bitchy | Times: Is Princess Kate ‘allowed’ to change up her hairstyle significantly?

by jummy84 September 5, 2025

One of the great things about Princess Diana was that she was both a trendsetter and a trend-follower. She loved the “more is more” ethos of 1980s fashion and styling, and then, right on trend, she went for a cleaner, more minimalist look in the 1990s. Diana switched up her hairstyles with frequency, and so many women copied her hair. Well, the inheritor of the Princess of Wales title is also known for her style and her hair, although the comparisons between Kate and Diana have always been strained, if not completely ridiculous. Well, Kate’s big appearance today in London has got people talking about her hair/wig and what it all means. Is Kate “allowed” to change her hair color this dramatically? Is she the first brunette in her 40s to go with a lighter color? The Times of London had this piece:

On a visit to London’s Natural History Museum today, the Princess of Wales was elegantly put together as always but with one big difference. Kate has gone blonde. In truth, she’s been creeping this way for some time. At first it was “bronde”, a gentle lightening of her dark brown hair; by the time of the French presidential visit in July, it was closer to caramel; now it looks to have edged towards honey blonde. Our first glimpse of her new look came last month, when she was seen with fairer-looking hair in the car on the way to church from Balmoral, though it wasn’t clear if it was just a trick of the light. But today’s pictures are confirmation that she has definitely lightened up.

Which may seem like no news at all. It’s usual to see celebrities reveal drastic makeovers: an extreme haircut for a new film role, expensive cosmetic surgery in time for red-carpet season. Kate having a few highlights shouldn’t be a shock. But our expectations of modern royals are anything but modern.

Queen Elizabeth II set the expectations for a royal woman ageing in the public eye: to be always and instantly recognisable to your public. Camilla hasn’t changed her hair in years — it’s just a fraction lighter than it was 25 years ago, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s still using the same round brush to blow-dry those flicky-out ends. Perhaps it’s to ensure consistency on those commemorative plates. Kate was a brunette at her royal wedding, so brunette she must stay.

But she’s also part of a younger generation — mine, actually — though she may seem much more pulled together than most millennials. I was 12 when I first dyed my hair in the bathtub at home; 15 when I had blonde highlights. The temptation to go blonde is strong when pop culture and beauty ideals tell you that you’re missing something; that blondes have more fun, that gentlemen prefer them. I went blonde again in my late twenties, peroxide this time. And since the greys have started peppering my brunette hair, I’ve been discussing with my hairdresser a few honeyish streaks of my own, the better to blend in greys.

That warm, flattering, face-brightening honey shade is a go-to, almost a default, for white women in their forties, fifties and sixties, as much a hair milestone as the new-mum bob or the break-up big chop. With Jennifer Aniston as a poster girl, it’s a transition that many of Kate’s close friends will be making around her. Her mother, Carole, has slices of warm blonde in her bob.

Supporting British fashion houses boosts the economy, but it seems that public opinion deems it undignified for our royals to stray too far into vanity — as if a hair transplant for a receding royal may weaken the empire. Where do we draw the line? Will the Wales children be allowed dodgy teenage hair? Emo side-sweeps, self-cut fringes … not tattoos or piercings, surely? Where do we stand on traintrack braces — and would they be allowed to choose any colour for their elastics, or is there a pre-approved palette?

[From The Times]

Here’s the thing – no reasonable person actually *wanted* Kate to keep the same general hairstyle and color for the rest of her married life. When she brought out the doll-wig extensions in her first year of marriage, it’s like she got addicted to that particular look – the sausage curls, the volume and the length. People who actually like Kate and want her to look her best have been begging her for years to ditch the wiglets and hairpieces and just get a cute shoulder-length bob. I wouldn’t even take issue with the color – and I don’t consider this blonde, it’s caramel or bronde – specifically because this is what so many women do as they deal with grey hair, they go lighter. But they also go shorter too, which Kate seems incapable of. And just to be clear, this was not Kate sitting at a hair salon for hours to achieve this color.

