IFC Gives Dog-POV Horror Movie ‘Good Boy’ Wide Release Oct. 3

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Looks like someone may be barking his way to box-office glory.

IFC just expanded the October 3 theatrical run of Ben Leonberg’s SXSW hit “Good Boy” from limited to a full wide release. Told entirely from the dog’s point of view, the 72-minute horror film stars Leonberg’s Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Indy. The exact number of screens is yet to be determined, but IFC is bullish on its mass appeal. It’s a title that can also follow in the footsteps of several other recent successes from the company.

Rebranded as Independent Film Company (IFC) earlier this year, IFC now seems to have a bona fide hit on its hands. Since the trailer’s debut August 18, it has racked up 1 million views (with another 1.5 million views for the trailer as posted on IGN’s account).

'Honey Don't!'

(Also: Since the trailer dropped, searches for “Does the dog in Good Boy die?” spiked by more than 2,000 percent.)

Google search traffic from users concerned about the dog’s ultimate fate.

“We’re a bespoke company and we really pay attention to what people want to see,” Scott Shooman, head of IFC Entertainment Group (which oversees IFC, Shudder, and RLJE Films), told IndieWire. “Last year was our second-best theatrical year ever and we want to continue that. We see an opportunity as the studios are moving to three- and four-quadrant business for the indies to try and find interesting, noisy product and try to make it as big as possible.”

“Good Boy” has a playbook to follow: IFC’s “Late Night with the Devil” and “In a Violent Nature” both reached around 1,400 screens in 2024, grossing $10 million and $4.2 million, respectively. They’re also the number #4 and #16 on the list of highest-grossing films in IFC’s history.

The top spot on that list is occupied by 2002’s “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with an untouchable $241 million box office. However, Shooman indicated he doesn’t consider it to be a true IFC movie since it only handled distribution in a service deal. That would make the second title on that list, Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood,” with its $25 million gross as IFC’s biggest hit.

After former president Arianna Bocco left the company in March 2023, Shooman was installed shortly thereafter. Since then, the company sunset its genre imprint IFC Midnight in favor of the company’s streamer, Shudder, which now represents all of the company’s horror content. “Good Boy” will bear both the IFC and Shudder logos, but its streaming date is TBD.

“We have different windows for different types of films, and we’re working on that for ‘Good Boy’ as we speak,” Shooman said. “We never want to pre-announce a date prematurely. What we can say is we hope everyone sees it in theaters on October 3rd, and that’s really where we’re pointing people right now.”

“Good Boy” may follow in the footsteps of the R-rated “Late Night with the Devil” and the unrated “In a Violent Nature,” but it also is something that those gory movies were not. “It’s a PG-13 film,” Shooman said. “I don’t think there’s any age limit on loving dogs.”

Shooman is confident that audiences will continue to awww when they learn more about how Leonberg made the film. “It’s exactly the story of how you’d want an independent movie to have come together,” he said. “Ben made it with his own dog. This is his dog! This is not a stage dog, and it’s just like this is the magic and why we all got into this business.”

Additional reporting by Brian Welk.

“Good Boy” releases in theaters from IFC on Friday, October 3.

She continued, “So many opinions, in fact, that even I have a hard time figuring out what to buy at the grocery store. Then, when I get home, I’m usually too tired to spend a lot of time cheffing things up. ‘Kitchen Curious’ covers all those bases. I visit, shop, and spend time with certified experts. I go to ground zero of the questions we all have when we cook.”

With stops in Charleston, S.C., North Carolina, California and Paris, “Kitchen Curious” was created to blend storytelling, travel and practical cooking tips to inspire viewers and deepen their appreciation for foods.

BigXthaPlug Arrested on Marijuana, Drug Charges After Album Release

by jummy84 August 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Back in his hometown of Dallas, rapper BigXthaPlug was hosting a release party for his third studio album, I Hope You’re Happy, his take on country. But just hours later, though, at 2:20 a.m. on Friday, X, born Xavier Landum, was arrested and booked on charges of marijuana possession (less than two ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm, per People, who reviewed Dallas County Jail records. BigX’s representatives did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone’s request for comment.

I Hope You’re Happy follows massive successes for BigX. Though he broke through as a soul-sampling rapper with the now-platinum album Take Care, in April, he scored a Number One hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs with “All the Way” alongside Bailey Zimmerman. I Hope You’re Happy features Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett, Ella Langley, and more. Just today, the rapper’s music video for the Jelly Roll collaboration “Box Me Up” premiered.

