Mamta Kulkarni Sparks Firestorm With ‘Dawood Ibrahim Not A Terrorist’ Remark, Later Blames Slip For Vicky Goswami Reference

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Former Bollywood actor turned spiritual leader Mamta Kulkarni found herself engulfed in fresh controversy this week after publicly declaring that underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim Kaleem Omar Khan “did not carry out the Mumbai blasts and is not a terrorist.” The remark, made during her spiritual tour in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, immediately provoked outrage given Dawood’s designation as a global terrorist and alleged involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bombings.

Kulkarni’s statement, which appeared during a press conference as part of her three-day spiritual itinerary, spread rapidly on social media and in entertainment & news circles. Her exact words questioned widely accepted accounts of Dawood’s role in terrorism, suggesting he did not orchestrate the blasts. The backlash was swift: critics called the comments irresponsible, inflammatory and insensitive towards the victims of the attacks.

Facing mounting criticism, Kulkarni attempted to clarify her remarks within days. She asserted that she had been referring to alleged drug lord Vicky Goswami and not Dawood–a claim many observers described as a belated and awkward retreat. “I was misunderstood… I meant Vicky Goswami,” she stated, adding, “Dawood is indeed a terrorist.”

In her clarification, she emphasised that she had no connection with politics, films or anti-national elements. She said she is “completely devoted to spirituality” and asserted her commitment to Sanatan Dharma. Her attempt to reassure the public of her nationalist credentials did little to quell concerns raised about her original statement.

Why the controversy matters

The uproar over Kulkarni’s remarks is about far more than a verbal slip-up. It touches deeper sensitivities around terrorism, public memory and celebrity influence. Dawood Ibrahim is listed by India, the United States and other countries as a designated terrorist facing allegations of masterminding the 1993 Bombay blasts that killed hundreds of people. In this context, any suggestion that he lacked responsibility or terrorist status challenges established legal and historical narratives.

The incident also highlights how public figures must navigate the boundaries of commentary on national security-related matters. As an actress-turned-sanyasi with spiritual branding, Kulkarni’s remarks carry weight beyond personal opinion—they influence perception. The fact that she attempted to walk back the comment by blaming “mis-reference to Vicky Goswami” raises questions about accountability, accuracy and the consequences of public speech.

The timing and backdrop of Mamta Kulkarni

Mamta Kulkarni’s comments came while she was on a spiritual tour in Gorakhpur, a city known for its religious centres and as a hub of spiritual media coverage. During her visit, she paid homage at the Gorakhnath Temple and recounted her transformation under Nath sect guru Gagan Giri Maharaj. Her transition from mainstream Bollywood actress in the 1990s into the spiritual domain was already the subject of public fascination. The latest incident adds an unexpected firestorm.

Some analysts point to the impact of social-media amplification: the remarks were shared widely with minimal context, and the swift online reaction left little room for nuance. Others emphasise that public figures must be especially cautious when addressing issues of terror, culpability and extremism—misstatements can rapidly fuel misinformation or controversy.

What’s next

At this stage, no legal proceedings appear to have been initiated against Kulkarni for her statement. However, there is growing discussion among commentators and legal experts about possible defamation or national security implications of her remark. The fact-check-and-retraction dynamic may itself be under scrutiny: undoing a public statement rarely erases its impact.

For Mamta Kulkarni’s spiritual career, the controversy represents a test of credibility. Her attempt to disentangle herself from film-industry and political associations, and to reaffirm her devotion to spirituality, may come across as genuine religious commitment—or as damage control in the face of media backlash.

More broadly, this episode could set precedents in how celebrity statements on terrorism are monitored and discussed. As society becomes more sensitive to false or provocative claims about security events, the institutional response—media, legal, social—may grow stricter.

