Streaming Ratings March 2-8, 2026

by jummy84 April 2, 2026
written by jummy84

The first week of March was a big one for streaming shows set in 19th century England.

Prime Video’s Young Sherlock got off to a solid start in its premiere week, recording 678 million minutes of watch time in Nielsen’s streaming ratings for March 2-8. The series, which follows Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) as a college student and budding detective, was the top series debut of the week.

Bridgerton, meanwhile, spent a second week as the overall No. 1 title, coming in at 1.99 billion minutes of viewing. It was one of three series to score more than a billion viewing minutes, along with The Night Agent (1.12 billion) and The Pitt (1.11 billion), neither of which are set in 1800s England.

Two other shows also made their first appearances in the original series top 10: Netflix’s Steven Spielberg-produced nature series The Dinosaurs drew 612 million minutes of viewing, and Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters had 467 million a week into its second season.

Hulu’s Paradise accumulated 694 million minutes of watch time for the week — down from a series high of 950 million minutes the previous week but still well above all but the finale week of its first season last year.

Netflix’s action film War Machine, starring Alan Ritchson, also had a big opening week, leading the movie chart with 1.1 billion viewing minutes. All four Jurassic World movies also made the rankings, led by 2025’s Rebirth with 741 million minutes.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences. The top streaming titles for March 2-8, 2026, are below.

Record TV Ratings on NBC, Peacock

A record number of viewers tuned in for NBC’s coverage of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

The network said Friday that 34.3 million viewers tuned in to coverage of the 99th annual parade across NBC and Peacock, according to preliminary Nielsen data. That marks its biggest combined audience on record, outperforming last year’s parade by 2.5 million viewers, an increase of 8 percent. (It’s worth noting that Peacock has about 5 million more subscribers than it did a year ago at this time.)

The original 8:30 a.m. ET broadcast on NBC averaged 25.4 million viewers, making it the most-watched entertainment telecast in nearly seven years, since the Academy Awards telecast on Feb. 24, 2019, which aired on ABC.

Meanwhile, the adults 18-49 viewership was up 13 percent from the previous year. The original broadcast marked the highest-rated entertainment telecast in five years, since NBC’s coverage of the 2020 Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In other Thanksgiving programming, The National Dog Show Presented by Purina averaged 12.8 million viewers, a 4 percent increase over last year. In late-night, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers brought in their biggest audiences since their post-NFL broadcasts on Sept. 4.

“These record-breaking numbers signify how beloved this parade is to our audience and we couldn’t be more thrilled to begin the holiday season on such a wonderful note,” said Jen Neal, executive vp live events and specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment. “A profound thank-you to Macy’s for their partnership in producing such an iconic event.”

Added Sharon Otterman, chief marketing officer at Macy’s: “This year’s record-breaking ratings are a powerful testament to the creative mastery, technical precision and storytelling ambition Macy’s offers. We are deeply proud to create entertainment that showcases today’s top talent and captures the cultural zeitgeist to connect with our audiences and consistently redefine the benchmark for televised and streaming programming. As we look toward the 100th Macy’s Parade, we remain dedicated to leveraging our unique capabilities to inspire wonder and joy for millions nationwide, ensuring our programs exceed expectations year after year.”

NBC’s coverage of this year’s parade was again hosted by Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker. It marked Kotb’s first return to hosting duties on the network following her departure from Today in January. In addition to floats, marching bands and giant balloons, this year’s edition featured performers including Cynthia Erivo, Lil Jon, Busta Rhymes, Jonathan Groff, Ciara, Jewel, Foreigner,  Teyana Taylor and EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI from KPop group HUNTR/X of KPop Demon Hunters.

‘Tracker,’ ‘High Potential’ Still Rule Network TV Ratings for Fall 2025

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

The top of the network ratings charts for the 2025-26 season so far don’t look much different from how they did last season — which is to say that CBS’ Tracker and ABC’s High Potential are still racking up big audiences.

As it has for each of its first two seasons, Tracker is on pace to be the most-watched network entertainment show (i.e., excluding sports and news programming) of the current season. Through Oct. 26 (the most current available figures), the show has averaged just under 14 million cross-platform viewers over seven days. That’s more than 1.5 million viewers than the second-ranked series … which is High Potential at 12.38 million. The two also ranked first and second for the 2024-25 season (in Nielsen’s longer-tail, 35-day ratings).

High Potential, meanwhile, has a sizable lead among all non-sports and news shows in the key ad sales demographic of adults 18-49. It averages a 2.42 rating over seven days of viewing (equivalent to about 3.29 million people in that age range), with almost three quarters of its total coming via streaming. ABC also notes that High Potential’s Sept. 16 season premiere has grown to 17.23 million viewers and a 3.9 rating among adults 18-49 over five weeks of viewing.

CBS’ Matlock (10.31 million viewers) and NCIS (8.86 million) and NBC’s Chicago Fire (8.62 million) complete the top five shows in total viewers. If sports and news were included, NBC’s Sunday Night Football (21.77 million same-day viewers, not including streaming, from Sept. 22-Oct. 26), ABC’s portion of Monday Night Football (12.11 million) and CBS’ 60 Minutes (8.93 million) would all be in the top five.

