Ben Stiller says nepo-baby label is a “selling point”

by jummy84 October 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Ben Stiller has shared his views on the nepo-baby discourse, explaining that he sees why people who’ve grown up with parents in showbiz might follow in their footsteps.

  • READ MORE: Severance season two review: mind-bending workplace sci-fi is the smartest thing on TV

The former Severance director was discussing his own status after he paid tribute to his parents, the comedians and actors Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, in the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, released on Apple TV on Friday (October 24).

It comes at the same time as fellow actor Stellan Skarsgård hit out at the nepo-baby label himself, explaining that his teenage son Kolbjörn is affected by the label.

On SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Stiller said that he understands the arguments “about access” but sees it as a “selling point” that nepo-babies have grown up familiar with the industry.

“I think it’s kinda like that Brat Pack thing, right? New York Magazine, they coined a phrase, and then it just became a thing,” he said of the nepo-baby label, which was popularised by the magazine in 2022.

“But it’s always been what it is, in humanity and life,” he said. “It’s like, you buy a violin, a Stradivarius or whatever, it’s been in the family for hundreds of years. That’s a selling point.”

He added: “But I also understand there are other arguments to be made about access and all those things. My feeling is … if it’s in your blood, if it’s your passion and you grew up around it — for me, I think growing up around it, talking about all these things that I saw with my parents, you, actually as a kid, see the dark underside of it, the stress, the effects it has on relationships. You see that up close as a kid, and then you still wanna go into it.”

He did admit that he got his first job, in the 1986 off-Broadway revival of House Of Blue Leaves after he got an audition “as a favour” for Meara, after he “couldn’t get in ‘cause the casting director didn’t wanna see me.

“But I felt like, doing that audition, I knew that I had done what I needed to get the part,” he added. “If you have the passion, you need to do it. You need to go for it.”

Stiller himself has two children with his wife, actress Christine Taylor. They have a daughter, Ella, and a son, Quinn. Both have followed their parents into the world of acting, with Ella starring in the off-Broadway play Dilaria earlier this year and them both having small roles in Happy Gilmore 2 alongside their father.

Also in the Stiller & Meara documentary, Quinn told his dad that he felt he sometimes put being a father last, explaining: “You have all these hats that you’re trying to balance, you know, being a director, an actor, you know, a producer, a writer, but also, just like a father, right? And sometimes I felt that that would come, you know, last to these other things.”

During a Q&A at the New York Film Festival premiere of the film earlier this month, Stiller said of the moment: “As a filmmaker, I’m like, ‘Oh this is a good moment for the movie,’ you know. As a person I’m like, ‘That sucks.’ ”

Also earlier this month, meanwhile, Stiller described making comedy as being “more challenging” in the current political climate. He told Radio Times, “We live in a world where taking chances with comedy is more challenging. You’re seeing that front and centre in our country … But I think it’s important that comedians keep doing what they’re doing, speaking truth to power and being free to say what they want. That’s the most important thing.”

‘Trigger Point’ Season 3 Villain Jason Flemyng Interview on ITV Role

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

You’ve probably seen English actor Jason Flemyng in Guy Ritchie and/or Matthew Vaughn‘s films, such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Layer Cake, Kick-Ass, and X-Men: First Class. You may have seen him in such Hollywood movies as Rob Roy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Seed of Chucky, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Transporter 2 or in small independent films from around the world. Now he is playing the antagonist in one of Britain’s biggest TV dramas, season three of Trigger Point, starring Vicky McClure.

Flemyng stars as Steven Wyles, who is causing the team of Explosives Officer, or Expo, Lana Washington, portrayed by McClure, all sorts of headaches with his sinister vendetta. “Someone is targeting individuals and demanding revenue,” according to a season three plot synopsis. “Working alongside the Police Counter Terrorism Unit, the Bomb Disposal Squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.”

