“What interests me is power.” Gaumont in France has revealed their first trailer for the film The Wizarrd of the Kremlin, an English-language feature film from French director Olivier Assayas. This premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival a few months ago, and it also stopped by the Toronto, San Sebastian, Busan, and Zurich Film Festivals as well. A young Russian artist becomes an unlikely advisor to Vladimir Putin as he rises to power in post-Soviet Russia, navigating the new era’s complexities and chaos. The film tells the story of Vadim Baranov, played with calm and cool by Paul Dano, a sharp young man who becomes the top propagandist and advisor to Vladimir Putin when he first takes power in Russia as President in 2000. It’s a remarkable inside look at how power dynamics, corruption and manipulation work within the top echelons of Russia’s government. Also starring Jude Law as Putin, Alicia Vikander as Ksenia, Jeffrey Wright, Tom Sturridge, Will Keen, and many others. I’ve seen this film and it’s particularly fascinating, showing how everything really is about power and control and manipulation. This trailer captures the vibe of the film and Dano’s story as it progresses through decades of time. But still no US release set yet! Take a look below.

Here’s the first official trailerr for Olivier Assayas’ film The Wizard of the Kremlin, from YouTube:

Russia, early 1990s. Amid post-Soviet chaos, a brilliant young man, Vadim Baranov (Paul Dano), charts his path. First an artist, then a reality TV producer, he becomes the spin doctor for a rising KGB agent: Vladimir Putin. At the heart of power, Baranov shapes the new Russia, blurring the boundaries between truth & lies, belief & manipulation. Only the magnetic Ksenia is beyond his control, tempting him away from this dangerous game. Years later, after retreating into silence and shrouded in mystery, Baranov finally opens up, revealing the dark secrets of the regime he helped build. The Wizard of the Kremlin, also known as Le mage du Kremlin in French, is directed by acclaimed French filmmaker Olivier Assayas, of the films Winter’s Child, Paris Awakens, Cold Water, Demonlover, Clean, Boarding Gate, Summer Hours, Something in the Air, Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper, Non-Fiction, Wasp Network, Suspended Time, and the “Irma Vep” series. The screenplay is written by Olivier Assayas & Emmanuel Carrère; adapted from the book of the same name by Giuliano Da Empoli. Produced by Olivier Delbosc & Sidonie Dumas; Curiosa Films & Gaumont. This initially premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival earlier this fall. The film opens first in France starting January 2026 coming soon. No US release date has been set yet – stay tuned.

Sir Paul McCartney blasts COP30 climate change conference for serving meat

by jummy84 November 6, 2025

6 November 2025

Sir Paul McCartney has urged COP30 organisers not to serve meat at the climate change conference.

Sir Paul McCartney has questioned the decision to serve meat at the COP30 climate change conference

The Beatles legend – a prominent vegetarian and animal rights activist – has written an open letter on behalf of animal rights group PETA to COP30 President Andre Correa do Lago about the decision to serve meat to guests at the event – which begins next week in Belem, Brazil.

McCartney penned: “I’m writing on behalf of my friends at PETA to ask you to align COP30’s menu with its mission by making it all vegetarian. This would greatly reduce its carbon footprint and overall environmental impact, setting a positive example for the world to follow.”

The 83-year-old musician was shocked by the lack of vegetarian options for guests, particularly with the grave threat that climate change poses to Brazil and the Amazon Rainforest.

The Let It Be artist said: “It is fitting that COP30 will be held in Belem, the gateway to the Amazon, whose rainforest is often called ‘the lungs of the Earth’ because it absorbs and stores massive amounts of carbon dioxide while releasing oxygen.

“Protecting the life-sustaining Amazon must be a top priority for environmentalists of all nationalities, so I was shocked to learn that only 40 per cent of the food served at COP30 is currently slated to be vegetarian.”

Paul couldn’t help but point out the irony of serving meat at an event designed to help the environment.

He quipped: “Serving meat at a climate summit is like handing out cigarettes at a cancer-prevention conference! The animal agriculture industry is a top driver of deforestation and the climate catastrophe that is wreaking havoc on the planet.”

McCartney concluded: “COP30’s own website confirms that plant-based meals have a substantially lower carbon footprint, so I urge you to lead by example and make the conference all vegetarian.”

Paul and his late wife Linda McCartney became vegetarians in 1975 and the music icon is proud to have been a pioneer of a diet that is now adopted by millions of people worldwide.

He said: “It was a joint decision, definitely. We were both quite happy eating meat, because she was a great cook, and we didn’t really think about it until we were on the farm one day eating a lamb dinner and both realised that the lambs outside were what we were eating. We didn’t like that.

“We said, ‘Shall we try going vegetarian?’ And actually, it was a very exciting point in our lives, trying to think of what we would have to fill the hole in the middle of the plate.

