Vicky Kaushal’s 5 Best Performances That Prove His Versatility: From Raazi To Chhaava

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

Vicky Kaushal’s 5 Best Performances ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

A few months back, Vicky Kaushal was the talk of the town among the audience after his impressive performance in Chhaava. The audience praised his acting skills in a historical action drama, and the movie went on to become a major box office blockbuster. Over the years, Vicky has seamlessly transitioned between intense, emotional, and light-hearted roles, proving his unmatched range. Here’s a look at five of his finest performances that truly highlight his versatility as an actor.

1. Iqbal – Raazi

  • IMDb Rating: 7.7/10
  • Director: Meghna Gulzar
  • Streaming On: Apple TV

Vicky Kaushal‘s performance in Raazi is regarded as one of his finest. The film was released on May 11, 2018, and performed well at the box office. In Raazi, Vicky Kaushal played the role of Iqbal Syed, a member of a Pakistani army officer’s family. Throughout the entire film, the reactions and emotions Vicky portrayed truly demonstrated that he can portray unique roles and switch between antagonist & protagonist very smoothly.

2. Sam Manekshaw – Sam Bahadur

  • IMDb Rating: 7.7/10
  • Director: Meghna Gulzar
  • Streaming On: Zee5

In Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal not only cosplayed the role of Sam Manekshaw but actually lived it. The portrayal of the army officer was so perfect and realistic. 3. Sukhi – Dunki

  • IMDb Rating: 6.5/10
  • Director: Rajkumar Hirani
  • Streaming On: Netflix

Dunki was released in 2023 and had stiff competition with Salaar in theaters. Despite having Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, Vicky Kaushal’s cameo presence as Sukhi shone brightly. Vicky was not part of the entire film, and his character was sacrificed in the early stage of the movie. However, his character left a long-lasting impact on the audience, especially due to the innocence and genuine emotions he portrayed as an actor.

Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas Review: Elevated By Arshad Warsi’s and Jitendra Kumar’s Performances

by jummy84 October 20, 2025
written by jummy84

If not for Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas, would’ve fallen flat. The film rides almost entirely on the capable shoulders of its two leads, both of whom breathe life into a script that otherwise feels derivative and overstretched. Arshad Warsi had shed his comic image to play an upright cop in Sehar (2005), a career-defining turn that showcased his serious acting chops. Now, in Bhagwat, he returns to familiar territory, and once again proves that he has the quiet intensity and gravitas to carry such roles. As Vishwas Bhagwat, an aging, angsty officer sent on a punishment posting to a restive town in Uttar Pradesh, Warsi is utterly convincing, paunch, ponderous gait, and all. His anger simmers just beneath the surface, erupting in interrogation rooms custom-built for his particular brand of justice.

Warsi looks good in khaki. It’s a mystery why Bollywood hasn’t cast him more often as a cop since Sehar. He adds nuance to a character that might otherwise have seemed stock: the tortured officer haunted by trauma, chasing justice with clenched fists and a ticking clock.

On the other side of the equation is Jitendra Kumar, who turns in a surprisingly complex performance as Samir, a backward caste schoolteacher involved in a blossoming (and taboo) romance with an upper-caste girl Meera (Ayesha Kaduskar). Known for his affable, bumbling roles in Panchayat and Kota Factory, Kumar pulls off a welcome transformation. He oscillates effortlessly between the charm of a road-side Romeo and the desperate defiance of a man accused. Even when the film starts to wobble under the weight of its borrowed ideas, Kumar holds it together with his slippery, layered portrayal.

Unfortunately, strong performances can’t entirely mask the film’s flaws. The story, clearly inspired by real-life cases, particularly the Cyanide Mohan case from Karnataka, takes more than a few narrative cues from Dahaad, the Vijay Varma-led series about a serial killer preying on vulnerable women, which was inspired by the same killer. The parallels are almost distracting, from the socio-religious tension surrounding the case to the modus operandi of the suspect, Bhagwat often feels like a rehash. Even worse, when the antagonist begins bragging about his crimes, you’re reminded of Sector 36. The deja vu is overwhelming.

Once the mystery is solved and the culprit identified, Bhagwat loses all momentum. What follows is a courtroom climax that strains believability, particularly when Jitendra Kumar’s character suddenly begins arguing his case with the confidence and flair of a seasoned prosecutor. The sequence, trying to be too clever for its own good, ends up feeling forced, dulling the emotional and narrative impact of everything that came before it.