Season three of the show, produced by Jed Mercurio’s (Line of Duty, Bodyguard) HTM Television, in association with All3Media International, which distributes the series internationally, starts airing on ITV1 and STV on Sunday and will be available to stream on ITVX and STV Player.

Flemyng talked to THR about his role and why he always seems to get cast as a baddie.

I told to a friend of mine that you got cast in Trigger Point, and he said, “Yes, I recognize him. He must play a bad guy!”

Flemyng [Laughs] Everyone says that. It’s so unfair. I’ve been playing those parts for my whole career, and I think I have been miscast from the very beginning of time until now. But that’s what I do. As soon as you see I’m in it, you know that people are gonna die.

What can you share about your character in season three without spoiling too much?

Initially, we see the victims, we see the explosions, we see the ramifications of his actions, but we don’t see him. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between me and Vicky, which was fun.

Vicky’s someone I’ve admired from a distance for a long time. When you meet people like that, you’re like, “Please, let them be nice.” And Vicky was exactly as I expected her and exactly as I wanted her to be. It was a happy shoot, and it comes from the top.

There are some big dialogue scenes with Vicky that were a joy. In football [aka soccer], if you go on to the pitch with Ronaldo, you look like an idiot, right? But in acting, if you go on to the set with Vicky or Stephen Graham or Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie, the better the actor, the better you are. Honestly, I’ve been really lucky.

What can you tell us about the dynamic between Vicky’s Lana and your character Steven?

It’s a classic film relationship between the compassionate copper, even though Vicky is not a copper, but, you know, the compassionate protagonist and my character. The story behind this character is that he is a little man. It’s David versus Goliath. He’s been fucked over by the capitalist system. He is a byproduct of profit, and he’s sick and dying, as a lot of his friends are. He has no way of fighting back. So he takes it into his own hands. It’s a sort of Robin Hood story to a degree.

Vicky’s character understands why he’s doing it, but obviously doesn’t agree with the way he’s doing it. But her character is compassionate and left-leaning, you could say. He does it the wrong way, and she understands why he’s doing it, but can’t agree with the way he does it. There are a lot of those head-to-head things where they discuss that, which is great. Her compassion for him is very understated, but we know it because she’s such a great actress.

There are some massive scenes in it, which you definitely don’t get in a film. I have more lines in one scene than I have in whole movies, because there are six-, seven-page scenes. But when you have good dialogue, it’s easy.

The writing was working well, and I hope that the audience will have compassion for him because they understand his predicament, and they understand what’s happened to him. I think in modern society, a lot of people feel voiceless, and a lot of people feel like they’re a byproduct of the capitalist system.

Did you know Trigger Point well? What was your reaction to the opportunity to join the show?

This landed on the desk, and I was like: Brilliant! It’s [shot] in London as well. Double brilliant! I really didn’t have much of an idea about it. I knew Vicky was in it, and I knew that it was Jed’s show. But then when I arrived on it, I knew this was a big deal. Usually, when people ask me what I am doing, I’m like: “I’m making this film about a lesbian sheep farmer in the Czech Republic. And it’s got subtitles in German.” And they’re like, “Oh yeah? Great.” But when I said I’m in Trigger Point, they were like, “Oh my god, yeah, Trigger Point.” It’s probably the most popular thing I’ve ever done.

I’m at an age where my kids are 14, and it’s nice to be on the telly and at home. It sits easy with me that I’m not in Jordan, making a film that not many people are ever going to see. It’s nice to be in London, filming with the people who know exactly what they’re doing in a really tight machine. I have now watched the other seasons, which are great. And I think this year, it’s sort of stepped up another level visually. It looks more cinematic and dramatic. So, I’m really excited to see what people think.

Will your fans get to see more of you on mainstream TV shows then, maybe even as the hero saving the day for once?

I’m with you on that. But the people who are in control need to make those decisions. (Laughs)

Jon Bon Jovi wants to see biopic of his life “at some point”

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Jon Bon Jovi has said he would like to see a biopic of his life “at some point”, after the release of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.

