Karan Johar reveals his dream cast for a modern remake of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

In 1998, Dharma Productions saw success when Karan Johar made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. The film achieved phenomenal blockbuster status, reviving the studio and solidifying its position in Bollywood. This success was followed by Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and the achievements ahead are well-known.

Approximately three decades later, Karan was asked about his casting choices for the modern-day Rahul, Anjali, and Tina if Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were to be remade today. During a conversation with Sania Mirza for Myntra’s Glam Stream, Karan shared his thoughts. He said, “I think Alia would be an absolutely great Anjali. I think Ranveer Singh would be a great Rahul, and Ananya would be a great Tina.”

To this, Sania replied, “And none of them would actually be acting that much,” to which Karan responded, “I think it would be a great pairing.” Karan added, “I think Tina could be Ananya, Janhvi, Sara — it could be any of the younger nepo babies.”

Amused by the comment, Sania asked, “Have you ever launched someone because their parents told you to?” Karan firmly replied, “No. I knew their parents, but no parent ever called me and said, ‘Launch my kid.’ Never. Not once.”

When Sania noted that many people might not believe him due to his image, Karan clarified, “I know they are nepo babies. I know their parents. I’ve seen them grow up in front of me. But none of their parents have ever called me — I have always been the one to call. And let me tell you, I’ve even been refused a few times.”

Karan, however, has not directed any of the new generation of nepo babies. Ananya, Janhvi, and Sara, however, appeared briefly in his recent directorial film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani for the song Heart Throb.

The Running Man review: Glen Powell proves a charismatic hero in Edgar Wright’s patchy remake

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

The Running Man is in cinemas from Wednesday 12 November. Add it to your watchlist

On-the-rise action man Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters) takes on a role originally played on screen by his Expendables 3 co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger in this explosive, big-budget remake of the 1987 thriller.

Set in a dystopian, totalitarian United States where violent television programmes have become the opium of the people, the original film was based on a 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his Richard Bachman pseudonym), but co-writer/director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Last Night in Soho) has opted to stay even closer to the source material for his adaptation.

So, instead of Arnie’s Ben Richards being a cop coerced to participate in the game, Powell’s Richards is a working-class Everyman living in an overcrowded slum, whose frustration with his inability to hold down a job and look after his waitress wife and their ailing toddler forces him to volunteer for the financially lucrative if lethal Running Man TV show.

Avoid capture for 30 days and $1 billion is the ultimate reward. However, contestants are also hunted across the United States by an elite team of assassins led by a merciless masked mystery man. The action is televised to an audience happy to dob them in to the authorities for a slice of the financial pie, all under the auspices of ever-smirking network CEO and smug puppet-master Dan Killian (Josh Brolin).

Killian and motor-mouthed MC Bobby T (Colman Domingo) consider Richards a ratings winner, especially when he continues to evade his murderous pursuers and their ever-present drone cameras, and then survives by the skin of his teeth when they do get close, as in one fiery encounter at a down-at-heel Boston hotel. However, could Richards’s resilience and apoplectic defiance inspire something other than bloodlust from viewers and threaten their best-laid corporate plans?

No stranger to delivering breakneck action (Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver), Wright produces plenty of nerve-jangling, kinetic set-pieces, whether it is a deadly game of chicken on a bridge or the climactic airborne stand-off. The fact the deadly contest takes place across the US (rather than a murky underground labyrinth as seen in the 1987 movie) also expands the scope of the story, revealing an America riven by economic inequality and manipulated by a self-satisfied few who have no qualms about using fake news to control the narrative.

A similar theme fuels The Long Walk – released earlier this year, and also based on an early King story – in which televised survival of the fittest is used to distract ordinary folk from their impoverished plight. It’s the type of allegory that Wright’s director idol George A Romero (of Night of the Living Dead fame) would have applauded.

However, the episodic nature of the plot, with Richards having to don a variety of disguises to lay low and avoid recognition, occasionally leads to a lull in the pace and a lessening of tension.

Nevertheless, Powell proves to be a charismatic hero, bristling with anger but also able to stay alive thanks to his own ingenuity and much-needed assistance from those he meets on his travels, such as cameoing William H Macy, Emilia Jones (CODA) and Michael Cera (star of Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs the World), whose mercurial rebel lives in an elaborately booby-trapped bolt-hole worthy of Rambo.

Oh, and regarding cameos, keep your eyes peeled for a left-field appearance from Schwarzenegger himself.

