Adam Sandler and Timothee Chalamet’s Wild Fairfax High Pep Rally

by jummy84 November 17, 2025
written by jummy84

It takes a precise strain of Los Angeles magic for a rainy Saturday night to end with Adam Sandler and Timothée Chalamet getting their asses handed to them in a high school gym.

Officially billed as the Sandler x Chalamet Conversation and Pickup Basketball Event, it provided more than clever branding for an awards event for “Jay Kelly” and “Marty Supreme,” respectively. It was a reminder of how strange and rare these moments of genuine, unpolished creative conversation can be in the middle of an industry obsessed with polish.

To be clear, the evening will produce a polished product: It was a live taping of Vanity Fair’s Scene Selections series. However, an event like this is usually held at the Academy or a studio theater; this one was a pep rally.

Cara Brower, Scott Chambliss, Sam Bader, Alexandra Schaller, Dylan Cole, Ben Ben Procter and Jim Hemphill poses for a portrait at the Indiewire Craft Roundtables 2025 at the Lumen Building on November 08, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

A DJ pumped up the room. There were cheerleaders. Branded Sandler x Chalamet hats tossed around like school spirit merch. There was no red carpet, no step and repeat or press line. Just fans, family, friends, and a few familiar faces watching two generational talents roast, praise, dissect, and admire each other’s work like we somehow wandered into their private creative exchange.

Sandler and Chalamet came through the cheerleader tunnel like they were being announced at homecoming, The crowd, naturally, ate it up. Sandler kissed his wife and daughters. Chalamet worked the line with his soft, almost shy warmth. They stopped to greet the VIP rows, where Kid Cudi got one of the biggest reactions followed by Josh Safdie.

Adam Sandler, Timothée Chalamet, and the cheerleader tunnel.

Honestly, Sandler and Chalamet talked about their “Uncut Gems” and “Marty Supreme” director so much he could have been the third guest onstage. The room felt like a strange hybrid of a movie premiere, a family gathering, and a school assembly held for two gifted kids who accidentally became superstars.

They kicked things off with SNL clips, which launched stories of breaking on camera which, as Sandler reminded everyone, SNL then regarded as a cardinal sin. He credited “The Carol Burnett Show” for shaping his instincts, particularly Tim Conway’s mission to make Harvey Korman lose composure every week. Chalamet said it still feels surreal that he performed sketch comedy live on Studio 8H at all.

Then came the deep dives. Sandler told the story of Paul Thomas Anderson showing up to his house with the “Punch-Drunk Love” script tied with a bow, asking if he could stay while Adam read it.

Chalamet, who wrapped “Dune” Part Three” only four days earlier, said making the “Dune” films are some of his greatest memories and most formative creative experiences. He shared a clip of watching his character Paul Atreides give a speech in a fabricated language to hundreds of extras.

Sandler stared at him like a proud uncle. “Every extra on that set must have been thinking, ‘What the fuck is happening,’” he said.

Sandler talked about Noah Baumbach writing the “Jay Kelly” part of manager Ron Sukenick for him, casually dropping that his client would be George Clooney. Adam shared a handful of Clooney memories, including the time he dragged the entire SNL cast to a YMCA to play basketball, Chris Farley included. Chalamet joked about what he will be like at 45. Sandler said, “Do me one favor. Please put on 12 pounds.”

Adam Sandler, Josh Safdie, and Timothée Chalamet at the Fairfax High School gym

Chalamet broke down the look of Marty Supreme, saying Safdie wanted a very specific physical presence: Two hours of fake pockmarks. Beady contacts. Real glasses layered on top, creating a fishbowl effect.

For the finale, chairs and lights were rolled off the basketball court and suddenly the gym was a gym again. Sandler and Chalamet challenged two very determined young men to a half-court, two-on-two game. Fairfax students or undercover phenoms? Unclear, but as they beat the living hell out of two millionaires the room went feral. Sandler and Chalamet wrapped the night by pulling the entire gym into a giant group selfie.

Walking back into the rain, I just laughed. I spent an hour listening to two icons and awards contenders talk openly about creativity, fear, risk, and the absurdity of their careers. Then I watched those same icons get absolutely worked on a basketball court by a pair of kids who did not give a single shit about their resumes.

No respect on the court. All the love in the room. Fairfax High School gymnasium felt like the most intimate screening room in the city.