bitchy | Princess Kate debuted her new caramel hair at the Natural History Museum

by jummy84 September 5, 2025

Two weekends ago, the Princess of Wales soft-launched her new “blonde” hair during a visit to Balmoral. We were waiting to see if Kate was still trying out a new color for her first work event in months. These are photos from Kate and Prince William’s visit to the Natural History Museum’s updated gardens today. Of course it rained like hell, but there were some dry moments, enough for people to get a look at Kate’s new hair. New wig, who dis??? My God. Sometimes I wonder if I’m being too harsh about the state of Kate’s hair, but honey… there’s a whole world of high-quality and realistic-looking wigs and hairpieces. And yet Kate always goes for the cheapest ones out there. Even if you argue (hilariously) that this is all of Kate’s natural hair, the color is what really makes it look so cheap! This color isn’t from sunning herself on a yacht, it came from a colorist who doesn’t know how to do good-quality caramel highlights.

Kate’s blazer is Ralph Lauren, but I haven’t seen any IDs on any of the other pieces. Her necklace is Daniella Draper, and it features the initials of her three kids. She’s worn that before, I’m almost positive. Yesterday, GB News published an odd piece about Kate’s jewelry and how she’s making an effort to wear fewer big, stately jewels. Like… yeah, we know, and that’s part of the copykeening as well.

Inside the Surreal Final Days Before Princess Diana’s Death

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

So, Diana took her friend, Egyptian business magnate and Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed, up on his longstanding invitation to host her, along with William and Harry, at his vacation home in Saint-Tropez.

Dodi Fayed, Mohamed’s eldest son, showed up on July 14, a few days into the princess’ stay, docking his boat near his father’s yacht, the Jonikal. The 42-year-old movie producer was accompanied by his model fiancée Kelly Fisher, though Dodi would later deny that they were engaged.

Mohamed, who used to arrange private shopping excursions for the princess at his famed London department store after it had closed for the evening, was excited by the prospect of a love connection between Diana and his son.

Kelly left for work on July 18 and Dodi started spending more time with Diana and her sons, renting out a nightclub so they could dance in peace and taking the trio to an amusement park.

Diana called it the “best holiday of my life,” per Morton.

But in light of the tragic news, after dropping the boys back home in the U.K. she flew to Milan to attend the July 22 funeral for Versace.

bitchy | Us Weekly: Princess Kate is ’emphasizing her family & well-being over duties’

by jummy84 August 29, 2025

One of my relatively minor peeves about magazine covers with the Princess of Wales is that editors consistently lighten her eyes. Kate’s eyes are a dark hazel usually, but mag editors are constantly giving her blue or green eyes. Justice for hazel eyes! Anyway, Us Weekly’s new cover is all about Light-eyed Kate and her “royal reset.” It’s weird that in this particular case, “royal reset” is code for “her annual summer holiday.” That’s all this is – embiggening Kate’s summer vacation and trying desperately to make it sound like she’s really keen to work eventually, no promises though. Some highlights:

Attending the Wimbledon finals: Going with William and the kids was a deliberate choice, says a source, “to blend her royal duties with family time.” Prioritizing family-friendly moments is something Kate plans to do more of as she continues to navigate her new normal, which now includes a move out of Adelaide Cottage and into Forest Lodge, their forever home.

A cancer-free life: “Kate’s outlook has changed, and her priorities have shifted,” says a source. “[She’s] emphasizing her family and her well-being over [intense] duties.” It’s a decision that Kate and William made together. They’ve established limits on what they will and will not do to protect their mental health and home life, says a second source. “While they take their responsibilities very seriously, they are not afraid to say no when necessary….Kate knows visibility is crucial for maintaining the monarchy’s profile, but she doesn’t need to be at everything. She’s [being more] intentional.”

