Hulu Passes on La LA Anthony, Kim Kardashian Pilot ‘Group Chat’

Hulu has opted not to pick up the comedy pilot “Group Chat,” Variety has learned. The show was inspired by La La Anthony’s book “The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness” and hailed from writer Kenya Barris and executive producer Kim Kardashian.

The project was first announced as being in development back in 2024 under Kardashian’s first-look deal with 20th Television. Anthony starred in the pilot in addition to executive producing, while Kardashian was set to guest star and serve as narrator on the series. The cast also included Yaya DaCosta, Melanie Liburd, Rebecca Rittenhouse, and Stephanie Suganami.

But Anthony and Kardashian are staying in business together. Both are attached as executive producers on an untitled Tracy Oliver comedy series currently in development at Hulu. Oliver is also an executive producer on the project in addition to writing. 20th Television is the studio.

The logline for the new project states, “When the Bay Area’s most sought-after crisis manager for professional athletes finds her own life upended by her husband’s scandal, she turns to the three women who’ve been by her side through every version of her life. Together they navigate dating, ambition, motherhood, and the glamorous mess of starting over.”

Oliver is perhaps best known for writing the hit 2017 comedy feature “Girls Trip,” which grossed over $140 million worldwide. She went on to write films like “The Blackening,” “The Sun Is Also a Star,” and “Little.” On the TV side, she is known for developing “The First Wives Club” TV series at BET+ and for creating the Amazon Prime Video series “Harlem,” which ran for three seasons.

OIiver is repped by CAA, Artists First, and Myman Greenspan. Kardashian is repped by WME. Anthony is repped by Linden Entertainment, WME, and Sloane Offer.

Prince William misses ‘glory days’ of search-and-rescue pilot

Prince William misses the “glory days” of being a search-and-rescue pilot.

Prince William misses his RAF days

The Prince of Wales served with the RAF from 2009 until 2013 before flying with the East Anglian Air Ambulance from March 2015 until July 2017 and at a joint engagement with his “dear friend” and fellow helicopter pilot the Crown Prince of Jordan, Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire on Wednesday (15.10.25), William looked back on his military days with great fondness.

According to the Daily Telegraph, he said: “I left and went straight into the Air Ambulance afterwards and did three years or so there and… it sort of merged into one big flying trip. I miss the search and rescue days, the glory days.”

The prince told how he loved hearing the sound of the Sea King helicopter flying during US Premident Donald Trump’s state visit last month.

He added: “Seven aircraft were flying over and Sea King comes in and I was like ‘there she is’ – that noise went straight to my heart, it was a great sound.”

The 43-year-old royal still enjoys flying when he can and admitted piloting an aircraft is his “happy place”.

Asked whether he still flies, he said: “I do still fly – I keep my hours going because, when you learn that skill set, you just don’t want it to go. I’ve definitely lost a lot of the skills Ι had, but I like to just keep on top of flying and keep doing it. It’s my happy place when I’m flying.”

During their visit, the princes met trainee aircrew and staff from No. 28 (AC) Sqn and No. 22 Sqn – with whom William served during his time at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales – and heled engineers work on the main rotorhead of a Chinook aircraft, with the British prince joking someone would come along to “check” his counterpart’s work.

They then attended a private meeting with RAF personnel.

The two princes flew to the engagement by helicopter from Windsor Castle, with Kensington Palace stating it highlighted their “strong relationship” and mutual respect for the Armed Forces.

Disney+ has officially greenlit a one-off Muppet Show special, with special guest Sabrina Carpenter.

Sabrina Carpenter will be a special guest in the Muppets Pilot

Developed by Point Grey Pictures – the production company helmed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg – the project is titled Muppets Pilot and is being positioned as a launchpad for a potential series reboot, Deadline reports.

Disney+ officially confirmed the project on their social media accounts, posting to X: “It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to get things started as The Muppet Show returns for a triumphant event on Disney+ in 2026 with special guest star @SabrinaCarpenter!

“This brand-new installment from The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures will feature Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the gang as they return to the Muppet Theatre to put on a variety show filled with music, comedy, and plenty of chaos.”

Should the special strike the right chord with audiences, it could usher in a fresh chapter for Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the rest of the beloved ensemble.

Carpenter, who also steps into an executive producer role, will join the iconic puppet cast in a mix of backstage shenanigans, sketch segments, and musical performances that pay homage to the original show.

Back in 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Carpenter appeared virtually with Rogen to perform The Muppet Show Theme song for The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II.