Ridiculous. Human. And the perfect Saturday night.

Barack Obama Has Fans Gagged After Flirty Moment At NJ Rally

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Now y’all know when Barack Obama touches a mic, it’s never just politics — there’s always a little charm, a little humor, and a whole lot of “cool dad” energy. The former president had folks at a New Jersey rally hollering over his smooth talk this weekend… and let’s just say, one fan in particular got a personalized moment from the 44th himself.

Obama’s Still Got That Charm & He Let The Crowd Know It

During a campaign stop in support of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill, Barack Obama had the crowd fully engaged — and one woman especially caught his attention. “Oh, I love you, but hold on. I heard you, girl. Just settle down,” he laughed. “I’m here to talk to everybody, not just you. I mean, you look cute. But I’m married. Michelle’s fine too.” Whew, Obama really said, “respectfully!”

Standing at a podium marked “VOTE” with the date November 4 displayed proudly, Obama served real cool energy — crisp blue button-up, perfectly lined hairline, and that unwavering devotion to Michelle we all know and love. Beyond the jokes, he used the moment to rally voters in New Jersey and Virginia ahead of Tuesday’s elections.

The TL Couldn’t Keep Calm After This

And of course, The Shade Room comment section did what it always does — explode. Fans flooded in with love for Obama’s smooth charm, saying they “miss that personality in politics” and “he’s still got it.” Others joked that if Barack ever called them cute, they’d “never let anyone forget it.”

One Instagram user @socialnatrosha said, “I love his charismatic personality! 💕”

This Instagram user @itsmyjuniverse added, “If Obama called me cute it’s going on my resume 😂”

And, Instagram user @jojo.emale shared, “Getting called cute by the president is a read and a compliment in itself 😂”

Meanwhile, Instagram user @miss_jeavone wrote, “Classy response for a married man. 👏”

While Instagram user @q.beekay added, “‘I heard you girl’ is sending me 😂”

Lastly, Instagram user @therealkeimari commented, “I just love him so much! Michelle too ❤️😂😂😂😂”

Michelle & Barack Are Still The Blueprint

Because one thing about Barack Obama — he’s going to love him some Michelle! The forever First Lady recently spilled a little tea about how she and Barack keep the spark alive after all these years. Rocking a mustard yellow top, black pants, and gold hoops, Michelle had everyone smiling as she admitted that since they both work from home, sometimes it’s best to keep the convo light until dinner. “Don’t talk to me, save it for dinner,” she joked — and honestly, that’s relationship goals right there!

Ajith talks about obsession with stars, crowd

The actor said that he has a good life because of his fans, but the “love and attention” should be monitored. He shared how fans, in the name of celebration, burst firecrackers and tore the screens, adding that “all this needs to end.”

Ajith opens up about Vijay’s Karur rally

Ajith said, “I’m not trying to put anybody down, but like I say, there’s so much happening in Tamil Nadu today because of this stampede that happened. That individual (Vijay) alone is not responsible; we are all responsible for it, and I think even the media has a part to play in this. Today I think we have become a society that’s so obsessed with gathering a crowd, to show your crowd. All this has to end.”

He said that there are certain ways in which fans can express their love. “I mean, you have a crowd that goes for a cricket match, you don’t see all this happening there, do you? Why is it happening only in theatres? Why is it only happening with celebrities, film personalities? So, what happens? It projects the whole film industry, world over, in a bad light. I mean, even Hollywood actors or we don’t wish this. We want that love and that’s what we work hard for…There are ways you can express your love.”

Jon Sheptock, Christian Musician Who Sang at Trump Rally, Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

by jummy84 October 23, 2025

Jon Sheptock, a Christian musician and former worship minister at a Texas Baptist Church, was arrested in late September on charges of possession and production of child pornography.

As reported by ABC 13, the arrest came after his alleged victim testified that Sheptock stole a photo of her nine years ago, when she was 17. “After the defendant (Sheptock) sent the image of the victim, he told her that he wanted more explicit images of her,” reads the written testimony. “The defendant (Sheptock) then sent her a video depicting someone being physically assaulted, accompanied by a statement implying that he did not want that to happen to her.”

Court records also accuse Sheptock of showing the victim multiple nude photographs of adults and minors on his computer. The behavior allegedly continued as recently as last October, according to detectives, when Sheptock sent a text message with a nude photo of young girls to the alleged victim.

