cricket Team

When asked if Ghoomer producers or she will be hosting a special screening for the Indian Women’s Cricket team given their historic win at the recently held ICC Women’s World Cup, Saiyami Kher replied, “I totally agree. And we would have loved to do it. But most of the girls have already seen the film when it was released two years ago. Because I reached out to the girls then, and most of them have already seen it. So right now, I think they should be allowed to just celebrate, soaking in what they’ve done. And of course, the ones who haven’t watched them, we’re more than happy to host even just a private screening for them. But right now, they need to just celebrate what they’ve done.”

Saiyami On Attending The Women World Cup Finals

Talking about being in the stadium when the women lifted the trophy and her first reaction to them winning, the ‘Ghoomer’ actress shared, “Yes, I was. Well, I wouldn’t miss it for anything because it’s historic, and I was very happy to be a part of the history, and I didn’t miss the men’s 2011 World Cup, which happened in Mumbai, so why should I miss the women’s World Cup, which happened at the DY Patil.”

She continued, “I was supposed to be traveling to Italy with my parents but I made sure that the semi-final, final days I come back. However, on semi-finals day, I was shooting; but I wouldn’t have missed the finals for anything. It was so very special to see this happen. I actually took my dad and went to watch the game because we both watched the 2011 world cup together so just wanted to keep that superstition going (we won that world cup in 2011 so…). And the girls lifted the trophy so…”

Saiyami Kher On Meeting The Indian Women Cricket Team

Talking about interacting with them award ceremony, Saiyami shared, “It was genuinely very special because after we won, the stadium erupted and there was Maa Tujhe Salaam playing and there was Chake De playing and like full grown men were weeping and crying and the chants were like super loud like the men’s World Cup. I went and kind of spoke to the girls down after the post-match presentation and it was just incredible to be a part and be around there when they won.”

On the professional front, Saiyami Kher – who was last seen on the big screen as SI Vijaya Lakshmi in Sunny Deol’s Jaat, is currently filming Haiwaan, scheduled to release in 2026.

Baahubali The Epic box office collection day 1: SS Rajamouli and Prabhas’ two blockbusters, Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, re-released in theatres today as one film, titled Baahubali The Epic. The film received positive reviews from audiences and also took a bumper opening.

Baahubali The Epic is a re-edited re-release of the two Baahubali films packaged as one.

Baahubali The Epic box office performance

According to Sacnilk, Baahubali The Epic collected ₹7.88 crore on day 1 at the domestic box office. The film has not only surpassed the opening day haul of previous re-releases such as Vijay’s Ghilli (reportedly ₹4.87 crore) and Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja (reportedly ₹5.75 crore), but it has also exceeded the day-one collections of recent blockbusters like Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra ( ₹2.71 crore) and Dragon ( ₹6.5 crore).

About Baahubali The Epic

Baahubali: The Epic is a remastered version of filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s two-part magnum opus — Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). The combined film, re-released in cinemas on 31 October 2025, is backed by Arka Media Works. The re-edited version runs for approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes, with select sequences trimmed. Featuring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles, the epic chronicles the story of Mahishmati, its power struggles, and the rise of the valiant warrior, Amarendra Baahubali.

The film opened to overwhelmingly positive responses from audiences and critics. The re-release isn’t confined to Indian theatres — it has been re-released across more than 1,150 cinemas worldwide, including over 400 screens in the US, 210 in the UK and Ireland, and numerous venues in the UAE, Australia, and Southeast Asia.

Annapurna Studios’ CTO, CV Rao, the man behind the transformation of two films into a 3-hour-44-minute-long spectacle, told Hindustan Times, “When Baahubali first came out, each film took us four months of post-production. It took us approximately 10 weeks, or around two months, to complete the project this time around. But the bigger challenge for us was to deliver the output in multiple formats.”