In the end, Mamta Kulkarni’s sudden claim and subsequent reversal reveal the volatile intersection of celebrity, memory and national trauma. Whether her clarification will settle the matter or just deepen suspicion remains to be seen. But for now, the controversy underscores how quickly a single phrase—uttered in the wrong context—can trigger a flood of public and institutional reaction.

bitchy | Nicole Kidman covers Vogue & didn’t mention or reference Keith Urban once

Nicole Kidman covers the November issue of Vogue. The interview was conducted before the news about her marriage, but Vogue still had time (near the end of the piece) to reference it, with the writer mentioning that Nicole had given off a vibe that her personal life was in a transition. Even without that aside, Nicole seemingly did not mention Keith Urban whatsoever in the piece. She talked about losing her parents, the power of female friendships, how close she is to her sister Antonia and more. Those were the indicators: Nicole was already preparing herself for another divorce and starting over. Some highlights from Vogue:

Anthony Minghella told her that her acting is “skinless.” “I’ve always remembered it. I thought: I’m not sure that’s good, but I look back now that he’s gone”—Minghella died in 2008—“and I sort of understand what he meant. It’s okay, but sometimes you’ve got to put on armor, to protect, when you are skinless.”

She doesn’t like resting: “Taking a risk is what I’ve always done,” she said. Nor does she dwell on mistakes. “You get back up and you try again and you learn.” Her successes, acting or producing, allow her the scope to work on offbeat projects. “I still go back to shoestring indie filmmaking because it was where I was born, but then I can move into a big studio [movie] like Practical Magic, where you go, Okay! But that has an enormous amount of pressure and responsibility and how do you carry that load?”

Women’s film roles have changed so much: “It’s not the Madonna-whore anymore.”

Why she keeps taking these dark/sexual roles: “I don’t know. Isn’t that weird that I don’t know why?” In reality, she is an introvert—but, she said, “sex is an important part of our lives and is still, a lot of times, taboo, and it shouldn’t be.”

Her love of fashion: “Sometimes it’s armor. Sometimes it’s playful, sometimes it’s sexy. It just depends on my mood. Sometimes it’s androgynous, sometimes it’s kind of, screw you.” Kidman told me she sees fashion as “a parallel artistic life.”

On haters, judgment, online excoriation. “Literally walk away from it. Because it will fell you. It will destroy you.” She counsels her teenage daughters to follow Taylor Swift’s advice and shake it off. Sunday Rose began modeling last year, walking the runway for Miu Miu. “It’s very frightening for me,” Kidman admitted. “[But] I started working at 14, so I don’t really have a leg to stand on.”

She spent the summer in Europe with her family: “Going to Hyde Park and concerts, Glastonbury and Salisbury—so much summer fun—Evita, seeing theater, walking Hampstead Heath, swimming there. Went to Portugal, went to Greece, had my nieces and nephews around, lots of family: my sister, my best friend since I was four, and her three children. A very tight group.”

The mention of the divorce: A few weeks after we met, after this story had gone to press, news broke of Kidman’s separation from Urban (she would file for divorce in late September). During our conversations I had guessed as much, but I didn’t want to pry. When I asked about how she felt now, in her 50s, I had expected to hear a nice trite response about the sagacity of age. Instead Kidman was wry, rueful, unsure of herself. She said: “How many times do you have to be taught that you think you know where your life is going and then it isn’t going in that direction?”

[From Vogue]

Her description of her summer in Europe was a HUGE tell. She was not in a rush to get back to Nashville, she was not flying back to see her husband over the summer. Which is fine – even by the pro-Kidman descriptions, it sounded like Nicole and Keith agreed to some kind of trial separation in June, so they were both supposed to be taking some time and space to figure out what they wanted. He wanted to bang a 25-year-old. Nicole wanted to work on the marriage. Anyway, I’d love it if we got another post-divorce revenge-fashion tour from Nicole, like we got after she divorced Tom Cruise.

