Inside HBO Max Rebrand and Plan for Streaming Service with Casey Bloys

by jummy84 November 23, 2025
written by jummy84

A funny thing happened over the course of the streaming wars: As the end goal of the tech and media companies became global TV domination, the niches and specialities of many companies faded away (even Disney and ESPN with their strong consumer brands have been joined at the streaming hip to Hulu).

That was certainly true at Warner Bros. Discovery, which inherited HBO and HBO Max, and rejiggered them into Max. Why? Well as WBD streaming chief JB Perrette said at the time: “While [HBO Max and Discovery+] offered something for some people, Max will have a broad array of quality choices for everybody.”

The result was that HBO, the most premium of premium TV companies, became absorbed into something that was meant to be a Netflix-killer.

As HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys told reporters Nov. 20 in the company’s Hudson Yards offices, that ended up being a fool’s errand: “To Netflix’s credit, as the first mover, they have become a utility for consumers,” Bloys said. “In retrospect, we can all see that the streaming industry’s race for volume, years ago, found many brands losing their identity.”

In a world where Netflix and YouTube are the video utilities, media companies need something else to stand on. So Bloys has been undertaking an effort to make Max HBO again. That started, of course, with the surprise announcement in May that the company was rebranding.

“I know you’re all shocked, but the good news is I have a drawer full of stationery from the last time around,” Bloys quipped at the time.

But the jokes underscored a meaningful strategic shift. No longer was WBD trying to compete with Netflix for global domination, they were playing to be the premium layer sitting above it.

“[Netflix] is the basic cable of today, and in today’s world, consumers still want to add to their entertainment portfolio with must-have truly unique programming that only we can deliver,” Bloys told the audience of journalists Thursday. “We looked at all the research and came back to what they want are HBO originals, pay-one movies, the Warner Bros. TV library, the procedurals, for lack of a better word, but the elevated network [programming] that we’re working on, documentaries, comedy specials. We just came back from trying to offer too much, so we are trying to be very specific in what people value from us, and want from us.”

There are signs that it is working. HBO Max has been growing at a time when other streamers are stagnating. HBO, it turns out, still means something to a lot of media consumers.

But the new HBO isn’t quite the same as the old HBO. Back in the heyday of the brand, original adult dramas and comedies lived alongside a vast library of the biggest movies on the planet. But streaming has changed the movie business, not only tweaking the types of projects that get made, and how many get released, but with companies like Disney, NBCUniversal and Paramount now hoarding their projects for their own platforms.

The TV business has changed too. Broadcast TV, once the home for a seemingly endless supply of procedurals, has been cutting back on scripted entertainment in favor of more unscripted shows and live sports. Cheaper content, or must-watch content, with scripted often the odd man out.

So Bloys has embarked on a mission to figure out how to HBO-ify those missing pieces, to find a suitable replacement for the licensed blockbuster films that once dominated HBO’s lineup, and to find a way to take the humble network show and make it HBO-worthy.

The result has been two-fold: IP tentpole fare led by Game of Thrones, DC Studios, and Harry Potter and other Warner Bros. library content, which is meant to offset the loss of many films (Warner Bros. and A24 output deals notwithstanding): “That affinity and immediate awareness paired with HBO’s singular approach to storytelling has proven very valuable to filling that theatrical void,” Bloys said, announcing renewals for House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will keep GoT programming on a yearly cadence through at least 2028.

And then there’s the Max Originals. Bloys acknowledges that it took a little time for them to figure out what a Max Original really is in relation to an HBO Original (“Until recently, a Max Original may have been a bit nebulous for you, you’ve probably asked me about it, a bit nebulous for you, a bit nebulous for me,” he quipped). But, he says, they’ve cracked it.

“I can say now that Max Originals serve a very specific purpose: We are leaning into more cost-efficient, yet elevated and high quality series with a greater number of episodes that can return each year,” Bloys said, with The Pitt being the quintessential example. “These originals are designed to attract audiences that are adjacent to the typical HBO fans, while also feeding our strategy to deliver 52 weeks of new programming a year.”

Bloys added that having elevated broadcast fare, from procedurals like The Pitt and some upcoming projects in development like a police drama, a family drama and the Big Bang Theory spinoff Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, provides a reliable cadence to consumers who have grown frustrated with years-long gaps between other high-profile shows.

