OAKLAND, Calif. — A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of college football coach John Beam, who was featured in the Netflix series “Last Chance U” and remains in critical condition after being shot on campus, the Oakland Police Department said Friday.
Few other details were available. It was the second shooting in two days at a school in Oakland.
Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee described Beam as a “giant” and a mentor, educator and lifeline for young people.
“For over 40 years, he has shaped leaders on and off the field, and our community is shaken alongside his family,” Lee said.
The Netflix docuseries focused on athletes at junior colleges striving to turn their lives around, and Beam’s Laney College Eagles starred in the 2020 season.
Two of Beam’s former players — brothers Nahshon and Rejzohn Wright, now in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints — posted on social media after the shooting.
“You mean the world to me,” Rejzohn Wright said in a post with a photo of Beam.
His brother shared a photo of the coach alongside a broken heart emoji.
Beam, currently serving as athletic director, joined Laney College in 2004 as a running backs coach and became head coach in 2012, winning two league titles. According to his biography on the college’s website, 20 of his players have gone on to the NFL.
“The Peralta community is devastated by his shooting and deeply concerned for his well-being. We are stunned and heartbroken that such violence has touched our campus,” Mark Johnson a spokesperson for Peralta Community College District said in an emailed statement on Beam’s current medical status.
Beam’s shooting came a day after a student was shot at Oakland’s Skyline High School. The student is in stable condition.

Sean Combs has been accused of allegedly assaulting a music producer after the accuser claimed Combs masturbated in front of him in February 2020 and then later forced him into a sexual act in March 2021, in a newly surfaced police report.
Per a report from People, the music producer — who filed a civil suit in July — filed a police incident report to the Largo, Florida police department, where he resides, in connection with the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s station on Sept. 20. It claims that the incidents took place while working on a project collaboration with C.J. Wallace, the son of the late Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans.
In the police report, via People, on Feb. 26, 2020 the victim and Combs were in a warehouse containing Notorious B.I.G.’s clothing and while Combs was going through the racks he started to masturbate underneath one of the late rapper’s shirts.
According to the civil lawsuit, Combs allegedly invited the John Doe to a private listening session for a Biggie project, where he claims he was forced to take ketamine before being taken to the warehouse.
“[Victim] stated that Combs picked out clothing and set them down on the couch and eventually sat on the couch next to clothing when he received a phone call,” the police report alleged. “[Victim] continued to search through clothing when he heard what sounded like porn coming from where Combs was sitting.”
The allegations in the police report continued: “[Victim] expressed he tried to ignore it… but he then heard more noises, and when he looked, he could see Combs jerking himself off covering himself with one of Notorious B.I.G. that was next to him on the couch. [Victim] stated that Combs removed the shirt to uncover his penis and told [Victim] to come finish him off.”
The victim said in the police report that he continued his business affiliation with Wallace following the Combs incident, but that the tenor of their partnership changed. He alleged that one of Wallace’s other business collaborators, Willie Mac, “began calling him a liar and threatened a lawsuit against him.” In March 2021, per the report, the producer claims he met with both men to discuss their professional partnership in California.
However, per the victim’s police report, once he arrived at KandyPens residence in Hollywood Hills for a meeting, two other individuals allegedly “roughed him up and put something over his head and partially his eyes.” The report claims he was then taken to another room and thrown on an ottoman. There, he allegedly recognized Combs’ voice and saw the mogul’s black custom Air Force One shoes. He alleged Combs was “screaming, cursing and calling him a snitch.”
During the incident, per the report, Combs allegedly “grabbed [him] by the head using his hands and stuck his [Combs’] penis inside of [victim’s] mouth.”
“[Victim] stated that he pulled away, but that Combs pulled his head back using his hands and stuck his penis inside of [victim’s] mouth again and the cycle occurred approximately 3-4 times for approximately 3-4 seconds each time,” the report claims. Following the incident, Wallace allegedly came in to assist the victim and “felt bad for him at the time.” The music producer claimed to have suffered from depression and mental health issues after the incident.
Reps for the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department could not provide further information to Rolling Stone involving the incident report. Combs legal team and a rep for Wallace did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s requests for comment.
The news comes on the heels of another alleged victim, fashion designer Bryana Bongolan, amending her lawsuit on Oct. 14. She claims Combs held her over the 17th floor balcony of Casandra “Cassie” Ventura’s high-rise apartment during an alleged 2016 assault.
On Thursday, Combs was transferred to the New Jersey federal prison FCI Fort Dix, As Rolling Stone confirmed. The move came after a federal judge sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison following his conviction on two counts of transporting his ex-girlfriends and male escorts across state lines for commercial sex. His projected release date is May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Combs recently filed his formal notice that he’s appealing his conviction and sentence and his camp has also asked President Trump to consider a pardon.