“Now of course, it’s really not difficult at all. You just go down the shops and most places will have great veggie options. It was a joint decision and we never looked back. It was a great thing to do, and it turned out we became part of a vegetarian revolution.”

“I thought – we should start from square one. It’s a puzzle I had to unravel.” Prime Video has revealed the first look teaser trailer for Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, yet another new Beatles documentary – though this isn’t really about them, it’s about what happened after The Beatles. Man on the Run is a film by acclaimed, Oscar-winning doc director Morgan Neville (of 20 Feet from Stardom, Best of Enemies, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead). Currently set for release in February 2026, after first premiering at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival this fall. After The Beatles break up (in 1970), Paul McCartney forms new band called Wings with his wife Linda. Archival home footage shows Paul’s life with Linda, who influenced his music, as well as his experiences after The Beatles fame. The doc film follows Wings from formation through 1970s during which Paul wrote hit songs. The description says the film “captures Paul’s transformative post-Beatles era through a uniquely vulnerable lens.” Which sounds like we get to learn about a whole other side of him that we haven’t seen before. Enjoy.

Through unprecedented access to previously unseen footage & rare archival materials, the doc captures McCartney’s transformative post-Beatles era through a uniquely vulnerable lens. Paul McCartney: Man on the Run is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Morgan Neville, director of many great doc films Troubadours, 20 Feet from Stardom, Best of Enemies: Buckley vs. Vidal, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, Bono & The Edge, and The Saint of Second Chances previously, plus the recent STEVE! (martin) a documentary in 2 pieces doc. Produced by Chloe Simmons, Meghan Walsh, Scott Rodger, Ben Chappell, Michele Anthony, David Blackman, & Morgan Neville. Vanessa Kirby and Paul Rabil have officially entered a new chapter — parenthood! The Fantastic Four actress and her boyfriend, professional lacrosse player Paul Rabil, have welcomed their first child together.

Paul shared the joyful news on Instagram on October 20, offering a touching glimpse into life as a new dad. “I’m learning that becoming a parent slows you down and wakes you up at the same time,” he wrote alongside heartwarming photos of the couple with their newborn. “I’m really grateful for everyone’s health, that I get to wake up everyday to mum’s enormous love, and that we get to have you in our lives now.”

He also revealed a playful nod to their future as a sports-loving family, writing, “For your first cradle stick. It’ll hold many stories and blessings. Likely broken windows too. Balls are allowed in the house.”

Vanessa first announced her pregnancy in May by debuting her baby bump on the red carpet. In a July interview with People, she opened up about how portraying Sue Storm in Fantastic Four: First Steps influenced her view of motherhood. “It didn’t define who she was,” she said of her character. “She was absolutely a mother, but also a powerful team member who faced threats head-on.”

She added, “Playing her while being pregnant changed me. It was the lived experience of balancing something sacred with personal purpose.”

Louis Tomlinson says he will “forever despise” Logan Paul over controversial Liam Payne interview

by jummy84 October 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Louis Tomlinson has said that he will “forever despise” Logan Paul over his divisive interview with Liam Payne.

  • READ MORE: Liam Payne 1993-2024: One Direction star who helped spark a pop phenomenon

Payne appeared on YouTuber Paul’s Impaulsive series in June 2022 and made headlines for a slew of controversial comments about his time in One Direction, including claiming that one of his bandmates had thrown him “up a wall” during an argument.

He also said that there were “many reasons why I dislike Zayn [Malik]”, and that Simon Cowell formed the group around him as the lead member. His comments were met with criticism, with Payne accused of being “arrogant”.

A year after appearing on the podcast, Payne apologised for his words, saying it was “hard for me to watch back” and that he hadn’t realised how much “impact” his words would have. He also revealed that he had spent 100 days in rehab after the interview.

Payne passed away in October 2024 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following his death, the interview recirculated, with fans looking at his words in a new light, considering his struggles with his mental health.

Now, his former bandmate Tomlinson has addressed the podcast. Speaking in a new interview with the Independent, he said: “I fucking forever despise [Logan Paul], horrible, horrible little fucker.”

He added, “I think that’s also the problem with some of this new ‘media’… I would like to think most journalists,” before correcting himself and saying, “some journalists have a duty of care.”

Tomlinson went on to clarify Payne’s claim that he was the lead member of the group, saying it was true. “It was, definitely,” he says. “It was definitely a role that was assigned to him. That is the truth.”

Addressing the podcast in 2023, Payne said that his words had come from “self-protection”, but that “the rest of the boys really stuck by me when I needed them most, they kinda came to the rescue”.

“Even Zayn, as well,” he added, “which is why I did send him a little thank you online. It came across really big-headed didn’t it?”