Trending Stories

“This album’s my heart, my story — the love, the loss, the heartbreak, the grind,” BigXthaPlug said in a press release. “I wanted people to feel it all with me, the highs, the lows, the real life that shapes you. I Hope You’re Happy is me mixing my urban roots with that country soul, tellin’ my story straight up, just me.”

In October, the rapper told Rolling Stone his breakthrough Take Care was motivated by his drive to provide for his two children. “I got to make it to where when my kids my age, they don’t want for shit,” he said. “And the only way to do that is by being where I’m at right now, doing what we doing right now.

‘Office’ Spinoff ‘The Paper’ Getting Binge Release on Peacock

by jummy84 August 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Peacock is changing the release schedule for its Office follow-up The Paper.

The NBCUniversal-owned streamer says it will make the comedy a binge release, debuting the full 10-episode season on Sept. 4. The Paper had previously been slated to roll out over four weeks, with the first four episodes coming on the premiere day and two per week after that through Sept. 25.

Citing positive responses from people who have previewed the series (though not in print; reviews are embargoed until closer to the premiere), Peacock, Universal Television and the show’s producers decided to make the change and drop the entire season at once. The move will also put the entirety of The Paper in front of audiences several weeks before the start of the traditional TV season makes the premiere calendar even more crowded.

The Paper is set in the same world as The Office, with the documentary crew that filmed the workers of Dunder Mifflin taking on a new subject. It stars Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, the new editor of the Toledo Truth-Teller, a historic Ohio newspaper that has fallen on hard time. Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key and Oscar Nuñez — reprising his Office role — also star. Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim and Tracy Letts have guest roles. Ikumelo, Edelman, Rahill and Welch are also writers on the series.

Greg Daniels, who created the American Office, and Michael Koman co-created The Paper. They executive produce with The Office creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas.

Oasis Release Live ‘Wonderwall’ From Dublin, Plan Limited Ticket Release

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

With just a few days to go before Oasis kick off the North American run of their Live ’25 reunion tour in Toronto, the band offered fans two surprise gifts on Wednesday (Aug. 20). The first was a live rendition of their beloved 1995 single “Wonderwall” from one of their recent shows in Dublin, Ireland, where the band returned to perform for the first time since 2008.

The footage from Croke Park finds singer Liam Gallagher crooning the yearning ballad in fine voice in one of his signature anoraks over a hoodie, which he has pulled up tight over his head so his eyes are barely visible. Brother/songwriter Noel Gallagher provides the propulsive acoustic guitar backing as he gazes out at a massive stadium lit up by fans’ waving cellphone flashlights.

In addition, they posted a “Postcards from Dublin” compilation video of their double-down on Aug. 16 and 17, with film of a young fan in homemade Oasis shirt and bucket hat selling waters outside the venue, a man in official gear holding up his baby in matching shirt and hat, the excitement outside the venue as well as the earth-shaking, full stadium hopping up and down from the crowd inside and clips from several songs.

So far, the band has offered up a number of live tracks from the reunion shows in the U.K. and Ireland, including “Slide Away” from the kick-off in Cardiff, Wales, as well as “Cigarettes & Alcohol” from their home town of Manchester and “Little By Little” from their London run.

But perhaps the biggest gift of all is a note that went up on Wednesday announcing that some last-minute seats for the North American shows will be released in the coming days. According to a post, “as the North American shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned. These final production releases will happen over the coming days.”

That’s great news for those who haven’t yet scored tickets as the North American run is slated to kick off on Sunday (Aug. 24) at Rogers Stadium in Toronto — where the band will play again on Monday (Aug. 25) — before moving on to Soldier Field in Chicago (Aug. 28), then MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (Aug. 31, Sept. 1), the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. (Sept. 6, 7) and Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City (Sept. 12, 13); Cage the Elephant will open all the North American dates, with Cast joining for the N.J. and California shows.

Find out how to score those tickets below.

Saba Azad and Soni Razdan will star in the highly-awaited musical drama Songs of Paradise. The producers released a motion poster on social media today, alongside the announcement that the film will be out on Amazon Prime Video on August 29.

Both Saba and Soni posted the motion poster on Instagram with the caption: “From the whispers of Kashmir, emerges an unforgettable voice. #SongsOfParadiseOnPrime, Aug 29.”

Songs of Paradise captures the life and legacy of a great singer, Noor Begum, played by Saba Azad and Soni Razdan in two parallel timelines. The film is based on the life of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, the first woman to sing on Radio Kashmir.