Driving into Lyrics: Songs That Reference Car Crashes & Their Real-world Parallels

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Among images in popular music, one of the most haunting figures is that of a car crash. Ironically, crashing into something has turned for many musicians into a metaphor for life’s misery, threatening danger, or the urge to rebel-from dramatic ballads to edgier rock anthems. Such cultural echoes, however, might make one think larger than life; crashes, however, change one’s legal status and medical consequences irrevocably. Instead of bringing closure to the catastrophe, the Florida Personal Injury Lawyers appear instrumental in unraveling the often-befuddling maze of insurance, liability, and healthcare that develops following a real tragedy. Examining the way songs and videos elevate or dramatize that event against the stark reality of trauma and law reveals that very uncanny cultural chasm between art and life.

Rock music has long embraced the idea of the crash as a symbol of recklessness or freedom. Songs such as “Last Kiss” (popularized by Pearl Jam, originally by Wayne Cochran) tell tragic stories of young lives cut short in auto wrecks, while punk and alternative bands often use crash imagery to convey angst and rebellion. These songs resonate because they dramatize the suddenness of disaster and the fragility of life.

In reality, though, car crashes are among the most common causes of injury in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 40,000 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2022, with hundreds of thousands more injured. Unlike the quick fadeout of a song, survivors face long hospital stays, surgeries, and extensive rehabilitation. The “myth” of the crash as a poetic moment clashes sharply with the ongoing struggles of those living with permanent disabilities.

Car crash ballads often focus on the emotional aftermath—the grief, heartbreak, or nostalgia of survivors. These cultural portrayals rarely address the practical realities: medical bills, lost wages, or the question of who was legally at fault.

In Florida, for example, car accident victims face unique legal frameworks due to the state’s no-fault insurance laws. When injuries are severe, victims often need to step outside the no-fault system and file lawsuits against negligent drivers. These layers of law are invisible in music, where grief is timeless, but in life, deadlines and statutes of limitations mean timing is critical.

Music videos frequently use car crashes for visual drama. A flaming wreck might represent a relationship falling apart or the chaos of fame. Yet, in emergency rooms, the reality is anything but stylized.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that car crashes are a leading cause of traumatic brain injuries, many of which go undiagnosed immediately after impact. Unlike the dramatic explosion on screen, many injuries—such as whiplash, internal bleeding, or concussions—can appear subtle at first but worsen over time. Medical professionals stress the importance of immediate evaluation, but cultural portrayals rarely show the painstaking work of trauma care, from CT scans to long-term physical therapy.

Interestingly, while traditional car crashes dominate cultural references, modern music rarely touches on accidents connected to rideshare services. Yet these collisions are increasingly common in urban areas. A report from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business estimated that ridesharing has contributed to a 2–3 percent increase in traffic fatalities nationwide.

Legally, rideshare crashes present challenges unfamiliar to most people. Liability may involve the rideshare company’s insurer, the driver’s personal policy, or third parties. Victims often discover that navigating compensation is far more complicated than in a typical crash. The absence of this reality in music underscores how cultural portrayals lag behind technological and social change.

Country music often invokes cars, highways, and the dangers of the road, weaving them into stories of heartbreak or resilience. Lyrics may mention “driving all night” or “crashing on the highway” as metaphors for emotional turmoil. These songs resonate with listeners because they blend everyday experiences with deeper themes.

But in a Florida courtroom, the narrative is starkly different. Judges and juries deal not with metaphor but with evidence—police reports, medical records, and testimony. What a songwriter might use as poetic shorthand becomes, in reality, a detailed legal argument about distracted driving, intoxication, or failure to yield.

Songs about car crashes offer a powerful emotional lens on loss, chaos, or passion, but they often stop at the chorus, leaving out the months or years of struggle that follow in real life. Survivors face surgeries, therapies, and bills; families navigate grief alongside complex insurance claims; attorneys fight to secure fair compensation.