“That kind of habitual viewing, not only week to week, but on an annual basis, is really important in terms of setting habits,” Bloys noted.

The Pitt

And having seasons that expand beyond the 8-10 episodes that have become common in streaming could ultimately generate not only richer universes of characters and IP, but could prove to be training grounds for the next generation of creative talent.

“As an industry, we’ve gotten away from television, which when I started, it was 26 episodes, then the standard kind of whittled down to 22 episodes,” Bloys said. “But you really have to kind of set that up from the beginning to give yourself worlds that generate, in [The Pitt’s] case, 15 hours of story. It’s why hospital shows were a staple, because a new story — or several — walk in the door every time. You know you have to set up first, a world that generates the story, and you also have to work with people who know how to do that, who’ve worked on it for years. It is a different skill, I would say, generating 15 episodes of compelling stories, as opposed to crafting eight to 10.”

But the heart of HBO is still the HBO Original shows, and Bloys and his team are still executing on those, full steam ahead. Curb Your Enthusiasm might have ended, but Larry David is back (with the Obamas!) for a new comedy series. Entourage and Girls are in the past, but I Love LA is helping to fill that void with a voice that is uniquely Rachel Sennot’s, while Euphoria returns with a cast that jumpstarted multiple movie careers.

“What we’re usually looking for is a point of view,” Bloys said. “We’ve got a long history, going back to Gary Shandling, Larry David, Lena [Dunham], Issa Ray, Danny McBride, we’ve got a long history of writer performers, especially in comedy, it’s a really good combination to give you a specific tone and point of view.”

The adult dramas and dramedies that helped define the cable channel are still a cornerstone, from The White Lotus and Task to the forthcoming DTF St. Louis.

Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey in ‘The White Lotus’ season three finale.

Fabio Lovino/HBO

The result is a mix of programming that serves multiple audiences but carries with it a compelling throughline: Whether it’s House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, The Pitt, or I Love LA, an HBO show is a good show. Not every show will be for every HBO Max subscriber, but every HBO Max subscriber knows that every show has a level of quality that they respect.

“You have to start with, what’s a good show. What do we believe in? What is a good script?” Bloys said, adding that his team doesn’t set any guidelines on how many HBO Originals vs. Max Originals vs. IP-driven tentpoles get the green light. “The great thing about development is you just give yourself as many options as possible in all of the formats and genres that you saw [Thursday].”

HBO’s tagline, for years, was “It’s not TV, It’s HBO.” It was brand positioning that placed HBO above the vast array of channels at every consumer’s fingertips. HBO floated above the fray, and it made it into a culture-defining brand.

Bloys is once again leaning into that ethos. Streaming might be the delivery mechanism by which people get their fix, but they aren’t watching “streaming,” they are watching HBO Max.

Salman Khan Schools Tanya Mittal Over Her Nomination Game Plan in Explosive Weekend Ka Vaar Promo

The eleventh week of Bigg Boss 19 has turned out to be one of the most dramatic and chaotic ones yet. With heated confrontations, emotional breakdowns, and shifting alliances, viewers were treated to a roller-coaster of events, largely thanks to Farhana Bhatt and Tanya Mittal, who stirred up major chaos inside the house. As fans know, tensions between Tanya Mittal and Amaal Malik have reached a breaking point.

Tanya Mittal

Tanya Mittal Schooled In Bigg Boss

The once-close duo’s friendship has completely fallen apart, with Amaal now maintaining his distance from Tanya. Their strained relationship has become one of the biggest talking points of the season, and things took a turn for the worse in the latest promo of Weekend Ka Vaar, where host Salman Khan is seen exposing Tanya’s game plan. In the newly released promo video for this weekend’s episode, Salman Khan can be seen confronting Tanya Mittal over her actions during the nomination task.

According to the promo shared by the makers, Tanya and Shehbaz nominated Ashnoor Kaur. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Tanya’s apparent attempt to manipulate nominations involving Amaal Malik, which backfired spectacularly. During the Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman Khan is seen taking Tanya to task for her so-called nomination strategy. He says, “Tanya, your nomination plan has been ruined. Bigg Boss didn’t even give you the option of Amaal. You built up so much drama, saying you’d call Amaal ‘bhaiya’ in front of everyone. You were trying to provoke him, but no one cared. Now you can’t go from ‘bhaiya’ to ‘saiyan’. If that was your game, then what kind of game is this?”