Director and writer Danish Renzu said in an official press release: “Songs of Paradise is a touching tribute to Raj Begum. It is an emotionally charged tale based on her music, legacy, and her courage during a period when women were bounded by emotional and cultural barriers.”

An Ensemble Cast and Rich Cultural Heritage

The movie also features Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Taaruk Raina, and Lillete Dubey, giving it a richer narrative. Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment opined, “It is a timeless tale of a champion and torchbearer for artists from the culturally rich land of Kashmir.”

Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson are coming back, but it’s a brand-new game behind the scenes of televised news. The Morning Show season 4 is officially set to premiere on Apple TV+ this fall, and fans are eager to see what unfolds for Emmy nominees Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon‘s characters following season 3’s cliffhanger.

Hollywood Life has rounded up all the details you need to know about the forthcoming season of TMS below.

The Morning Show Season 4 Release Date

Season 4 of The Morning Show is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on September 17, 2025. The season will consist of 10 episodes, with new episodes released weekly every Friday through November 19, 2025.

The September 2025 premiere date aligns with earlier comments from showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, who hinted during PaleyFest in April 2024 that the new season would arrive “after the election,” referring to the 2024 U.S. presidential race. “The show will be out after the election,” she told Entertainment Tonight at the time, adding that the team wanted to explore the story “in an interesting way without being predictive.” As Comic Book Resources noted, the timeline also remains consistent with those of previous seasons.

Executive producer Mimi Leder also teased that season 4 would shift in tone. “What I would say is, last season was about what is the truth, and this could be about, who do you trust?” she said.

What Is the Plot for Season 4 of The Morning Show?

According to Apple TV’s official synopsis, season 4 “opens in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season three. With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups — who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real?”

In addition to Jennifer and Reese, returning cast members include Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, Billy Crudup and Greta Lee.

What Happened in Season 3 of The Morning Show?

Season 3 ended with Alex turning on Jon Hamm‘s character, investor Paul Marks, and pitching the merger of UBA and their rival, NBN, to save the network. Paul was about to destroy the news division. As for Bradley, she turned herself in to the FBI, confessing to aiding her brother get away with his involvement in the January 6 insurrection. Bradley deleted the footage she captured of her brother in the Capitol building, assaulting a police officer.

Alex and Bradley’s careers and personal lives pulled them apart, but they ended season 3 on a positive note as Alex walked Bradley into the FBI building.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead for Alien: Earth episodes 1 and 2.

Alien: Earth has emerged as one of the buzziest shows of the year to date, wowing viewers with its high production value, atmospheric sequences and weighty sci-fi concepts.

So far, the first episode of the series has attracted more than 9 million views across Disney Plus and Hulu (according to Variety), with that number expected to grow as the hype continues to build.

The series stars Sugar’s Sydney Chandler in the lead role of Wendy – a human child’s consciousness in a synthetic adult body – who finds herself on a collision course with the franchise’s iconic monsters.

Fargo writer Noah Hawley has opted to largely ignore major canon changes from Prometheus, in favour of having free rein to imagine his own dystopian vision of the future.

If you can’t get enough of the ambitious new drama, here’s everything you need to know about when new episodes of Alien: Earth are out on Disney Plus.

When is Alien: Earth episode 4 released on Disney+?

The love for Scream reached new heights after the release of Scream VI. In its opening weekend, Scream VI broke the franchise record by making $67 million at the box office and was the second film featuring a new generation of stars, including Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

In November 2023, Melissa was removed from the cast of Scream VII. The actress was fired from the film over her comments regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. One day later, it was revealed that Jenna would not be returning for Scream 7 because she left the project.

That month, the original final girl, Neve Campbell, confirmed that she will be starring in the next film, reprising her role as Sidney Prescott.

So what does all of this mean for Scream 7? Hollywood Life is breaking down everything we know about the sequel below.

Is There Going To Be A Seventh ‘Scream’ Movie?

Yes, Scream VII is officially on. The fifth Scream movie was released in January 2022. After it became a box office success, Scream 6 quickly got the green light. The sixth Scream movie filmed quickly took place from June to August 2022. Scream 7 was delayed due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023.

Does ‘Scream 7’ Have a Release Date Yet?

Yes, Scream VII is set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.

Who Is in ‘Scream 7’ Cast?

Following Scream VI‘s success, everyone assumed Scream 7 would feature the return of Scream’s “Core Four,” which includes Jenna as Tara, Melissa as Sam, Mason as Chad, and Jasmin as Mindy. They all managed to survive their latest round with Ghostface.