The big screen biography of Bon Jovi’s friend was released on Friday (October 24), with The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White playing the Boss during the period in which he was suffering from depression and trying to write his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.

With that film in mind, Bon Jovi has told The Sun that he would like to see his own life dramatised in a feature film “at some point” in the future.

He suggested that his own son Jake Bongiovi, 23, who is an actor and model who has starred in the films Rockbottom and Sweethearts, would be the ideal candidate to play him in the film, although he is in no rush to see it being made. “I’m not in my final chapter yet,” he said. “I’m living my next chapter.”

The next chapter will consist of a run of UK and Ireland stadium shows and a New York residency in the summer of 2026, as announced earlier this week.

They will play four nights at the iconic Madison Square Garden in July, followed by shows at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park and London’s Wembley Stadium in late August and early September. See all the information on the shows here and find tickets here from Monday (October 27).

Speaking about the tour, Jon Bon Jovi said: “There is a lot of joy in this announcement – joy that we can share these nights together with our amazing fans and joy that the band can be together.”

“I am lucky enough to be able to hold a light out to the audience each night and stand in their reflection for a tremendous collective experience – I get to stand in the WE of our concerts. And I’ve spoken extensively on my gratitude but I will say it again, I’m deeply grateful that the fans and the brotherhood of this band have been patient and allowed me the time needed to get healthy and prepare for touring. I’m ready and excited!”

These will be the biggest live shows since Jon Bon Jovi had surgery on his vocal cords in 2022, a process which at one point he said left him uncertain that he would ever be able to tour again.

Last year, Bon Jovi released their 16th album ‘Forever’, a celebration of the band’s 40th anniversary and a follow-on from the Disney+ documentary film Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Yesterday (October 24), the band released a new version of ‘Forever’ featuring reinterpretations of the album’s songs in collaboration with a list of guests that includes Bruce Springsteen, Avril Lavigne, Robbie Williams, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Ryan Tedder, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and more.

MAGA, Turning Point USA Backlash

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

When news hit that Bad Bunny would headline the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime, his fans rejoiced. The choice made sense given that the Puerto Rican superstar is among the most streamed artists on the planet, and the performance is also set to make history: Because Bad Bunny doesn’t sing in English, this will be the first halftime show in Spanish.

Bad Bunny took pride in that fact. “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” he said in a statement on the day of the announcement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

However, the right had an entirely different reaction. Conservative commentators immediately attacked the decision of Roc Nation, the NFL, and Apple Music and launched into a full meltdown on social media. They latched onto the fact that Bad Bunny would not be singing in English and grumbled about his political and immigration stances. (He has been outspoken about Puerto Rican independence and has called out Trump’s immigration policies, saying in a recent interview that he decided not to tour in the U.S. because of fears that ICE would harass his Latino fanbase.) “The NFL is self-destructing year after year,” MAGA YouTuber Benny Johnson wrote on X.

Their protests got more dramatic as Trump advisors, and even Trump himself, weighed in. Trump called the decision to have Bad Bunny headline “absolutely ridiculous,” while the organization Turning Point USA went as far as setting up a “counterprogram” called “The All-American Halftime Show” as an alternative to the star’s performance. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny has commented little, save for an SNL monologue poking fun at the situation.

Here’s everything that’s happened so far.

Bad Bunny Delivers a Pro-Immigrant Message in Video for “Nuevayol”

Bad Bunny has often been outspoken when it comes to politics in Puerto Rico, but he did use the video for “Nuevayol” to speak up against the immigration policies of the current administration. Toward the end of the video, a voice that sounds a lot like Donald Trump’s bellows out of a Seventies radio and says the following: “I made a mistake. I want to apologize to the immigrants in America. I mean the United States. I know America is the whole continent. I want to say that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans.”

