Businessman Raj Kundra, husband of actress Shilpa Shetty, was questioned by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police for nearly five hours in connection with a Rs 60 crore financial fraud case. Officials have said that Kundra may be called again next week for further questioning.

According to sources, Shilpa Shetty may also be summoned soon, but no official notice has been sent to her yet. During the first round of questioning, Kundra admitted that Rs 60 crore was invested in five companies Satyug Gold, Vihaan Industries, Essential Bulk Commodities Pvt Ltd, Best Deal, and Statement Media. Police believe that this money may have been misused or diverted to other parties for personal or unrelated expenses.

The police found around Rs 25 crore in suspicious spending, including Rs 3.15 crore spent on a warehouse, Rs 20 crore on broadcasts, and rent for an office in Matunga. A payment of Rs 4 crore as a celebrity fee from his own company has also raised questions. Investigators are concerned this could be a case of misuse of company funds. Kundra’s dealings with Balaji Telefilms, owned by Ekta Kapoor, also came under the scanner. He has been asked to provide employee details and explain the equity valuation of the complainant’s shares, which was never carried out.

The EOW also asked Kundra to hand over video files from his platform. However, he claimed that the Mumbai Crime Branch had already seized them during an earlier case. The EOW will now work with the Crime Branch to access those files if needed. The investigation is still ongoing, and more developments are expected soon.

Raj Kundra made his acting debut with the Bollywood film UT69, which was based on his experiences during his time in jail. Now, he is gearing up for his second film appearance and will be making his Punjabi film debut with Mehar. The movie is scheduled to release on September 5, 2025. On Thursday, September 4, Raj Kundra took to Instagram to share a video, sharing that the first day collection of Mehar will go to the victims of the Punjab Floods.

Raj Kundra Will Donate Mehar’s Opening Collection To Punjab Flood Victims

In the video, Raj announced that the first-day worldwide collection of Mehar will be donated to the victims of the Punjab floods. He captioned the video as, “Tomorrow MEHAR hits cinemas worldwide! But this isn’t just a release… it’s relief. Day 1 worldwide collections are ALL for Punjab flood support. Be part of sewa, be part of history (sic).”

About Punjab Floods

Punjab is currently grappling with one of its worst floods in decades, with at least 37 lives lost and vast areas of farmland destroyed. The floods have caused widespread devastation, severely impacting countless families and damaging large swathes of agricultural land.

About Mehar

Directed by Rakesh Mehta, Mehar stars Geeta Basra in the lead. This marks Kundra’s second acting project after his Bollywood debut, UT69, which drew inspiration from his time in prison. In August, the makers released the trailer for Mehar, which received a positive response. The actress is making her acting comeback after a long hiatus.

Raj Kundra portrays the role of Karamjeet Singh, a Sikh man, in Mehar. The film also features a talented cast, including Master Agamveer Singh, Deep Mandeep, Ashish Duggal, Baninder Bunny, Savita Bhatti, Rupinder Rupi, Hobby Dhaliwal, Tarsem Paul, and Kulvir Sony.

Raj Kundra Opens Up About His ‘Culturally Grounded’ Upbringing

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Raj Kundra is a Punjabi at heart, and he often wins hearts by keeping himself grounded and connected to his roots. Recently, the Mehar actor took a trip down memory lane of his upbringing, revisiting memories of vacationing in Ludhiana and how he has a strict home rule to speak in Punjabi!

Raj Kundra On His Cultural Upbringing

Speaking about the same, Raj Kundra says, “If you go and see the lifestyles of Indians and Punjabis who have shifted to places like the UK and Canada, their kids have been brought up in a very grounded and desi style. They keep the Indian culture intact despite settling in foreign lands.”

He adds, “When our parents return after 15-20 years, they see the adaptability of the modern lifestyle. In many households, there’s a rule for the kids to return home at around 10 pm. But in India, people leave their houses at 10 at night to party and wander around.”

Diving deep into his younger days, Raj says, “So, we were brought up in a very grounded and protected environment. Our friends would vacation abroad, and we’d spend our vacation in Ludhiana every year. We have been vacationing in Ludhiana each year. Some of our childhood friends would talk about vacationing at Disneyland Park, and we’d talk about vacationing in Ludhiana! But that is what has kept us culturally grounded. We have learned Punjabi from our native place. At our home too, we have a rule to speak in Punjabi – English can be spoken outside.”

Raj Kundra’s Upcoming Work

Interestingly, Raj Kundra took a step ahead by wearing the traditional Punjabi turban. Earlier, the actor shared that he finds himself deeply connected to the values of the Sikh religion, encouraging him to wear the dastaar. Speaking of which, Raj is stepping into a full-fledged Punjabi role for his upcoming film, Mehar, which also stars Geeta Basra in a key role. The film is presented by DB Digitainment and Raghu Khanna, produced by Divvya Bhatnagar and Raghu Khanna, with cinematography by Ashudeep Sharma. It is scheduled to release in theatres on September 5.