‘Halo’ is finally coming to PlayStation with original remake

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

For the first time in its 24-year history, Halo will soon be available on PlaySation consoles thanks to a remake of the original game.

Halo: Combat Evolved was released in 2001 as an Xbox exclusive. The first-person shooter inspired a number of sequels and spin-offs, but was never playable on a rival console.

However on Friday (October 24) it was confirmed that Halo Studios would be releasing a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved – and that it will be available on the PlayStation 5 at some point in 2026.

“The original Halo: Combat Evolved is a stalwart of gaming history, a cultural icon that helped define the first-person shooter experience. For Halo Studios, bottling the impact of that original campaign and all of its special moments is the ultimate goal – for new players and long-time fans alike,” said creators Halo Studios.

Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives in 2026.

Experience enhanced gameplay, additional missions, and new features on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

The “modern evolution” of Combat Evolved has been “thoughtfully brought to life” in Unreal Engine 5 with new 4K visuals, updated animations, remastered music and re-recorded voice lines. Halo Studios is also bringing in “a roster of beloved weapons and vehicles from later Halo titles, and adding three new bonus campaign missions, all designed to expand and celebrate  the adventure that started it all.”

The Halo: Campaign Evolved remake will also feature “expanded gameplay, two-player split-screen on consoles, online and networked co-op for up to four players on console and PC, and seamless cross-platform play with shared progression,” reads the official announcement. “It will be the definitive return trip through one of gaming’s greatest journeys.”

However the remake won’t feature the brilliant PvP multiplayer. “We’re not trying to replace what is a masterpiece in the original,” said executive producer Damon Conn in an interview with Windows Central. “We’re trying to basically make something that stands kind of shoulder to shoulder with it, using new tools, new energy, to get a little bit of a fresh take on some things, but honouring the legacy.”

Last October, Halo developers 343 Studios announced a rebrand as Halo Studios and confirmed “multiple” new titles were currently in development. And according to Halo Studios community director Brian Jarrard, all those titles will be available on Playstation. “It’s really a new era—Halo is on PlayStation going forward,”  he said during a livestream on Friday.

In other news, some of The Sims’ biggest streamers have quit the game in protest over the $55billion sale of publisher EA.

Deadly Santa Horror Remake ‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ Full Trailer

by Alex Billington

“Santa’s gonna slay!” Oh dang! 🎅🪓 This looks gnarly. Cineverse has revealed the main official trailer for the modern remake of horror cult classic Silent Night, Deadly Night – which is coming to disturb your holiday season this year. “In 1984, one film shocked audiences, was banned from theaters, and traumatized a generation. From the studio that brought you Terrifier 3, comes a new, and unrated, vision of the cult classic. This Christmas, spread the holiday fear.” Not for everyone! A child witnesses his parents’ murder by a man in a Santa suit. Years later, now as an adult, he dons a Santa costume himself and embarks on a violent quest for retribution against those responsible for the traumatic event in his childhood… Written & directed by Mike P. Nelson, this horror stars Rohan Campbell, Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. This freaky film is already set for release in December later in the year. It definitely looks like you have to put the kids to bed before you even consider watching it! Brutal.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Mike P. Nelson’s horror Silent Night, Deadly Night, on YouTube:

Silent Night, Deadly Night Teaser

You can rewatch the brief teaser trailer for the Silent Night, Deadly Night remake right here for a first look.

A reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic (directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr) – When Billy witnesses his parents’ grisly murder on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa, it ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear. Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and delivers a blood-soaked massacre to feed his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: “Have you been naughty?” 🎅 This new Silent Night, Deadly Night is both written and directed by American filmmaker Mike P. Nelson, a former sound mixer and director of the films Summer School, The Domestics, and Wrong Turn previously, plus a segment in VCR horror V/H/S/85. It’s produced by Erik Bernard, Scott Schneid, Jamie R. Thompson, Jeremy Torrie, Dennis Whitehead. Cineverse will be releasing this new Silent Night, Deadly Night update in select theaters starting on December 12th, 2025 at the end of the year. Ho ho ho. Anyone want to watch?

‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle’ Trailer: Maika Monroe in Remake

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Over the course of her career, Maika Monroe has emerged as one of our most reliable modern scream queens. Between “The Guest,” “It Follows,” “Watcher,” “Greta,” “Villains,” “Longlegs,” “Tau,” and many more, when you see her name in horror movie credits, you can usually bet that Monroe will be the blood-soaked final girl we’re all cheering for to the bitter end.