Tanya Mittal

Salman’s sharp words left Tanya visibly embarrassed, and housemates appeared stunned at the host’s frank criticism. The promo shows Tanya attempting to justify herself, but Salman interrupts her, making it clear that her strategy was seen through by both the audience and Bigg Boss. Earlier this week, Amaal Malik had already made headlines after calling Tanya fake, which deeply upset her. Their relationship, which started as a close friendship, has now turned bitter.

bitchy | Sarah Ferguson is ‘working with fixers’ & making a plan to launch a comeback

by jummy84 November 5, 2025

Despite the palace’s briefings that they’re treating Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson harshly, nothing could be further from the truth. Andrew will likely move into a palatial “cottage” on the Sandringham estate and enjoy a well-funded retirement in Norfolk. Sarah is being cut loose, but she’s been given two months to basically figure out her next moves. Sarah’s team has already briefed outlets on her plans to move forward independently and no longer live with her ex-husband. So what’s Sarah’s plan? The Sun claims that Fergie has hired a new team to put together a comeback plan. Which sounds like… something Sarah would absolutely do.

The former Duchess of York is plotting her comeback and is set to finally separate from ex-husband Andrew — 30 years after they divorced. Sarah Ferguson has held talks with an expensive “brand rescue team” after being stripped of her title and kicked out of Royal Lodge.

Fergie lost a string of patronages after The Sun on Sunday revealed she had emailed Jeffrey Epstein calling him a “supreme friend” and apologising for saying he was a paedophile. She was also axed from ITV daytime telly show Loose Women.

Sarah, 66, is expected to be forced to shed most of her staff and flunkeys after Andrew was finally forced out of his 30-room Windsor mansion. Sarah and Andrew married in 1986 and divorced in 1996. She moved into his Royal Lodge home in 2008.

Now, for the first time in 17 years, Fergie is set to fend for herself. Her daughters — Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie — are said to be encouraging their mum to embark on a rebrand. It is understood she is working with fixers who operate with some of the biggest brands. And Sarah has told her team of experts she wants to be a leader in the “female positivity world”. The one-time duchess wants to embark on a number of branding and commercial opportunities as a mother and philanthropist.

A source said yesterday: “Sarah has always been a grafter and a hard worker and always finds ways of making money and getting out of a hole. She has expensive tastes and massive outgoings but always found a way to make ends meet. Calls from brands may go unanswered right now but she is still Sarah Ferguson and still a big name.”

Meanwhile, a friend insisted Sarah was “taking stock” after a stressful few months and hoped to “let the dust settle” before moving on.

[From The Sun]

As we’ve discussed a lot in the past month, Sarah has made and lost several fortunes already. I have no idea where all of the money has gone – she obviously lives large and has no idea how to budget or save, but still. It’s insane that she’s a woman in her 60s and she should have a retirement nest egg worth millions, but apparently the money is all gone and she’s planning to launch another dumb comeback. This comeback will fail as well – after everything that’s happened, no one wants it, no one will pay her for anything.

Fitness coach shares easy DIY calorie deficit plan that doesn’t require strict restrictions

by jummy84 November 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Staying in a calorie deficit is a common eating plan when it comes to weight loss. It means you eat fewer calories than your body burns, creating a gap that allows your body to use the stored fat for energy. Often, a calorie-deficient plan is thought to include strict diets which eliminate several food groups. But what if you had the agency to decide what stays on your plate while still seeing great results?

With the circle and swap method, you have the freedom to choose what stays in your diet. (Picture credit: Freepik)

Fitness coach Raj Ganpath, who regularly shares fitness tips with his Instagram community, in a November 3 post, shared a technique to create a plan all by yourself. Usually, with most cookie-cutter diet plans, you are in the backseat, letting others choose for you or make peace with whatever the standard plan offers. However, with this DIY method of circle and swap, you are in the driver’s seat and decide what goes from your diet.

What is the technique for a DIY calorie-deficit plan?

The plan the fitness coach shared requires you to do a quick audit of your current eating plan. It means you have to be candid with yourself. This includes jotting down all the stray snacks and guilty cravings, too.

Here’s the step-by-step guide to the DIY calorie plan, as shared by Raj Ganpath, “Firstly, write down everything that you eat in a day. Remember, this is for your eyes only, so be brutally honest with yourself. Then circle all the foods that are fatty in nature, anything that is oily, fried, creamy or rich. Then circle all the foods that are high in sugar, essentially all sweet foods. And then circle all the foods that are high in starch- rice, idli, dosa, roti, naan.”

