Watch Ariana Grande and Jimmy Fallon Perform a History of Duets

The pair took on everything from “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” to “Shallow” on The Tonight Show

Ariana Grande appeared on The Tonight Show ahead of the arrival of Wicked: For Good and took the opportunity to showcase a brief history of famous duets with host Jimmy Fallon.

The duo rolled through a series of duets, including Wicked musical number “For Good,” Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow,” and Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine.” Their performance spanned both Broadway and film, including animated flicks like Aladdin. They concluded with Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life.”

Grande also sat down with Fallon to discuss Wicked: For Good, which in theaters Friday, and her upcoming slot hosting Saturday Night Live alongside musical guest Cher. “I’m so excited,” Grande said of SNL. “I didn’t know it was going to be her until like two days before, and I found out and I almost passed out. I had no idea what to do. What an honor.” She added, “This is one of the gayest SNL episodes that has ever happened, right?”

The singer reflected on making both Wicked films at the same time. “It was interesting to watch it so many years after we had finished because shot both simultaneously,” she said of the sequel. “So in my head they’re both one story and one experience.” She added that she’s “grateful” it was split into two movies because “you really get to know Glinda the way that I got to know her and to love her in order to play her.”

Trending Stories

After Wicked: For Good, Grande will prepare to head out on the road for her Eternal Sunshine tour, which will mark her first extended run of concert dates since 2019. But in a new interview on Amy Poehler‘s Good Hang podcast, the singer says she has no plans for another tour in the foreseeable future.

“The last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up,” she said. “I don’t want to say anything definitive. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful. I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah!’”

Olivia Dean sang ‘Man I Need’ and ‘Let Alone the One You Love’ on Saturday Night Live – check out clips of both performances below.

  • READ MORE: Olivia Dean – ‘The Art of Loving’ review: musings on love from a star risen

Following the release of her second album, ‘The Art of Loving‘, the musician made her debut on the show last night (November 15) with a pair of tracks from the record. Fresh off the back of a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at next year’s ceremony, she kicked things off with ‘Man I Need’.

Performing in front of a shimmering gold backdrop, a jubilant Dean sang backed by a band, who then joined her in slowing things down with ‘Let Alone the One You Love’.

Both tracks come from her highly acclaimed latest album, the success of which saw her become the first female solo artist to ever have four singles in the Official Charts UK Top 10 simultaneously late last month.

The songs in question were ‘Man I Need’, which at that time was sat at Number Two, ‘So Easy (To Fall in Love) at Number Six, ‘Nice To Each Other’ at Number Eight, and ‘Rein Me In’, her collaboration with Sam Fender, at Number 10.

It followed after ‘The Art of Loving’ reached Number One in the album charts upon its release, marking the biggest opening week for a British female artist since Adele in 2021.

Dean’s latest record scored a four-star review from NME, with Hannah Mylrea comparing her to musicians like RAYE and Sam Fender: “British artists who’ve ascended to bigger and bigger stages, crafting music that while sonically is in their own lanes, is filled with honest lyricism coming from a distinct voice.

“As Dean prepares for her own sold-out arena tours – and with her tracks soaring up the UK charts – this record comes to cement her place. With it, marks the next chapter in Dean’s career, one as a popstar risen.”

Next year, she’s headed on a UK and European tour, which includes four dates at London’s O2 Arena. You can find a full list of dates, as well as all ticket information, here.

Ahead of the album’s release, Dean shared the lead single ‘Nice To Each Other’ back in June, and told fans it was about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating.

In other news, earlier this summer, Dean played a surprise set at Glastonbury and released the duet version of ‘Rein Me In’ with Sam Fender, after the two performed his ‘People Watching’ track during his huge London Stadium show.

Watch KISS perform candlelit tribute to Ace Frehley at first “unmasked” show

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

KISS paid tribute to the late Ace Frehley at their first “unmasked” show on the ‘KISS Kruise’ last night – watch footage of the moment below.

The guitarist and founding member of the group died in Morristown, New Jersey, on October 16. He was 74 years old.

A statement shared at the time revealed that Ace – also known as Spaceman – died “peacefully surrounded by family” following “a recent fall at his home”. An investigation was then launched into Frehley’s death, and the results of a medical examination have since been shared, ruling his death an accident.