Bad Bunny Says He Didn’t Tour in the U.S. Because of ICE

Speaking to i-D, Bad Bunny said he would be skipping the U.S. during his DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS tour over concerns that large gatherings of Latinos in the U.S. could be magnets for the Trump administration’s anti-immigration efforts. “There was the issue of — like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” he said of the decision.

Bad Bunny Is Announced As 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Performer

After much speculation over who would play the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner. The Puerto Rican star shared the news in an Instagram post during the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers. In a short video, Bad Bunny’s hit song “Callaita” plays as he sits atop a goal post on the shore of a Puerto Rican beach, wearing a pava hat. That same night, he went on X and seemed to reference his past comments about touring in the U.S. “After speaking with my team, I think I’ll do just one show in the United States,” he wrote in Spanish.

Right-Wingers Melt Down Following Announcement

After the announcement, several right-wing figures went on social media to blast the decision. A big source of their displeasure seemed to be that Bad Bunny has no songs in English, making this the first Super Bowl Halftime that’ll be in Spanish. “Massive Trump hater. Anti-ICE activist. No songs in English,” MAGA YouTuber Benny Johnson wrote on X.

Conservative commentator Greg Price griped that “the NFL chose Bad Bunny to perform the Super Bowl halftime show despite the fact that he recently said he wouldn’t perform in the continental United States again because ICE is deporting illegal aliens.”

Kristi Noem Says ICE Will Be At Bad Bunny’s Halftime Performance

Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski went on Benny Johnson’s “The Benny Show,” where the host asked him if “ICE will have enforcement at the Super Bowl for the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime.”

Lewandowski took the moment to make it about immigration and the administration’s strict policies. “We will find you, we will apprehend you, we will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you,” he threatened. “So know that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to how it used to be.”

Kristi Noem, the secretary of homeland security, backed Lewandowski at a later appearance on “The Benny Show,” saying ICE will be “all over” the 2026 Super Bowl.

“I have the responsibility for making sure everybody goes to the Super Bowl, has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America’s about,” Noem said in the clip. “So yeah, we’ll be all over that place. We’re going to enforce the law.”

Bad Bunny Addresses Backlash During SNL Monologue

Bad Bunny hosted SNL on Oct. 4 and took the opportunity to poke fun at the political reaction he received over his Super Bowl announcement. He joked that “everyone is happy” about his future gig, “even Fox News.” After, the show spliced together several right-wing hosts on the right-wing network combining to say, “Bad Bunny. Is. My favorite. Musician. And he should be the next. President.”

“I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl, and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” he said before continuing in Spanish. “… Especially all the Latinos and Latinas in the whole world, and here in the United States, all the people who have worked to open doors, more than I have achieved, who have achieved everything, demonstrating that our way, our carrying of this country, no one can ever remove nor erase.”

Trump Calls Bad Bunny Performance ‘Ridiculous’

A few days after Bad Bunny’s SNL appearance, Trump went on Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports, where he was asked about the Puerto Rican star’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Trump took a few shots and emphasized that he doesn’t know Bad Bunny. “I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is,” Trump said. “I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Meanwhile, other conservative commentators seemed to be watching Bad Bunny’s every move. When video surfaced of him sitting down during “God Bless America” at a Yankees game, they spiraled again. MAGA figure Tomi Lahren posted on X: “Bad Bunny appears to stay seated during ‘God Bless America’ at Yankee Stadium… Yeah, because he has a clear disdain for America. He’s an -sshole.”

Turning Point USA To Hold Competing Super Bowl Halftime Show

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, is scheduled to hold a competing 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show against Bad Bunny‘s main stage performance during the biggest game of the year.

The organization confirmed as much via X, with the post reading, “It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All American Halftime Show. Performers and event details coming soon.” It also stresses the theme of “faith, family and freedom.”

The included link leads to a form that supporters can fill out regarding potential halftime acts. Listed genre options include Americana, classic rock, country, hip-hop, pop, worship, and “anything in English,” a direct reference to Bad Bunny’s biggest hits being in his native language, Spanish.