Production is set to take place in Los Angeles, boosted by a $1.6 million tax incentive from the California Film Commission. The special is a collaborative effort between 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures, with Albertina Rizzo penning the script and Alex Timbers directing.

Longtime Muppet performers – including Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel – are confirmed to reprise their roles.

Originally launched in 1976, The Muppet Show ran for five seasons and became a cultural touchstone thanks to its blend of celebrity cameos, musical acts, and offbeat humour.

What does it take to survive in the US Navy and Marine Corps’ toughest fighter pilot school?

You’ll watch them take on breathtaking bombing tests, learn to master aircraft carrier landings, face seasoned instructors in head-to-head dogfights, and tackle the intense final week before graduation. Every episode promises edge-of-your-seat action, so strap in and get ready to experience the adrenaline firsthand.

Go inside the cockpit

For the first time in history, the US Navy and Marines have granted filming access to their fast jet training bases, giving you up-close access to the final gruelling six months of training and selection through cockpit, training centre and in-flight footage. What’s more, the aerial team behind the footage includes Kevin LaRosa, Aerial Coordinator and Lead Camera Pilot for Top Guns: Maverick – who is no stranger to bringing high-speed, high-stakes drama to your screen.

From the classroom to the cockpit, you’ll witness what it takes to earn your wings and compete for the chance to one day fly the world’s only long-range stealth strike fighter: the F-35.

Meet the next generation

Four fighter pilots walking out of an aircraft hangar

Becoming an elite strike fighter pilot is the ultimate test of skill, nerve and speed, bringing immense challenges. Trainees dive at speeds they’ve never experienced before, wrestle with high-risk manoeuvres and face intense physical and mental strain. Some struggle to control their instincts or cope under pressure, while others rise to the occasion.

But it’s not just about flying. Away from their training, students also juggle the weight of family expectations, the sacrifices of loved ones and the rivalries and friendships that shape their journey. For many, past failures and personal struggles follow them into the cockpit, making each flight as much a test of character as it is of skill.

This series follows the trainees not just in their training, but in their lives beyond it – from moments of triumph to crises of confidence. Only the strongest will succeed, and not all will make it to graduation, so every manoeuvre could be the difference between earning their wings or leaving their dream career behind.

Top Guns: The Next Generation starts at 9pm on Sunday 21 September

Available to watch on the National Geographic channel (Sky 129 | Virgin Media 183)

‘The Rookie’ Spinoff ‘Gearing Up’ To Shoot Pilot, Timing Revealed

The Rookie North, Alexi Hawley’s anticipated spinoff from his long-running ABC drama The Rookie, is getting closer to fruition.

“I think we are looking at shooting a pilot in the spring or late winter, so we are gearing up for that,” Hawley told Deadline of the project, which has not been officially picked up to pilot, on the red carpet at ABC’s End of Summer Soirée Friday night.

Deadline revealed exclusively in December that ABC was developing a second Rookie spinoff set in Washington state, written/executive produced by Hawley and executive produced by The Rookie star/executive producer Nathan Fillion and fellow EPs Bill Norcross and Michelle Chapman.

“I’ve been going back, and there’s a script, I’ve been doing some drafts and getting some notes,” Hawley told Deadline in May. “You know me, I’m a hopeful person, so I remain hopeful.”

By early July, The Rookie North was in serious pilot consideration at ABC. As Deadline reported at the time, the project had been gaining momentum for a pilot order, which was believed to be contingent on casting the lead role, a former overachiever in his 40s-50s who becomes a rookie cop after his life does not go as planned. A well-known TV actor was approached, but things didn’t work out.

I hear a pin has been put in the casting process to wait for the new cycle when more big names become available. ABC brass are looking to cast the role with someone of the caliber of Scott Speedman, who headlines the network’s only drama pilot ordered so far this year, RJ Decker, now filming.

Additionally, I hear the network and producing studios, Lionsgate TV and 20th Television, took their foot off the gas to give the script more time and not rush it to production.

Those considerations are consistent with the timeline provided by Hawley, and a formal pilot pickup is expected.

If The Rookie North comes to fruition, it would be the third series in the franchise, following spinoff The Rookie: Feds starring Niecy Nash, which was canceled after one season in 2023. Of that offshoot’s demise, Hawley said last year: “A lot had to do with the forces that led to strike … the consolidation of the industry, the economic impact of the streaming wars have had on different companies. I do feel it was not a creative decision. It was a business decision. I can’t argue with that. I’m not running anything. It was a treat for us. We love that show … it’s all I can really say.”

The mothership series, headlined by Fillion, will return for its eighth season in early 2026, re-teaming with High Potential and Will Trent on ABC’s Tuesday schedule.
