Rashmika couldn’t help but blush as he looked at her sweetly while doing it. Camera flashes of photographers and fans surrounding them went off, capturing the perfect, filmy moment.

Fans couldn’t keep calm as videos of the moment began circulating on social media. “His real life #girlfriend,” commented one fan, while another wrote, “Abba, finally!” One fan wrote, “Awww kondannaa,” while many others commented with heart and heart eyes emojis. Even if the moment was a quick one, fans present at the event cheered loudly as soon as they saw what had happened. Some took it as final confirmation that the couple was in fact getting married soon, despite them remaining mum.

Vijay and Rashmika were fan favourites since they starred in the 2018 film Geetha Govindam and the 2019 film Dear Comrade. In 2018, Rashmika had also broken off her engagement with Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty, citing incompatibility. While Vijay was linked to others over the years, and Rashmika has always maintained that they’re good friends, it is unknown when their relationship turned romantic.

In October this year, Vijay’s team confirmed to HT that he and Rashmika have gotten engaged. They also confirmed that the couple will tie the knot in February next year. Vijay or Rashmika has yet to publicly talk about their relationship.

The Girlfriend box office collection day 4: Rashmika Mandanna and Dheekshith Shetty’s much-awaited film, The Girlfriend, finally released in theatres on Friday and opened to largely positive reviews from the audience, but mixed reviews from critics. Now, after a decent weekend, the film has managed to maintain its momentum on its first Monday.

According to Sacnilk, the film saw growth over the weekend, collecting ₹2.4 crore and ₹2.7 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, due to good word of mouth. However, it saw a slight drop on Monday and collected ₹1.10 crore. Now, the film’s total stands at ₹7.50 crore.

The Girlfriend had an overall 18.55% Telugu occupancy, with 14.61% in morning shows, 22.55% in afternoon shows and 18.49% in evening shows. The film is also facing tough competition from Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi’s Haq in the Hindi belt.

Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, it tells the story of postgraduate student Bhooma Devi (Rashmika), who is gaslighted into falling in love with Vikram (Dheekshith), the college stud. She soon finds herself in a toxic situation she cannot seem to extract herself from. Produced by Dheeraj Mogilneni and Vidya Koppineni, the film also features Anu Emmanuel and Rao Ramesh in key roles.

According to trade website Sacnilk, The Girlfriend brought in a collection of ₹2.50 crore net in India on Saturday, taking its domestic total to ₹ 3.80 crore. The film had an opening of ₹1.30 crore, with the Telugu version making ₹ 1.25 crore and the Hindi version earning only ₹ 0.05 crore. It saw an occupancy rate of 25.38% on Saturday, compared to 16.90% on its opening day, indicating an increase in revenue. With the film’s team going all out to promote, it remains to be seen if the film will continue to improve over the weekend and how it fares during the weekdays.

The Girlfriend is directed by actor-filmmaker Rahul Ravindran and produced by Dheeraj Mogilneni and Vidya Koppineni. When asked about her idea of love and what she seeks in a life partner, Rashmika said, “My type is honestly someone who is capable of understanding at a deep level. I am not talking in the generic sense. It is an understanding of life from his own perspective. How does he perceive certain situations? I want someone who is open to understanding. Someone who is genuinely nice and someone who can fight a war with me, or for me. If there is a war against me tomorrow, I know that man will fight with me. I will do the same. I will take a bullet for him any day. That is my kind of person.”

When asked who she would kill, marry and date among all the actors she has worked with so far, Rashmika said she would date Naruto (the anime character) and would marry Vijay Deverakonda. Her response drew loud cheers from the audience.

Her statement comes amid rumours surrounding her wedding with Vijay. A source told HT that Rashmika has already begun wedding preparations in full swing. She reportedly travelled to Udaipur for a recce and checked out potential venues for a “grand celebration”. Meanwhile, a source close to Vijay’s camp told India Today that “the couple is indeed planning to wed next year”, suggesting that preparations for the February ceremony are already underway.

Rashmika and Vijay have been rumoured to be dating since they first worked together in the 2018 hit Geetha Govindam, followed by the 2019 film Dear Comrade. Thamma box office collection day 17: Aditya Sarpotdar’s Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Thamma was released in theatres on 21 October to good reviews. The film, part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe alongside Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, has experienced a slowdown in its third week of release. Let us take a look at the total collection so far.

Thamma box office update

As per the latest update on Saclink, Thamma collected ₹ 0.87 crore as per early estimates. This takes the total collection to ₹126.82 crore. The film had an opening of ₹24 crore when it was released on Diwali, and went on to collect ₹ 108.4 crore in its first week. In the next few days, Thamma is expected to cross the ₹ 130 crore mark in India.