“Everything a blockbuster should be!” It’s time to watch them battle (again)! Variance Films & Arka have launched final trailers for Baahubali: The Epic, a remastered + recut version of the two-part Baahubali epic series of movies. Arriving in theaters worldwide THIS weekend. Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who later went on to make the world-shattering RRR, he also directed these two massive action movies Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Now he’s combined both into one big film, bringing together footage from both with technical enhancements and previously unseen scenes added in. When a lost prince is rescued and raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder and his mother’s imprisonment, and will rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Yes he will! Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Epic stars Prabhas in dual roles, with Rana Daggubati, Anushka, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. For the uninitiated, these movies are totally awesome – as epic as anything can ever be. And this is a proper exciting, thrilling, spectacular big screen experience following a riveting story about this prince. Enjoy it in theaters.

Here’s the final official trailers (+ poster) for S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Epic, direct from YouTube:

Now, the epic tale of royalty, revenge, kings, and wars has been personally re-edited by the master himself into a single unforgettable cinematic experience, with fully remastered picture and sound (and a few new surprises), so audiences can reunite to experience the euphoria the way it was intended: on the big screen. When a lost prince (Prabhas) is rescued & raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder and his mother’s imprisonment, and must rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Baahubali: The Epic (aka Bahubali) is directed by acclaimed Indian filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, his 10th feature film at the time – he later directed RRR in 2022. This is pretty much India’s Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (also finally getting released this year). Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, who later went on to make the world-shattering RRR, directed these original two action movies Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Give it a shot and experience a real epic like no other on the BIGGEST screens around – including IMAX worldwide.

“The closest fans can get without being arrested.” Get ready for another spectacular concert experience! IMAX is re-releasing one of their original IMAX concert docs again on the big screen in theaters December. First released in 1991, Rolling Stones – At the Max is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX cameras. “At the Max was always about bringing fans as close as possible to the energy of our live shows. With IMAX, that experience is bigger, louder, and more immersive than ever—we can’t wait for audiences to feel it all over again.” –The Rolling Stones. The film, which has not been in theaters since 2007, has already made $17 million worldwide before. Packed with career-defining performances of iconic hits including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Brown Sugar,” “Start Me Up,” and more, the film puts audiences at the heart of the crowd, where every moment is enhanced by IMAX’s unmatched scale and sound. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman. While it’s a common occurrence nowadays, it’s actually pretty cool to think about this being the very first concert doc they shot with actual IMAX film cameras and IMAX film stock (it was a big thing in the 90s – often screening at science museums). And now it’ll be even bigger & louder than ever! Go rock out with the Rolling Stones again in theaters this December.

First released in 1991, the critically acclaimed film is the first and only concert feature shot with IMAX film cameras. Starring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman, the film has been newly remastered with IMAX’s proprietary Digital Media Remastering (DMR) technology and features a brand-new sound mix—delivering the most immersive and electrifying presentation of this legendary performance to date. Rolling Stones – At the Max is a live concert doc co-directed by the filmmakers Noel Archambault, David Douglas, Roman Kroitor, and Julien Temple. Executive produced by André Picard and Michael Cohl. The IMAX movie was originally released in theaters in June 1992, and was also re-released again in 2007. Karan Johar Backs Aanand L Rai After Raanjhanaa Producers Alter Ending With AI In Re-Release

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Karan Johar has voiced his support for filmmaker Aanand L Rai following the re-release of Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered ending, emphasising that the director’s consent should have been obtained beforehand. In August, the film was re-released in theatres—not as a standard re-release, but with the ending modified using artificial intelligence. This decision sparked controversy within the industry, with Rai expressing his disappointment over the change to a “happy ending” without his approval. The film’s lead actor, Dhanush, also criticised the move.

Karan Johar Backs Aanand L Rai After Raanjhanaa Producers Alter Ending With AI

Karan Johar spoke out in support of Anand L Rai during an appearance on Komal Nahta’s YouTube show Game Changers. When asked about who should have the authority to re-release a film with modifications, he said, “This should now be contractual. If the producer owns 100% of the film, then he/she has the right to do whatever they want. But he/she has to have the moral dilemma about it. Today, also I own every IP, but if I have to do anything to the film, I call the director of the film. So when it’s not contractual, it has to be moral. Agar aapki morality nahi hai, agar aap ek director ke vision ko badal rahe ho, release kar rahe without his/her consent, then that is not right.”