So that makes it all the more interesting that, for her next horror feature, a remake of Curtis Hanson’s 1992 horror hit “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” (which starred Rebecca De Mornay and Annabella Sciorra), Monroe is this time playing the baddie. Per the film‘s official synopsis: “Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Caitlin Morales, an upscale suburban mom who brings a new nanny, Polly Murphy (Maika Monroe), into her home, only to discover she is not the person she claims to be.”

'The Bride!'

If you’ve seen Hanson’s film or are at all familiar with its concept, you know that the nanny isn’t our sympathetic heroine here. She’s the one doing the rocking (of all kinds! physically, mentally, and emotionally!) and upending the lives of a seemingly nice and normal suburban family. What a delicious twist for Monroe.

The remake, directed by “Huesera: The Bone Woman” filmmaker Michelle Garza Cervera will arrive on Hulu just in time for Halloween. It also stars Raúl Castillo, Martin Starr, Mileiah Vega, Riki Lindhome, and Shannon Cochran, and is written by Micah Bloomberg based on a screenplay by Amanda Silver. The producers are Michael Schaefer, Mike LaRocca, and Ted Field, and the executive producers are Michael Napoliello, Maria Frisk, and Seth William Meier.

“The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” will start streaming on Hulu on Wednesday, October 22. Check out the film’s first trailer below.

Jean Dujardin in ‘The Incredible Shrinking Man’ French Remake Trailer

“Our life is fleeting… Tiny – that’s what we are.” Universal France has revealed two full official trailers for a brand new modern remake of the classic story about The Incredible Shrinking Man. From director Jan Kounen, this new French movie is called L’homme qui rétrécit (or just The Shrinking Man as there’s no other English title yet). Jean Dujardin stars in this remake / re-adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, which is directed by French filmmaker Jan Kounen, and will be released in France this October. It’s premiering first at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival in October – that’s how I found out about this one, since it has barely been mentioned over in the US so far. A shipbuilder named Paul living on the coast inexplicably begins to shrink, then gets trapped in his own basement, only once inch (a few cm) tall. He must fight for survival in now-hostile ordinary household environment. “The Shrinking Man is both a coming-of-age story and an adventure film.” Also starring Marie-Josée Croze and Daphné Richard. And with a new score by Alexandre Desplat. This looks damn good! Not as cheesy or as ridiculous as I was expecting. Of course, once he gets small, he battles his own cat and a very scary looking realistic spider. This looks terrifying! I’m definitely curious to check it out – I hope it’ll also play in the US not long after the French opening this fall.

Here’s two new French trailers for Jan Kounen’s movie The Incredible Shrinking Man, from YouTube:

The Incredible Shrinking Man Trailer

The Incredible Shrinking Man Poster

The Shrinking Man, a new adaptation of the cult novel, follows Paul, an ordinary man who divides his time between his shipbuilding business, his wife Elise, and their daughter Mia. During a trip out to sea, he encounters a strange & unexplained meteorological phenomenon. From then on, Paul begins to shrink inexorably, with science unable to explain why. When, by accident, he finds himself trapped in his own basement, measuring only a few centimeters tall, he must fight to survive in this ordinary environment that has become hostile. Paul is confronted with himself, his life force, the force that drives him to continue living & move forward toward the mystery. The Incredible Shrinking Man, or The Shrinking Man also known as L’homme qui rétrécit in French, is directed by Dutch-French filmmaker Jan Kounen, of many movies including The Broadsword, Soft, Het Virus, Gisele Kerozene, Vibroboy, Dobermann, Blueberry, 99 Frances, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, Vape Wave, Mère Océan, My Cousin previously. The screenplay is by Christophe Deslandes & Jan Kounen; based on Richard Matheson’s book published in 1956. Produced by Alain Goldman & Patrick Wachsberger. This is premiering at the 2025 Sitges Film Festival. It opens first in French cinemas starting on October 22nd, 2025. No US date is set yet – stay tuned. Thoughts? Intrigued?

Janhvi Kapoor is reportedly in discussions to lead the remake of her mother Sridevi’s legendary film Chaalbaaz, approaching the project with caution to avoid direct comparisons. Currently, Janhvi is observing the box office performance of her recent release, Param Sundari. The remake of Chaalbaaz, which originally featured her mother in a double role, was initially announced with Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, but the project did not move forward. Now, sources indicate that Janhvi may take on the role instead.