There are important themes, caste, communalism, police brutality, but the film only glances at them before retreating into genre tropes. The supporting cast tries, but they’re never given enough room to truly register. The romantic subplot, initially refreshing in its tenderness, soon gets buried under the procedural drama. It should be said that Ayesha Kaduskar is in fine form here and shows that Bada Naam Karenge wasn’t a one-off thing.

In the end, Bhagwat is too reliant on its leads to do the heavy lifting. Warsi and Kumar deliver, no doubt, but the film around them doesn’t rise to meet their commitment. There are sparks here, a line, a look, a moment, but not enough to ignite a truly compelling fire. We’re not sure why it’s called Bhagwat Chapter One. Is it the first of the series and Bhagwat is coming back to solve more killings? As an interesting aside, please note that Arshad Warsi had also starred in a 2003 release called Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, which had no first part. The film is currently streaming on Zee5

Watch Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas for Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar. Endure the rest.

Nas Reveals Where He Stands On Super Bowl Halftime Show Performances

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

While many artists dream of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Hip-Hop icon Nas recently revealed that he has no interest in joining that elite list—despite being more than qualified.

In a conversation with Complex, the Queensbridge native was asked about potentially performing at the NFL’s biggest stage, and his response was refreshingly candid.

“Nah, I don’t want to do … I can’t say I don’t want to do the Super Bowl, but I don’t,” Nas admitted. “Why would I do that? Leave it to the professionals. Leave it to the pros. I’m a pro at what I do.”

Nas attends the “X: The Life and Times Of Malcolm X” opening night at The Metropolitan Opera on November 03, 2023 in New York City.

Known for his lyrical depth and cultural impact, Nas explained that he’s more comfortable in the role of an observer when it comes to the Super Bowl spectacle.

He offered praise for recent performers, acknowledging the quality of the show in recent years. “I want to watch dope halftime shows and that’s what has been happening lately so salute to all of them,” he said, referencing standout Super Bowl sets from Usher, Dr. Dre, Rihanna, and Kendrick Lamar.

Although Nas may not see himself on that stage, many would argue that few are more deserving. With a career spanning three decades, 20 studio albums, and a legacy that includes classics like Illmatic, the 52-year-old has remained a force in Hip-Hop and beyond.

Nas

His humility aside, the conversation comes at a time when the NFL continues to embrace more diverse talent.

Bad Bunny is set to headline the Super Bowl LX Halftime Show on Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California—marking a historic moment as the first solo act primarily performing in Spanish to take center stage.

Nas may be sitting this one out, but his presence in Hip-Hop culture remains as powerful as ever.

Scores, Performances, and Reviews for TikTok Night

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

[WARNING: This post contains MAJOR spoilers from Dancing With the Stars Season 34, Week 3.]

The competition is getting even more intense during Episode 3 of Dancing With the Stars Season 34. During the Tuesday, September 30, episode, the remaining 12 pairs hit the dance floor once again to perform routines to songs that have gone viral on TikTok. Judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli offered their critiques and gave the contestants their scores.

One person will be eliminated at the end of the episode based on viewer votes and the judges’ scores. Follow along as we live blog all of the performances and reveal the scores. Keep checking back as we update throughout the episode!

Jen Affleck — 19/30

For her Week 3 cha-cha-cha, Jen Affleck performed to “She’s a Bad Mama Jama,” which is the same song she previously went viral for dancing to on TikTok. She threw it back to that viral video by starting the routine wearing a fake baby bump and hospital gown, then ripping it off to show off her sexy gold costume.

“Mamma mia! That was an easy delivery, wasn’t it? In, out, cha-cha-cha-, down, next! I’ve never quite seen anything like it, I have to say,” Tonioli said. However, he said Affleck needed a little bit more foot action and to be a bit “cleaner on the finish.” Inaba gushed, “You are such a hottie!” and said it was “so impressive” that she did that routine so soon after pregnancy. “But, there’s a little bit hyperextension going on in some of your moves,” she added.

Hough concluded the critiques by telling Affleck she gave a “great performance,” and warned her she needed to have straight legs and the “proper Cuban motion” in this particular dance. “Overall, I think your performance is starting to evolve and come out,” he concluded. Inaba gave the routine a 7, but Tonioli and Hough scored Affleck with 6s.

Lauren Jauregui — 18/30

Lauren Jauregui hit the dance floor next with a cha-cha-cha to her band Fifth Harmony’s song “Work From Home.” Of course, they threw in some original 5H choreography to the routine, as well.

“The way you move, I really like the way you move, you’re very in tune with your body,” Inaba said. “I want to see a lot more pop in your step. I just want you to hit certain things harder. I want more dynamics. I think you have it in you.” Hough said there’s “something beautiful” about the way Jauregui moves, but agreed with Inaba’s comments that she needs more “power” in her Latin moves.