Under a viral video, a netizen claimed, “Kya bewakoofi h ye actors ki,” whereas another comment read, “When “promotion” becomes more dangerous than the actual stunt scene, it’s not creativity, it’s stupidity in 4K. 🤦♂️.” The team later apologised for their actions.
Sharing an update on the legal action taken, the official social media handle of Ahmedabad police tweeted: “In this case, on 30-10-2025, Crime Register No. 11191051250588/2025 has been registered at “A” Division Traffic Police Station under BNS Section 281 and Motor Vehicles Act Sections 177, 184 for recklessly and negligently driving vehicles at high speed on a public road in a manner endangering human life and performing stunts. Legal action has been initiated.”

There’s going to be a wall-to-wall royal catastrophe this week as the fallout from Prince Andrew’s degeneracy continues. On Friday, Andrew was allowed to “give up” his ducal title and his royal honors, all part of a private deal he worked out with King Charles. Then over the weekend, the Mail published never-before-seen emails and documents from the Epstein files. Additionally, excerpts from Virginia Giuffre’s book, Nobody’s Girl, continue to come out. Now we know that Andrew got a hold of Virginia’s Social Security number and information, and he gave that information to his police contacts because he wanted to harm and smear Virginia. Now it’s possible that Andrew could face an actual police investigation in the UK?
Prince Andrew faces becoming the first member of the Royal family to be investigated by police for more than 20 years after he was accused of trying to use his protection officer to smear his teenage sex abuse accuser. The Metropolitan Police is “actively looking into” allegations that he asked his taxpayer-funded bodyguard to investigate Virginia Giuffre after obtaining both her date of birth and social security number.
He then told Ed Perkins, Elizabeth II’s then deputy press secretary, that he had asked one of his officers to dig up information about Giuffre, according to a leaked email. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “We are aware of media reporting and are actively looking into the claims made.”
The Prince could potentially face a criminal investigation in the US for sharing Giuffre’s nine-digit social security number without her consent. Spencer Kuvin, the lawyer who represented nine victims of Jeffrey Epstein – the late paedophile who abused Giuffre – suggested that the Prince could face a hefty jail sentence, noting that it was a crime to knowingly transfer, possess or use, without consent, another person’s social security number.
“Penalties for this crime are very severe and can be up to 15 years in prison,” he said. The US Social Security Act also protects this information. “Given the information disclosed so far it appears that Andrew may have violated both of these acts. The FBI should immediately open an investigation into his actions and request that Andrew subject himself to an interview. Both the US and British authorities should not protect this awful individual. The world should hold Andrew accountable and show everyone that justice matters.”
The Met has looked into allegations relating to the Prince and Epstein’s activities in London three times and opted not to investigate. In October 2021, Scotland Yard announced that it would take “no further action” against Prince Andrew after reviewing legal documents from the civil case brought by Giuffre. But Sigrid McCawley, Giuffre’s former lawyer, said on Sunday that the newly unearthed emails warranted a “thorough investigation” into the force’s actions.
She told The Telegraph: “For too long the Metropolitan Police has been a pawn for the powerful and privileged. Weaponising the criminal justice system to discredit and debase survivors is wrong and cannot be tolerated. These new revelations warrant a thorough investigation and a new examination of actions taken by Prince Andrew and the Metropolitan Police to silence the bravery of Virginia Giuffre.”
Buckingham Palace staff could also face questions over what they knew and what they knew about the sharing of Giuffre’s private information.
I absolutely hope that the Met Police investigate Andrew thoroughly, but I doubt it will happen. Or rather, they’ll announce a splashy investigation, then they’ll slow-walk it and eventually do nothing about him. Meanwhile, various MPs are now calling on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to change the law so that Andrew can be formally stripped of all or some of his titles. Right now, Andrew’s York ducal title is only “in abeyance,” meaning not used, or the title has been suspended. Andrew Lownie (a royal biographer) pointed out that Starmer would only have to tweak the Peerage Act of 1963 to really strip Andrew of his York title. But Andrew would still be a prince.

