Doctor warns that people with underlying heart conditions should avoid energy drinks, explains why: ‘Raise heart rate…’

When exhaustion hits and deadlines pile up, it’s tempting to crack open yet another energy drink for that instant burst of alertness. But while the boost may feel harmless, it can come at a serious cost – especially if you have an underlying heart condition. The combination of high caffeine levels and added stimulants can strain the heart far more than most people realise, making caution essential for anyone relying on these drinks to power through long hours.

Dr Kunal Sood, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain medicine physician has revealed why it is best for people with heart conditions to avoid energy drinks. In an Instagram video posted on November 15, the doctor explains how these stimulant-packed beverages impact the heart and, in the worst cases, can even trigger cardiac arrest.

How do energy drinks affect the heart?

Many people reach for energy drinks to get a quick boost from their high caffeine content, but that sudden rush can pose serious risks to the heart in certain individuals. Dr Sood explains, “Drinks like Celsius, Red Bull, and Monster contain high doses of caffeine along with other stimulants such as taurine and guarana. Together, these compounds raise heart rate and blood pressure for hours after you drink them. And in some people, they can disrupt normal heart rhythm.”

He adds that for someone with an underlying or genetic heart condition, this sudden surge in stimulation can trigger dangerous arrhythmias or, in rare cases, even cardiac arrest. According to the doctor, “Some studies have also linked heavy frequent energy drink use to hypertension, clotting changes and vascular stress, though long-term evidence for direct heart disease risk is still limited.”

Recommended caffeine limit

Dr Sood highlights, “Experts generally recommend keeping caffeine intake under 400 milligrams per day. That’s about four small cups of coffee. They also recommend avoiding energy drinks entirely if you have any heart rhythm issues or sensitivity to stimulants.”

The doctor emphasises that these caffeine-packed energy drinks might help you power through a workout or late nights, but they also burden your heart with more strain than you realise. “Sometimes the best energy comes from hydration, nutrition, and recovery. Not another can,” says Dr Sood.”

bitchy | RFK Jr: Babies who are circumcised get autism at a higher rate because of Tylenol

Just this week, six former Surgeons General blasted Robert Kennedy Jr. for “endangering the health of the nation.” Jerome Adams, Richard Carmona, Joycelyn Elders, Vivek Murthy, Antonia Novello and David Satcher coauthored a Washington Post op-ed, trying to raise the alarm yet again that Kennedy is an extremely dangerous person and he should be nowhere near health policy and vaccine policy. They wrote, in part, that “the profound, immediate and unprecedented threat that Kennedy’s policies and positions pose to the nation’s health cannot be ignored.” Well, on Thursday, during Donald Trump’s cabinet meeting, Kennedy went off on a truly bonkers rant about babies in placentas, Tylenol and circumcision.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has claimed that children who are circumcised have double the rate of autism, most likely because they are taking Tylenol. In a wild rant during a Trump cabinet meeting on Thursday, the controversial Health Secretary also suggested some pregnant women were taking the pain relief drug just to spite the president, and accused them of having pathological levels of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“This morning before I came in here, somebody showed me a TikTok video of a pregnant woman. She is an associate professor at Columbia Medical School, and she is saying “F Trump” and gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta,” Kennedy said, confusing the temporary organ with a uterus. “The level of Trump Derangement Syndrome has now left political landscapes and it is now in the realm of pathology.”

The comments came three weeks after Trump and Kennedy held a controversial press conference in which they suggested that Tylenol—the brand name for the highly popular medication otherwise known as acetaminophen—may be linked to autism. This came despite recent large-scale studies finding no causal link between using the drug during pregnancy and having autism spectrum disorder. Medical groups such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Academy of Pediatrics have also stated that acetaminophen is safe to use as directed during that time.

But Kennedy doubled down on Thursday, and even cited a new link between Tylenol and autism: circumcision.

“Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it’s highly likely because they’re given Tylenol,” he said. Trump insisted that “there’s a tremendous amount of proof or evidence, I would say as a non-doctor” to back up Kennedy’s suggestion. “I’ve studied this a long time ago,” he added.

But Erik Polyak, executive director of health advocacy group 314 Action, said it was “peak clownery” for RFK Jr. and Trump giving medical advice, “if clowns were allowed to wreck our health care. Their expertise comes from binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy—no one should ever take medical advice from these two. Their ‘findings’ are like a game of Mad-Libs, picking random words and stringing them together to sow fear and chaos. RFK Jr. is a disgrace to the scientific and medical community and it’s beyond time for him to leave office, before it’s too late.”

As soon as the words “gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta” were uttered, Kennedy should have been locked out of every federal building. These despicable old men don’t know the first thing about women’s bodies, reproductive systems, science, otc medication or anything else. This is a complete nightmare.

