SVU Star Ice-T Talks Season 27 Premiere Twist

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Fin Tutuola will take a beating when Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns for its 27th season, according to Ice-T.

“In the first episode, something bad happens to me, and I end up in the hospital,” the rapper-turned-actor told People in a new interview as he hyped up SVU’s September 25 return.

In fact, it sounds like Fin’s hospitalization might take the NYPD sergeant out of commission for a while.

“I wasn’t in the second episode, but I’m back in the third,” Ice-T said. “They move us around.”

Virginia Sherwood/NBC

The longtime SVU star said he and his fellow cast members “have no idea” where the show is heading, with the possible exception of Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson), since she’s also an executive producer of the NBC series.

“Until we get a script, we don’t know,” he explained. “When I showed up for the first episode, I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m getting my ass beat? Really?’ In the past, it was like, ‘Oh, you’re gonna get married this year.’ I’m like, ‘Married to who?’ ‘Right — Phoebe.’ I was like, ‘I’m in, I guess.’”

(Fin and Phoebe Baker, played by Jennifer Esposito, were engaged to be married in Season 22 but ultimately decided to keep their relationship the way it was.)

Still, Ice-T says he’s enjoying the job. “I’ve been on Law & Order for over 25 years now,” he said. “And filming for the new season has been great.”

And it’s great in part because Kelli Giddish is coming back to play Amanda Rollins full-time.

“I’m in love with everybody on the show, so it’s good to be back with her,” Ice-T told People. “Kevin [Kane] and Aimé [Donna Kelly] came on as series regulars. So you know, we pass the buck around.”

bitchy | Amal Clooney tried to out-dazzle her sick husband at the Venice ‘Jay Kelly’ premiere

George Clooney arrived in Venice earlier this week, where he was set to promote and premiere his new film, Jay Kelly. On Thursday, George was supposed to do the press conference and some individual interviews, but he ended up pulling out of all of it because he was feeling under the weather. They’re saying it’s a sinus infection, but I kind of wonder if he was suffering from the Don’t-Ask-Me-Political-Questions virus. His ratf–king with Jake Tapper blew up in his face, and while the international media might not care or ask, the American media might. Still, George “rallied” in time to walk the red carpet with Amal. He apparently told reporters that he can’t hear anything (convenient) and he was seen clutching his sore throat at times.

Amal looked… okay. While I love this vivid violet shade, I’ve never been into Amal’s love of mullet dresses. The train was very dramatic though, and the whole ensemble photographed very well, even if it’s a dated, button-covered disaster once you look at the details. In George and Amal’s early years, I loved her hair, and she regularly got really great blowouts back in the day. But in recent years, she’s been having a lot of bad hair days. Her hair is too long and it looks damaged and in need of some good conditioning treatments. Her colorist is also doing a terrible job! Update: I just saw the ID for Amal’s dress, it’s a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer by Erik Mortensen. I honestly thought it was a custom Giambattista Valli.

Meanwhile, I was fully prepared to hate on this movie because of George Clooney, little did I know that my nemesis Laura Dern is also in Jay Kelly! LMAO, I hope this sh-t bombs so hard. Her bangs are trash!! (Her Armani is okay-ish although it looks unfinished.)

Eve Hewson in Schiaparelli – I kind of like this, and I usually roll my eyes at Schiaparelli.

Riley Keough in Chloé – it looks like something she would wear.

And finally, Greta Gerwig (her husband/partner Noah Baumbach directed Jay Kelly). This is custom Rodarte. Not bad.

Wynton Marsalis to Premiere ‘Afro!,’ to Open Jazz at Lincoln Center

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Jazz at Lincoln Center will launch its “Mother Africa” season with the world premiere of “Afro!,” a new commission by managing and artistic director — and jazz legend — Wynton Marsalis, on Sept. 18–20 at 7:30 p.m. in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s New York home, Frederick P. Rose Hall.

Performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Marsalis, Djembefola (master of the djembe drum) Weedie Braimah, and vocalist Shenel Johns, “Afro!” opens Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2025-26 season of concerts, education programs, and other events celebrating Africa’s influence on jazz.

Following its New York premiere, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis alongside drummer Herlin Riley, Braimah, and Johns will take Afro! and other selections from its celebrated repertoire on the Orchestra’s first multi-city tour of Africa.