Raj Kapoor Was In Coma & Dilip Kumar Kept Crying, “Maaf Kar De Mujhe” Yearning For A Last Wish

It was on the unfateful day of June 2, 1988, when the Showman of Indian Cinema, Raj Kapoor, breathed his last. The superstar passed away after struggling for his life. But in the last few days, his health deteriorated, and he slipped into Coma. While his family was by his side in these last days, his best friend Dilip Kumar was also informed about his condition.

Dilip Kumar, who was in Pakistan for an event, rushed back to Delhi to be by his best friend’s side. The superstar, however, did not know that this was the last time he was meeting his ‘Laale Di Jaan’, a title he gave him endearingly.

Dilip Kumar could not believe that Raj Kapoor had slipped into Coma, and he tried every bit to revive him. To bring him back to consciousness, the Naya Daur actor reminded the Sangam superstar of all that their childhood held in Pakistan.

Taking him down memory lane, Dilip Kumar held Raj Kapoor‘s hand and talked about their ancestral home in Peshawar, the kebabs, and how he had brought kebab ki khushboo with him from Pakistan just for his friend.

Dilip Kumar’s Heartfelt Goodbye To Raj Kapoor: A Friend’s Last Wish Left Unfulfilled

In Dilip Kumar’s autobiography, Rishi Kapoor himself wrote a note about his father’s last meeting with the Devdas actor. Both of them are helpless, one lying on the bed and the other trying to make him live just to fulfill that one wish together!

Rishi Kapoor, in his note, wrote, “I remember very clearly how he (Dilip Kumar) walked into the room where Papa was lying unconscious and drew a chair close to the bed on which he sat holding Papa’s hand. He began telling Papa, ‘Raj, aaj bhi main der se aaya. Maaf kar de mujhe..‘ I know you like to be in the limelight and have all the attention on you. Enough is enough. Get up, sit, and listen to me. I have just come back from Peshawar, and I have brought the aroma of chapli kebabs to temp you. You and I will go together and will walk through the bazaar, like we used to and enjoy the kebabs and rotis. Raj, wake up and stop acting, I know you are a great actor.”

Concluding the note Rishi Kapoor wrote a hearbreaking good bye from a friend to another friend, “…(Dilip Kumar said) Raj, mainu le jana hai tusi Peshawar de ghar de aangan wich.’ His voice was now choking and tears were brimming over from his eyes as he spoke.“

With that breaking voice, a last wish was left unfulfilled, and while Dilip Kumar looked one last time at Raj Kapoor, everyone in that hospital room knew that the Showman was not returning to them ever again.

Raj Kapoor breathed his last on June 2, 1988.

LEGENDS COME ALIVE!” – ‘Songs Of Paradise’ Trailer OUT With Soni Razdan, Saba Azad Honoring Raj Begum’s Legacy! | Glamsham.com

written by jummy84

The trailer of Songs of Paradise, featuring Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, is out, giving a poignant look into the life and legacy of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, the first female playback singer of Kashmir. Directed by renowned filmmaker Danish Renzu and co-authored with Niranjan Iyengar and Sunayana Kachroo, the film is a tribute to the legendary voice which transcended barriers and inspired generations of valley artists.

A Song of Brave Hearts and Melody
The narrative follows Noor Begum, essayed by Saba Azad and Soni Razdan in two different time frames, from a budding young singer to a tenacious cultural icon. Against the canvas of Kashmir, Noor’s life is about challenging social limitations, following dreams, and the redemptive forces of music. Her narrative is enriched by soulful songs by Abhay Sopori and Masrat Un Nissa’s haunting voice, bringing Kashmir’s rich musical heritage to life.

Saba Azad, who plays the younger Noor, described the role as a revelation. “As a singer, I was unaware of the phenomenon that is Raj Begum. This movie opened my eyes to her journey and her contribution. Songs of Paradise is not only a music story but also a tale of female strength and independence,” she said.

Honoring a Legacy
Veteran actress Soni Razdan, who plays the mature Noor Begum, called the experience deep. “The script touched me immediately. Playing Noor was all about harnessing the decades-long strength and cultural pride. This film is a strong reminder of Kashmir’s musical past,” she said.

Cast and Direction
Directed by Nicandra Alkemade for Excel Entertainment, Songs of Paradise is produced by Apple Tree Pictures Production and Renzu Films Production. The cast, which includes Zain Khan Durrani, Sheeba Chaddha, Taaruk Raina, Shishir Sharma, and Lillete Dubey, joins Azad and Razdan in a real star-studded cast.