He added at the time: “I think, for me, a lot of what I said just came from the wrong place. I was so angry at what was going on around me. Instead of taking a look inwards, I decided to look outwards at everybody else.

“I just took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really, and my own frustrations with my own career and where I landed – I took shots at everybody else and that was wrong so I just wanna apologise for that in the first instance.”

Payne’s former bandmates – Tomlinson, Malik, Harry Styles and Niall Horan – all paid tribute to Payne in a statement following his death, while each band member also took to their social media accounts to pay their respects.

Tomlinson has recently addressed Payne’s death and said it was “impossibly difficult for him to deal with”.

Elsewhere, Tomlinson and Malik recently announced that they are set to reunite for a new Netflix documentary series.

The former also recently announced his third studio album ‘How Did I Get Here?’, which will be released on January 23 and you can pre-order here along with a 2026 arena tour which will see him play around the UK and Europe next year. You can see all the dates here, while tickets go on general sale on Friday (October 10) here.

KISS’ Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons “Devastated” by Ace Frehley’s Passing

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have shared a statement on the passing of fellow KISS co-founder Ace Frehley, who died Thursday at the age of 74 after suffering a brain bleed following a recent fall at his studio.

“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” stated Stanley and Simmons in a joint statement provided to Consequence. “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”

Separately, Simmons wrote on X/Twitter, “Our hearts are broken. Ace has passed on. No one can touch Ace’s legacy. I know he loved the fans. He told me many times. Sadder still, Ace didn’t live long enough to be honored at the Kennedy Ctr Honors event in Dec. Ace was the eternal rock soldier. Long may his legacy live on!”

In the years since Frehley left KISS for good in 2002, the relationship between him and his former bandmates was contentious at times, but, as evidenced by their statements, Stanley and Simmons both held the guitarist’s legacy in the band in high regard.

Fellow KISS co-founder Peter Criss also paid tribute to Frehley, writing on X/Twitter, “I’m shocked!!! My friend… I love you!” Numerous tributes have also poured in from other musicians, including Tom Morello, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, and more.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley lead tributes

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Iconic KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has died, aged 74.

According to a statement shared by his family, Ace – also known as Spaceman – died “peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey, following a recent fall at his home”. An exact cause of death has yet to be shared.

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” Frehley’s family wrote in the statement. “In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

Frehley’s former bandmates Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley shared the following statement to Page Six: “We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of Kiss’s legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”

Born Paul Daniel Frehley in New York City in 1951, he co-founded KISS in 1973 with singer Paul Stanley, bassist and part-time singer Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss. The members’ identities were famously kept secret until a decade after their debut, by which Frehley had left the band to pursue a solo career, coupled with his struggles with substance abuse and rising tension within the band about their direction.

In the years following his exit from KISS, Frehley formed a new band, Frehley’s Comet. The band released two albums, both of which failed to achieve commercial success. He reverted to using his own name for this 1989 album ‘Trouble Walkin”, which saw former bandmate Peter Criss provide backing vocals.

Frehley would rejoin KISS for their reunion in 1996 and stayed with them until 2002. He did not join them for their farewell world tour in 2022. Frehley and Simmons had a notably rocky relationship, with Simmons in 2019 claiming that Frehley was fired from the band for his substance abuse, while Ace argued that he was 12 years sober by then and quit “of my own free will, because you and Paul [Stanley] are control freaks, untrustworthy and were too difficult to work with”.

Among the songs Ace helped write for KISS were classics like ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’ and more.

Earlier this month, Frehley cancelled his remaining solo dates for 2025 due to “some ongoing medical issues,” which has since been confirmed as the fall he suffered.

Other rock and music icons have paid tribute to the late Ace “Spaceman” Frehley since the tragic news of his death. Simmons wrote in a standalone post on X: “Our hearts are broken.

An Exclusive First Look at Paul Tazewell’s Costumes in ‘Wicked: For Good’

by jummy84 October 16, 2025
written by jummy84

For any costume designer, a project of Wicked’s scope and scale would pose a thrilling challenge. But in Paul Tazewell’s case, he was tasked with outfitting two such movies—Wicked and Wicked: For Good—simultaneously. “It was exciting to shoot this way, to really maximize the scenery and consistency of the characters,” he says. “But it also meant that we needed to have a clear sense of the overall arc of the story.”

His work has already paid off in spades; Tazewell won an Oscar this year for his costumes in the first film. Now he’s ready to share a first look at Wicked’s highly-anticipated sequel, out on November 21.

Wicked: For Good picks up right where Wicked ended: Now vilified as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) has fled to the Ozian forest, while Glinda (Ariana Grande) is working for the Wizard in Emerald City. “In part one, we see two young women beginning their adult lives, and making choices [about] how they want to see the world,” says Tazewell. “In Wicked: For Good, we see how they make sense of the consequences that are created in making those choices.”