Nearly 20 years ago, in 2006, Marsalis premiered “Congo Square,” which evoked the spirit of the historic New Orleans site — at one time, the only place in America where African slaves were allowed to dance and play drums. Composed for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Odadaa!, a nine-piece Ghanaian percussion and vocal ensemble, the piece celebrated the cultural roots and mythic birthplace of jazz.

“Afro!” explores the deep ties between jazz, the African continent, and its diaspora, a leitmotif that the Orchestra previously addressed in other past Marsalis opuses as “Blood on the Fields” (1996), “Ochas” (2014), and the fresh big band arrangements comprising its “The South African Songbook” concert (2019).

Tickets for Wynton Marsalis’ Afro! with Weedie Braimah and Shenel Johns: The Ertegun Jazz Concert include access to a pre-concert lecture in the The Agnes Varis and Karl Leichtman Studio at 6:30 p.m. on Sept.18-20. Audiences are welcome to a free performance by the Zwelakhe-Duma Bell le Pere Quartet in the Ertegun Atrium at 6:30 p.m. and during intermission on Sept.18 and 19. Ticket prices begin at $30.

The Sept. 18 performance will live stream exclusively on jazzlive.com.

In addition to concerts in convention centers and open-air venues, the Orchestra will perform or collaborate with local musicians in each city, and host education initiatives at local schools.

“The earliest and most fundamental human mythology is African,” Marsalis says. “From Venda to Igbo to a host of other belief systems across the continent, there are viable solutions to today’s challenges.”

“Our ancestors had cogent and powerful thoughts on who we are as individuals as we pass through the natural cycles of life, how we should relate to one another socially, and how to be one with the universal spirit that inhabits all,” he continues. “In their globally influential music and dance concepts, we can perceive how to find harmony and balance with nature, how to perceive and interact with the supernatural, and how to create endless variations on fundamental themes in pursuit of a good time.”

Cast, Premiere Date, More Details on Ryan Murphy FX Series

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Ryan Murphy is about to take us back to 1980s Los Angeles. The TV producer mogul is adapting Bret Easton Ellis’ psychological horror novel The Shards, and he’s assembled quite the cast.

The Shards, which was released in 2021, is loosely inspired by the American Psycho author’s own life growing up. A TV adaptation initially started out at HBO, but those plans fell through. Now, Murphy has taken The Shards over to FX.

On July 16, key cast members were revealed. Who is playing the fictional version of Bret Easton Ellis? What about the mysterious Robert Mallory? TV Insider is breaking down all the updates about The Shards TV series.

When is The Shards coming out?

The Shards doesn’t have a premiere date yet. We first heard about the show’s move to FX back in May. Given the casting news, production will likely get underway this year. The earliest The Shards would premiere is 2026.

Who has been cast in The Shards?

Igby Rigney has been cast as a young Bret Easton Ellis in The Shards, per Variety. Rigney is best known for his roles in the Mike Flanagan TV universe, including Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Midnight Club.

Homer James Jigme Gere will play Robert Mallory, the new kid at the posh Buckley prep school that Bret attends. The 25-year-old is the son of Richard Gere. The Shards will mark his first major role.

In a Ryan Murphy-style twist, the young Gere will star alongside Kaia Gerber in The Shards. Gerber is attached to star in the series, but the character she’s playing remains unclear. Gerber’s mom, Cindy Crawford, was married to Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995.

Hayes Warner has also been cast in the adaptation as a series regular. The singer will play popular girl Debbie Shaffer, another student at the exclusive prep school. Deadline first reported the news on August 22.

Graham Campbell will play Bret’s best friend, Thom. The series will be his first TV role.

What is The Shards about?

The Shards takes place primarily in 1981, Bret’s senior year of high school. An older Bret recalls what happened that fateful year when he met Robert Mallory and the “Trawler” terrorized Los Angeles. Bret becomes obsessed with the serial killer who is seemingly targeting young women in the Los Angeles area. As Robert Mallory is welcomed into Bret’s friend group, Bret becomes convinced this enigmatic young man is hiding secrets.

The Shards was initially serialized by Ellis as an audiobook through his podcast before he traditionally published in 2021.

The countdown to Bigg Boss 19 has officially begun, and fans have more than one reason to celebrate! Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has returned as the host, and his first look from the grand premiere is already setting the internet on fire. Dressed in an all-black blazer and pants, Salman was recently spotted on the sets, sparking massive excitement as he prepares to launch the latest season of India’s most talked-about reality show.