It is relatively simple: name the foods, estimate calories and circle out which are potentially unhealthy.

Goal-wise modification

Now that you have circled the unhealthy foods in your current plan, the adjustment depends on your fitness goal. The fitness coach explained that once you have listed your foods, there are two ways to go about it: either you are looking to eat healthier without creating a calorie deficit (no major weight loss plans), or you want to focus on weight loss, which requires you to create a calorie gap.

Goal 1: Improve quality of meal

This route is for you if you want to eat healthy, but your goal is not necessarily weight loss. For this, you will only have to replace the unhealthy foods with better alternatives.

“If your goal is to simply improve the quality of your meals and improve your health, and you don’t care about weight loss, here’s what you want to do. Remove about 400 calories worth of foods from these three categories,” he shared, revealing how many calories to remove.

However, since it is DIY, there’s flexibility; you do have control over what to cut or keep. Ganpath further added, “You decide what you want to keep and what you want to remove, and then replace it with 400 calories worth of protein and vegetables. If you do this, you would have removed 400 useless calories and replace it with calories that are filled with protein, vitamins, minerals and fibre that will improve your health in long term.”

So long story short for this route: You are removing all the empty calories. They are high in calories but lack good nutrients. Instead, you are replacing them with better alternatives that keep your energy levels high and healthy.

Goal 2: Weight loss (calorie-deficit plan)

The second route is if weight loss is your primary fitness goal. This needs you to eat fewer calories and burn more.

“Remove 800 calories worth of foods from these three categories, once again you decide what you want to remove, what you want to keep, you don’t have to eliminate all of it. Just find the things you can give up and remove them,” the fitness coach highlighted, removing more calories in this plan.

Since you are eliminating 800, the replacement is only half. Ganpath elaborated,”Replace it only with 300 to 400 calories worth of protein and vegetables. Now you would have created a calorie deficit of about 400 to 500 calories per day. Over the course of a week, this adds up to about 3,500 calories. If you can do this consistently,”

The deficit enables you to eliminate half a kilo each week, helping you to lose weight sustainably. Raj said, “You can expect to lose anywhere from 400 to 500 grams every week. Remember, in the long run, be it health or weight loss, it is simply about making small sustainable changes to what you are already doing.”

The pace is steady, but it will keep you committed to healthy eating, unlike dramatic crash diets, which are very rigorous, demanding high restriction.

bitchy | Mail: Duchess Meghan has a ‘secret plan’ to use Sussex as her surname!!

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

This was a top royal story at the Daily Mail last weekend: “I think I’ve discovered Meghan’s secret plan for if – or when – William strips away the Sussexes’ royal titles.” Columnist Sharon Hunt is on the case! So what is the Duchess of Sussex’s “secret plan” for when Scooter King William throws a hissy fit about the Sussex ducal title? Well, as Hunt brilliantly deduces given the wealth of personal statements made by Meghan just this year, Meghan plans to continue to use “Sussex” as a surname. Gasp, horror, brand new information!

The historic move [to remove Prince Andrew’s titles] underscores the Royal Family’s readiness to safeguard its reputation by stripping titles when necessary. It also brought to mind a recent report by Tom Sykes, the well-connected royal correspondent for The Daily Beast, who believes that Prince William, when he becomes king, will formally revoke Meghan and Harry’s dukedoms. To be clear, the Sussexes’ conduct since stepping back from their royal roles bears no comparison to the gravity of the allegations against Andrew. Not even close.

Yet this week’s developments reveal a modernised Royal Family unwilling to sidestep controversy – and prepared to act decisively when titles become untenable. Recent reports indicate that William had a firm hand in the removal of Andrew’s titles. Inevitably, the unfolding drama has reignited long-standing whispers about the future king’s intentions for Harry and Meghan’s titles. Such talk has simmered for years, with royal insiders and commentators hinting it’s only a matter of time once William takes the crown.

But perhaps a subtle clue was overlooked: the Sussexes may have already laid the groundwork for this eventuality – with a strategy to preserve their brand, even if their titles are no more. Let’s revisit a viral moment from season one of Netflix’s With Love, Meghan. One of the show’s standout scenes – now widely shared online – appears in episode two, where Meghan is joined by celebrity guest Mindy Kaling. While cooking together in a Montecito kitchen, a particular exchange caught viewers’ attention. It began with Mindy joking about Meghan’s teenage fondness for a popular American fast-food chain.