This gap between culture and reality is where law and medicine step in. Doctors and nurses provide the care that lyrics skip over, while attorneys work to help victims pursue financial recovery. In Florida, navigating this system is especially complex, which is why so many turn to legal advocates after a serious crash.

bitchy | Did Princess Kate wear a grey suit on purpose, as a reference to Prince Harry?

by jummy84 October 4, 2025

Yesterday, Commodore Keen wore a grey Bella Freud suit to an RAF base. The Princess of Wales was appointed the Royal Honorary Air Commodore in 2023, and this was her first-ever trip to RAF Coningsby. I’ve included more photos of her visit in this post. Anyway, I didn’t have much to say about Kate’s suit yesterday. It was fine – appropriate, sedate, professional. If I have one criticism, it’s that Kate actually needs more of a flared or straight legged trouser – the subtle taper of the trousers is unflattering, imo.

Well, it didn’t even occur to me yesterday that Kate was actually sending a “message” by wearing a grey suit. Where else have we seen “grey suit” written and discussed ad nauseum in the past week? That’s right, Prince Harry’s clapback on the Sun. Harry didn’t actually say “the men in grey suits,” but he referenced nefarious people behind the scenes who are trying to sabotage his reconciliation with his father. Diana was the one (I think) who coined “the men in grey” term in reference to her biggest opps, the palace courtiers. Diana’s youngest definitely shares her hatred for these shady figures pulling the strings and manipulating the Windsors. So… Kate’s message is that she can wear a grey suit as well! She’s one of the shady courtiers turning father against son and brother against brother! Honestly… that’s on brand for Kate. We’re long past the Linchpin Era, when Kate tried to convince everyone that she alone could repair royal relations. She’s in her Men In Grey era now.

During this visit, Kate also “revealed” that Louis wants to become a fighter pilot. When she next visits a garden, she’ll say Louis wants to be a gardener. When she next visits a mill, she’ll say Louis wants to work in fashion.

Musical Success But Relationship Challenges

Clearly, it was the right move. The band’s 1975 eponymous album landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and featured hits like “Landslide,” “Rhiannon,” “Over My Head,” and “Say You Love Me.”

Afterwards, the group began work on their 1977 album Rumours, which would go on to win Album of the Year.

But as their star was rising, the relationships between Nicks and Buckingham, the McVies, and Fleetwood and his wife Jenny Boyd were all crumbling.

“When we joined Fleetwood Mac, everything was really rocky between me and Lindsey,” Nicks said in the Don’t Stop documentary. “I think we kind of all made a little silent vow: Let’s fix these relationships for right now, because we cannot breakup. We just can’t. If we do, there will be no Fleetwood Mac.”

However, the relationships did end. In 1976, the McVies divorced while Nicks and Buckingham split (Fleetwood and Boyd would also later breakup).

And if fans really listen to the track’s—including Christine’s “Don’t Stop,” Nicks’ “Dreams” and Buckingham’s “Go Your Own Way”—they can get a sense of what they were going through.

“My songs were all about Lindsey, and Lindsey’s songs were all about me,” Nicks added, “and you just had to blow it off and play the song.”

Kyra Green & Cashel Barnett: Split

The delivered one of the U.S. version’s most unexpected couplings, with Kyra choosing to leave the show to see if she still had a shot with Cashel after sending him home…only to find out he’d already returned. But, unfortunately, the musically inclined couple split in October 2019.

By the end of November, they had reconciled. However, Kyra and Cashel ended their relationship for good in February 2020.

“We had a good go,” he said on the #NoFilter podcast. “I think we’re just in different places in our lives…I think she blocked my number, to be honest.”

Kyra went on to appear on other shows including Match Me If You Can in 2021, The Challenge: USA in 2022 (which Cashel also competed on) and Love Island Games in 2023. But she ended up finding her match off-camera with dental student and former basektball player Tal Sahar in 2024.

In May 2025, Cashel was jailed in Utah on charges of domestic violence and assault, according to online records. The following month, new charges of assault and domestic violence were filed against him.

According to NBC News, Cashel denied the allegations, with his attorney Andrew K. Deesing telling the outlet, “My client and his family are enduring an incredibly difficult time, and we hope that his privacy will be respected as we work diligently to defend his name and reputation. Obviously, we’re in the very early stages of this and don’t have any further comment at this time.”