(If you don’t have morality, if you’re changing a director’s vision and releasing the film without his/her consent, then that is not right).

He further added, “His job is to call Aanand L. Rai jiski vision thi voh, jiski wajah se aap yeh kar rahe ho aaj, it’s your moral responsibility. You should call everybody who made that film special. It’s the right thing to do. Aur kya hi ukhaad liya aapne change karke. Aisa nahi hai ki uss film ka bahut bada business hua. Because it’s inauthentic. AI has to be used for its absolute worth. Jo natural hai voh zyada chalega (You should call Aanand L. Rai — it was his vision, and he’s the reason you’re able to do this today. What did you even achieve by changing it? It’s not as if the film made huge business. Because it’s inauthentic. AI should only be used where it truly adds value. What’s natural will always work better).”

About the AI-Altered Ending

Raanjhanaa centres on Kundan (Dhanush), who falls in love with Zoya (Sonam Kapoor), a Muslim girl. In the original climax, Kundan is shot at a rally and later dies in the hospital. However, in the AI version re-released in Tamil, Kundan survives.

Aanand L Rai On Raanjhanaa’s AI-Altered Ending

Rai expressed his deep disappointment in a statement, saying, “People connected with Raanjhanaa because of its flaws and imperfections. To see its ending changed without any discussion is a gross violation—not just of the film, but of the trust of the fans who have carried it in their hearts for 12 years.”

Eros On Raanjhanaa’s AI-Altered Ending

The studio responded, claiming they are the “sole and exclusive copyright holders” of the film and that the re-release was “offered as an addition, not a replacement, of the original.” Rai responded to the controversy in an interview. He said, “Machines can’t create films. The tragedy was part of Raanjhanaa’s DNA. You can’t just rewrite its soul.”

Raanjhanaa was released in 2012.

Yet another totally rad, extra badass, wacky fun 80s movie that is worth watching sometime if you’ve never seen it before. “It’s going to be 1985 all over again in movie theaters across the country when Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon returns to cinemas nationwide October 19, 20 and 22 for the first time in 40 years.” Don’t feel old, though! Instead… dance to the beat of the rhythm of the night and catch the glow of this inimitable combination of action, comedy, music and kung fu, a movie that an entire generation of fans has never seen on the big screen.” In New York City, a young man searches for a Master to obtain the final level of martial arts mastery known as the Glow. Starring Taimak, Vanity, and Julius Carry, Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon also features notable names like Chazz Palminteri, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Queen Esther Marrow and, one of his earliest film roles, William H. The Last Dragon is directed by Michael Schultz, his 12th feature film at the time after making Krush Groove (1985) and before Disorderlies (1987). The screenplay is written by Louis Venosta. “25 years later – the wound is still alive.” Mubi has revealed a brand new 25th anniversary re-release trailer for the iconic, indie classic Amores Perros, the first feature by Mexican director Alejandro G. Iñárritu. This initially premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors Fortnight sidebar, launching the career of Iñárritu who would go on to win Oscars and make a handful of all-timer movies. An amateur dog fighter, a supermodel, & worn out assassin, all separately struggling to find love, find their lives transformed by a devastating car wreck in Mexico City. The film stars Emilio Echevarría, Gael García Bernal, Goya Toledo, Álvaro Guerrero, Vanessa Bauche, Jorge Salinas, Adriana Barraza, Humberto Busto. The film’s official title is a pun in Spanish; the word “perros”, which literally means “dogs”, can also be used to refer to misery, so that it roughly means “bad loves” with canine connotations. The film was released under its Spanish title in the English-speaking world, although it was sometimes translated as Love’s a Bitch in marketing. The soundtrack includes songs by Latin American rock bands including Café Tacuba, Control Machete, and Illya Kuryaki & the Valderramas. This new 4K version was restored from the 35 mm original camera negative, which was scanned in 16-bit 4K resolution. The color & final grading was supervised and approved by director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, as well as director of photography Rodrigo Prieto. View it below.