Kate’s recovery: The source says chemotherapy took “an emotional and physical toll” on Kate, and the effects have lingered. “Fatigue has been a big one, and she continues to deal with it in her recovery journey.” She realizes her health is key and defers to her medical team. “Kate listens to her advisers, but ultimately it’s up to her doctors. They guide her decisions,” says the source, noting that it’s essential for her to keep her stress levels down.

Kate’s connection with cancer survivors: “Kate enjoys speaking to others who have been through what she has,” says the source. “It’s important for her to connect with others. It’s therapeutic for her, and she wants to bring as much awareness as possible.”

A summer at Anmer Hall. “They have an outdoor swimming pool and a tennis court, where they indulge their love for sports,” reveals Marlene Koenig. “William and Catherine have been reportedly having dinner at different restaurants and pubs in the Norfolk area, and they and the children attend fun fairs and other events privately, without press intrusion,” she adds, noting that locals “respect their privacy.”

A yacht holiday in Greece: They went to Kefalonia, where they stayed on a yacht and explored caves and beaches. “The kids were eager to go on an adventure,” says the source, explaining they chose Kefalonia because of its serene, private setting. “It was just what Kate needed — a family-focused trip to help her recovery and emotional well-being,” says the source. (Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, joined them.) “William just wants her to be happy and rested. It was a great way to achieve that and have everyone together.” The source says Kate is happiest doing “normal family things” with William and the kids. “She prefers that over being in a ballgown, but she understands she has to do that, too.” She and William have protected the children from Kate’s health issues as much as they can. “The kids understand a bit of what Kate has been through, but she doesn’t want to put too much stress on them, so she doesn’t go into much detail,” shares the source. “They know she had cancer and she is in remission.”

William remains her rock. “He’s cut down on his work engagements to be more present over the past year and a half,” notes royal commentator Kristen Meinzer. “He’s always there for support,” adds the source. As for talk of a reconciliation between the couple and Prince Harry — who reportedly agreed to share his official schedule with his estranged dad, King Charles, in an effort to reconnect — the source says there’s a chance they could mend fences, “but it will take time.”

Kate’s schedule: “Royal aides and event planners often receive short notice days in advance. Due to Kate’s day-to-day health assessments, there can be last-minute decisions,” says the source. The source adds that Kate “isn’t focused on keeping up appearances. She’s focused on her recovery.” She also values this time before William eventually takes the throne as king. “Once that happens, things will change,” notes the source. “So they’re getting in as much family time as
possible.”

[From Us Weekly]

Back when Kate was the Duchess of Cambridge, her PR was always “she’s preparing to be queen, she’s the best future queen ever!” I always pointed out that it was extremely weird that she never had any plans for her “Princess of Wales years,” as the wife of the heir to the throne. This cannot have been the plan, right? To create an extremely fragile cover story about how Kate still isn’t ready for any additional responsibilities, and in fact cannot even handle a similarly meager workload to what she had in the 2010s? To dress up her endless vacations and flaky last-minute cancellations as a medical necessity? To continue to kick the can down the road, saying outright that Kate deserves to take it easy because William isn’t king yet? They’ve also stopped promising that Kate will eventually be keen – their new strategy is that of a status quo, a holding pattern where Kate is constantly coddled and no one can ever expect absolutely anything from her.

How Much the Princess of Dubai Has – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 August 29, 2025

Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum, a princess of Dubai, has made a name for herself over the years as an educated and accomplished entrepreneur, royal and mother of one daughter. In August 2025, she made headlines for her engagement to rapper French Montana (real name: Karim Kharbouch). Since the couple come from different backgrounds, many are wondering how Sheikha Mahra’s royalty, net worth and family will affect their future marriage.

Learn more about Sheikha Mahra below.

Who Is Sheikha Mahra?

Sheikha Mahra bint Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum is a Dubai royal and daughter of the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He is also the vice president and prime minister of the UAE.

As an accomplished businesswoman, Sheikha Mahra studied international relations in London, as seen on her Instagram, and she created her fragrance line, Mahra M1.