Thamma is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. It also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. The story revolves around Ayushmann’s character, who turns into a vampire and falls in love with Rashmika’s character, leading to a “bloody love story” full of twists. He plays a meek journalist who transforms into a vampire-like figure.

What’s next for the horror-comedy universe?

After Stree, Bhediya, Munjya and Thamma, the MHCU has Shakti Shalini with Saiyaara actor Aneet Padda lined up. Taking to his Instagram stories a few days ago, Ayushmann had shared the attachment for Shakti Shalini, which was attached to Thamma and wrote, “Welcome to the MHCU @aneetpadda Punjabi aa gaye oye (Punjabis are here)!! From one dreamer to another – keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible.. so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud. Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini! Onwards and upwards Aneet.”

Aneet re-shared the post on her Instagram stories and thanked him for his kind words, writing, “Khurrana ji da munda is making waves like always (Khurrana ji the man is making waves like always). Thank you so much, it’s a little extra special coming from someone I look up to so much. So so grateful for the warm wishes.” Amar Kaushik will serve as the director of the upcoming film.

Actors Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna will start their Delhi leg of Cocktail 2 shoot in a few days and we have all the details right here! HT City has exclusively learnt that contrary to reports it won’t be a month long shoot but only a few days some South Delhi spots amongst other places.

Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna will soon land in New Delhi.

The actors recently wrapped up the Europe leg of the shooting schedule and will soon head to the capital for some crucial scenes, which will be divided between Delhi and Gurgaon.

A source tells us, “No, it’s not a month long shoot here. They will be shooting in Delhi from November 11 to November 20. “

Specific locations have been locked in Delhi for the film as the source reveals, “It’s mostly outdoor shoot. They will be shooting in Chhatarpur and Gurugram apart from some other locations in South Delhi.”

With the AQI levels crossing 300 in Delhi, the team of the film is taking special precautions for a smooth shooting schedule of the film.

From air purifiers in vanity vans and rooms to wearing masks on sets, the production is going all out for a safe and productive shoot time.

Additionally the source says, “There will also be water sprinklers on sets and will be used every day before shoots and if need be between takes to ensure a safer environment.”

While the cast of the film has yet to arrive in Delhi, director Homi Adajania posted a story from an airplane, hinting at already flying to Delhi. Although he didn’t mention the location and teased fans by writing “Go Figure. #Cocktail2”

About Cocktail 2

The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles is a spiritual sequel to 2012 film which starred Saif Ali Khan, Diana Penty and Deepika Padukone in the lead role. Filmmaker Homi Adajania, who had directed the first film, has taken the director’s chair for this one as well.

Recently, videos and pictures of their shooting from Sicily, Italy had gone viral on social media.

While Shahid and Kriti have shared the screen in 2024 film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, this is the first time that Rashmika will be seen on the big screen with both of them.

This statement came amid the controversial debate about work timings which rose after Deepika Padukone’s alleged 8-hour shift demand for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Well, Rashmika has now shared her thoughts on work-life balance, explaining the importance of not ‘overworking’.

Some time back Rashmika Mandanna mentioned that it has been months since she got a full 8-hour sleep. Referring to the same, when asked about work-life balance, Rashmika told Gulte, “I think us glorifying the fact that we overwork is not good. I overwork, and I’m telling you, it’s highly not suggestible. Don’t do it. It’s not sustainable. Don’t do it. Do what is comfortable for you, do what is right for you. Get those 8 hours, get those 9-10 hours also because trust me that’s going to save you in the later ages. As in, I have seen a lot of these conversations recently where people are like ‘okay, you know, work timing’ and all of that. I’ve done it both. And I’m telling you, this is not worth it. As in, of course, it’s a responsibility that you have. I tend to overwork myself because I take on so much more than a normal human being can and should. But I’m also not someone who will tell my teams that I can’t do something for them. If I know that they are struggling and they’re like ‘no we have this location only till now and we have to shoot so much in this time’ and all of that, I understand and I’ll give in.”

When director Rahul Ravindran said ‘It’s almost everyday in cinema’, Rashmika agreed and explained, “Yeah, that’s almost every day in cinema. And that’s the love and respect I have for my teams. But if I could choose for myself, I would say ‘please don’t make us actors do that, because there’s a lot that’s going on’. Not even actors. Directors, lightmen, music, everyone, just have, like you know how office time is 9 to 6 or 9 to 5 or 9 to 4, let us have that. Because there’s still a family life that I want to focus on, there’s still my sleep that I want to get in, I still want to work out so, you know, later on I’m not regretting that I wish I was, you know, healthy and fit and working out when I was younger. I’m still thinking about my future. But right now I don’t have a say because I’m taking on too much on myself.”