‘I don’t think anyone knows Meghan Markle has eaten Jack in the Box – and loves it,’ Mindy quipped. But rather than letting the joke land, Meghan interjected with a correction.

‘It’s so funny too, that you keep saying “Meghan Markle” – you know I’m Sussex now,’ Meghan said. ‘When you have kids and you go, “No, I share my name with my children.” And that feels so… I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, “This is our family name, our little family name.”‘

Yes, our first instinct may have been to cringe at the terse dressing-down. But in doing so, did we overlook a telling clue about the Sussexes’ long-term strategy to safeguard their royal brand?

As Meghan and Harry continue forging their path in the US, their connection to the core Royal Family grows increasingly tenuous. A time may come when King Charles – or more likely his successor – finds cause to formally revoke their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex. In anticipation of such a shift, have the couple – Meghan in particular – made the strategic move to adopt ‘Sussex’ as a de facto family surname? If so, it’s a shrewd piece of forward planning. Repurposing a royal title as a family name ensures the regal association endures – even if the formal honours are one day withdrawn.

To our knowledge, nothing prevents the former senior working royal from legally adopting ‘Meghan Sussex’ as her name in California. Their days as part of the ‘Fab Four’ may be behind them, but what has consistently underpinned their ventures in America – especially the lucrative ones – is that prized, intangible link to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex title. If my suspicions are correct, Meghan has quietly executed a masterstroke here. By transforming a royal designation that can be taken away into a family identity for her and Harry, she is securing her own dynasty. It means that whatever Prince William’s future plans, there will always be a Sussex stronghold in California. Bravo, Meghan.

[From The Daily Mail]

Months later, it’s still so telling that they refer to that With Love, Meghan scene as a “dressing down” or something about how Meghan was “frosty” or “furious.” Meghan stated a preference without even having to say “please don’t refer to me by my maiden name.” The commentary on that moment was fascinating, because it became a window into what it was like for Meghan in that dreadful place, with people accusing her of bullying for simply correcting someone or stating a preference. Anyway, yeah, breaking news, they use Sussex as a surname. They’ve used Sussex as their surname since 2023, when Charles dithered about their titles. It’s not some kind of PR masterstroke, it’s simply Meghan and Harry wanting a family name for themselves and their children, and for that name to reflect their marriage. It’s not a coincidence that all of this talk about title-stripping would effectively stop Meghan from using her married name, her title.

Nicole Scherzinger hopes to plan Thom Evans in Hawaii ‘soon’

25 October 2025

Nicole Scherzinger hopes to marry Thom Evans in Hawaii “soon”.

Nicole Scherzinger has revealed where she plans to tie the knot

The 47-year-old singer got engaged to the 40-year-old former rugby player in 2023, but the couple haven’t had the time to walk down the aisle yet due to the former Pussycat Doll’s stint in Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard.

Asked if they plan to tie the knot soon, she told The Sun newspaper: “Definitely we want to get married. I mean, listen, Norma Desmond and Sunset Boulevard took the past two years of my life, which was life-challenging but worth it.

“But we’re super-excited to get married, and we plan on getting married in Hawaii. That’s where I was born and my papa is an Archbishop there, so we plan on getting married in Hawaii, hopefully soon.”

The Don’t Cha hitmaker swooned over her partner’s plans to wear a kilt on their big day.

She continued: “I’m so excited. Thom wants to wear a Scottish kilt. How cool would that be? It will be beautiful. To think this guy from one island met this girl from this little island in the Pacific and came together. It’s like some Disney fairytale.”

Nicole went on to reveal that she surprisingly gets plenty of sleep next to her “hot” fiancé.

She added: “But yeah, he is a Greek God.

“He’s literally a Greek God. The other day, we were running. I didn’t even want to run any more, but I just kept running to watch him run.

“I was like, ‘I’m just chasing you ’cause you’re so hot’.”

In June, Nicole admitted work was getting in the way of wedding planning.

She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “Oh, there’s no wedding planning, honey. When you do Broadway, it’s only Broadway. You eat, sleep – you don’t sleep much – and breathe Broadway.

“Thank God I have a very understanding and wonderful and the most supportive fiancé.”