However, the Core Four is now the “Core Two” after Melissa was fired and Jenna left the project. Only Jasmin and Mason are returning after Scream VI.

Melissa was fired a month before the news broke after she shared social media posts regarding the war in Gaza. Prior to her firing, her deal to return for Scream VII had reportedly been finalized.

“Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech,” Spyglass, the production company behind Scream, said in a statement regarding Melissa’s removal.

Spyglass boss Gary Barber supposedly doesn’t believe that “stars nor large salaries are essential” for the success of the Scream franchise. “He didn’t need Neve, he doesn’t need Jenna,” an insider told THR. Scream 7 was reportedly going to be the “end of a rumored trilogy focused on the two Carpenter sisters.” While some insiders believe the future of the franchise is in “shambles” and “very raw,” a full-scale reboot could be on the horizon.

Hayden Panettiere’s long-awaited return as Kirby Reed paved the way for more of the beloved character in the future. She was stabbed again by Ghostface, but she survived. She told Tara and Sam to call her if they “ever” needed anything. Kirby was the perfect bridge between the original legacy characters and the newbies. So, fans are hoping Hayden will reprise her role in the seventh installment.

Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers also survived another brutal attack by Ghostface. Courteney is the only original Scream character to have appeared in all six films so far, and she’s in the seventh movie.

Matthew Lillard eventually revealed that he’s finally reprising his role as Stu Macher in Scream 7! In March 2025, news broke that David Arquette, known for his role as Deputy Dewey Riley, who died in the fifth film, would be reprising his role.

As with all previous Scream films, a new batch of supporting characters would be introduced in Scream 7.

Newcomers in the seventh movie include McKenna Grace and Anna Camp.

Will Neve Campbell Return For ‘Scream 7’?

Following her absence from the sixth movie, Neve announced that she signed on to reprise her role as Sidney for Scream VII.

“Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!” she wrote in an Instagram post in March 2024. “It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the ‘Scream’ movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

She continued, “While I’ve been so incredibly lucky to make these films with both the master of horror Wes Craven and the wonderfully talented Matt and Tyler team, I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Elisabeth McGowan Kevin Williamson at the helm. And now, it’s happening. Kevin Williamson is going to direct Scream 7! This was his baby and it’s his brilliant mind that dreamt up this world. Kevin is not just an inspiration as an artist but has been a dear friend for many years. To the amazing Scream fans, I hope you are as excited as I am. See you on set @kevwilliamson.”

The Scream world was shocked in June 2022 when Neve revealed that she would not be returning as Sidney Prescott in Scream VI.

“Sadly, I won’t be making the next Scream film,” Neve said in a statement. “As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

Neve’s absence was felt in Scream 6. She was mentioned briefly after the latest set of Ghostface attacks. Gale revealed that Sidney wouldn’t be coming to New York. Sidney and Mark took their kids to a safe spot to hide out from Ghostface.

Is Stu Macher Alive?

That’s the million-dollar question. OG killer Stu was seemingly killed in the first Scream movie after being stabbed and electrocuted when a television falls on his head. However, a legion of Scream fans are holding out hope that Stu somehow survived and has been living in hiding for all this time.

Scream 5 featured Stu’s nephew briefly, but he was killed quickly by Ghostface. The big showdown went down at Stu Macher’s old house just like in the original.

Scream 6 directly referenced Stu Macher. At the Ghostface shrine warehouse, the Core Four and others came face-to-face with key items from past killings, including the TV that supposedly killed Stu. When Kirby brings up the TV that killed Stu, Mindy quipped, “If you believe he’s dead.”

Scream’s original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, has said that Stu is dead dead. “No, he’s dead. I think that started because of the college scene, the frat party scene because he’s standing in the background. He just came to visit set that night,” he told Collider.

The latest Scream team isn’t so concrete about Stu’s fate. “There’s no good answer, so I will never confirm or deny stuff like that,” James Vanderbilt told Variety. Producer William Sherak added, “Anything’s possible.” Producer Paul Neinstein also said, “Characters can come in and out! There’s different ways to do it. It’s such a part of all of their lives; they have an affinity for Scream.”

Even if Stu is dead, he could come back as Skeet Ulrich’s Billy Loomis, who has appeared in the latest two films in Sam’s head. If Stu somehow is still alive, that would be the ultimate twist. Scream 7 could follow the theme of Scream 3: the past can always comes back to bite you.

With Matthew’s return though, it is up in the air how these roles will be dealt with.