Sheikha Mahra is perhaps better known by others around the world as the bold Dubai princess who called out her ex-husband, Emirati businessman Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, on social media last year for having “other companions.” The former spouses married in April 2023 and welcomed their daughter in May 2024. That July, Sheikha Mahra called him out in an Instagram post.

“Dear husband, as you’re occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” she wrote in the since-deleted post. “I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife.”

The royal subsequently released the fragrance “Divorce” under Mahra M1, seemingly as a sly reference to her former marriage.

Sheikha Mahra’s public statement was daring because it was similar to the Islamic practice known as “triple talaq,” which is a law allowing only Muslim men to divorce their wives by saying it three times, per the BBC.

How Old Is the Sheikha Mahra the Princess of Dubai?

Sheikha Mahra is 31 years old as of August 2025.

What Is Sheikha Mahra’s Net Worth?

Sheikha Mahra is not only the daughter of Dubai’s ruler — she’s also a businesswoman and creator behind the fragrance line Mahra M1. However, most of her wealth comes from her family, and her father was worth an estimated $4 billion in 2019, according to Business Insider.

How Long Has Sheikha Mahra Been With French Montana?

Sheikha Mahra never publicly commented on her relationship with French Montana, so the exact timeline of their relationship is unclear. However, they sparked romance rumors in late 2024 when they were seen holding hands in Paris. They even reportedly left a famous “love lock” on the Pont des Arts bridge, according to NDTV via The Independent.

A rep for Montana told TMZ that the couple got engaged in June 2025 during the Paris Spring/Summer 2026 fashion shows.

Actually, Anne Hathaway Had Two Princess Diaries Moments During That Devil Wears Prada Tumble

by jummy84 August 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Yes, yes, Anne Hathaway had a very Princess Diaries moment while filming The Devil Wears Prada 2.

By now you’ve likely seen photos and video of Hathaway’s heel snapping off, leading the 42-year-old actor to fall down a stoop in New York City on August 27. Luckily, she was quick to pop back up with a smile on her face, which meant fans were safe to share references to another famous tumble she took while filming The Princess Diaries in the year 2000.

Even Hathaway herself got nostalgic, sharing an edit of both falls on Instagram with the caption, “Twenty years later, still falling for you… 💕”

Anne Hathaway is seen on the set of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on August 27, 2025.

But not enough people are mentioning that Andy Sachs’ latest look was already a sartorial reference to The Princess Diaries. Aside from the studded—and apparently unstable—heels, Hathaway was dressed in a knee-length Fendi skirt with fluid pleating and gold hardware, which she paired with a sheer plaid top over a black bra. Of course, she finished off the look with Andy’s trusted Coach messenger bag.

You know who else wore knee-length pleated skirts and plaid?

Intentional or not, I will never look at Anne Hathaway in this combo without thinking of Mia Thermopolis, so there was absolutely no need for her to recreate the moment so viscerally! Although, now that I think about it, the skirt’s length and layers made it the best possible choice for a trip, as there was little risk of flashing the paparazzi…

Obviously, I’m kidding. I highly doubt Hathaway purposefully broke her heel—just like she didn’t intentionally fall on those bleachers during that painfully funny moment in The Princess Diaries. Just like this time, Hathaway remembers slipping, laughing, and keeping things moving after slipping on a puddle during the scene with Heather Matarazzo.

“Never thought about it again and all of a sudden, like six months later, it’s in the trailer,” she recalled while honoring late director Gary Marshall back in 2021. “He kept it! He kept it because it was a charming moment.”

Only time will tell if The Devil Wears Prada 2 director David Frankel will make the same call but either way, I want that skirt.

bitchy | Princess Kate debuts her new honey-blonde hair for a ride to church in Scotland

by jummy84 August 26, 2025

The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Scotland over the weekend. They’re actually called the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, although very few outlets have actually called them by their Scottish titles. According to the Telegraph, the Wales/Rothesay family arrived in Balmoral for “the bank holiday,” meaning (I assume) that they arrived at Balmoral last Friday? Then on Sunday, the whole family was photographed in a car, on their way to church. William drove, with Kate riding shotgun, and all three kids in back. Something horrible to note: no one in the car wore a crossbody seatbelt, not even the kids in the back. William and Kate should absolutely wear their seatbelts in the front too.