‘Matlock’ Fans ‘Unsettled’ by Season 2 Plot — Does Matty Have Another Secret Plan?

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

A high-stakes game of chess transpired between friends-turned-unwilling foes Matty (Kathy Bates) and Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) in Matlock Season 2 Episode 2, and fans are concerned about where the season is headed because of it. Some are complaining that there were “immature” scenes in the episode, and others are wondering if there’s a bigger scheme at play here that would explain what they view as confusing choices for the characters of Matty and Olympia.

The episode, titled “Another Matlock,” showed Matty and Olympia constantly trying to one-up each other as they tried to get the Wellbrexa study into their possession, or in Olympia’s case, keep it hidden. Matty found the study in Olympia’s safe at her brownstone, took it, and replaced it with a document of equal size but blank pages. When Olympia discovered what Matty did, she told her that the study was a fake generated by AI. The real Wellbrexa study, according to Olympia, was in a safety deposit box in Connecticut, kept there so that Julian (Jason Ritter) wouldn’t be able to find it and destroy the evidence, should he give in to his fearful impulses and commit another criminal offense.

Olympia took a page from Matty’s book when she secretly recorded a tense conversation between them. Olympia triggered Matty’s anger when she threatened to get her and Edwin (Sam Anderson) imprisoned for bank fraud and other crimes, which would leave their grandson, Alfie (Aaron D. Harris), without guardians. Matty practically growled that she’s “untouchable,” and this audio is now Olympia’s leverage over the Kingston family in this Wellbrexa debacle.

Matty had offered to let Olympia attend her meeting with The New York Times in an act of goodwill to signal that she cared about her fate and the fate of her children, but Olympia doesn’t want her ex-husband implicated in this at all; she wants Julian’s father, Senior (Beau Bridges), to take the fall since it was him who ordered Julian to hide the study. As Matty pointed out, Julian didn’t have to follow that order, but he did.

The comments section of our Matlock Season 2 Episode 2 recap showed a dislike for the episode, particularly the Matty and Olympia feud and the scenes between Julian and Billy (David Del Rio), in which Julian snapped over the idea of sharing an apartment building with him.

“Did not like this episode and how it is leading the two main characters down a path of negativity towards one another,” one comment reads. “If this is just going to be a weekly jostle as to which woman gets the upper hand, then the show will become less watchable. Just like the Julien/Billy scenes. That storyline was bad. Too immature.”

One fan feels that Matty and Olympia’s plot in this episode didn’t make sense, arguing that Matty and Olympia love each other too much to be fighting like this, leading them to wonder if the women are laying out an elaborate scheme to take down Senior and Wellbrexa while protecting Olympia’s family.

Sonja Flemming / CBS

“I want the Olympia/Matty friendship back. How is that going to happen now?” the comment says. “I just hope this is all some secret mastermind plan between Matty and Olympia set up so Olympia can take control of the narrative without being implicated or suspected by Senior. In the last episode, Olympia asked Matty if she liked theater. Granted, this was about the case of the week, but maybe there was a hint that a bigger performance was about to ensue. To take someone like Senior down, a man above the law, they need to be enemies.”

Olympia taking Edwin on a road trip to the Connecticut safety deposit box, only to leave him stranded in a move against her friend, stood out to another fan.

“I really love Bates and I think she [is] doing [a] terrific job as Matlock, love how she quotes ‘innocent old lady.’ But I can’t agree more how this episode was full of [shots] and upper [cuts], very unrealistic, taking Edwin on the trip to just dump him there, so she can record?” they said. “I’m not sure how Matty and Olympia have a chance to bring back friendship. Or maybe there is an act? But for whom?”

A similar discussion is happening over on Reddit.

“I’m not sure I enjoy the direction the show is taking,” a thread said. “Writing, acting, and direction are all great. Perhaps too good. The whole episode gave me anxiety.”

“I think for me it’s because up until this episode Matty always had the upper hand, and for now it seems the tables have turned,” one reply read. “That in [and] of itself created anxiety for me because I am rooting for her and Edwin. We tend to want the happily ever after, neat and tidy. Things just got real messy.”

One fan said in response, “It is, but I just don’t like the way Olympia is trying to cover for Julian. Yeah, Senior was the [kingpin] but doing what she is doing to protect somebody who did do wrong… I just don’t know. I don’t want to hate Olympia, but right now I do, and it hurts.”

