DGA Says WBD-Netflix Talks Raise “Significant Concerns”

by jummy84 December 5, 2025

The Directors Guild of America says it plans to meet with Netflix to discuss “concerns” regarding the streamer’s potential acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.

After news broke Thursday night that Netflix had won the bidding war for the legacy media company and the two would be entering exclusive talks to secure a deal, a guild spokesperson told Deadline that the development “raises significant concerns for the DGA.”

“We believe that a vibrant, competitive industry — one that fosters creativity and encourages genuine competition for talent — is essential to safeguarding the careers and creative rights of directors and their teams. We will be meeting with Netflix to outline our concerns and better understand their vision for the future of the company. While we undertake this due diligence we will not be commenting further,” the statement continued.

The DGA is the first, but likely not the last, Hollywood union to comment on the latest development in the WBD acquisition saga. The Writers Guild of America East and West said in a joint statement in October that they planned to block any potential merger of WBD and Paramount, warning that further media consolidation “would be a disaster for writers, for consumers, and for competition.”

Thursday was a tumultuous day that saw Paramount move aggressively to counter Netflix’s offer and seal a deal of its own for WBD. According to sources, Netflix offered around $28 a share for the company, mostly in cash.

WBD put itself on the block in October to open up the process after receiving three consecutive offers from Paramount. Warner has hoped to get a deal in place by mid-to-late December.

Doctor warns that people with underlying heart conditions should avoid energy drinks, explains why: ‘Raise heart rate…’

When exhaustion hits and deadlines pile up, it’s tempting to crack open yet another energy drink for that instant burst of alertness. But while the boost may feel harmless, it can come at a serious cost – especially if you have an underlying heart condition. The combination of high caffeine levels and added stimulants can strain the heart far more than most people realise, making caution essential for anyone relying on these drinks to power through long hours.

Dr Kunal Sood, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain medicine physician has revealed why it is best for people with heart conditions to avoid energy drinks. In an Instagram video posted on November 15, the doctor explains how these stimulant-packed beverages impact the heart and, in the worst cases, can even trigger cardiac arrest.

How do energy drinks affect the heart?

Many people reach for energy drinks to get a quick boost from their high caffeine content, but that sudden rush can pose serious risks to the heart in certain individuals. Dr Sood explains, “Drinks like Celsius, Red Bull, and Monster contain high doses of caffeine along with other stimulants such as taurine and guarana. Together, these compounds raise heart rate and blood pressure for hours after you drink them. And in some people, they can disrupt normal heart rhythm.”

He adds that for someone with an underlying or genetic heart condition, this sudden surge in stimulation can trigger dangerous arrhythmias or, in rare cases, even cardiac arrest. According to the doctor, “Some studies have also linked heavy frequent energy drink use to hypertension, clotting changes and vascular stress, though long-term evidence for direct heart disease risk is still limited.”

Recommended caffeine limit

Dr Sood highlights, “Experts generally recommend keeping caffeine intake under 400 milligrams per day. That’s about four small cups of coffee. They also recommend avoiding energy drinks entirely if you have any heart rhythm issues or sensitivity to stimulants.”

The doctor emphasises that these caffeine-packed energy drinks might help you power through a workout or late nights, but they also burden your heart with more strain than you realise. “Sometimes the best energy comes from hydration, nutrition, and recovery. Not another can,” says Dr Sood.”

Nia Long Reflects on Playing Michael Jackson’s Mom Katherine: ‘I Know What It Is to Be a Mother, But Not to Raise a Superstar’

Nia Long is opening up about the emotional journey of portraying Katherine Jackson in the upcoming biopic Michael.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the actress reflected on stepping into the role of the Jackson family matriarch, calling it “an opportunity of a lifetime.”

“I get so emotional,” Long, 54, said. “It’s not kind of a dream come true — it’s a dream come true.”

The Best Man star said she approached the role with deep reverence, describing Katherine as a woman whose “spirit is strong and kind” and whose grace inspired her throughout filming.

“It’s a huge responsibility to represent a woman who is iconic, who has carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, who is still with us gracefully,” she explained.

Though Long hasn’t yet met Katherine Jackson in person, she said she hopes the 94-year-old matriarch “enjoyed the film.”

The actress, who shares sons Massai and Kez with ex-partner Ime Udoka, drew from her own experience as a mother while preparing for the part.

“I know what it is to be a mother,” she said. “But I don’t know what it is to raise a superstar.”

Long stars alongside Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, who portrays Joe Jackson, and Michael Jackson’s real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson, who plays the late pop icon.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael will chronicle the highs and lows of the King of Pop’s life and career while also highlighting the strength and resilience of the Jackson family.

For Long, the role represents a powerful new chapter in her career — one she’s still processing.

“All of these wonderful things are happening at once … it still feels not real,” she admitted. “It’s allowing me to enjoy it. It’s allowing me to be grateful and to live with a great deal of humility.”

Michael is set to bring Katherine Jackson’s quiet strength and unwavering faith to the big screen — through the eyes of an actress who understands the power of family, love, and legacy.

Cancer specialist warns how consuming too much dairy regularly may raise cancer risk: ‘People who consume…’

Dairy products are a common part of diets worldwide, often praised for their calcium and protein content. However, like many foods, moderation is key. Consuming certain dairy products excessively may pose health risks. Dr Sharmin Yaqin, M.D. (Oncology) and cancer prevention specialist based in Dubai, shared in her October 2 Instagram post how too much dairy could increase cancer risk and shares tips for making safer dietary choices. (Also read: Cancer specialist says adding these simple foods to your plate could naturally lower your risk of cancer: ‘Fruits and…’ )

How does dairy affect cancer risk

Dairy is a staple in many diets, but according to Dr Sharmin Yaqin, it may not be as harmless as it seems. She highlights the potential risks of consuming dairy, particularly its link to cancer.