Salman, known for his unmatched charisma and blunt commentary, will once again take charge of the drama inside the Bigg Boss house. Photos from the set show him in his element, gearing up for a high-voltage premiere.

Bigg Boss 19 introduces a fresh twist with the theme ‘Gharwalo Ki Sarkaar’, where the power lies entirely with the contestants. This season, housemates will have more control than ever before—deciding daily duties, influencing twists, and even shaping the course of the game.

Adding to the intrigue, boxing legend Mike Tyson may join the show as a special guest in October. As per The Times of India, the 59-year-old icon is in advanced talks with the producers. If finalized, Tyson could spend up to 10 days in the house, aiming to boost the show’s global appeal—just as past international appearances have done.

Premiere Date, Cast, Plot, and More Details

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

FX‘s Alien: Earth continues to unfold on Hulu as the show explores the classic film franchise from a new TV perspective, but one big question lingers as we follow hybrid Wendy (Sydney Chandler) along for the Earth-based adventure. Will there be a Season 2?

While we will have to see the full season to tell whether the show from Fargo creator Noah Hawley sets up a storyline for Season 2, we’re holding out hope. Below, we’re breaking down everything we know about the potential for Alien: Earth‘s Season 2 return, but stay tuned for additional details as Season 1 continues to play out.

Has Alien: Earth been renewed for Season 2?

No, currently, Alien: Earth hasn’t been renewed for a second season, but the stats are promising. FX released that the show pulled in 9.2 million views globally in its first six days of streaming. Views are defined as the total stream time divided by runtime. And that’s just the start. There’s no telling how many people will be tuning in for later episodes as the show reaches the latter half of its eight-episode run.

What has been said about Alien: Earth‘s possible Season 2 return?

Patrick Brown / FX

In an interview with Variety, Hawley expressed interest in expanding the show to run several seasons, should it be successful. “Season 1 is the proof of concept,” he told the outlet. “And if it works commercially, then Season 2 is about building a model upon which we can envision making a Season 3, 4, 5.” In other words, there’s extreme hope for the show’s future beyond Season 1, if it gets the green light.

Who would star in an Alien: Earth Season 2?

While there’s no indication who would star in Alien: Earth Season 2, the series currently features Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver. Stay tuned for any news, should the series be renewed for Season 2, for updates on casting.

What is Alien: Earth about?

Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, on an Earth governed by five corporations. When the mysterious deep-space research vessel USSCS Maginot, owned by the corporation Weyland-Yutani, crashes in Prodigy Corporation territory, hybrid Wendy sets out with a ragtag team of tactical soldiers to make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat. Along with the classic Xenomorph, the Maginot was harboring various other alien species that pose threats known and unknown.

Who makes Alien: Earth?

Alien: Earth is created for television by Hawley, who executive produces the series with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales, and Clayton Krueger. X Productions.

‘Ku’damm 77’ Drama Sets MIPCOM Cannes World Premiere

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

The latest instalment of the Ku’damm drama series will have its world premiere at MIPCOM Cannes. German historical drama Ku’damm 77 picks up from the earlier Ku’damm 56, Ku’damm 59 and Ku’damm 63 series.

Set and filmed in Berlin, the family drama is centered around a dance school. It was created by Annette Hess, the first-ever recipient of Deadline’s German TV Disruptor Award in 2024. Maurice Hübner directs the UFA Fiction-produced series, which is for pubcaster ZDF on home turf. ZDF Studios is across sales with the earlier chapters selling into over 30 territories and scoring an International Emmy nom.

The world premiere will take place on October 14, the Tuesday of MIPCOM, which remains the biggest gathering for the international TV crowd. The screening will be in the famed Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals and followed by a Q+A with cast, showrunner and director.

“The selection of Ku’damm 77 for a World Premiere Screening in Cannes proves the importance of German drama series in this top-class international arena,” said Dr. Markus Schäfer, President and CEO of ZDF Studios. “We are confident that this programme will enjoy the same success with worldwide audiences as previous Ku’damm editions.”

“The Ku’damm collection has truly resonated around the world.” added Lucy Smith, Director of MIPCOM Cannes. “Its authentic, universal, and compelling storytelling has struck a chord with audiences, and we are thrilled that the international television community will get the chance to catch the first look in Cannes of its much anticipated 70’s era.”

MIPCOM runs October 13 through 16. The organizers have already announced Blue Bloods offshoot Boston Blue will have its world premiere at the event.