The AI study development stood out to one viewer. They said, “Just a casual observation, as a guy who was working on his laptop while his wife watched this episode: it seemed like every single person on the show was hiding something from someone else, who was hiding something from someone else, who thought someone was on their side but who secretly isn’t because, you know, they’re hiding something…it never ended.”

‘The Crown’ Producer Andy Harries, Jeff Pope Plan Caroline Aherne Film

EXCLUSIVE: Caroline Aherne, the beloved British comedy star behind The Royle Family and The Mrs Merton Show, is to be the subject of a feature film.

Andy Harries, producer of The Crown and Left Bank Pictures‘ executive chairman, is collaborating with Oscar-nominated Philomena writer Jeff Pope on the project, which remains in its infancy.

Harries told Deadline that Pope has written a script that chronicles Aherne’s “peak creative years,” from her stand-up work in the early nineties to writing and starring in The Royle Family, the iconic comedy series about a TV-obsessed Manchester family.

Harries had front-row seats to Aherne’s talents, having executive-produced The Royle Family and Mrs Merton for the BBC. Pope also worked closely with Aherne on The Fattest Man in Britain, starring Timothy Spall, and comedy The Security Men.

Harries is on the hunt for a director for the picture, while a cast has yet to be attached. He said the script is “sad, funny, and very emotional.” As for the role of Aherne, “it’s a really challenging part for an actress in her early to mid-30s,” Harries added.

Craig Cash, the co-creator of The Royle Family, is involved as a consultant and executive producer. Cash is best known nowadays as the narrator of Gogglebox, a job he inherited from Aherne after she died from cancer in 2016. She was just 52.

Pope said: “I loved Caroline and I still think about her, or some funny line she came up with, almost every day. She was a true original, a working-class woman from Manchester who broke all the rules — every single one of them. I want more people to understand what a genius she was, and what drove her.”

Pope spoke movingly about her death in 2016, telling The Guardian that she “suffered appallingly” with depression, but that her interest in people was a hallmark of her writing. Aherne won four BAFTA Awards during her career, while her other work included appearing as a regular on sketch series The Fast Show.

Bigg Boss 19: Salman Khan Questions Gaurav Khanna For Playing Safe After Tanya Mittal, Baseer Ali Call Out Game Plan; Labels Mridul Tiwari ‘+ 1’ Contestant During Weekend Ka Vaar

The latest Weekend Ka Vaar saw Salman Khan put Gaurav Khanna in the spotlight once again, questioning his lack of participation and visible presence in the house. Citing the recent pirate task, Salman asked Gaurav to explain his contribution, pointing out how his absence from action is raising questions about his strategy and intent in the competition.

Salman Khan Calls Out Gaurav Khanna For Giving A Star Cameo

When asked about his role in the pirate task, Gaurav said, “It was our strategy to study other teams’ players and send people accordingly. We sent the girls first, then later played accordingly. I wanted to play, but…” Salman interrupted to probe deeper, asking, “Aapka ghar mein jo dikh raha hai, ye aapka asal kirdaar hai? Are you getting intimidated by other contestants’ talents? You need to speak up on muddas. How are you getting performance pressure on that? This is a competition of the mind to tackle issues rightly. You’re an intelligent man why are you not using it?”

Defending his stance, Gaurav clarified, “I like to stay aloof from all the abuses and aggression that happens during tasks.” However, Salman delivered a sharp reality check, saying, “Your role in the house is like a star cameo, jo poster mein nazar aata hai, but picture mein nahi dikhte.” As Gaurav continues to walk the fine line between restraint and invisibility, it remains to be seen whether he will finally rise to the occasion or fade further into the background.

Salman Khan Calls Out Mridul for Lacking Individuality

On the latest Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan turned his attention to Mridul, questioning his individuality and visible presence inside the house. Drawing comparisons, Salman remarked, “Jitne bade Gaurav hai TV pe, utne bade aap social media pe ho. But if you haven’t bought your followers, why have they followed you? And now that you’re not visible in the show, will they continue to like you?”

Salman further pointed out that Mridul often comes across as a supporting act rather than a standalone player: “Sometimes you’re with Natalia, sometimes with Gaurav — you’re always showing up in the +1 category. Your personality inside the house is very different from the one people see on your channel. You’re not giving any solo opinions; you’re always seen under someone’s shadow.” Agreeing with this critique, Mridul admitted that he, too, has been feeling the same about his current stance in the game.