“They’re absolutely right,” Tonioli added. “You have a wonderful lyrical quality. When you dance Latin … sometimes you have to hit the beat. Flow your body as you would do with your voice.” She received 6s from all three judges, which was down from last week.

Danielle Fishel — 21/30

After getting her first 7 last week, Danielle Fishel had even more to prove this time around (especially since she’s battling an injury). She performed a foxtrot to “Manchild” by Sabrina Carpenter, her former Girl Meets World costar.

“You’re just so pleasant and refreshing. There’s a simplicity and a grace when you dance,” Hough said. “The control and the foxtrot fundamentals, thank you so much. One note tonight is that when you use your arms, use it from your ribcage. An extension from your ribcage. So your whole body moves.”

Toniolo praised Fishel for taking his past advice about watching her shoulders. He called the dance “lovely” and “elegant,” adding, “The TikTok did not take away from the style of the dance. It was incorporated beautifully.” Inaba agreed with her fellow judges and said the routine was “very beautiful,” but told Fishel she can “work a little bit on [her] body contact” in the future. She improved from her scores last week, earning 7s with all of the judges.

Jordan Chiles — 24/30

After her major improvements last week, Jordan Chiles returned with a tango to “Anxiety.” The response to the “really hard” routine was so overwhelming that Chiles got emotional afterwards.

“Don’t cry, your improvement has been astonishing. My baby has transformed into a stalking panther! Clean, clear, powerful, focused. Your best dance yet,” Tonioli raved. Inaba thanked Chiles for sharing her own story with anxiety. “That was an example of how to be smooth and fierce. Amazing again, my friend,” she added. Hough said he was “really impressed” with how Chiles kept her frame, despite her height difference with Sosa.

For the powerful routine, Chiles earned 8s from all three judges. The highest scores of the season so far!

Dylan Efron — 23/30

Dylan Efron’s dance this week was a foxtrot to Justin Bieber’s “Yukon.”

“I’m having a hard time scoring this. I am torn,” Inaba said. “There’s a beginner level group and then the advanced, showman entertain group. You are like the beginner group, but you are really learning the technique, and that’s the key to winning this season, in particular. You are really learning the technique.” Hough called the foxtrot “smooth as silk” and said he was impressed by Efron’s “control” and “stride” in the dance. “We do not see that. That was exceptional,” he raved.

Tonioli concluded the comments by calling Efron “smoldering” and said technically the dance was very impressive. Tonioli and Hough both gave Efron 8s, while Inaba scored the dance a 7, giving him his highest score yet.

More to come …

I don’t enjoy watching my performances

Madelaine Petsch hates watching herself on screen.

Madelaine Petsch doesn’t enjoy watching herself

The 31-year-old actress stars in and executive produced The Strangers: Chapter 2, the new horror film, but Madelaine admits that she struggles to watch herself on the big screen.

She told People: “I don’t enjoy watching my performances.

“I edited these films, so I watched them in that capacity. But when I was editing, I was able to remove myself from it because there’s a lot of stopping and starting.”

Madelaine actually confessed to feeling self-conscious while watching The Strangers: Chapter 2 at the film’s Los Angeles premiere.

She said: “I think the premiere in Los Angeles was the first time I had seen it on the big screen in a year, and it was a little bit like, ‘Oh my God, these people are watching me.’ I’ve never sat in a real theatre that’s not a premiere, where there was an actual audience watching my film. I think that would make me feel crazy.”

Meanwhile, Madelaine recently revealed that she’s still able to “lean on” Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes for help and support.

The actress starred alongside Lili, 29, and Camila, 31, in Riverdale, the hit TV series, between 2017 and 2023, and Madelaine is thrilled to have retained a close friendship with her former co-stars.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: “Those two girls are still my absolute best friends in the whole world.

“It can go one of two ways when you shoot a show like that, and it went the right way with us. We all came up together in a really intense environment, having shot up to a world that we’d never been in before: fame and a successful TV show. We had each other to constantly lean on in any scenario.”

Madelaine thinks she’s fortunate to have worked with such supportive people.

She said: “We still call each other to be like, ‘I am doing this movie. Have you heard of this director?’ And someone will say, ‘Oh, I met with him.’ And someone will ask, ‘What was your experience like?’ We’re a unit.

“No matter what we do or where we are, we always support each other. It’s rare in Hollywood to find people who don’t feel competitive with you and support you so unabashedly, so I’m really lucky to have found my people.”

Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, More Cancel ‘Lilith Fair’ Doc Performances

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Artists — including Sarah McLachlan and Jewel — scheduled to take the stage at the Los Angeles premiere of the new documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery canceled their performances on Sunday in a move to stand for free speech. The film about the historic Nineties festival is being distributed by ABC New Studio, whose parent company Disney continues to deal with the fallout over its decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel for his comments on Charlie Kirk’s death.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, invitations to the premiere promised “special surprise performances.” Sources revealed to THR that McLachlan and Jewel were set to perform. Puck‘s Matt Belloni also reported that Olivia Rodrigo, who appears in the documentary as well, was meant to be a surprise guest.

McLachlan introduced the film and confirmed that the performances were canceled due to Kimmel’s controversial suspension.

“It’s a gift for all of us to see [this film], but also I’ve grappled with being here tonight and around what to say about the present situation that we are all faced with, the stark contraction to the many advances we’ve made watching the insidious erosion of women’s rights, of trans and queer rights, the muzzling of free speech,” McLachlan said. “I think we’re all fearful for what comes next, and none of us know, but what I do know is that I have to keep pushing forward as an artist, as a woman to find a way through, and though I don’t begin to know what the answer is, I believe we all need to work towards a softening to let in the possibility of a better way, because I see music as a bridge to our shared humanity, to finding common ground.”

She continued: “If Lilith taught me anything, it taught me there is a great strength in coming together to lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. So I really hope this documentary inspires everyone to continue to try and create positive change in your communities, to keep lifting each other up, keep championing the causes you believe in with kindness and empathy because ultimately, we’re all in this together.”

Members of Pussy Riot sentenced to jail in Russia for anti-war performances

Five members of Pussy Riot have been sentenced in absentia to prison in Russia on charges relating to anti-war performances that critiqued the country’s military actions.

Reports from Mediazona – the outlet co-founded by band members in the feminist punk collective – which Rolling Stone later corroborated, revealed the members sentenced included Maria Alyokhina, Diana Burkot, Taso Pletner, Olga Borisova, and Alina Petrova.

The jail terms handed down at Moscow’s Basmanny District Court ranged from eight to 13 years, with the charges stemming from a December 2022 music video titled ‘Mama, Don’t Watch TV’, which authorities alleged spread “false information” about the Russian military killing Ukrainian civilians, as well as a later performance held in April 2024. Pussy Riot were in Munich, Germany, at that time, and one member had reportedly urinated on a portrait of Vladimir Putin.

Through the band’s legal representatives, the five Pussy Riot members rejected the charges, claiming the trial and sentences are politically motivated in a statement given to Rolling Stone.

Burkot said that as the writer behind the music heard in ‘Mama, Don’t Watch TV’, she stood “by every single word, and my anti-war stance is clear.”

“The full-scale war against Ukraine has been going on for more than three years. And I continue to believe: Ukraine must win, and Putin must face trial in The Hague,” Burkot added. “The Russian government is a textbook example of patriarchy — the worst kind of abuser: a tyrant, a narcissist, a gaslighter, a toxic manipulator who lives off the destruction of others’ will.”

She  then urged “every person in this world to use their voice,” and went on to say that collective activism was the only way to “resist and overcome the crisis of democracy”.

Burkot said that thankfully, the Russian government has “no access to my physical body,” but that “even if I were in Russia, I would say the same thing: go fuck yourself.”

Pussy Riot first gained notoriety for their 2012 protest piece, ‘A Punk Prayer’, which was a response to accusations of electoral fraud and rigging in Putin’s re-election. The protest resulted in the imprisonment of members Alyokhina and Nadya Tolokonnikova, though they were released early in light of an amnesty bill passed shortly before Russia hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Since then, members of the collective have staged multiple protests, including a performance at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, a pitch invasion during the 2018 World Cup Finals, and at the Indiana State Capitol, in response to the US Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade in June 2022. The same year, Tolokonnikova released the debut Pussy Riot mixtape ‘Matriarchy Now’.

In 2023, the Pussy Riot collective were awarded with the Woody Guthrie Prize. Tolokonnikova has also teamed up with various artists over the last few years, including a single with Avenged Sevenfold, a collaboration with Nova Twins, and a whole mixtape executive produced by Tove Lo, which featured guest spots from Salem Ilese, Big Freedia, Hudson Mohawke and iLoveMakonnen.

A scripted television series about Pussy Riot was also announced in 2023 by Nadya Tolokonnikova, who expressed her ambition with the show to “inspire a new generation of rebels”.