Here’s the re-release trailer (+ poster) for Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s 2000 film Amores Perros, via YouTube:

Amores Perros Trailer 25th Anniversary

Amores Perros Trailer 25th Anniversary

A fatal car crash in Mexico City sets off a chain of events in the lives of 3 people: a supermodel, a young man wanting to run off with his sister-in-law, and a homeless man. They are catapulted into unforeseen situations instigated by the seemingly inconsequential destiny of a dog. As a groundbreaking moment for early 2000s Mexican cinema and winner of the Grand Prize at the 2000 Festival de Cannes Critics Week, Amores Perros retains its full and undiminished power. Let us meet with Alejandro G. Iñárritu to celebrate the anniversary of his first film. Amores Perros is directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu (aka Alejandro González Iñárritu), his very first feature film at the time before going on to make 21 Grams (2003). The screenplay is written by Guillermo Arriaga Jordán. Also produced by Iñárritu. This initially premiered at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, and also played at NYFF that year, then didn’t open in theaters until the next year – starting in March 2001. The film recently premiered again as a restoration at this year’s Cannes. Mubi will re-release Iñárritu’s Amores Perros in select theaters starting in early October – and will be streaming on Mubi starting October 24th, 2025 coming soon this fall. Any fans of this film?

New Trailer for ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ 4K Re-Release for its 40th Anniversary

“All I can remember… is the seven of us always together.” Sony Pictures has revealed a brand new trailer to celebrate the 40th Anniversary re-release of the 80s classic film St. Elmo’s Fire, a story about life and love and friendship made by Joel Schumacher. This is a big favorite among Gen Xers, an important film for the time – first released in June 1985. The Brat Pack is BACK. Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of St. Elmo’s Fire, newly restored in 4K and back in select theaters starting on October 17th this fall. A group of friends, just out of college, struggle with adulthood. Seven friends – Alec, Billy, Jules, Kevin, Kirby, Leslie, Wendy – are trying to navigate through life & their friendships following graduation from Washington DC’s Georgetown University while often at their ol’ dive known as St. Elmo’s Bar. Starring Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Mare Winningham, Andie MacDowell. Critics don’t seem to like this film much. One review states that the film reminds “us that the eighties were far, far worse than any of us can recall today, and by helping these monsters get their careers off the ground, we will be paying for our sins for decades to come.” Ouch! They’re not so bad. Anyone else enjoy this movie?

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Joel Schumacher’s film St. Elmo’s Fire, direct from YouTube:

St. Elmo's Fire Poster

The hottest young actors of the day star in this film about seven friends, recent college grads, searching for a place in “the real world,” as they face the issues of career & commitment. Leslie & Alex (Ally Sheedy & Judd Nelson) try to save a crumbling romance. Wendy (Mare Winningham), a shy virgin, hides a love for Billy (Rob Lowe), a reluctant father still searching for goals. Kevin (Andrew McCarthy) is a cynical writer who scorns love until he realizes he’s in love with his best friend’s girl. Kirbo (Emilio Estevez), law student, obsessively pursues an older woman. The beautiful, neurotic Jules (Demi Moore) paints a poignant picture of life in the fast lane. Against the backdrop of St. Elmo’s, their local hang-out, they save, betray and love one another as only the closest friends can. St. Elmo’s Fire is directed by filmmaker Joel Schumacher, his sixth feature film at the time after making D.C. Cab (1983) and before making The Lost Boys (1987). The screenplay is by Joel Schumacher & Carl Kurlander. This first opened in theaters in late June, 1985 during the summer – earning a solid $37M at the box office during its run. Sony will re-release Schumacher’s St. Elmo’s Fire film in 4K in select US theaters starting October 17th, 2025 this fall. Any big fans of this one?