Meanwhile, the big story of the Rothesays’ first post-Wimbledon public appearance is that Kate has dramatically lightened her hair this summer. We haven’t seen her since July 13, the Wimbledon men’s final, and in that time, she’s been trying a summery blonde shade. I would actually consider this more of a honey/caramel shade, similar to Jennifer Aniston’s long-time “bronde” color. It really does nothing for her?? And it also highlights that even with all of these vacations and “summers off,” Kate should look well-rested and tan. Instead, she looks pale, drawn and completely exhausted.

👑 The Princess appears to be having a blonde moment – and we can expect the rest of the world to follow suit

bitchy | Princess Kate ‘never misses’ her kids’ soccer and rugby matches

The current Princess of Wales is often credited with inventing things which have existed for years, decades or centuries. Remember the log seat Kate “invented”? Remember when she invented maternity leave? Remember when she invented buttons? Good times. Well, this week, Kate is being credited with inventing soccer-moms. You see, one of the new Real Housewives of London claimed that she sees Kate at the Wales kids’ sporting events all the time, which is a brand new thing and definitely not what Princess Diana was known for either! Behold, an excerpt from Tom Sykes’ Substack “Soccer Mom Kate Is Raising Her Children a Whole New, Very Un-Royal Way.”

Prince William and Princess Kate’s parenting style has long been a source of fascination to me. I strongly believe these two are going to raise the first generation of royal children not to be traumatized by their upbringing in over 70 years. I have several friends whose kids either go or went to the same school as William and Kate’s kids and I checked in with them today after Real Housewives of London star Panthea Parker, speaking to Hello!, gave a rare insight into the Waleses parenting style.

She revealed that the Princess of Wales never misses her children’s sports matches, whether soccer or rugby. Her son’s school plays against Prince George’s, she explained, so she often sees Kate cheering from the sidelines.

“I see her quite a few times because my son’s school plays against her son’s school. So they play rugby and football against each other so we’re always at her school or my school. I do see her a lot but not to talk to, just from afar. So classy, so lovely, and she never misses any of her children’s matches, so really amazing.”

I have heard variations on this theme from many parents over the years. One parent whose kids were at school with them when they lived in London told me: “They always showed up to absolutely everything. Often both of them, but always Kate. She never wore make-up at school events or on the school run, and we were all very protective of her. She always looked amazing, but noticeably very slim. She often looked absolutely shattered, just like the rest of us, but was relentlessly cheerful.”

A parent whose children attend their current school told me: “They are like caricatures of middle-class parents. I went to the house for a kid’s birthday party, and they were the ones organizing the games and playing rounders [a British game similar to baseball]. Any of us lot would get an entertainer in and sit in the house drinking rosé.”

It’s always been very clear that William and Kate have made a conscious decision to fight for their children’s day-to-day lives to be steeped in normality, a habit setting them apart from previous generations of royal parents.

[From The Royalist]

While I agree that Kate is trying to raise the kids differently than “the royal way,” I also think she just doesn’t know any other way, and William is fine with it. The reason William is fine with it is because Diana already paved the way and broke all of those stuffy traditions anyway. The biggest difference between Diana and Kate is that Kate seems extremely opposed to boarding schools, whereas Diana was fine with shipping off her sons to boarding schools when they were pretty young (too young, if you ask me). Kate is a pretty typical Millennial/Xennial helicopter parent, super-involved in her kids’ school lives and sporting events. Also: “She always looked amazing, but noticeably very slim. She often looked absolutely shattered, just like the rest of us, but was relentlessly cheerful.” Hm.

bitchy | Telegraph: Princess Kate needs a new home untainted by terrible memories