Alec Baldwin won’t face any legal consequences following his car crash in the Hamptons.

The former 30 Rock star, was driving a white Range Rover SUV in East Hampton, New York on Monday (13.10.25) with his brother Stephen Baldwin in the passenger seat when he swerved to avoid a garbage truck and police have now issued a report on the incident, in which they confirmed there were no “summons issued”.
Michael D. Sarlo, Chief of Police of the East Hampton Town Police Department, told Us Weekly magazine: “At approximately 12:01 pm on Monday, October 13th, the EHTPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 27, Pantigo Road near Cross Highway.
“A white 2023 Range Rover, operated by Alec Baldwin, with passenger Stephen Baldwin, was found to have struck a tree on the Eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck, registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore, NY.
“There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions.”
The 67-year-old actor had blamed a “garbage truck the size of a whale” for the accident, which “totally crushed” his wife Hilaria’s care.
He said in a video shared to Instagram: “I was in a car accident this morning. I’m fine. My brother Stephen was visiting me on Long Island and we spent the weekend out there for the film festival [Hamptons International Film Festival] …
“This morning I was in this car accident, this guy cut me off in a truck. A big garbage truck … A garbage truck the size of a whale … I’ve never seen a garbage truck [so big]. It must have been something commercial for taking away material from construction or something…
“It was the biggest garbage truck I’d ever seen … anyway… to avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife’s car …
“I crushed my wife’s car, I feel bad about that but it’s all fine. And I’m fine and my brother’s fine … “
Alec went on to thank the emergency services for their help at the scene, but insisted the car is a write off.
He said: “Thank you to the East Hampton Police Department for coming to my aid. They came and we filed a report with them. Officer Gerken. Lovely guy ..
“My wife’s car was pretty smashed up. Big tree. Big fat tree.”
The district attorney’s office in Lafourche Parish says the Louisiana State Police’s initial crash report had “several inconsistencies,” rejecting key claims about how the Dec. 2024 wreck unfolded.
In a damning assessment, the DA’s investigator wrote, “The report provided to this office by Louisiana State Police has several inconsistencies which were used to base their opinion and conclusion of the crash.” According to surveillance and crash-scene evidence, police alleged that Lacy was speeding and passed four vehicles in a no-passing zone before returning to his lane — and this maneuver, they argued, triggered a chain reaction that led to the fatal collision.
But prosecutors pushed back. The DA’s report found that when Lacy reentered his correct lane, he did so “well before the crash occurred.” And importantly, they argued that “the evidence submitted in the crash report does not support that Kyren Lacy should have known that his actions were the cause of the crash.”
That statement echoes the claims of Lacy’s defense attorney, Mathew Ory, who told local media: “[Kyren Lacy] had no idea he caused this accident because he didn’t think he caused the accident. He didn’t cause the accident.”
The timing is critical: Lacy died by suicide in April, just days before a grand jury could weigh the case. The police department, in turn, defended its findings, saying it “stands by the findings of its crash investigation,” citing “eyewitness accounts, video evidence, and physical evidence” as the foundation of its conclusions.
This clash between prosecutors and state police reframes the case. Instead of accepting the official narrative, the DA’s office is questioning whether Lacy’s alleged actions truly precipitated the deadly crash — and whether the initial investigation painted a fair picture of what really happened.