Following news of his passing, KISS played their first show in nearly two years on Friday (November 14), with the outdoor unplugged gig launching the ‘Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas’ weekend, marking the first time the veteran rockers have joined forces onstage since 2023’s farewell tour.

Ahead of the show, electric candles were handed out to the audience, and upon taking the stage, Paul Stanley asked the crowd to lift them in the air and take a moment to “think about somebody who is at the foundation of this band”.

“We’re talking about Ace,” he said. “We certainly had differences, but that’s what family is about. Why don’t we take a moment [and] think about him looking down on us” from the fictional planet “Jendell, probably”, which Ace often referred to as his home.

“Let’s have a moment for Ace.”

KISS played:

‘Comin’ Home’
‘See You Tonite’
‘A World Without Heroes’
‘Hard Luck Woman’
‘Christine Sixteen’
‘Nothin’ to Lose’
‘Goin’ Blind’
‘Hide Your Heart’
‘Plaster Caster’
‘Beth’
‘Love Her All I Can’

The guitarist co-founded KISS in 1973 with singer Paul Stanley, bassist and part-time singer Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss. After nearly a decade, Frehley had left the band to pursue a solo career, coupled with his struggles with substance abuse and rising tension within the band about their direction.

In the years following his exit from KISS, Frehley formed a new band, Frehley’s Comet, and he would rejoin KISS for their reunion in 1996 – staying with them until 2002. He did not join them for their farewell world tour in 2022. Among the songs Ace helped write for KISS were classics like ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’ and more.

Among the names names who have paid tribute to Frehley include Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Nile Rodgers, Steve Vai, John 5, Rush, Alice Cooper, and more.

Following Frehley’s passing, a Change.org petition was launched in an effort to convince NASA to award the guitarist with honorary astronaut status. The petition – started by a fan named Kathryn – has since received over 3,000 signatures and counting.

Watch Sombr Perform ’12 to 12,’ ‘Back to Friends’

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

The NYC native debuts on the late night show with two tracks from his first EP, I Barely Know Her

Singer-songwriter Sombr debuted on Saturday Night Live with two hits from I Barely Know Her, his debut album that he released in August.

The New York City native, who just picked up a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, opened with “12 to 12,” an MTV Video Music Awards nominee for Song of the Summer.

Sombr returned later at the piano with “Back to Friends,” which he alone wrote and produced.

The lead single from the ten-track LP, “Back to Friends” is one of Rolling Stone‘s Best Songs of 2025 So Far, as it “plays out like an impassioned conversation that bleeds through the walls and captures the melodrama of teenage love.”

Sombr, whose real name is Shane Boose, “performs with a distinct internal confidence and external charm that has been notably absent in the withering releases from many of his male contemporaries in pop,” as Rolling Stone‘s Larisha Paul wrote in a positive review of his first album.

Trending Stories

Sombr’s stop at SNL coincided with the end of the North American leg of The Late Nights & Young Romance Tour, which he sold out. Early next month, he’ll head to New Zealand and Australia before beginning a run of shows in Europe in February.

“It’s hard to step back and be like, ‘Wow, this is amazing’ when everything is happening so fast, but it is the best thing that has ever happened to me,” the 20-year-old revealed to MTV in September, before making his awards show debut at the VMAs. “Being able to meet all these people, go to all these countries, and see all these new faces and beautiful people who connect with my music — it’s all I ever wanted to do in my life, so it’s the best thing ever.”

Watch Brandi Carlile Perform ‘Church & State,’ ‘Human’

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Both are from the Grammy-winning artist’s new solo album, Returning to Myself

Brandi Carlile returned to the Saturday Night Live stage with performances of two songs from her eighth studio album, Returning to Myself, which she released last week.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter first sang about a “failing empire” in “Church & State,” which she wrote with Andrew Watt and twin brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth.

Carlile’s first solo album since 2021’s In These Silent Days, Returning to Myself came after years of collaborations—with Elton John and Joni Mitchell—and playing in the country supergroup the Highwomen, as well as being in charge of music festivals like Girls Just Wanna Weekend and her Looking Out Foundation.