Three ABC shows — the resurgent Dancing With the Stars (2.0 rating), Abbott Elementary (1.96) and 911 (1.48) — follow High Potential in the 18-49 rankings, with Tracker in fifth at 1.39.

Viewing patterns look to be fairly consistent with recent years: On average, the top 20 shows are drawing about 22 percent of their seven-day viewer totals from streaming, and a much higher proportion (54 percent) of their adults 18-49 ratings.

The top 20 network entertainment series for the first five weeks of the 2025-26 season are below.

Streaming Ratings Oct. 13-19, 2025

With the publicity machine behind Stranger Things starting to ramp up ahead of the final season, the show re-entered the Nielsen streaming charts in mid-October.

The series ranked eighth among original streaming shows for the week of Oct. 13-19, logging 393 million minutes of viewing time for the four currently available seasons. That week saw the reveal of running times for the final season’s first batch of episodes and a Time cover story that signaled the start of advance press for the series. Stranger Things hadn’t been on the Nielsen charts since late June, when it made the rankings for four weeks after Netflix announced the release schedule for season five.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story held the No. 1 overall spot for a third straight week, though its 979 million minutes of viewing represented a 58 percent decline week to week. The former BBC/PBS series Poldark, which joined the Netflix catalog a week earlier, jumped into the rankings at second overall with 954 million minutes. Aidan Turner, who starred in Poldark, also plays a key role in season three of The Diplomat, which premiered Oct. 16 and came in fourth for the week with 911 million minutes.

Netflix’s coming-of-age drama Boots (798 million minutes) saw substantial growth in its second week, improving by 84 percent from the previous seven days. The streamer’s true-crime documentary The Perfect Neighbor also had 798 million viewing minutes, leading the movie rankings and (at least for this week) displacing KPop Demon Hunters from the top spot.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Oct. 13-19, 2025, are below.

Welcome to Derry’ Premiere Ratings Score Big for HBO

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

The premiere of IT: Welcome to Derry enticed a lot of viewers back into Pennywise’s clutches.

The HBO series debuted to 5.7 million cross-platform viewers (measured over three days), making Welcome to Derry the third biggest series debut in HBO’s history. It trails only the premieres of House of the Dragon — which had nearly 10 million day-one viewers in 2022 — and The Last of Us, which opened with 4.7 million on its first night in 2023 and moved well past 5.7 million in following the three days.

IT: Welcome to Derry is a prequel to the It movies, which are based on Stephen King’s novel. The show is set in Derry, Maine, in the early 1960s — during one of the “cycles” in which the shape-shifting killer clown Pennywise resurfaces to wreak havoc.

The premiere ends with a shocking bit of violence that upends the way the two movies unfolded — purposely, IT filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti told The Hollywood Reporter (spoilers contained in that link). “We did two movies already. One thing that we didn’t want was to — given that we’re using the same tone and the style as the movies — get people too familiar [with the story mechanics]. We really wanted to create a subversion to get people excited. It has to do also with raising the volume a little in terms of intensity and spectacle.”

As is almost always the case with HBO shows in recent years, the vast majority of Welcome to Derry’s 5.7 million viewers watched the show after its on-air premiere. Nielsen figures have the first airing of the show on HBO at just 334,000 viewers (which is itself up from the 214,000 for Task’s debut in September), meaning that about 94 percent of the total audience came from streaming on HBO Max and on-air replays at HBO.

‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Ratings: 8.6 Million Netflix Views

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Season 2 of “Nobody Wants This” hit 8.6 million views in its first four days of streaming.

That took it to the No. 1 position on the Netflix Top 10’s English-language TV chart for the week of Oct. 20-26. However, the series still saw a 17% decrease from the viewership it achieved with its Season 1 premiere last year, which debuted with 10.3 million views in the same amount of time.

But the No. 1 title overall on Netflix was Kathryn Bigelow’s “A House of Dynamite,” leading the film chart with 22.1 million views in just three days. “The Perfect Neighbor” was a close second with 20.2 million views, though it had the full week to accrue viewership, as it had its debut at No. 1 with 16.7 million views the week before.

Back on the TV chart, “The Diplomat” Season 3 followed “Nobody Wants This” at No. 2 with 6.3 million views in its first full week of availability, up from its 4.8 million-view debut in four days the previous week. “Boots” took third place in its third week on the chart with 5.6 million views, while “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” charted at No. 4 with 5.1 million views in its fourth week.

Docuseries “Mob War: Philadelphia vs. The Mafia” debuted at No. 5 with 4.8 million views in its first five days, followed by the Oct. 20 edition of “Raw: 2025” with 2.6 million views. The bottom of the chart was dominated by repeat titles —

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Ratings Momentum Keeps Growing

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Dancing With the Stars made a little bit of TV ratings history with its Oct. 21 episode.

