The pop star is due to release her 12th studio album on October 3, following on from last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Swift shared the news of her highly anticipated album last month during her first-ever appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and his brother Jason.

Yesterday (September 1), Spotify announced that ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ has already broken a record, a month ahead of the album’s release. Spotify wrote: “On August 31st, 2025, Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history.”

The previous record was held by Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ in 2024. This marks Swift’s latest Spotify-dominating achievement. Over the last couple of years, she’s broken numerous records on the streaming platform, including being crowned Spotify’s most-streamed artist of 2024.

Since announcing ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’, Taylor Swift has revealed several details of the album, including its tracklisting – which includes one feature from Sabrina Carpenter – its themes and more.

Swift has described the follow-up to last year’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ as “the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time”. The project will focus on “what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life” during the record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’. Swift recorded the album in Sweden, in between shows on the huge tour.

Speaking on New Heights, Swift explained that there are “no other songs coming” beyond the standard tracklist: “With ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, I was like, ‘Here’s a data dump of everything I thought and felt in two or three years. Here’s 31 songs’. This is 12. There’s not a 13th, there’s not other ones coming.”

She most recently announced her engagement to Travis Kelce, writing in a caption on social media: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Details of when the couple are expecting to get married have yet to be made public.

25 August 2025

AEW Forbidden Door set a new attendance record for a wrestling event at The O2 arena in London on Sunday night (24.08.25).

AEW President Tony Khan with Brodido at the Forbidden Door post-show press conference

The pay-per-view super show – which was co-produced by American promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Japan-based New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) – was watched by 18,992 fans inside the iconic venue beating the previous record of 17,617 fans set by WWE’s Money in the Bank event in 2023.

AEW commentator Tony Schiavone entered the ring to tell fans they had set the new record to huge cheers and screams of approval.

Schiavone, 67, said: “You are part of the largest pro wrestling crowd ever in The O2 – 18,992 fans! Thank you very much for tonight!”

Those fans saw a packed card of astonishing matches, including a Four-way match for the AEW TBS Championship in which Mercedes Moné successfully defended her championship against Alex Windsor, Bozilla and Persephone by pinfall and “Hangman” Adam Page defeating MJF by pinfall to remain AEW World Champion in a bloody encounter.

The main event saw the team of Darby Allin, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay and Golden Lovers (Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi) defeat the rival team of Gabe Kidd, Death Riders (Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli) and The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson) in a brutal Lights Out Steel Cage match.

AEW President Tony Khan was thrilled to have set a new wrestling attendance record at The O2, and insisted it was further proof of the incredible growth that the company has made in 2025.

Khan, 42, also thanked AEW’s partner promotions that helped make Forbidden Door an unforgettable event.

Speaking at post-show press conference attended by BANG Showbiz and other media, he said: “It means so much. First of all the only thing better than AEW breaking the attendance record in this building, the most pro wrestling fans to attend a show at London’s O2 Arena, 18,992 people here for this show, the only thing better than AEW breaking this record is AEW together with New Japan Pro Wrestling breaking this record as a partnership and in collaboration.

“This year it was even more special to be joined by partners from around the world, to have wrestlers from CMLL (Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre), Stardom (World Wonder Ring Stardom), even Rev Pro (Revolution Pro Wrestling) represented. It was really, really cool. It’s an historic night for us, it’s been an historic year for AEW. I think 2025 has been the best year of AEW and it’s amazing to think the last time we did AEW here in London how far we’ve come, how many things have changed.

“I really believe that 2025 has been our best year, I’m so proud to keep putting great nights and great moments and achievements together.”

Khan also announced that he will be bringing the AEW Continental Classic tournament to the UK for the first time when AEW returns to Britain for two nights in December 2025 before coming to Wembley Stadium in 2026.

He said: “We will be back here next year at Wembley Stadium. But I’m not going to wait until next year to bring AEW back to the UK, we’re coming back this year!

“For the first time ever we’re coming back in December to the UK, we will go back to Cardiff for Collision, December 13th, and we will debut AEW in Manchester on December 17th. I can’t wait to bring AEW here. And for the first time the Continental Classic is coming abroad.”

The AEW press conference was hosted by Renee Paquette and as well as Tony Khan it was attended by AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Moné, AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher and Brodido – Brody King and Bandido, pictured – who were crowned new AEW World Tag Team Champions on the night after they defeated defending champions The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) and FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) (with Stokely) by pinfall in a Three-way tag team match.

Live Nation Stock Hits Record, Sphere Entertainment Posts Big Gain

Gains by some live entertainment stocks and solid performances by multi-sector companies were overshadowed this week by German concert promoter CTS Eventim’s double-digit decline and a more modest single-digit drop from Spotify.

CTS Eventim shares fell 16.6% to 81.20 euros ($95.18) this week following Thursday’s mid-year results that showed a sharp decrease in adjusted EBITDA despite the concert promoter achieving record revenue. Numerous analysts reacted by decreasing their price targets. The most drastic revision came from Oddo BHF, which reduced its price target to 86 euros ($100.81) from 117 euros ($137.15) and downgraded its rating to “neutral” from “outperform.”

In addition, Bernstein lowered its CTS Eventim price target to 100 euros ($117.22) from 104 euros ($121.91) and maintained its “outperform” rating. Deutsche Bank dropped its price target to 109 euros ($127.77) from 117 euros ($137.15) but kept its “buy” rating. MWB Research lowered its price target to 100 euros ($117.22) from 105 euros ($123.08) and upgraded its rating to “buy” from “hold.”

The Billboard Global Music Index (BGMI) dropped 2.6% to 3,023.51, breaking a two-week winning streak and lowering the index’s year-to-date gain to 42.3%. Winners outnumbered losers 10 to 8, and one company, Deezer, was unchanged.

Major indexes were mixed this week. In the U.S., the Nasdaq fell 0.6% and the S&P 500 gained 0.3%. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 improved 2.0%. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index dropped 1.8%. China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 3.5%.

Other than CTS Eventim, live entertainment companies posted solid gains. Live Nation reached a new record of $166.54 on Friday and closed at $165.72, up 3.0%. Earlier in the week, MoffettNathanson initiated coverage of Live Nation with a $195 price target and Wolfe Research increased its price target to $177 from $173.

The two Dolan family-controlled live entertainment companies bounced back from an off week. MSG Entertainment was the week’s biggest gainer, rising 6.8% to $39.33. Sphere Entertainment Co. rose 6.5% to $42.46. A week earlier, MSGE shares fell 3.1% after the company’s earnings announcement revealed a 74% decline in fiscal year net profit and Sphere Entertainment shares fell 1.0% following second quarter earnings.

Music streaming companies produced more losers than winners. Spotify fell 5.4% to $692.99, lowering its gain in 2025 to 48.5%. LiveOne slipped 6.3% to $0.60. Tencent Music Entertainment dropped 0.8% to $25.35, although it’s still up 127.4% this year. Netease Cloud Music gained 2.5% to 287.00 HKD ($36.73), bringing its year-to-date gain to 155.8%.

Multi-sector companies’ stocks performed well, with Reservoir Media (up 5.1%), Warner Music Group (up 3.8%), HYBE (up 0.7%) and Universal Music Group (up 0.6%) posting gains. SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment fell 2.8% and 2.9%, respectively