“Dairy is an inflammatory food, and any products made from cow, buffalo, or goat milk are considered inflammatory. They cause inflammation, and inflammation plays a major role in cancer,” explains Dr Yaqin.

She stresses that this applies to everyone, regardless of whether a person currently has any illness. “Dairy impacts inflammation, so it should be avoided, whether or not someone has a medical condition,” Dr Yaqin adds.

Which dairy products are linked to prostate cancer

In particular, research has shown a connection between dairy consumption and prostate cancer. “For example, in the case of prostate cancer, studies indicate that people who consume dairy daily are at a higher risk. Whether it’s paneer, processed cheese, yoghurt, milk, or cream in any form, dairy can be harmful,” she says.

Dr Yaqin advises that being mindful of dairy intake and choosing anti-inflammatory alternatives can play a key role in reducing cancer risk and supporting overall health.

Dutch independent radio stations announce 15-hour broadcast in to raise money for Palestine

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Ten independent Dutch radio stations are joining forces for a special 15-hour broadcast to raise money for Palestine. Find all the details below.

The live-stream, dubbed ‘Transmission For Palestine’, is set to air between 10am local time on Sunday (September 28) and 1am on Monday (29).

Listeners will be able to tune into special programming on Radio Radio, Echobox, Folder FM, Pip Radio, Future Intel, Operator, Maxi Radio, Radio Hinter, Open Source Radio and Relate Radio.

Organisers said fans can attend an in-person “community event” over the 15 hours, where they can enjoy music, drinks and food. “You might even get a prize in our raffle!” they added. “You can get lucky with club tickets, gift cards, merch, records, and much more.”

The event is open to the public on a donation basis, with all proceeds going directly to Dutch charity Plant een Olijfboom.

Per the listing, the organisation “supports Palestinian people with essentials like blankets, clothes, water, food and medicine, while also working to raise awareness in the Netherlands about the occupation and colonisation of Palestinian land by Israel and the reality of living in Palestine”.

Those who are unable to attend in person can make a donation online in the run-up to the broadcast, and via the live-stream itself.

“Bring your friends, show up and support!” organisers added. You’ll be able to listen to ‘Transmission For Palestine’ here.

Last week saw Brian Eno host his huge ‘Together For Palestine’ charity show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley. The event featured performances from Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, Cat Burns, Rachel Chinouriri, Yasiin Bey, Bastille’s Dan Smith and more. Presenters on the night included Eric Cantona, PinkPantheress, Richard Gere, Benedict Cumberbatch, Florence Pugh and Nicola Coughlan.

The concert, which was also available as a livestream, raised just under £1.5million for the ‘Together For Palestine Fund’. This will be distributed to Palestinian-led organisations such as Taawon, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund and Palestine Medical Relief Service.

Speaking to NME at the gig, Eno said he “doesn’t blame” those feeling helpless about the ongoing situation in Palestine. However, he called on music fans to always have hope that change is possible with enough solidarity and conversation.

“Don’t be hopeless. You are in the middle of the biggest social movement in human history,” Eno assured. Watch the video interview in full above.

What’s Going On? Britney Spears’ N**d Instagram Pics Raise Eyebrows – Is Everything Okay? | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Pop sensation Britney Spears has once again set the internet ablaze and raised new eyebrows among fans after sharing a naked photo on Instagram. Famous for her unpredictable social media presence, the singer’s latest post is generating headlines for both its brazenness and the raising of new questions over her health.

A Naked Post That Left Fans Speechless

In the photo posted on Instagram, the Gimme More singer can be seen in the buff, with her back turned to the camera as she looks out through a large window. Britney has her arms extended above her head, and she’s wearing nothing but a pair of knee-high black boots. A small rose emoji adorns her lower area as she freely wears her long blonde hair down her back.

The image went up without a caption, and Spears turned off comments on the post a gesture widely seen as a means to protect herself from backlash or worry. Even so, the post received more than 200,000 likes in just 14 hours, reports People magazine.

Strange Videos Raise Eyebrows

This is not the first time in recent weeks that Spears’ social media behavior has caused concern. On August 18, she posted a strange clip in which she danced around a messy room in her home, singing Rihanna’s Unfaithful in a half-British accent. The video, which showed dogs roaming in the background and what looked like dog poop on the floor, elicited divided response.

Wearing a red-and-white polka dot crop top and pink shorts, Britney wrote the following caption for the clip: “Messing around with lighting and cleaning my house like no tomorrow.” Though comments were turned off on Instagram, fans worried sick on X (formerly Twitter). Some wondered if the artist was in a healthy place mentally, but others advocated for her ability to let her hair down and be free.

Ongoing Debate Around Britney’s Well-Being

Since the end of her conservatorship in 2021, Spears has had a very unfiltered online presence. As much as some fans are hailing her emancipation, others are anxious about what her erratic entries can imply regarding her mental health. The argument has come to polarize her fans those calling for assistance, and others demanding that people should leave her alone.

Whether they are a cry for assistance or an expression of self remains uncertain, but Britney Spears’ Instagram remains a platform that attracts notice, uproar, and concern in equal quantities.