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

When we first learned, over the weekend, of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s planned move to Forest Lodge, their office confirmed that they have no plan to ever live in Buckingham Palace. Or Windsor Castle. Or Clarence House. Their “future-planning” for when they are king and queen includes “staying” in Kensington Palace Apt. 1A, plus Forest Lodge, plus Anmer Hall. My reaction was disbelief. Not “disbelief” in the sense that I couldn’t believe their audacity. “Disbelief” in the sense that I do not believe their current claims whatsoever, and I find William and Kate’s office so lacking in credibility, it’s bonkers that anyone really believes anything coming out of their mouths. I think whenever William becomes king, suddenly we’ll be told something else entirely about the family’s living arrangements and plans. But in the meantime, the royal sycophants are falling all over themselves to justify the palace’s talking points. The Telegraph’s Hannah Furness writes, in the newspaper’s Royal Appointment blog, that at least William is being “honest” and upfront. Boot-licker.

Full marks to Prince William for honesty this week. He has made clear that he has no intention of living full time at Buckingham Palace, even when he is King. Controversial, certainly. But there is something refreshing in letting it be known now, upfront, and getting any criticism out of the way. The Waleses and their young family will be moving to Forest Lodge, a large-by-my-standards but small-by-royal-standards home not too far from their current residence Adelaide Cottage. Safe to say it is very on-brand for the Waleses.

They will still be without live-in staff: a Middleton upbringing rather than a Royal one. In a generation to come, the practice of former royal valets, butlers and underfootmen building a second career out of their glimpses of the Royal family in their private quarters will be gone.

The Wales family have been at Adelaide Cottage for three years, although I imagine periods of that must have felt like a lifetime. They have been both very happy and indescribably sad, worried and in pain there. It is not too much of a stretch to imagine how they now associate the property with the most difficult time of their life. Does the Princess look around her and remember the exact place she told her children she had cancer? The bed and sofa where she recovered from chemotherapy, anxious for the future?

The decision to move a short drive away will give the family a chance for a “fresh start and a new chapter”, a source has said, leaving “some of the more unhappy memories behind”. Anyone who has been through personal trauma will understand that instinct on a visceral level.

It leaves a question around Buckingham Palace, although that is not, frankly, a new issue at this point. Monarchy HQ has not been the home of a monarch since before Covid-19, and the King and Queen are happily living at Clarence House while the palace’s long renovation continues. We have been told repeatedly that the intention is for the King to move in eventually but I’m not sure anyone really believes that anymore. Like the old assurances that Camilla would never be known as Queen (the idea, 20 years ago, was that she would be “Princess Consort”), these things move on and the palace hopes that the public gradually gets used to something different.

It is to Prince William’s credit that he is being clear about his plans now. The estimated 775 rooms in Buckingham Palace can be used as offices and staff quarters, to host events, and opened up further to visitors. For tourists, if the palace is an office rather than a home, the old magic of seeing the Royal Standard fly above it and wondering if they might catch a glimpse of the monarch is diminished. But the institution must find a way of retaining it. With £369m having been spent on refurbishing the palace to make it safe and fit for use, the public must understand how it will be used to everyone’s benefit, other than for a few royal “balcony moments” each year. That is a question for the future.

For now, a source says, the Waleses are “looking forward to creating many happy memories in their new home”. After a tricky few years, it doesn’t seem too much to ask.

[From Royal Appointment]

“It is not too much of a stretch to imagine how they now associate the property with the most difficult time of their life. Does the Princess look around her and remember the exact place she told her children she had cancer? The bed and sofa where she recovered from chemotherapy, anxious for the future?” By this rationale, surely they would need a different country home in Norfolk as well, considering Kate spent a good deal of her recovery at Anmer Hall? And what about her parents’ home, Middleton Manor in Bucklebury? Surely they need a new manor house because of all the dreadful memories. Do the kids need to go to a new school as well? That’s the problem with arguing that you need an emotional-support mansion. They really should have used a different rationale. And no, I don’t have to hand it to William for being “honest.” These people have been lying and obfuscating for the past two years (longer than that).