The ABC show delivered 6.63 million viewers for its Wicked-themed night of dances, a season high and the largest same-day audience for DWTS since the start of the 2020-21 season. It also hit a season high among adults 18-49 with a 1.38 rating, which is also its best in several years.

With its week to week gains, Dancing With the Stars has now improved for five straight weeks in total viewers since its season premiere on Sept. 16. According to ABC research, it’s the first fall show in at least 34 years — dating back to the start of Nielsen’s regular measurement of total viewers in 1991 — to grow its audience for five weeks in a row after a season premiere. (DWTS also outdrew NBC’s solid NBA season opener in viewers.)

Dancing’s ABC lead-out, High Potential, is also having a strong season after its breakout rookie campaign. The Oct. 7 episode hit season highs in both total viewers (12.5 million) and adults 18-49 (2.31 rating) after a week of cross-platform viewing. About 35 percent of its viewer total (4.41 million) and more than two thirds of the 18-49 rating (1.6) came via streaming; seven days of linear viewing put the show at 8.09 million viewers and a 0.71 in the 18-49 demographic.

High Potential’s on-air ratings are running well ahead of the same point in season one: In Nielsen’s seven-day linear ratings (i.e., without streaming), the show is averaging 7.62 million viewers, up 29 percent from 5.91 million a year ago.

Elsewhere, the Oct. 19 finale of Task on HBO and HBO Max matched its season high (set a week earlier) of 4 million cross-platform viewers over three days. The crime drama’s premiere has grown to 11.2 million viewers — adding 1.2 million people over the past week — and the season as a whole ranks among the fastest-growing inaugural seasons of any HBO series.

HBO’s comedy The Chair Company is also showing momentum. Its second episode drew 1.5 million viewers over three days, up from 1.4 million for its series premiere. The first episode has grown to 2.7 million viewers over 10 days, putting the show’s season average so far at 2.1 million. The Chair Company is running well ahead of recent HBO comedies Somebody Somewhere and The Rehearsal and in the neighborhood of The Righteous Gemstones (2.3 million viewers).

‘The Chair Company’ Scores Strong Premiere Ratings for HBO

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

A good number of viewers joined Tim Robinson in trying to figure out what’s happening with The Chair Company. Its Sunday lead-in, Task, is also drawing solid ratings heading into its finale.

HBO says 1.4 million viewers watched The Chair Company’s debut over three days on the HBO cable channel and HBO Max — making it the biggest comedy series premiere for HBO in more than five years (since Avenue 5 in early 2020). The show stars Robinson as a guy who gets drawn into a rabbit hole after a workplace mishap.

Robinson also co-created the well-reviewed series with his I Think You Should Leave and Detroiters collaborator Zach Kanin.

Task, meanwhile, has grown its audience each week since its Sept. 7 premiere. HBO says the penultimate episode drew 4 million cross-platform viewers over three days, the highest tally yet and 32 percent ahead of of the show’s premiere audience of just above 3 million.

The series premiere has grown to 10 million viewers over the past six-plus weeks, and Task as a whole is averaging 6.7 million viewers to date across platforms, HBO says. That’s right in line with series creator Brad Ingelsby’s last HBO show, Mare of Easttown, which at the same time during its run stood at 6.8 million viewers. Mare went on to amass 13 million viewers per episode in HBO’s 90-day measurement window.

As is usually the case with HBO shows, both The Chair Company and Task have brought in the great majority of their viewers from streaming on HBO Max. The Chair Company’s on-air premiere Sunday scored 124,000 viewers, or about 9 percent of its three-day total. Task drew 401,000 viewers Sunday, 10 percent of the episode’s three-day tally.

Streaming Ratings Aug 25-31, 2025

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters has set several records over its pop culture-dominating run in the summer. What it hadn’t done previously was lead the overall rankings on Nielsen’s streaming charts.

Emphasis on “hadn’t”: In the final week of August, the movie took over the No. 1 overall spot with its highest weekly viewing total to date in the United States, 1.12 billion minutes. It marked the movie’s 11th straight appearance in the Nielsen rankings, extending a record for a streaming original film that it set a week earlier.

Another movie, The Thursday Murder Club, came in second overall for Aug. 25-31 with 1.03 billion viewing minutes. That narrowly beat Netflix’s YA series My Life With the Walter Boys, which recorded 987 million minutes of viewing for the week of its season two premiere.

Wednesday ceded the No. 1 overall spot it had held for the previous three weeks, dropping to fifth place with 870 million minutes. It will likely move back up in the next set of rankings as Netflix released the second half of the season on Sept. 3. Netflix also had the No. 4 title with docuseries Katrina: Come Hell or High Water (911 million minutes).

The Summer I Turned Pretty hit another high for Prime Video with 717 million minutes of watch time as it entered the home stretch of its third season. Marvel’s movie Thunderbolts (702 million minutes) also cracked the overall top 10 the week of its streaming premiere on Disney+.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Aug. 25-31, 2025 are below.