According to the Free Press Journal, a source close to the development shared, “For Janhvi, Chaalbaaz is a lot more than just a film. It’s an emotion. She has jumped onto the chance of playing the lead role in Chaalbaaz, but is treading this with utmost caution.” The source further added, “She is taking opinions from people around her for the Chaalbaaz remake. She is excited, but is also wary of all the comparisons. She is expected to take a call on the Chaalbaaz remake by the end of September.”

After Param Sundari, Janhvi Kapoor has an exciting lineup of projects. She is looking forward to the release of her next film, which also stars Varun Dhawan, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf. The teaser for this film was recently released and has received positive reviews from audiences. Lilo & Stitch (2025) Live-Action Remake Crosses $1 Billion at the Box Office

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Disney just hit another out-of-this-world milestone. The live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, making it one of the biggest successes of 2025. Fans around the world are celebrating, and it looks like this Hawaiian story has proven once again that “ohana means family.”

A Fresh Take on a Classic

The movie, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, brought beloved characters to life in a colorful and modern way. Stitch, the mischievous blue alien, stole the spotlight all over again. Newcomer Maia Kealoha, who plays Lilo, has become Hollywood’s newest star. Her performance perfectly blends sass, charm, and vulnerability.

The film strikes a balance between nostalgia and fresh storytelling. The original Lilo & Stitch from 2002 had a cult following, but this remake offers something new while introducing the story to younger audiences. The updated soundtrack, mixing Hawaiian influences with modern pop, is now topping streaming charts.

A Billion-Dollar Achievement

Disney’s live-action streak has had hits and misses, but Lilo & Stitch clearly landed in the win column. The billion-dollar milestone puts it alongside juggernauts like The Lion King and Aladdin. Unlike some remakes that felt like repeats, this film took risks with visuals and new story beats. Those bold choices are paying off.

Social Media and Pop Culture Buzz

TikTok users can’t get enough of Stitch’s chaotic energy. Fan edits of Lilo dancing have gone viral, and memes about Stitch as the summer’s new icon are flooding Instagram. Fashion brands are joining the fun with Stitch-inspired streetwear, already shaping up as the must-have fall look.

The Power of Heartfelt Stories

This success highlights the global demand for family-focused stories. In a world dominated by superhero films, Lilo & Stitch proves that heartfelt storytelling and bold visuals can still draw massive crowds. Disney is already teasing theme park expansions and merchandise drops tied to the film, showing Stitch’s cultural takeover is just starting.

What’s Next for Stitch?

For Hollywood watchers, this win is a big one. It signals that audiences want movies with heart, fun, and a touch of chaos exactly what Stitch delivers. If you missed the magic, it’s still in theaters worldwide. Streaming rumors suggest it could land on Disney+ before the holidays. For a look at more Hollywood buzz, check out the MTV VMAs 2025 Highlights.

With $1 billion already secured, one thing is clear: Stitch is no longer just an alien experiment. He’s a box office legend.

“My old friend… Come and get it!” Shout Studios has unveiled the official trailer for a throwback 80s movie remake titled Deathstalker, made by Canadian genre filmmaker extraordinaire Steven Kostanski (of The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman (PG), and Frankie Freako. This fall, return to the Kingdom of Abraxeon with Kostanski reimagining of Roger Corman’s cult sword & sorcery 80s film series, Deathstalker (which began back in 1983). Starring Daniel Bernhardt as the titular Deathstalker with Patton Oswalt providing the voice of the benevolent wizard Doodad, this action fantasy adventure feature. Also featuring Christina Orjalo, Paul Lazenby, and Nina Bergman. Hitting theaters this October. This reboot focuses on the fantasy setting, utilizing creature suits, prosthetic FX make-up and stop-motion animation from his Action Pants FX shop. Deathstalker must face the rising evil and take on the undead sorcerer Nekromemnon to stop his Dreadites from conquering the lands. This looks like Army of Darkness but riffing on these kind of epic sword & sorcery classics of olde. Honestly it totally looks like the perfect pizza & beer weekend flick.

Here’s the official trailer (+ two posters) for Steven Kostanski’s movie Deathstalker, direct from YouTube:

To survive, he must break the curse and confront the rising evil. Death is just the beginning… of great adventure! Deathstalker is written and directed by Canadian genre filmmaker Steven Kostanski, director of the gnarly fan-favorite genre films Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman (PG), and Frankie Freako previously, plus episodes of the rebooted “Day of the Dead” series recently.