“Everybody came out of Covid with all this toxic energy, including myself,” Carlile explained to Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I just wanted to explode onto the scene and accomplish and collaborate and be everywhere and do everything. And I think there’s been a little fallout from that. People pushed themselves to the limits of their mental health, in terms of what they were willing to do to make up for lost time.”

Carlile, making her fourth musical guest appearance on SNL, also played “Human”—second on the track list of her latest work.

Trending Stories

Carlile was most recently on the late night show in early April with John just after the release of their album Who Believes in Angels?

Carlile’s the Human Tour in support of Returning to Myself begins in February on the east coast. That fall, she’ll be in Ireland, the U.K., then mainland Europe.

Florence and the Machine Perform Cover of Lady Gaga's 'Abracadabra'

Florence and the Machine Perform Cover of Lady Gaga’s ‘Abracadabra’

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

The cover coincided with Gaga’s debut performance of “Hey Girl,” their Joanne collab, in Barcelona

Florence and the Machine had the perfect Halloween-themed performance for their visit to SiriusXM. Backed by a stunning harp, Florence Welch delivered a mashup of 2015’s “Which Witch” and Lady Gaga‘s Mayhem favorite “Abracadabra.”

Welch opened with her heresy-referencing How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful song, followed by an evocative fiddle-flute transition into the Gaga track. The band concluded the performance by returning to “Which Witch.”

The timing of the cover couldn’t have been more kismet. During her Mayhem Ball Tour stop in Barcelona Wednesday night, Lady Gaga snuck in “Hey Girl,” her duet with Welch from 2016’s Joanne. It was Gaga’s first time performing the song live.

In an interview last month, Welch spoke about her love for Gaga’s early music. “In 2009, I was only listening to Lady Gaga, that was it,” she told Triple J. “Whether I would listen to this [album, Everybody Scream], I don’t know.”

Back in 2016, Gaga also shared her appreciation for Welch after their time working together. “Florence and I, when we were working together, we laughed, we cried, we hugged each other,” Gaga said to Elvis Duran, adding in a later Heat Radio interview: “Her voice is sensational. She’s one of the greatest singers in the world.”

Welch’s SiriusXM visit comes as she continues to promote Florence and the Machine’s album, Everybody Scream, which drops Friday. The record is the followup to 2022’s Dance Fever.

Steve Martin, Alison Brown Perform ‘Let’s Get Out of Here’ on ‘Fallon’

by jummy84 October 30, 2025
written by jummy84

The duo recently released a collaborative bluegrass album, Safe, Sensible and Sane

Steve Martin and Alison Brown appeared on The Tonight Show to showcase their instrumental bluegrass track “Let’s Get Out of Here.” Martin and Brown performed the rousing song on banjo with the help of several other live musicians, including two strings players.

“Let’s Get Out of Here” is the closing track on Martin and Brown’s recent LP, Safe, Sensible and Sane, which dropped earlier this month. The album marks the musicians’ first collaborative release, and includes appearances from Jackson Browne, Vince Gill, the Indigo Girls, Tim O’Brien, Jason Mraz, and Della Mae. It was tracked live at Compass Sound Studio in Nashville.

“With the banjo, there are so many styles you can work with, but Alison and I both have an ear for its more melodic, melancholy aspect,” Martin explained in a statement about the album. “We got together and played music for days, and ended up making a record where our entire banjo histories coalesce.”

Trending Stories

“We didn’t start off by saying, ‘Let’s make an album,’” Brown added. “We were just having a good time writing songs, and at some point we realized we’d written enough to gather them all together and put a bow on it. There was a joy and ease and sense of fun to the whole process, and now hopefully everyone who listens will share that joy.”

Martin recorded the album in the midst of filming his hit TV series, Only Murders in the Building. The fifth season of the show premiered on Sept. 9. Hulu recently announced that the series will head overseas to London to film its sixth season. Martin’s co-star Selena Gomez celebrated the news with a post on Instagram featuring a photo of her with Martin and Martin Short. “We are eternally grateful we can bring any of you any sort of joy,” she wrote. “My deepest gratitude from Steve, Marty and myself.”