Several years before his arrest, according to The Independent, Sheptock sang the national anthem at a Donald Trump rally in January 2022 before posing for a photo with the now-president.

According to the Baptist Press, Sheptock’s now-deleted website said he was born with no arms and one leg shorter than the other before becoming “a thriving Christian recording artist and speaker.” He and his wife have been married for 26 years and have three daughters.

Sheptock served as a worship minister at the First Montgomery Baptist Church, which confirmed in a statement that he has been arrested on “charges related to child pornography,” and that he was “immediately removed” from “all responsibilities at the church.”

“He did not have responsibilities overseeing children in the church or school except occasionally in a large group setting with other adults,” the church added. “At this point, we have no information that indicates any of the children in our care were involved, but we are taking every precaution to protect our kids and to maintain the integrity of our ministry.”

Montgomery County Constable Ryan Gable said in a statement that detectives from his Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Unit arrested Sheptock on September 26th at a women’s prison in Gatesville, Texas, where he had been providing ministry services to inmates.

If convicted, Sheptock faces between two and 20 years in prison.

Tragedy at Vijay’s Karur Rally: 39 Killed in Stampede, Relief Announced By CM

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

A tragic day unfolded in Tamil Nadu’s Karur on Sunday when a stampede at actor-turned-politician Vijay’s rally left 39 people dead, including nine children and 17 women. More than 100 others were injured in the shocking incident that has shaken the state.
The rally was organised by Vijay’s newly formed party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and drew thousands of supporters. Witnesses said the crowd became difficult to control as Vijay addressed the gathering. In the commotion, several people fainted, and panic quickly escalated into a stampede, with many trampled in the rush.

Hours later, Vijay shared an emotional statement, expressing deep sorrow. “My heart is shattered. I am writhing in unbearable, indescribable pain and sorrow that words cannot express. I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur. I pray for the swift recovery of those receiving treatment in the hospital,” he said.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called an emergency meeting soon after the incident. He announced compensation of 10 lakh Rs each for the families of the deceased and directed officials to provide immediate medical attention to the injured. Helplines — 7010806322 and 04324256306 — were also shared for families seeking information about loved ones.

Vijay

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin condemned the tragedy, stressing that loss of life is not justified and called for stricter safety measures at public gatherings. Meanwhile, security has been tightened at Vijay’s Chennai residence following the incident, sources confirmed.
The stampede has cast a dark shadow over Vijay’s political debut. What was meant to be a show of strength for TVK has turned into a moment of national mourning, raising urgent questions about crowd control and event safety.
As Tamil Nadu grieves, leaders across political lines and members of the film industry have extended their condolences. For now, the focus remains on relief, recovery, and accountability for a tragedy that has claimed dozens of innocent lives.

Rajinikanth’s reaction came after over 30 people lost their lives in a stampede-like situation in actor-turned politician Vijay’s rally in Karur.

Rajinikanth on Saturday reacted to the stampede-like situation at a TVK rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, sending his thoughts to the families of people who lost their lives. The death toll includes 16 women, nine men and six children, confirmed Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian.

Rajinikanth’s note

Rajinikanth wrote in Tamil, “The news of the loss of innocent lives in the incident that occurred in Karur shakes the heart and causes immense grief.

My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Comfort to those who were injured.

#Karur #Stampede”

What happened in the rally?

The incident, described as a “stampede-like crush” by the district administration, occurred at Velusamypuram on the Karur–Erode highway, where thousands had gathered for Vijay’s ‘Velicham Veliyeru’ (‘Let There Be Light’) campaign meeting. He was addressing the audience when chaos broke out, forcing him to halt his speech.

PM Narendra Modi wrote in X,“The unfortunate incident during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Wishing strength to them in this difficult time. Praying for a swift recovery to all those injured.”

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also called the news “worrying”. “The news coming from Karur is worrying. I have called former Minister V Senthilbalaji, Minister Subramanian Ma, and the District Collector to provide immediate treatment to the civilians who have fainted due to the crowd and have been admitted to the hospital. I have also ordered the Minister from the nearby Trichy district, Anbil Mahesh, to provide necessary assistance on a war footing. I have also spoken to the ADGP there to take steps to improve the situation as soon as possible. I request the public to cooperate with the doctors and the police,” Stalin’s X post in Tamil read.

‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Hollywood Rally Urges Disney Don’t Bow to Trump

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Just an hour before ABC made the announcement that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would return to the airwaves on Tuesday, a group of politicians and Hollywood guild leaders held a press conference and rally in front of the show’s Hollywood studio to urge Disney to bring the show back.

“Trump’s allies think the First Amendment comes with an asterisk,” said Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Calif. District 30). “They think that it means it gets free speech as long as Donald Trump likes it. But he does not get to silence dissent. He does not get to tell the American people what to say or what they can and cannot listen to… This is not just about a late night show. It’s about jobs and it’s about our rights as Americans. How the FCC’s job is to protect Americans, not the President’s ego. And I would remind every corporation in America and that many of their business models cannot survive in a world where the government gets to tell them what to say.”

Friedman pulled out a large copy of the First Amendment while adding, “You do not get to cancel the United States Constitution, not today, not tomorrow, not on our watch.”

The press conference did not go off without a hitch; a Trump supporter with a microphone loudspeaker attempted to drown out the event; that’s when attendees shouted back “Free speech!” Later, a low flying Fox 11/KTTV helicopter, which was getting video of the event, also drowned out some of the speakers.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif. District 32) attempted to point out that the far-right Charlie Kirk has now been lauded as a free speech absolutist — which is why, in his mind, muzzling Kimmel was hypocritical.

“This mafia administration is so bold that they do the language of the mafia in plain sight,” he said. “What this administration is doing, what Brendan Carr is to undermine the words of Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk said you should be allowed to say outrageous things. There is rogue speech, there is evil speech, and it is all protected by the First Amendment. Jimmy Kimmel did not contradict the words of Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump did. His FCC.”

Sherman than said that he personally, as a citizen, planned to boycott and businesses that advertised on ABC at 11:35 p.m. if Kimmel was not brought back. He also said if Kimmel returned, he would support those advertisers — which is presumably what he will now do.

“The First Amendment deals with what we do as a government, and the government should be concerned, but we are also private citizens,” he said. “And I, for one, will be looking at who’s advertising on ABC from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. And speaking just for my own family, if we see Jimmy Kimmel, we’re going to watch those advertisers. And if we see alternative programming, we will be boycotting those who buy the time.”

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif. District 32), co-chairs the Congressional Creative Rights Caucus, warned that President Trump has been demanding Kimmel’s scalp for some time. “First, Trump wrote, more than two months ago that Jimmy Kimmel’s show should be canceled. Then last week, Trump’s FCC chair said that companies should take action on Kimmel, even saying that they can ‘either do it the easy way or the hard way.’ And the companies got the message.”

She then criticized Nexstar: “ABC’s largest distributor, which needs the FCC’s approval for a $6.2 billion merger, immediately followed his orders and preempted the show, and ABC took it off the air indefinitely. So this was not about comments that a comedian made about Charlie Kirk. This is about a president leveraging the power of the federal government to silence his critics, a plan he’s been open about four months. Now he’s saying that the FCC should go further and cancel the broadcasting licenses of networks that criticize him. Well, are we going to be bullied like that? Are we going to be silenced? Every single one of us has a responsibility to stand up for our constitutional rights that are under attack. And this doesn’t just fall on the shoulders of workers. We need corporations and their executives to start standing up to this coercion.”

Rep. Ted Lieu added that this is not just about Kimmel. “Last year, the Supreme Court ruled a unanimous decision that government officials cannot force third parties to punish or suppress the views that government officials is fake, and my message to ABC is very simple: You do not kneel,” he said. “What happens when you kneel? The bully comes after you again, and now the FCC chair Brendan Carr is threatening ABC because he doesn’t like the statements made by ‘The View.’ When is this going to stop? ABC, you have a choice. You can continue to be bowing or you can stand up for yourself, stand up for the First Amendment and invoke the protection of the First Amendment, an amendment that generations of Americans have given their blood, sweat and tears to defend. We will not kneel. We will continue to be true.”

And to prove his point, Lieu said: “I get to say things like Donald Trump is partly on Epstein files because he is all over the Epstein files.”

Other speakers at the event included Writers Guild of America-West president Meredith Stiehm, in addition to members of SAG-AFTRA, Teamsters, IATSE and other unions.