Pres. Trump has also expressed his disapproval of Bad Bunny hitting the stage, telling NewsMax’s Greg Kelly, “I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is… I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment — I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The “DtMF” artist has already brushed off the hate, coyly responding to conservative naysayers during his most recent Saturday Night Live appearance.

Bad Bunny has found support in his fellow Latinos, with Jennifer Lopez recently going to bat for the Puerto Rican artist during a visit to the TODAY show.

“He’s one of the top artists in the world right now, probably the top,” the actress said. “It could be a lot of different people. That’s the thing. I’m super excited for people to see him. I think they’ll be pleasantly surprised because his music transcends language. It’s amazing what he’s done. He’s done something that a lot of people have never done in their life.”

And yet Bad Bunny is arguably the most overtly political artist booked for the halftime spot. Martínez Ocasio has consistently used his music to speak out on a range of political and social issues, particularly those affecting Puerto Rico and other marginalized communities. His 2018 hit “Estamos Bien” became an anthem of resilience in the wake of Hurricane María, subtly addressing the U.S. government’s neglect of Puerto Rico during the crisis. In 2019, he released “Afilando los Cuchillos” alongside Residente and iLe, a diss track aimed at then-Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló after the leak of offensive Telegram chats. The song quickly became the unofficial soundtrack of the mass protests that ousted Rosselló, and Bad Bunny even paused his European tour to join demonstrators in the streets of Viejo San Juan. In 2020, amid the George Floyd protests and the global rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, he released “Compositor del Año,” a spoken-word piece that condemned anti-Black police violence and U.S. racial hypocrisy, stating: “A Black man with a gun is a criminal, but if he’s white, it’s a hobby.”

Joy Behar Reveals Rare Point of Agreement With Trump

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

On Thursday’s (September 25) edition of The View, the cohosts dissected the latest news involving Donald Trump: Days after he publicly pressured the attorney general to prosecute his political enemies, it is now reportedly expected that former FBI Director James Comey will face an indictment (by a Trump-appointed prosecutor with no previous experience in the field) related to his statements to Congress regarding election interference.

Comey has a complicated history with Trump. He was appointed by Barack Obama but was widely spurned by Democrats after he announced a new investigation into then-candidate Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server just days before the 2016 election. He continued to serve in the role after Donald Trump was elected in 2016, but was fired a year later amid the investigation into Trump’s campaign’s ties to Russia. This ignited a special counsel investigation by Robert Mueller that plagued Trump’s first term. Trump has since repeatedly criticized Comey, including calling him a “dirty cop” in May.

The cohosts’ reaction to the matter of Comey’s potential prosecution was contentious, to say the least. Oddly enough, it was Joy Behar who expressed some sympathy for Trump’s position on Comey.

“I agree with Trump on this one,” she said. When prompted by her cohosts to explain, she continued, “I don’t like what he did to Hillary.”

When Sunny Hostin challenged whether it was “fair” that he should be prosecuted, Behar said, “No… Just saying, I rarely have something that I agree with Trump on. This is one thing.”

Hostin then pressed back again, saying, “But Joy, some would say he was just doing his job, James Comey.”

“What? At the last minute to bring out this email baloney?” said Behar.

When cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin said she didn’t need to “drudge up ancient history” on the matter, Behar asked her pointedly, “Do you agree with him?” And Griffin responded with, “I think that it should have been investigated. I do think the timing was out of step with the Department of Justice. They generally don’t do that a month out from an election.”

She then went on to discuss the matter at hand, which was the possibility of Comey’s prosecution, and she said, “I don’t think Trump’s goal is criminal convictions… I don’t think [the prosecutor is] going to be able to get a conviction based on what we know and the information that’s out there. [The goal] is to get these people wrapped up with legal fees. It’s to intimidate people from being critics of [Trump]. To him, I think it’s some degree of payback.”