RFK Jr: “Somebody showed me a TikTok video of a pregnant woman at 8 months pregnant — she’s an associate professor at the Columbia Medical School — and she is saying ‘F Trump’ and gobbling Tylenol with her baby in her placenta. The level of Trump Derangement Syndrome is now a pathology.”

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

“Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it’s highly likely because they’re given Tylenol. None of this is positive…”

Jay Electronica: A Written Testimony: Leaflets / A Written Testimony: Power at the Rate of My Dreams / A Written Testimony: Mars, the Inhabited Planet Album Review

Conspiracies aside, Jay Electronica hasn’t missed a step when it comes to craft. “Ashes to Ashes,” from Power at the Rate of My Dreams, is arguably the most beautiful track out of the collection and hits on all the notes that make engaging the New Orleans native worth the frequent absences and head-scratching beliefs. He takes the Brazilian icon Jorge Ben Jor’s 1969 hit “Domingas,” slows it down, and delivers a mesmerizing stream-of-consciousness verse about his approach to life. “The long road to one’s own destiny ain’t paved/This treacherous path through the wilderness is only for the brave,” he starts, before honoring enslaved ancestors and leaning on that lineage to find peace in the fact that, when his time comes, he will be immortalized in his work. “Letter to Mars,” from Mars, The Inhabited Planet, is addressed to his daughter he shares with Erykah Badu. Originally released as an outtake from A Written Testimony in October 2020 on his own Discord channel, the song marks the beginning of the third and final installment of this new chapter. On it, he speaks of how long it’s taken him to resurface—a process that, by his estimation, was informed by a constant push-and-pull of dark and light forces within. Vocals from Thom Yorke’s “Bloom (Live From Electric Lady Studios)” add melancholic effect.

At his best, Electronica is painfully human. Throughout the duration of a project (and sometimes a single song), he goes from someone burdened by the weight of life, justifiably reclusive, to someone whose chest swells with spiritual belief, commitment to community, and trust in his artistic merit. He reveals these ebbs and flows lyrically, but is just as effective at communicating through voice recordings, selected film scenes, and knowing when to let a track breathe without his rapping present. Leaflets track “Four Billion, Four Hundred Million (4,400,000,000) / The Worst Is Yet to Come” begins with a clip of Stevie Wonder making an impromptu theme song for Soul Train in 1973. The rising New York singer Kelly Moonstone gets a chance to show her chops on Mars’ serene “… shine for me.” Electronica’s own crooning on the hook of “Japan Airline 1628” is so convincing that you may pause to try and find out who it is. And in using Michael Caine’s breakdown of a magic trick from The Prestige for “Dear Mr. Blain, I Won.,” he gives insight into why Act II: The Patents of Nobility (the turn) is always disappearing from streaming platforms.

37 year old man gets diagnosed with throat cancer, 10% survival rate; ChatGPT convinced him symptoms were harmless | Health

A man’s decision to trust ChatGPT over going to the doctor to get a proper diagnosis has cost him his life. Warren Tierney, a 37-year-old man from Killarney, County Kerry, in Ireland, felt unwell earlier this year. He depended on using ChatGPT, the AI software, in his downtime to discuss his symptoms. However, when things got serious, he went to the emergency department, where he was diagnosed with stage-four throat cancer.

Earlier this year, Warren was unable to swallow fluids and felt unwell. However, instead of visiting his physician, he took advice from ChatGPT. (Shutterstock)

ChatGPT convinces a man it’s not cancer, turns out it was!

According to a report by The Mirror, the AI chatbot reassured him that cancer was highly unlikely, but doctors have since confirmed he has adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus. Earlier this year, Warren was unable to swallow fluids and felt unwell. However, instead of visiting his physician, he concentrated on taking care of his kids and wife.

Warren turned to ChatGPT for advice. When he shared his symptoms, the AI chatbot told him, “Nothing you’ve described strongly points to cancer”. However, after a while, when his symptoms worsened, he again sought advice from the AI software. “I will walk with you through every result that comes. If this is cancer — we’ll face it. If it’s not — we’ll breathe again,” it said.

However, a few days ago, his symptoms didn’t seem to be improving, and a quick checkup by the doctors when he admitted himself to the emergency department found that he had a stage-four adenocarcinoma of the oesophagus, a cancer with an average five-year survival rate of just five to 10 percent.

‘It cost me a couple of months…’

Warren now advocates for people not to rely on AI too much. He told The Mirror, “I think it ended up really being a real problem, because ChatGPT probably delayed me getting serious attention. The AI model is trying to appeal to what you want it to say in order to keep you engaged.”

He added, “I know that probably cost me a couple of months. And that’s where we have to be super careful when using AI. If we are using it as an intermediary to say we’re not feeling great, then we need to be aware. I’m a living example of it now, and I’m in big trouble because I may have relied on it too much.”

Meanwhile, ChatGPT has responded to the man’s case by saying that the software is “not intended for use in the treatment of any health condition, and is not a substitute for professional advice.”