When Griffin admitted that she’s not a legal expert, Hostin said with a snap, “Well, this legal expert is telling you he’s not going to get a conviction.”

Exclusive: Nikkhil Advani Speaks About Sabar Bonda’s Sundance Win: “It Marks a Turning Point”

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Rohan Kanawade’s maiden film feature Sabar Bonda is slated for a theatrical release on September 19, 2025. Executive producer Nikkhil Advani spoke about the movie, its prestigious win at the Sundance Film Festival and more. For those unaware, the movie won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema: Dramatic category at the festival.

Nikkhil opened up about it, saying, “To become the first-ever Indian fiction feature to win at Sundance is not just a milestone, it marks a turning point for Indian cinema on the global stage.”

He further added, “What Sabar Bonda has achieved is historic. Sundance is where some of the most iconic voices of world cinema – Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, the Coen Brothers were first discovered, and now, through Rohan and Sabar Bonda, India stands on that same map of discovery and credibility.”

He added, “What makes this moment truly special is that the honour has gone to a story like Sabar Bonda, a film that portrays India with rare honesty and affection, an India where tradition and progress co-exist. It is a story deeply rooted in our soil, yet utterly universal in its resonance.”

Talking about the writer and director Rohan Kanawade, Nikkhil said, “Rohan Kanawade represents the very best of a new generation of storytellers. His journey from humble beginnings to the world’s most prestigious stage is a reminder of why we make films: to connect, to move, to endure. As an Executive Producer, I am honoured to back his vision, but more than that, as an Indian filmmaker, I feel immense pride in what Sundance Grand Jury Prize win means for all of us. This is not just Rohan’s victory, it is India’s.”

Interestingly, the trailer of the movie was launched today at a special press event in Mumbai. The film is distributed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, which previously distributed the acclaimed Cannes Grand Prix winner All We Imagine as Light in India.

Sabar Bonda

Now, acclaimed filmmakers Nagraj Manjule, Nikkhil Advani, Saie Tamhankar and Vikramaditya Motwane have come on board as Executive Producers for the movie.

West Point Graduates Cancel Ceremony Honoring Tom Hanks

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

The West Point Association of Graduates has canceled a ceremony that was set to honor Tom Hanks with the Sylvanus Thayer Award, which recognizes an “outstanding citizen” whose career exemplifies the U.S Military Academy’s ideals of “Duty, Honor, Country,” according to The Washington Post.

In an email to faculty, Retired Army Col. Mark Bieger, president and chief executive officer of the Association, explained the decision as a desire to “focus on [the Academy’s] core mission of preparing cadets to lead, fight, and win as officers in the world’s most lethal force.”

Hanks was announced as the 2025 recipient of the award in June. At the time, the Association highlighted the actor’s numerous portrayals of military figures in films such as Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, and Greyhound; his work as a producer on acclaimed series like Band of Brothers and The Pacific; and his long-standing advocacy for veterans, including leading a fundraising campaign for the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

“Tom Hanks has done more for the positive portrayal of the American service member, more for the care of the American veteran, their caregivers and their families, and more for the American space program and all branches of government than many other Americans,” Robert McDonald, former Secretary of Veterans Affairs and the Association’s board chairman, said when Hanks was first announced as the honoree.

The West Point Association of Graduates’ cancelation of the award comes amid a wave of controversial changes the Trump Administration has made to the US military. Since returning to office, Donald Trump has fired numerous top leaders, ordered reviews of the curriculums at academies like West Point, and just this week, he renamed the Department of Defense as the Department of War.

His son, Donald Trump Jr., celebrated the decision to strip Hanks of the award, writing on X: “Great to see [Secretary of War Pete Hegseth] holding the line for @realdonaldtrump to make the military strong again. West Point should be focused on training the next generation of war fighters, not celebrating woke leftwing celebrities with awards!!!”
